Delicious food. I ordered off their lunch menu so the deal was awesome. $ 10 for appetizer, entrée and a coffee or soda. Their rice with the little noodle things were nice and buttery. They meat was tender and juicy. Since it was the lunch menu, they only gave me 3 pieces of meat versus 5 but whatever. I was so full, I had to force myself to eat the rest. I would definitely go back because there’s other things in the menu I’d like to try

If I had to rate the restaurant a few years ago when I first came here, I would have given 2 stars. Good thing I didn’t review back then. This is why I didn’t go back ever since because I had a bad first experience. You know they always remember the first time(ask George Castanza). But now I’m curious. I’m not«Curious George» but I’m just curious about trying something different. So my neighbor and I decided to dine here recently. We had a wonderful time eating and chatting and of course I never leave home without my iPhone so I could enjoy snapping too, so we could show our hubbies what they missed. We ordered lamb shanks, I think if you go to a Turkish restaurant, order their specialties because they know how to make them better but that’s just my guess. Prior to having our lamb shank, we shared grape leaves appetizer, nice! Our waitress is from Turkey. So OK, we had some authentic food with a touch of an authentic and pleasant waitress. The restaurant was pretty crowded, that explains they’re doing pretty good here. The setting is pretty fine, not very fine but between casual to fine. My husband and I pass by the restaurant all the time but never made a stop here. I think we’ll come here someday just for him to try the shank, at least once. I’m not a lamb eater nor meat eater. I would try once in a blue moon. The chef made the shank pretty good, tender and juicy. We both couldn’t finish the meal because it’s pretty big so we had half to go. The bill wasn’t too bad, no shaky hands during payment, so it was acceptable. Now this visit was worth it. You can’t go wrong with lamb shanks at this restaurant, order it! Happy to raise the stars.

Ignore the bad reviews. They were written by crazy people. Service is super and friendly. Food is excellent across the board. Great restaurant, run by great people. Get the Kafta. Get anything. Wonderful place we will come out from Manhattan again and again!

I have been here a few times and it’s been consistent every time. The waiters are super nice, friendly and always a great helpful. The food is delicious and plenty and the bread is fresh and really amazing. They participate in Sunnyside Eats which is a greate value. We always share appetizers and absolutely love their hummus(super fresh and fluffy) and the Lebni are my favorite. Baba Ganoush is good but not outstanding as the other two. I ordered the Iskender Kebab which I loved and most of the table had ed the doner kabab. Thier rice is not gluten free(it has some pasta in it as well) so make sure to request a substitution or more veggies to compensate for it. r

Food is semi decent, the service is HORRIBLE!!! I came here with a bunch of friends one day and the bald waiter and the beard one immediately started laughing and mocking us the moment we sat down. How rude! They made the whole experience there horrible. As for food: I had a Chicken Kabab, which was okay. It lacked flavors and could have been more cooked. My friend ordered the Chicken Sauté and it was not good. It tasted like marina sauce. Service was horrible like I previously stated. Would I recommend this place? No. And I would not come back here again. They need new staff here.

One of the a few quality Turkish restaurants in the area. Turkish grill is your better option if you’re looking to do a sit down meal as its a nicer environment but also slightly higher priced. If you are new to Turkish food they have an appetizer sampler that gives you a taste of various spreads and dips. The shepherd salad with chicken kebab is always my go to entrée for a healthy, but very satisfying, option.

Food was amazing and not too expensive, we had first humus and eggplant salad and after that 2 kebabs. Service was good and professional, always asking to refill water and clean the table. I would definitely recommend this place.

I’ve eaten at this restaurant quite a few times and the food is consistently fresh & delicious. Great atmosphere and nice & friendly service. My only disappointment is that the prices seem to keep increasing. Here is what we ordered: Mixed Appetizer: ~ Lebini(thick homemade yogurt w/walnuts, garlic and dill) ~ Humus(mashed chick peas blended w/fresh garlic, tahini and herbs) ~ Eggplant Salad(smoked eggplant w/peppers, onion, parsley, fresh dill and lemon juice) ~ Tabuleh(bulgur wheat w/parsley, scallions and a touch of olive oil) ~ Piyaz(white beans w/onion, parsley with olive oil and vinaigrette dressing) ~ Babaganush(smoked purée eggplant, sesame oil, lemon juice and a hint of garlic) Sigara Borek(light pastry dough stuffed w/a blend of feta cheese and fresh herbs). Homemade Manti(Turkish style dumplings. A light dough stuffed w/seasoned, ground lamb and onions; steamed to perfection; seved with garlic yogurt and special buttered tomato sauce). Hunkar Begendi(Smoked eggplant w/chopped lamb, tomatoes, onions & peppers). Chicken Adana(Ground chicken flavored w/red bell peppers, lightly seasoned w/paprika and grilled on skewers. Served w/rice, grilled peppers, tomatoes & seasoning).

