Great pie all day long(even breakfast!). Casual dining with good breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Fresh soups at lunch. Think of it as a locally owned Panera type restraint with great pie.

Fantastic food with something for everyone. Don’t what else to say but Unilocal wants me to keep on writing

I ordered 4 pies for thanksgiving and specified which day I would pick them up. No problem with the two pumpkin, but someone sold my mountain berry to someone else(how does THAT happen???) and the strawberry rhubarb had the wrong crust. When I asked how my pie that I had PREPAID for had been sold the cashier said someone had probably picked up their pie early… which begs the question, why ask me what day I will pick up the pies??? Unbelievable as the mountain berry was the one my family really wanted. Will skip them next year and do my own

They have the most heavenly pies. There was 8 of us and all had something different, not one complaint. The rhubarb pie is phenomenal! Of course we live nowhere near their stores but it’s become a must when we are in town.

The best cherry pie you will ever eat. Hands down. They have a variety of other pies and pastries but I opted for the cherry because I beleive that is what this town is known for. I actually bought it to take home on a flight with me and give to my mom as a Mother’s Day gift. It traveled very well, despite the small airport there giving me a lot of problems about it. It was all very well worth it for the delicious piece of glory.

It’s the Panera of TC and I mean that in a positive way. We wanted a quick lunch stop while in TC. I had a quiche of day combo; generous slice of broccoli cheddar choice w pumpkin bread, side salad and slice of pie! I took mine to go; blueberry crumb. I think their crumb top are the best. We loved the cherry as well; one ordered raspberry crumb, a lite bitter for my pie preference. The Cuban sandwich was especially good and even my hubby commented he had entrée envy. Service is fast & friendly.

If i was just reviewing the pie, i would give it a five. I love the lakeshore berry with crumb top. it’s so stupid good. normally a hater of pie crusts, theirs is amazing and that crumb top is AHHHMAZING. Their food menu is decent. I think there’s better sandwiches in town, but it’s not terrible. However, i don’t know why but both locations have a fairly unfriendly staff. Before they opened up the second location on front street by horizon, i thought maybe it was just the employees at the original location burnt out on pie crust … but then when the second location opened… i realized it just seemed to be a trend. It’s all these 40 – 60 year old women that just. seem annoyed that you’re ordering anything. I honestly don’t even think they’re aware of it. It’s like a mild annoyed. where you just don’t feel welcomed. It doesn’t stop me from going back, but it gives me soup-nazi anxiety when I have to order. I’m always afraid if I second guess my order I’ll get a disappointed-mom-glance.

It’s pie. It’s delicious. It’s awesome. I was pretty excited to try the Grand Traverse Pie Company, especially after hearing the story about how they started and the quality of their pies. I was definitely not disappointed, their pies are pretty delicious and they have a good selection to choose from.

Great stop for lunch or dessert. We had the cherry chicken salad on a croissant. The chicken salad was above average, but it seems they skimped some on the dried cherries. Which is why I wanted to try it in the first place. The food is served creatively in pie plates which is a very cute touch. You need to finish off your visit by trying a piece of one of their heavenly pies!!! The cherry crumble pie is packed full of juicy cherries in a flaky crust with a yummy crumb topping. We ended up purchasing a whole cherry crumble pie to take home also. Their pies are truly their forte!

I avoid the GT Pie Company in the Burritt’s plaza. The staff isn’t as friendly and the food isn’t as good. My breakfast sandwich was so messy I had to eat it with a fork and knife. And the lemon silk pie was just lemon goop that I had to eat with a spoon. The Downtown location is much better.

Well thank you fellow Unilocalers for pointing us to this culinary treat. :-) When you walk in it feels just like a Panera’s … welcoming and comfortable. You order at a counter. The staff is super friendly and patient. We had the chicken soup and a chicken pot pie. Both were served up quickly and we enjoyed every bite. Of course, this location is known for its delicious pie. We had the cherry pie crumble and it was absolutely delicious. This restaurant is family-friendly, clean, and has plenty of food options for both children and adults.

I was living in Detroit and went to Traverse city to visit a friend and ended by eating a pie at this place. It was THEBESTPIEEVER. Seriously, you can’t believe how good is that and you feel like you don’t want to leave that place before you eat all of them. You have to try one sweet pie and also the Chicken pot pie. If you are in two, please don’t be scared to buy a slice for each one, it will be sad having to share it. Buy two slices and be happy for the rest of the day. But if you buy a chicken pot pie, please share, it’s just giant.

Had great quiche with spinach and bacon as well as a slice of warm pumpkin bread. Hubby had Lorraine quiche that was also delicious. Great atmosphere and service as well

Very clean, spacious and organized. Service was great even when busy. My wife ordered the chicken pot pie combo with salad and cherry pie. They offered us a pie token so we could order the pie when we were ready for it so it would be most fresh/warm. The pot pie was good, the salad was fine, and the cherry pie was great. For $ 10, not bad at all! I’m sure we’ll be stopping by for lunch again when back in Traverse City.

