If you need to feed your Chinese food craving, this place is great! I lived close so got food from here a number of times and was never disappointed. I always got good service, the food was always reliable and exactly what I ordered and was always yummy! They have a good menu. I will definitely be keeping this place as my go-to Chinese food, more reasonable prices than some other bigger restaurants. Good service, good traditional Chinese food, definitely recommend!

King Wah has been a childhood staple for members of our community church for years. Their food is fresh and delicious. The facility is a little run-down and it would probably be a better dining experience if the service was faster but overall, its the next best go-to Chinese restaurant in the Sunnyvale area.

Service was slow, the food was just«ok» … I think you’ll have to actually have a standard base line. If we give KoiPalace a 4.5 star, this place is a 1.5 star. It is clean, and price is just reasonable … about a 15% more than what same food quality in Milpitas would be but this is Sunnyvale. If there are other choices. .I won’t come back again. However, at first check in for Unilocal you’ll get a coupon.

The food is amazing! We over ordered but worth it! We got beef chow fun, walnut shrimps, combination fried rice, crab meat westlake beef soup, mapo tofu, and everything was really good. We will come back :) Oh and the potstickers were really good too.

Just tried this place and can officially say it’s my new go-to chinese food restaurant. The only problem I had was they accidently misunderstood one of my orders, so make sure to have them repeat your order back to you before picking up.

This has been my family’s number one pick for Chinese food for years. And it keeps getting better! For ambiance, it is just okay, and it looks nicer now after it got a bit of an upgrade and makeover recently. But I don’t go for the ambiance – I go for the food! It is delicious! My favorites are the chow fun, Westlake beef soup, salty fish and chicken hot pot, chicken salad, honey pecan prawns, eggplant beef… I could go on. But what seals the deal is that King Wah will cook dishes using gluten free soy sauce, which makes them number one in this gluten-free girl’s book.

Excellent Cantonese restaurant. It is a little off the main downtown area, but the food is superb. We usually order ahead of time and take it to go. One tip — if you are like me and don’t like to bite into ginger, remember to request their congee without it. :)

Good tasting Cantonese Chinese Food if you happen to be in the Sunnyvale area. Not too expensive but affordable and very tasty as well. My friend took me here yesterday afternoon and we have a blast. Typical Chinese food and the menu as where as you find it and it’s not packed with people because we ate at around 1:00PM way after the lunch crowd was gone. The bill came to @ 24.00 Tax and tip already included. I told my friend we should repeat eating here and he said cool so we’re planning to eat here again soon. I highly recommend this place!

Coming from the East Coast, I’d always heard about great Chinese restaurants in California. This was my first experience of something extraordinary. I ordered one of my favorites: beef chow fun with black bean sauce. It was better than I’ve ever had — normally when I get chow fun, it’s extremely salty, but King Wah’s didn’t have that problem and all the veggies tasted fresh and delicious. Maybe it’s just that King Wah uses no MSG, but whatever they do, they need to keep doing it! I’m so happy that this is a 10 minute walk from my home. King Wah is definitely a new favorite!

I like it. The shrimp with mixed vegetables uses quality ingredients and tastes fresh. The food was prepared quickly for lunch take out and the counter staff was friendly. They’re actually using pretty tasty shrimp in this dish which isn’t the case for all places. There is easy parking right in front including a couple of 12 minute spots. I’ll mention as well that they honored the Unilocal first time check in discount on my less than $ 10 dish, which also isn’t the case at many places. So there’s lots going for this place which looks great for a healthy lunch at a reasonable price.

I’ve been coming here for years, before the renovation, and I’ve always liked it. Just something about the food screams comfort food for me. Typically if it’s my wife and me or another person or couple, we’ll get one of the two dinners– the Canton or the Mandarin. You get plenty of food and though at times the pace at which the dishes come out can be a little funky, you’re typically not hurting for food at any point in service. The food is always fresh and tastes good. I’m incredibly partial to the won ton and wor won ton soups and I like the pork fried rice quite a bit. Other favorites include the cashew chicken and especially the ma po tofu. I will order just the ma po tofu and white rice if I’m looking to grab something on the way home just for me. My wife likes the sweet and sour pork. I can’t find anything here that’s disagreeable and most things are pretty damn good. The service can sometimes be snappier and things like the kung pao chicken aren’t the best representation the dish, but the rest of the food and service are up to par and offset the small things.

