Early bird special; seated by 5:45, $ 20/person. Excellent service; including wine list. Everything on menu good. Changes constantly. Happy hour also popular. Menus all on internet. Good for mother’s day. Fancy presentation with all their meals. Sauces with their entrees.

Great restaurant! One of the few in the area(if not the only) that offer a 3-course early bird special(4:30−545pm) that includes an appetizer, entrée(ex: chicken marsala, braised boneless short rib, butternut squash ravioli, mesquite grilled pork tenderloin, Cioppino, and more) dessert(ex: NY cheesecake, iced chocolate brownie and other stuff) for only $ 20/per person!!! And… Beer or wine for $ 4 a glass. We don’t often make it for the early bird but still come here often for the fantastic food and excellent service. The staff are attentive and accommodating.

Very prompt seating for the Mother’s Day buffet. The food on the buffet was okay. Not fabulous but okay. A wide variety of foods. The mimosas were«bottomless» and yummy. But the best part was the dessert: The raspberry velvet cake for dessert was AMAZING! A little bit tart, a little sweet, a little creamy, light and perfect!

We went for lunch on a week day. On the plus side the interior is a beautiful combination of polished wood, copper, zinc?, tasteful lighting. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere unhurried. We got the calamari which was very good. The other food was also pretty good. Now the not so great. Even though only 4 tables were occupied they tried to seat us next to the bussing station. The wine by the glass had started to turn giving it a harsh taste. At the end of the meal I asked them to pack the leftovers. He picked up our plates along with the plates from ANOTHER table that he had just cleared. This is a big NONO that I have never seen ANYWHERE! The staff was friendly but probaby not experienced; one of them stepped away to talk to a coworker while we were ordering our drinks!

More of a 3.5 star rating but I like to round up to give restaurants the benefit of the doubt. Came here on a Saturday for dinner with my family and grandparents. The servers were generally friendly and attentive. Their poke appetizer was OK, but it was small and the crostinis were a little to tough. I really liked their bacon wrapped scallop appetizer though. For my entrée I got the steak and was pretty pleased with that. It was cooked perfectly and it was super juicy. For dessert we ordered the peanut butter gelato bomb and the apple galette. I REALLY enjoyed the apple galette, it was super yummy and the pastry was so flaky and delicious. Overall, I had a nice dinner here with my family and hope that we decide to come again soon!

2 starts is for the cost of their wine! I came here to have dinner with a gf. We ordered the calamari(amazing!), chicken marsala and the prawns. The food was excellent, my only complaint was the cost for a bottle of Rombauer Chardonnay-$ 84!!! REALLY?! Bev Mo charges $ 35 and you want $ 84! The wine cost is a rip off! Yes I know I’m at a restaurant and they can charge what ever they want. Next time I’ll pass on the wine and enjoy more food instead!

This place is conveniently located to the left of Pure nightclub, our second stop of the night. I made a 7:30pm reservation for 8 people about a week beforehand using Unilocal Seat Me. Baffled at the ease of booking and lack of reserved tables the night before Valentine’s Day, my suspicions were confirmed when I walked through a dining area less than half full. This place is alright. Impressive looking and polite servers. Upscale American dining. I arrived a few minutes prior to the reservation time and the host asked if we wanted to be seated when only two of eight were present. That was nice of him. Too bad the alcove-like ceiling cut off all my phone signal. The banquet room upstairs is probably hogging all of it. Slowly, my friends filled in the seats. We asked for bread a few times before they brought over two baskets. After finishing those, a waiter delivered a mountain of hot fresh bread without us having to ask. Thank you! Oscar and staff did well. No hovering whatsoever and I noticed they give patrons privacy but are still around in case anyone needs something. Wondering why the entrees took a while to arrive though … With the remaining 2⁄8 still nowhere to be seen, we ordered calamari and coconut shrimp as starters. The calamari also has battered onion slices and bell peppers. Can’t go wrong with this. The coconut shrimp has about five pieces with a glazed sweet and sour sauce. My entrée for the night was the stuffed chicken breast. Not bad, just got kind of repetitive to eat without some kind of sauce, besides the mustard. The prosciutto interior had actual meat and barely any fat. Garlic mashed potatoes were good! Presentation was cute. I liked the herb sprig(?) and the grilled zucchini wrapped around the potatoes. Stuffed mushrooms were ok, a bit drier than I’m used to when compared with other restaurants. I regret not ordering the day’s special Alaskan halibut. My friend next to me ordered it. Fantastic! Fresh mango salsa gave it a tasty tropical flair. If this dish becomes a permanent addition, it might just tempt me to return.