Well damn… we were impressed. Walking in, it feels like we’ve just walked into a local Panera… very standardized menu look, standardized couches and eating areas, etc… Checked out the menu, ordered up a chicken pot pie(6 inch), a breakfast wrap with sausage, egg, and red peppers, and a cherry crumb pie slice to finish. Breakfast wrap: Probably one of the better breakfast wraps I’ve had. Not high priced(under $ 3), it looks deceptively small on the plate they serve it on… but high quality ingredients and pretty tasty! Chicken Pot Pie: This is some good stuff… the crust is seriously delicious, and the filling was just the right thickness for our tastes… could not get enough of this. Cherry Crumb: My wife does NOT like fruit pies. Cooked fruit just turns her off and disgusts her. But she sampled this pie… and ate some more… and ate some more… and proceeded to finish her half quickly enough knowing that if she didn’t, I would have dug into her half. And then she asked if we could come back to try more fruit pies. It’s that good… yes it is. Complaint: Here’s my one complaint — I ordered a chicken pot pie for $ 9 and change. Then I added a slice of pie for $ 2 and change. Total came out to around $ 13 and change for that portion of food… they had a special running for pot pie, salad, and a slice of pie for $ 10.99, which I didn’t notice until I was getting ready to leave. Staff, if you know there’s a better deal, you should let the customer know! Yes, it was on a big poster next to the menu… yes, I was completely mesmerized by the beautiful pie display there… yes, my fault for not noticing, but please… it would’ve meant a lot if you told me that I could’ve saved $ 2 and gotten a side salad with my meal. Verdict: Phenomenal food. Pretty friendly staff and even accomdated us in allowing us to buy a frozen pie the next day to take home(we were leaving town and wanted to get an early start, so pies weren’t ready when they opened). I’d definitely go back any time we’re in the area!

In addition to being known for cherries, Traverse City as a whole is scenically set on a gorgeous blue lake. So what better setting to have grab some lunch and pie from nearby Grand Traver Pie Company? Spinach with Goat Cheese Salad [$ 7.49] Baby spinach, blueberries, red onion, apple, cinnamon roasted pecans, goat cheese, honey mustard vinaigrette The GF went with the spinach and goat cheese salad, which seemed pretty standard, but had a nice mix of apple and cinnamon roasted pecans added in for texture. The honey mustard vinaigrette was sweet and creamy, with the moist grilled chicken and tangy goat cheese providing some heft to each bite. GT Grilled Cheese [$ 6.99] Cheddar, Havarti, cherrywood smoked bacon, sourdough I went with the grilled cheese. Sandwiched between two thick, buttered slices of sourdough were crisp bacon and a nice mélange of cheddar and havarti. The tart acidity from the tomato really made each bite. This came with a dill pickle and a pat of creamy mayo-based slaw. We had to get some pie as well so stopped by to peruse the multitude of offerings. Cherry-Peach Crumble Pie [$ 3.29] a la Mode [$ 1.50] The cherry peach crumble offered a nice mix of sweet and tart, with the sugar crumble providing texture against the creamy vanilla ice cream. Nice. Grand Traverse Pie Company seems known for their pies, which are homey and tasty. But their other offerings are on point as well.

Walked in and walked out with a Cherry Crumb mini pie. Holy love. I took it home and the family gobbled it up. The crust was stunning — great almond and sugar flavors. I felt like I had to cherish every cherry in my slice of pie — beyond yummy! I wish I lived closer and could grab a few for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It was hands down the best cherry pie I’ve ever eaten. Delicious. The shop was full of life from employees to pie enthusiast. Lots to choose from and at times I could see making it to the glass barricade a challenge. Take your time and enjoy the smells of all things pie. Definitely going back when in town!

We picked up two slices of pie before our drive back down to Rochester Hills. We picked one cherry pie, because that’s what the city is known for, and asked for a recommendation on another slice. The employee recommended peach, so we ended up getting that. Later that evening we ate both slices but definitely liked the cherry significantly more than the peach. The crumbly parts were really good and buttery, but the filling was just okay. Would I come back? Maybe– it really wasn’t anything too special.

Pretty good! Not sure if I was as blown away as many of the other reviewers on this site. My order was pretty basic: a grilled cheese with tomato and a piece of apple crumb pie. The grilled cheese was a bit too greasy for my taste, though the homemade sourdough bread was quite nice. For the pie, the crumb and crust were superb, but I wasn’t as thrilled with the apples and spices on the inside. I did like it overall, but it didn’t blow me away like I expected.

Yikes. Clearly I am spoiled living in Chicago(Thanks, Hoosier Mama Pie Co.!) but this place was a real letdown. I asked if they use lard(because I don’t eat pork or pork products, and lard is commonly used in crusts) and they said no, they use vegetable shortening. This should have been my first clue that we should have just said«no thanks!»(butter is the obvious better choice here) and gone for ice cream. Alas, pie is usually so great so we forged ahead. Tried both a crumb top and traditional. Crumb top berry was the better of the two, but nothing special. The traditional– ick. The crust was gross. And I am not picky! I thought this was way worse than even grocery store pie. The crust was mealy and tasteless. Do yourself a favor and when you visit Chicago, visit a real pie place– don’t settle for bad pie. Points for the friendly staff and cute storefront.