What does an auto repair shop, a karaōke bar and a liquor store have in common? They all share the same street front as King Wah, two short blocks down from hustling and bustling Murphy street, heart of old downtown Sunnyvale. King Wah has been around for a long time –back in the ages of my first marriage in the previous century. A large group of us Asians used to all play tennis late on Friday nights at Sunnyvale tennis center, and then head on over to King Wah in the early 1980s –which goes to show how old I am! Back then the place had a menu in English for ordering from the table, and on the wall were the specials of authentic Chinese food in Cantonese. So if you wanted that authentic food, you needed to ask for a translator! The place is still a hole in the wall, with virtually nothing on the bare white walls, amid vinyl chairs and plain tables more befitting of a cafeteria than a restaurant. My second wife comes with me on a Friday night. Place is empty except for a few tables with non Asians. Not a good sign for an Asian restaurant, when the primary customers are white! We get served promptly by the cute college age daughter, with a smile on her face. My kind of place! I order the $ 8 combination fried rice, the $ 9.50 combination chow mein, and the beef with asparagus, as the wife is a big asparagus fan. About 7 minutes later our meals come. So service is good, even if the ambiance leaves something to be desired. The combination fried rice comes with pork, shrimp, peas, carrots, onions and egg. It’s a bit on the bland side, with not much flavor, and rice too soft. Large serving enough for 4. The asparagus with beef is also a bit of a downer, as the asparagus is not in season, even if advertised at the top of the menu on the wall, and is as thin as chopsticks –not the way you want them. The beef is on the tough side, and need to be marinated more so that I don’t have to use my teeth to tug them apart with my fork. Medium size serving for 2. The combination chow mein pork is cooked Hong Kong style over a high gas heated wok, so that the noodles are dried to a crisp, and soaked in a heavy gravy with chicken, pork and 2 prawns, bok choy. Huge serving, but my wife and I slurp if up totally, it is that good! 20% off with the Unilocal app on your smart phone, $ 15 minimum purchase with credit card on a sign prominently displayed next to the cashier. We come back a second time again on a Friday evening. We get the combination chow mein again, and also the $ 9 war won ton soup, and the $ 11.50 shrimp with mixed vegetables. The war won ton soup comes with bamboo shoots, carrots, spinach, baby corn, chicken, pork, 2 shrimp in a bowl for 4. Not much flavor in the broth nor the chicken, which is not fresh. The shrimp with mixed vegetables has 10 shrimp, which are almost prawns in size, and about an 1 ’ in length. It comes with celery, bamboo shoots, broccoli, cabbage, in the same sauce as combination chow mein –a good dish but overpriced for what you get. The place has a 20% off when you show your Unilocal app on your smart phone, but as was explained to me the second time I visited the place, you are only suppose to use it once as a first time discount –how do you think they have stayed in business all these years? I come back a third time, and order only the combination chow mein Hong Kong style of course, for take out. It is to die for! All three times I get home, and drink a ton of juice afterwards. As my first wife from Hong Kong explained to me, the Asians don’t eat here anymore as they use too much MSG. Nothing wrong with MSG, except that it causes me to drink a lot of liquid afterwards, which leads to me going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. So the moral of the story is that my ex-wife is sometimes right, which is why I sometimes get into trouble when I disobey her, and pay the consequences with a disrupted good night’s sleep. So if you go to King Wah, expect to drink a king size amount of water, afterwards

Delicious food that reminds me of meals we used to enjoy growing up. Plenty of items to select from including lunch plates. It’s a family run place. I’ve been going here since the mid 90’s and the food is consistently very good. This is Sum See Mai Fun that I often order.

As other Unilocalers stated, you get 20% off if you check in. Honestly, my rating for them is more towards the food rather than the service. There was no service really, but it was adequate enough to get our food and beverages. There was no rude attitude, it was more complacent than anything else. I was glad I ran into this place. I was angry because I was starving and I almost ran people off the road trying to get a meal. We headed to Bön Chon and they were closed. I totally forgot they closed on Tuesday. I was not a happy camper. My boyfriend hid behind his computer while I tried to find another acceptable restaurant that will quench my hunger. I was craving soy and rice. Therefore, I ended up wanting to eat Chinese. I used Siri and she directed us to this place, just in the nick of time — I was about to go Hulk all up in my car. We sat down, was greeted promptly and within minutes I was eating food. Thank goodness for Chinese restaurants and their ability to produce food faster than most fast food restaurants. I really liked their beef and honey walnut prawns Their food was surprisingly tasty, considering that the outside of the building would led you to believe otherwise. It was satisfying, hot, and not oily. The only thing that I didn’t like was the fact that the wontons were flavorless. Seriously, I cannot even tell you what the filling was. Also, I didn’t think it was cooked fairly well. Everything else was good, just don’t get the wontons. Another thing, don’t touch the salt/pepper shakers unless you want your hands to be sticky.

I came to King Wah because I had a manicure appointment next door and was craving for some Chinese food. The restaurant doesnt look impressive in terms of the décor, but the food was definitely decent and authentic! Not your Americanised(sweet) Chinese food! I wish I knew about King Wah earlier. I used to go to HK Saigon at Lawrence to get my Chinese food, but King Wah is as good, as much cheaper! Definitely coming back here again!