I really enjoyed the prix fixe menu they had for Valentine’s Day. Everything was tasty, service was excellent(our simple water glasses were always filled), and all the ladies got a rose at the end of the meal :) Hubby ordered the filet mignon medium but it looked more medium rare(which he was okay with, and I think that’s a better choice for filet mignon anyways: P). The«Jewels of the Sea» entrée consisted of three pieces of shrimp and three scallops — you’d think that’s not a lot, but it was quite filling! The brandy lobster sauce was amazing: D I also liked the fact that the veggies(baby carrots and broccolini) still had a bite to them and weren’t overcooked. The desserts were also quite excellent. I wish I had the room in my tummy to finish my hubby’s triple chocolate mousse, but after finishing my own chocolate-raspberry mousse torte, I could only steal a few more bites of his. He would’ve finished it but he had to watch his dairy intake. We tend to be around downtown Sunnyvale every few weeks to buy coffee from Philz, so this experience has definitely put Tarragon as a possible lunch spot for us.

My boyfriend previously received a passport dining card so we knew we’d take advantage of it and start going down the list of restaurants affiliated. Growing up my dad had the same passport card so I knew that Tarragon was a great place to use it. I haven’t been here in over a year, but I remembered they had a prime rib special on Friday nights so we thought it’d be the perfect deal to use it on. We got here around 7PM and there were plenty of seats available and required no waiting time. We each got the special and were quite pleased when they placed the two huge slabs of meat plates in front of us. We opted for 3oz glasses of wine to pair with our dinner and they went hand in hand. I couldn’t finish the last ¼ of my meal but I didn’t even care cause the piece was so huge and definitely worth the $$. If you’re looking for a great prime rib dinner without the cost of that of House of Prime Rib, this is a great alternative! It’s not their specialty but hey, you can’t really complain for the cost and convenience.

This is a long due review but better late than never, right!!! I had my wedding reception here at Tarragon on June 20, 2015! Choosing the right vendor who is willing to work with you and your budget is very important in wedding planning and we could not have made the better decision by holding our wedding reception at Tarragon! Tarragon has caught my eyes for a few years on Unilocal but of course, no reason to think of booking it for an event until I got engaged and decided to throw a party for our nuptial. From the get go, Dottia, the banquet specialist, was very accommodating, very patient and easy going. We got to use any vendors for the music, décor etc… no restriction whatsoever which we truly appreciate as we had a tight budget and tried to do quiet a bit of DIYs. The banquet menu selections were priced very reasonably, it is not the the fancy Ritz Carlton of course, but the room is very spacious with nice high ceilings, not frill but it is night when it’s all jacked up with tables, chairs and centerpieces… trust me! There was a bit of a hickup when I found out that Dottia was actually out of the country about two weeks prior to my wedding day(I wish I got an advanced notice) but Zoran, the restaurant manager and Pablo came to the rescue to calm down my stress before the wedding. Zoran was very on top of the game, we had another meeting to go through everything to make sure that what I discussed with Dottia would be executed well on the day of. We brought in a candy bar and we were allowed to decorate the night before the event because there was nobody using the space which we thought extremely generous as most places probably only allow you a few hours to setup. Our buffet spread was salmon in capers sauce, chicken marsala, mixed veggie, seasoned rice, salad, veggie pasta, and rice crisp chocolate cake(this dessert is rich and to die for!!!). Pablo kindly packed the leftover desserts for us to go!!! BTW, my hubby and I actually ATE our wedding food(I’ve heard that most of times bride and groom don’t get to eat!)!!! Tarragon team plated some appetizers and placed them on our sweet heart table and we ate our buffet food too, salmon was not overcooked, impressive! as I was worried it would be because of the buffet, yumm yummm!!! I had a couple of guests with food restrictions and couldn’t eat from the buffet and Tarragon worked with me to order special plates for my two guests, even they were very impressed by the service. Thank you Dottia and team for the great work and making our day AWESOME! ps: our couple friends who were guests at the wedding and who live in Sunnyvale are now frequent diners at Tarragon. They found out about the restaurant because of our wedding and they loved the food and ambiance so much that they keep going back for date nights!