So sorry to hear on any bad reviews about my favorite restaurant in Sunnyside. I was buying the food there, since they open. The wait staff always very polite and very professional when I order delivery I get my order in 15 –20 min top exactly how I like it . I can recommend chicken kebabs They’re marinade it to the perfection. Absolutely great taste never dry Not so easy to achieve with a chicken cubes. :) Appetizers are great. My favorite is there house made humus. Very tasty. You just want to scope a way on a pc of bread as a ice cream. Highly recommended. Great food and service! !

Had dinner here with family and friends this past week for the first time. The food was good and the white Turkish wine I ordered was great too! We ordered cacik, hummus, findik pide, shepard salad, sigara borek, and stuffed grape leaves for apps. The cacik and salad was my favorite out of the apps. I ordered the falafel and hummus dish for my meal which was delish! The hummus was different than what I am used to and make myself but it was good. Everybody else had ordered manti(think Turkish ravioli), and different kinds of kebab. Everybody enjoyed their meals and I’m sure we’ll be back!

Our night was ruined because of one of the waiters. There were 2 waiters, one bald chap and one with a beard. The bald one was quite pleasant and witty with a great sense of humor. The other was a straight up fucking moron. Wait~ let me explain: When we sat down the place was empty except for 1 other table. When presented with the menu I asked for some recommendations. We got the sense that he(the bearded waiter) didn’t care too much for recommending an actual good dish but rather kept up selling the pricier dishes to jack up our bill. We went from a regular baba ganoush appetizer to a full appetizer plate. From a regular lamb dish to getting the Mixed grill and from a chicken dish to get the salmon… aah salmon. Our party consisted of 2 couples and the girls weren’t really hungry, so we decided to order 3 entrees and just share. 2 of the meat entrees came out first, they weren’t bad but nothing special. Then the salmon came out. looked kinda dry and pale white for salmon. We each forked into it and it was absolutely rancid. Rotten. I wave our waiter over(bearded) to let him know the fish is bad. Immediately a stupid condescending smirk surfaced on his face. «how do you know its bad»?, «in what way you are judging the fish is not fresh?» At this point everyone at our table is quite puzzled(I really had to think hard about this one). In all my years at ANY restaurant I have never been questioned to how I knew the food wasn’t fresh. At this point I should have whipped out my ‘freshness police’ badge but I wanted to remedy the situation without blowing my cover. So I told him, well sir I can tell this fish isn’t fresh by me… PUTTINGITINMYMOUTH, to which he just laughs off. He then says the kicker: «Next time I’ll know not to offer you Asians fish»… *jaw drop* what?! WAITWHAT?! at this point I’m even more perplexed… In what context?! That we «Asians» can or cannot tell if fish is rotten?! Or are you saying my ‘freshness police’ badge is a farce?! Yea the jig is up!.. I’d hate to disappoint you but us «Asians» can tell when fish is rotten numb-nut. Besides being blatantly racist. this moron of a waiter ridiculed me as he tried to feed us rotten fish… how on earth did you even get a job? The cherry on top? The rotten fish we were served wasn’t offered to be taken off the bill. But we were offered free baklava! You know… to cleanse our palate of the rotten fish we just had.

I am updating my original review after communicating with the owner. We had a good exchange and I do believe my initial perception of the erroneous check item was incorrect. The owner was gracious and humble in his explanation. I respect that and I will give this place another try hoping for a more pleasant experience next time. Food is basic at best. Nothing outstanding or original being offered here. So why go here? Certainly not for the exceptional servers. Their presence can feel a bit intrusive and, when I was there last, one of the waiters chose to implement quite a stringent seating policy. Last time I went there, I was with my 70 year mother. It was 2pm on a Friday afternoon. As usual, the place was virtually empty. We had a choice of 10 empty tables to pick from: six of which were 4 seater tables, and three were 2 seater tables. We opted to sit at one of the 4 seater tables, specifically because the two seaters are very cramped. As we moved toward one of the empty larger tables, we were stopped by one of the waiters who told us we could not sit there because it was a table for 4 and we were 2(NOTE: there was already a Turkish couple sitting at a 4 seater already). Knowing that this place is NEVER full or even busy, I explained why we’d preferred to sit at the larger table and asked if the waiter could make an exception. He refused. So I kiddingly said«I’ll bet your tip the no one comes in and sits at any of these tables during our meal.» And guess what. no one did. Of course I did not stiff the waiter. I left him a normal tip. After communciating with the owner, I believe this situation was more likely an isolated incident than an ongoing policy. Based on my decision to give this place another chance, I will further update my review after the next visit.

