Poor, unorganized service, if there were any wait service at all. Limited seating, limited menu. Everything was served in plastic. Food was just okay, I would rather travel all the way to Chinatown instead.

Beware not the same as the one in Chinatown. The front person who work is the most rude person in the service industry. Ask her questions and acts annoyed and as if she is doing me a favor for being there. With that put aside, the food is not good. The beef stew noodle soup had two pieces of meat and the soap is full only half of the way in the container. Hm… I would not order again here. They really don’t need your business with the attitude they have(the girl who takes the order).

I’m sure I’m not the only that was very excited to see Bo Ky open up in Brooklyn and especially replacing the mediocre Phở place that was once there. I went in here for lunch one afternoon and left disappointed. I was craving the country duck but couldn’t eat the whole half and a noodle soup by myself so I went with duck egg noodle soup. The soup base was decent, everything else was not. The country duck was tender but in a nasty overcooked kind of way. Previously, I looked at the duck hanging on the window and it seemed a bit light in color and not appetizing but don’t judge a book by its cover, right? Wrong this time. The duck was pretty bland and could not compare. It could’ve been I just received a bad piece from a bad duck, benefit of the doubt. I was there quite early so how long could the duck been sitting there for it to be so tasteless. Honestly, it tasted like the duck has been cooked then reboiled into a pot of plain water. That’s the best way I can describe it. I don’t think this is harsh, Bo Ky just usually does not disappoint. The noodle quality was disappointing too. The noodles were not blanched correctly and not stirred while boiling. It was so difficult to loosen the noodles with my chopsticks. I ended up just picking up the ball of noodles and just taking a bite into it. I was hungry but was so not into how I had to eat these noodles. The service was disgusting. The lady in the front gave me such an attitude. She was packing my stuff to go so I just kindly told her that it’s for here. She said«WHYDIDNTYOUSAYSO?». Woah, I’m sorry. I came here to relax and enjoy my lunch. I didn’t know I had to do your job for you. She shot me a nasty look and pointed at my food on the other counter saying that it’s packed in a container already. Then another lady took the container and plot it on the table, «. HERE, JUSTEATITLIKETHIS.» I’m sorry, I just want to eat here. I felt like I killed their family or something. Yeah, they couldn’t just transfer my meal into a bowl container so I can enjoy it better. Throughout my meal, I was observing the place and I noticed that they had their temporary«test run» menu up, and that menu board did not match the noodles offered on the wall. The décor was very off. They still had the phở wall from the previous establishment. There was a cardboard congrats sign with some silver streamers hanging from the lights. I don’t care much for atmosphere if I’m eating on 8th ave but the service left me trying to look for something to like. In the end, I couldn’t believe I was excited to eat here. One of the lady in the front was talking so obnoxiously, she was criticising this Chinese looking customer that came in and spoke English. I was watching to see how that guy would respond, but guess he didn’t understand her. It was so terrible to hear/watch. Would I be back? Maybe if the ladies in the front get their act together and if the food would compare to the Bo Ky’s in chinatown. Otherwise, avoid if possible.

I went there to get the duck over rice I loved in Bo Ky on Bayard! But I was quite disappointed. The rice usually have lots of the sauce from the duck and taste amazing, white fluffy rice fresh, and with their sauce. But their duck wasn’t that crispy either, but mostly they seemed stingy on the amount of sauce. I’ll ask for more next time, but I probably won’t go back. I was planning to get Banh Mi, but the name Bo Ky caught my eye so I gave it a try.(rhymed) The service is really quick, I got it in like 3 minutes. The inside seem cozy and people seem content with their warm meal. The duck rice was 6 $, but quite small. The one in Chinatown was 10 $ but soo worth because there was mad duck and rice. I didn’t try anything else but didn’t feel a urge to. My stomach was satisfied with the meal but wasn’t super joyful about it. on a happier thought, Happy Thanksgiving!

The service here is awful. The woman at the counter doesn’t care about customers and show no respect. In addition, I know they are starting out but most of the item on the menu are not available and no proper condiments. However the food is comparable to NY Chinatown Bo Ky but if they want the business to succeed they better get their act straight.

Their chiew chow ho fun and chiew chow mien are both my go-to dishes to order; both go for $ 5 each. The flat noodles and yellow noodles are fresh and chewy like they’re supposed to taste and the broth is amazingly delicious and not filled with the nasty msg gunk that most places serve you with. The downside of this place is that if you order to go and ask for your noodles and soup to be separated into two containers, they charge you extra for it. I sorta wished that they gave more seafood in their chiew chow dishes, instead of just giving one measly little shrimp… also, the restaurant ambiance is really awkward(that’s why I haven’t actually dined in just yet). The chairs and tables are so close knit to each other and the cashier and the butcher’s table and the kitchen. The space is tight and everybody just eats and looks at each other… there’s no music, no tv, no nothing…

Exciting news! Bo Ky has expanded to Brooklyn with their new outpost: Mr. Bo Ky! Open for about a month now, this location currently offers a limited menu(see my pics for menu). Don’t worry, they have their signature country duck and noodle soups. :) I’m so glad they’ve replaced that mediocre phở joint with Mr. Bo Ky! The place is still transitioning, with much of the old décor still up(like the giant phở bowl on the wall and the coffee sign). Right now it’s a little ghetto because they serve everything in plastic bowls and plates. They also don’t have paper, take out menus(oh, I hope they’ll start delivering by winter!). Ducks are $ 11 for half and $ 22 for whole.

The real deal. They are associated with the Chinatown Bo Ky. They still only have a few items as its just a test run so there’s seafood soup, Cambodian noodle soup, duck over rice, duck over noodles, fishball soup, beefball soup. Their beef stew soup is delicious! If you eat in dont expect anything fancy. The soups are served in plastic take out bowls. And if you order to go they charge an extra 25c for the container.