I didn’t see anything I wanted on the menu so I told Crystal, our sever that I was hoping for a pasta in white wine sauce. She immediately told me they could make me a linguine with clams in a white wine sauce. It was delicious. I was more impressed that they are willing to accommodate me. The butternut squash ravioli was very good as well. The filo wrapped Brie was a great appetizer. The only disappointment was the chocolate soufflé which taste more like a semi-dry and dense cake. We ended up eating only the ice cream. Crystal was apologetic and took the soufflé off the check. Very professional place that seems genuinely concern with their guest’s happiness. I like this place! I will have to come back again and hopefully it maintains this high level of standards. BTW, Crystal is a terrific server.

Came here for lunch yesterday with my fellow office workers and was pleasantly surprised for my first visit. To start off, customer service for our lunch was great! I wasn’t able to catch the names of the two gentlemen serving our table, but they were very responsive to our requests which made the experience that much more pleasant. For appetizers, we went with the calamari and filo wrapped baked brie. From what my coworkers told me, the calamari with the peppers was delicious. My favorite had to be the baked brie with the balsamic syrup! The balsamic syrup was just the thing I needed to contrast against the taste of the melted brie. For the main course, I went with the grilled flat iron steak. I was slightly disappointed here because I had requested my steak to be cooked medium rare, but what I received looked to be medium well/well done. Looking at some of the photos of the steak posted on Unilocal,my steak was definitely a deep brown with very little pink rather than the pinks and reds shown here. Despite that small mishap, I did enjoy the meal. For dessert, we shared the crème brûlée, the cheesecake, and an apple gallette(sp?). All three were delicious and certainly something to be had again. I’ll be sure to keep this place in mind when considering where to go for a good meal.

I’m completely unfamiliar with the area around here but drove past Murphy St. on the way back to my hotel after work last night around 6pm and noticed a wide variety of restaurants. After returning to the hotel and deciding to go out to eat rather than eat hotel bar food, I walked the ¼ mile to Murphy St and checked out all of the restaurant options– with no cell service(WEIRD!) I decided on Tarragon based on the apparent ambiance & the menu posted outside. Nice, low-key yet buzzing with conversation, nice lighting, not too harsh, and I grabbed a seat in the bar area right away with no wait. My server recommended the clam chowder(soup special of the day), so I ordered a bowl & a caesar salad. The salad was great, garlicky croutons and fresh shaved parmesan with a couple of tomato wedges as well. The clam chowder was fantastic and fresh! I finished every bite of both. Prices were reasonable, as well. Service was great. Great little find on a Tuesday night, if I end up staying in Sunnyvale again next time I’m out this way for work, I would walk over again for a nice dinner.

Sweet potato fries? Sweet potato fries! Catering at work again. And they were timely so points for not being hangry. Menu: — Sweet tater fries — These didn’t taste fried per usual fries. They were a bit soggy, but actually had the sweet potato taste to them. More like thin cut sweet taters in a bit of oil.(With honey mustard btw) — Stuffed mushies — I love mushies! These were actually quite little. I’m a bit biased by my love of this particular veggie. — Veggie Parm — Oh my! This may have been one of the best veg parms I’ve ever had. Why? Only slightly overly oily. I ALWAYS have problems with overly oily dishes of veggies with pasta, but this one cut it close to an actually decent amount of oil. Great veggies with GRILLED zucchini, eggplant, squash, and even an actual variety of mushrooms. And also cheese which tasted super fresh(raise your hand if you hate that crusty cheese). — Bread — It was bread. Didn’t taste amazingly fresh. — Salad — Is salad is salad. This one was nothing special except it did have romaine and mixed lettuce along with tomatoes and onions. — Non veg so I can’t speak to — Cajun Jambalaya and Chick Breast Marsala In summary, I went back for seconds on veggie parm which never happens and it wasn’t amazingly oily(which never happens by my standards.) Therefore, good lunch.

