Yesterday my 18 yr old bought some jewelry at Claires in Washington Square. When I went to check on her the cashier was taking a personal phone call and I noticed she never made eye contact or spoke to my daughter until she stated the total… not even a thank you. I asked my daughter how long the phone call had been going on and if the lady had helped her at all. She said she had been on the phone the entire time she had been in the store and that the lady never spoke to her and even seemed annoyed at her. I am completely sympathetic to the fact that this lady was pregnant and could be exhausted but there is no excuse for treating a customer in that manner.

Clair’s is an accessory store for teenagers… it’s low end stuff: but it’s priced and marketed as such. No surprises there. I took my 14-year old there to get her ears pierced and they were professional, thorough with information, clear with the process, and cheerful and enthusiastic. It was my daughters choice to get her ears pierced, of course, but she was still a little freaked out… they were just perfect and she enjoyed the experience… as much as one can when getting holes in your ears.

Nice location in the mall. Helpful staff. Great sales from time to time. Get your ears pierced and buy something to fill the new hole.

The daughter LOVES Claire’s. It is a cheap accessory place and since she is not thrilled with the dress for the wedding she wanted to see if there was something fun for her hair. She was able to find a simple headband with some fake rhinestones that will be perfect. We so love that the price on the price tag is the price you pay…$ 15 and we were out of there! This is one of the smaller Claire’s I have been in. Not sure why-the mall is large.

So this chain of teeny tiny acessories boutiques are really made for teeny tiny teeny boppers. At least I think they are since the stores are little and the aisles between displays are barely big enough for a grown human. I think next time I stop in I’ll have to eat an Alice in Wonderland«this one makes you small» cookie before I go… otherwise I won’t fit. Claire’s has a very cheap selection of ultra trendy(and very little kid) headbands, earrings, hats, socks and other accessories. They are cheaply made and a sold at a cheap price. You can always find sales and clearance items. I always find great costume jewelry for photo shoots here and at a price that fits the budget. I was drawn in this time by their rad selection of *tiaras*. Yes, tiaras. No it wasn’t for a six year old niece(although if you have girly six to 12 year old in your life, this is where you should get birthday presents for her!) the tiara was for me… to wear to a party. On my birthday. Don’t judge. I’ll bet you five that you’ll be in there before your birthday ;)
