I like this little place… food is good, help is friendly, and you don’t break the bank eating here! I have not eatin my meal inside but there’s plenty of booths if you care to do so! They run specials daily, I mostly get deboned chicken, with that you get 4 char broiled, huge chicken breasts(very moist and flavorful) along with grilled veggies and a big ammount of rice… a humugas salad along with the pitas and garlic… its enough food to feed 4 hungry people… for around 18.00…just a foot note, when they ask you if you want soup or salad you would he smart to get the salad… its enough to feed 4… if you get the soup your going to get a small cup! Don’t forget to tip for carry out!

La Oasis offers a pretty wide and varied menu at very reasonable prices. I visited her a lot when it first opened up and the owner would come through every time just to check on how customer experiences were. It’s been years since then, of course, and business has gotten a bit more to the usual. The food here is generally high quality and flavorful, though it hasn’t always been consistently so — every now and again there’s an «off» day, in my experience. That doesn’t mean I stop visiting the place, because most of the time my food and customer service here is very enjoyable. Does it stack up to the gems of Dearborn and Dearborn Heights? Of course not. But, given the area it’s in and the fact that there isn’t a whole lot of this type of cuisine around, knowing I can count on La Oasis for low prices and good food is a comfort.

Went for the first time on a Wednesday night a hour before closing. My order was a cup of lentil soup it had no taste at all, and a chicken shawarma salad my chicken was placed in the microwave and dried out. I was the only one in the restaurant at that time so I heard the microwave go off the door open and then out comes my salad. The salad was great minus the chicken.

Have been a fan of this place since they opened, have just started going back though because malek al kabob stole our attention for a while… Grilled chicken salads and their homemade fattoush dressing are the bomb

I don’t juice at home, but when I want a nice raw juice, I look for the nearest Middle Eastern restaurant because I know what I’m looking for will be there. I went into La Oasis and looked around. It was drab and somewhat dirty in there. I ordered a carrot/banana/honey juice anyway. The girl that took my order was nice — the service was fine. But after taking my order, she went and chatted with the cook in the kitchen… I thought she was giving him my juice order, but after a few minutes, she casually came back out and prepared my order. Oh, she prepared it after we made my cash transaction… meaning, she didn’t wash her hands after taking my cash. She went from cash to carrots. Speaking of dirty, the juicer looked like it could have used a thorough cleaning. I wonder how often these places clean their juicers. THis one looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a week or so. I should have checked all that out before I placed my order. My bad. The kitchen(from what I could see) looked like one of Gordon Ramsay’s worst kitchen nightmares and the walls behind the counter looked dirty. The other side(the dining area) looked like they put a tad bit more effort, but still no cigar. I’m not sure I’d enjoy food from here. I can’t knock it, though, because I did not order food, just a juice. Speaking of which, I did not get a full cup for the $ 3.13 I paid, I got ¾ a cup.(Really?) But, I doubt I’d be back to La Oasis based on appearance/presentation alone.

Have been going to Middle Eastern for over 30 years and my opinion… the food here was good. I wouldn’t say excellent but was really good. We had whole deboned chicken(all white), Fatuous, Hummus, Veggie grape leaves, tobuli, and rice. They were all good! The one thing I did miss was hot bread out of the stone oven but besides that the food was good and prices were really good. The decorations are not really Middle Easter and could use some serious cleaning but as long as you aren’t looking for a fancy meal the inside is fine.

Blecch! I don’t live in MI anymore and when I go back I always want Middle Eastern food. Long live chicken shawarmas! You can imagine how excited I was when my friends agreed to order M.E. food with me and I can’t tell you how my mouth was watering just thinking about it. I was VERY unhappy with what arrived. Even the hummus(the most basic dish) was bland and boring. Chicken was dry and bland too. The shawarma tried, but it still didn’t live up to expectations. There are many other restaurants to choose from so I suggest you go somewhere else!

I don’t think it’s anything to drive clear across the state for, but not bad at all. About $ 7 for their lunch special, which includes your drink, a side dish(I can’t remember the list, but for me, that essentially means«soup»), and a sandwich. I won’t claim to be an expert on middle eastern food, but for what it’s worth, I go there fairly regularly ever since a friend introduced me to it.

I’ve not yet tried many of La Oasis’ offerings, but I have tried my staple favourites. The shish taouk sandwich is fantastic(A+), if a bit heavy on the sauce. The fattoush is good(B-), though the optional feta is fairly dry. I have to agree with Jessica J. regarding the hummus: it was indeed very bland, which was disheartening. My first impression of a ME restaurant is usually determined by their hummus, and had I not tried some of their other offerings, I would have dismissed this restaurant entirely based on their bland, lackluster hummus alone. Also, it’s painfully obvious that their pita bread is store-bought(I’ve bought nearly identical pita bread from Kroger, in fact), and not made in-house. Overall, I’d give La Oasis a B rating. I’ll definitely return for their shish taouk(which I highly recommend!) and possibly the fattoush, but I doubt I’ll be trying much else.

Meet me at the Oasis? No Thanks! With so many Middle Eastern Restaurants popping up Downriver, it’s my duty as a Unilocaler to let you know which ones are good and which ones suck… this one sucks! Do yourself a favor if you ever think about coming here Don’t! The rice tasted like minute rice, the chicken was dry, the lentil soup was bland, even the hummus was bland. How can you own a Middle Eastern restaurant and have bad hummus? My guess is that La Oasis won’t be around for long!