My team at google went here for a teammates bday for lunch. We were so excited because the menu looked delicious! But when we got there, our hopes were let down right away. The restaurant itself is nice and pretty, but then they had these cheap, one page paper menus that were stained and wrinkled and dirty. I used to work I the restaurant biz and much prefer laminated so you can wipe them down so guests are not touching nasty stuff from the hundreds who touched the menu before. The server looked liked a deer in headlights and the service was one of the slowest I’ve ever experienced which is ridiculous because it was Wed at 11:30am and dead. I looked over at the kitchen a couple of times and the waiter was looking at the food looking really confused and a couple of teammates commented that as well. They didn’t bring out bread while we were waiting. We were starving and I had to ask the waiter for it. We ordered appetizers and the mushrooms were pretty good but not the best I’ve had. I didn’t touch the bread or tarragon fries cause I was staying low carb that day but the others said it was good, nothing special. My boss ordered the prawn salad and an hour later it seemed, she was brought the ahi salad. When we told the waiter, instead of taking ownership, he kind of blamed my boss saying he though she pointed to the ahi and in unison, we both said«she/I didn’t point to the menu, we told you what we wanted». I just don’t like when people don’t own up and blame the customer for heir mistake. We nibbled on the ahi salad until he brought out the prawn salad to-go. The ahi salad looked great but I had the ahi and it was ok — again, I e had much better elsewhere and I love ahi! My coworker who is vegetarian didn’t have gray things to say about her lasagna. Overall, everyone was«meh» about their food. I think the best dishes were the bday dessert(I didn’t try but the team liked it) and the mushrooms. I likely won’t return. I grew up in Sunnyvale and I know a number of fantastic restaurants like DishDash a few doors over. I have a feeling if I do return and get a better waiter, and ordered something else, my rating might be stronger. Was not the worst so I’d give it a 3 star here.

I came here with a large group on a Saturday night. The restaurant is located in the lively Murphy Street in downtown Sunnyvale, but it was empty, which is why it could accommodate our group of 10. I’m not sure why this place was empty at dinner time on a Saturday night, but the food was good. The waitress was prompt and had no problem doing separate checks. The drinks were overpriced and full of ice, but delicious. I had the sunny margarita, a margarita with pomegranate juice. The hummus comes with flatbread that is made at the time of order, so it takes about 20 minutes. I wish I knew they made it crispy, like pita chips, because I prefer softer bread. The hummus was homemade and not too oily. It had the texture of homemade hummus and was well seasoned. The braised short ribs were delicious and a generous portion. The mashed potatoes were whipped well and the perfect complement to the short ribs. For large groups, they charge 19% gratuity. Not sure why this place was a ghost town, but I’d definitely go back, at least to try out their happy hour.

Stopped by here for a going away party for a director at my company, and for my friend’s dad(same guy!). Anyways, I found this to be a very tidy restaurant that served great appetizers(I didn’t have any main dishes since I was there for a going-away party) and really had a great atmosphere.

Voltaria? Sim, mas com expectativa mediana

Pros: –Can seat large groups –Plenty of free parking near the Macy’s down the street –Conserves water(aka you ask to have water so none is wasted) –Attentive staff –Salad(produce) was fresh Cons: –Paella lacked the signature«crust» and was more like overcooked Spanish rice –Colleague had 3 bean salad and it was unusually heavy on the basil –The host was not welcoming(couldn’t discern if it was rude or aloof) Overall the experience was just average for the price. I loved the quaintness of the location and the fact they were able to accommodate a large group. The server and wait staff were friendly and attentive(aside from the host).

I felt like our server needed a hug yesterday. Maybe he was just having an off day. I know that large groups of 10 – 15 can be a pain(and sometimes loud) but our group is relatively easy going. The happy hour is a good deal… Not so hot items: Fries(«garlic» and sweet potato) I would pass on Wings– would also pass on those Favorite items: Brie plate — that was my favorites it was perfect. Flatbreads– mushroom and onion was awesome. Salmon Appetizer Bruschetta Sliders Great bar/wine list for folks Will be back eventually.
