If you are a local you know where to go to get The Best Ruben ever, but also for so much more ! Today I had the Turkey, Cheddar and Apple panini. It was wonderful and huge ! Who would have thought to add homemade warm applesauce to a sandwich? It can with a choice of a side or soup, I got my all time favorite, Okra and Tomato soup. Everything was perfect and I shopped in the gift shop while waiting on my lunch. So many cute Christmas gifts ! Bring friends or family for lunch or Saturday morning breakfast.

A very nice country style converted hardware store with a lot of character and wonderful food. Portion size is generous and the staff are helpful and attentive.

A nice lunch spot located on the swamp rabbit trail. Located in a historic hardware store the restaurant recalls its roots with a small assortment of books and pottery and other bric a brac. The food is generally good if somewhat over priced. The venue is nice the service is effective if over bearing. ProTip: skip lunch. Come for breakfast.

True southern experience. The owners are two sisters raised in TR, and their roots are present in the food, ambiance, and friendly service. If you love rosemary, try the chicken salad! It’s also connected to the swamp rabbit trail, so it’s a great place to stop for a bite or drink on your route.

We stopped in at 2:00 on a Saturday for a late lunch. There were four of us, and we shared two sandwiches. They very nicely put our sandwich halves in individual baskets, which we appreciated. The Reuben was great and a fair size — but I did consider $ 8.25 a bit pricey for a sandwich alone, no side included. My sister and her husband enjoyed the turkey club. I also ordered a side of broccoli salad, which was delicious. Everyone was very friendly, and the gift shop had a lot of nice things from which to choose. The dessert case looked very tempting, so we may try again if we happen to be in the area.

We drove here today to enjoy a light lunch. It has some charm. We sat on the screened in patio porch and had the bbq special and a Reuben sandwich. Lemonade was house made. The food was good but I thought the sides were average – baked beans from a can, buns not freshly baked. Lemonade was house made and quite good. Watermelon got rave comments from my wife. On a cooler day we would have considered biking on the path from Greenville to here but it seemed out of the question today with temperature in the 90s and humidity at 133%.

Good cheap breakfast and super friendly people. Don’t expect to be blown away by the food. You’ll leave full and satiated though.

Best breakfast in the upstate! Amazing delivery and simple dishes done right. The quality and portions are generous for the price; only con we have noticed is the lack of consistency depending on the day. The omelets can vary drastically in size. Brought our NYer friend here last month and he raved that it was the best breakfast he had ever had, so much so he insisted we go back the next day before he flew home. Cute gift shop in the front of the restaurant to browse if there is a wait!

Wonderful food. We had the okra tomato soup and blueberry goat cheese pie which were both excellent. The specials were fish and chips which was flash grilled flounder served over tomato ragu with 4 baked potato wedges. Perfect amount and so much better than fried ever has been. The other special was enchiladas which were also very good. The owners are really fun too. Definitely worth the side trip into Travelers Rest

We we’re here for lunch. They always have a couple of specials that are not in the menu. We got the Southern fish and chips. It tasted like a fine dining experience. It came with the side of fries and Apple gargonzola slaw. Everything seemed very high quality with fresh ingredients. For dessert we got the Banana Sour Cream cake. Really good, really hight quality and fresh. Service was awesome, much better than most places. You can tell the staff morale is high too… Something I look for in a place to let me know how things are actually running. Highly recommended.

I had the turkey reuben sandwich(not on the menu but they can make it if you ask) and a cup of vegetable soup… both were awesome. Also the potato salad is very good and prepared without a lot of salt. And they have good coffee which compliments the carrot cake. Service is friendly and fast. Nice place in an authentically old hardware store. Another plus is that they are located right on the Swamp Rabbit trail so you can bike in(about 10 trail miles from downtown).

What a fun place… It really is an old hardware store and you can buy some of their interesting locally made items for gifts, etc. It’s really«homey» and welcoming… Great Southern hospitality. I had the Barbeque Chicken Quesadilla which was quite filling. Chincken, barbeque sauce, cheddar cheese… you get the picture. If you are in town, you should try this out.

This is one of the best breakfast places in the greenville area. Friendly staff, dog friendly, and great food. We had the fruit and yogurt parfait, french toast(get it with strawberries and whipped cream), and an omelet and everything was a hit.

My husband and I LOVE this place. The employees are friendly and really make anyone who walks in feel welcome. The atmosphere of the place is cozy and open(those seem contradicting, but trust me). And then there’s the food… Phenomenal! This is absolutely my favorite place for breakfast(weekend only, though). The corned beef hash omelette, the quiche, the biscuits & gravy… you really can’t go wrong. Paired with some amazingly hearty while grain toast and the best grits I’ve ever had in Greenville(cross my heart!), I’m in early morning heaven here. I suggest getting there earlier than later, though… a serious line starts forming by 10am! Granted, their lunch is really very good, too. If I worked closer, I don’t think I’d leave… and I don’t think they’d mind. ;) Really can’t say enough good about this place. Get here!

This place is a real find, and you won’t find any other place like it. Rustic, homey, friendly people, and excellent food, The Café has it all. A family group of nine of us stopped here for lunch since our trip to the mountains was a wash-out(literally). I had the grilled ham sandwich with pimiento cheese on wheat-messy, but oh so delicious. I also had a side of slaw with apples and gorgonzola, which was a hit. Most everyone else in the group got the reuben(a specialty) and loved it. Mark raved about the potato salad and said it was just like his Aunt Della’s from many years ago, very nostalgic. Susie and Thomas loved the okra and tomato soup, and Cathy loved the grilled cheese with bacon sandwich. Now comes the best part: dessert. All of them are homemade and will not disappoint. I had the peanut butter pie. Rich, yes. Silky, yes. Tasty, OMG, yes. I wish I had some right now. Other stand outs: Easter coconut cake, Hershey candy bar cake, pineapple pie, strawberry cake, watermelon cake with lime frosting, warm homemade brownies with vanilla ice cream, a favorite of Mark’s and Joe’s. This was such an unexpected surprise and treat on my trip to Greenville. I will be back for sure, and I may just have them Fed Ex a pie or cake to me in California. Thanks, Café @ Williams Hardware for a great lunch and great memory. Traveler’s Rest. Who knew.

This is, hands-down, my favorite place to eat in TR. Their food is always excellent and it’s conveniently right on the Swamp Rabbit Trail so we can ride our bikes up from Greenville to have lunch. My favorite thing on the menu has been the Apple/Gorgonzola Slaw — so good.

Went here for lunch today and we were impressed. Have a substantial menu with sandwiches, soups and salads. Also have great daily specials. We had the pecan chicken salad and it was excellent. Would have liked a few grapes in the salad though. We also had the mahi mahi sandwich and cauliflower soup special. Both were fantastic. Nice portions. Friendly staff and neat location. We will be back next time we are in TR.

I had not eaten here in more than a year as a result of a bad experience. Our party of six was disappointed at that time. A friend invited me there last week and I reluctantly went. I had a Sam Adams brew and ordered«The Best Reuben» with serious doubts. Man, was I wrong to doubt it. This was seriously the best Reuben I have had in my life. The meat was stacked high, the sandwich was hot and fresh, the bread was grilled to perfection. The beer was also ice cold. The potato salad side was also fresh. I will definitely go back as a result. Pricey at $ 16 for a lunch… But the beer might have been $ 4 or $ 5, not sure.