Ordered delivery and it was lightning fast We got the mixed grill and small cold app sampler. Both awesome. The small cold app sampler is a must have — awesome array of dipping sauces with a loaf of deliciously warm freshly baked bread. The mixed grill allowed us to sample everything — the beef and chops were a bit tough, but i HIGHLY recommend the Doner Kabab aka lamb gyro meat. Best lamb I’ve ever tasted. Overall very reasonably priced for awesome food.

Came here last night for dinner. The staff was very accommodating from the minute we walked in. It was a little chilly outside and with the AC still blasting it was quite cold inside and they were able to turn it down for us. Service came very quickly with water and the fresh bread and olive oil. Ordered falafel as an appetizer and it was very crispy on the outside without that greasy and fried feeling. For the entrees we ordered the kofte and shish kebab and a side order of the labmahcun. The kofte was very well seasoned and tasty. The shish kebab was grilled to medium well and was perfect as well. The lamb flavor was still there and the meat wasn’t tough at all. The lahmahcun was good, but could have been better. The ones I’ve had before had more of a lamb flavor than a tomato flavor and I was expecting a bit of the same. Plus the way they stacked the cut up pieces on top of one another made the dough soggy. Besides that, the meal was delicious and very satisfying.

Since the waitress remembered me as soon as I stepped in to the cozy place, I think I can consider myself a «regular» here at Turkish Grill. Their menu is, as Turkish as it gets! Many choices from Meze’s to Kebabs and Lahmacun to Pides… I’ve never had seafood here. So I can’t comment on that!!! But why would anyone go for a fish when you can have Adana Kebab, Baby Lamb Shank or Pide with Pastirami… On a chilly day in windy Sunnyside, I would start with a Lentil Soup. You may want to add some Hot Red Turkish Peppers to feel the warmth in your throat as much as in your bones. From Meze’s, Humus and Eggplant with Sauce is my personal favs, and you can’t call it a Turkish Dinner without a Shepherd Salad… Remember to slow down on the delicious home made Pide Bread… Make sure you will have space for your main… From hot Meze’s I recommend Findik Lahmacun, Sigara Borek, Arnavut Cigeri(Calfs Liver)… As main course Special Beyti Kebab is a must have! Chicken Kebab may be a good choice for a conservative first timer to Turkish Cuisine. Iskender is great when is available, made with in house«Doner»(very similar to Greek Gyro). Stuffed Cabbage or Hunkar Begendi will entertain anyone who is open to new tastes… If you wanted to go to the Pizza Parlor but your friends or family dragged you here, try any type of Pides and you will say thank you to your leader… Deserts go great with a warming Glass of Tea.(chai) Baklava is the one your grandma stuffed in your mouth well before you could chew if you were raised in Turkey… and it’s a classic. Kazandibi is everything that Baklava isn’t. So baklava didn’t appeal to you, you will love Kazandibi… And finally if you can only have one desert Kunefe must be it… Crunchy shredded dough and hot melted cheese dressed with honey and walnuts… I know it’s dreamy… Enjoy!!!

Three and a half stars. Will be four next time around, now that we know what to order. Service is good. Water plentiful, delicious bread, oil needs salt. Good selection of Turkish wine. Grilled shrimp was fantastic. Perfectly cooked with grilled veggies. Hubby had mixed grill. Kebab meat was delicious. Lamb chops were small and thin, doner(gyro) meat was seemingly boiled and bland. Baklava was good and Turkish coffee was just right. We have Turkish friends and we will be back with them

This place will never cease to amaze me. We’ve been getting the yogurtlu doner and it’s insanely delicious. It’s almost like a deconstructed variation of a meat pizza(at least that’s what your burps smell like). It’s a lamb based dish that’s served on top of pieces of bread with yogurt and tomato sauce. Just get it– it’s heaven. Also, their babaganoush is still on point. And, we discovered the parking lot across the street under the 7 which makes going there in crappy weather a breeze.

I’ve been to this place a couple of times. The food tastes scrumptious! I usually order the shrimp kebab. The rice has a buttery favor to it. Tonight, I ordered the salmon entrée. Placed on a purple radicchio leaf, the potato and mixed salad taste amazing! Even though the filet tasted a bit dry, I still give it thumbs up for presentation. I found the wait staff very attentive and welcoming. The wait staff presents fresh bread before the meal. Located on Queens boulevard, after lunch/dinner you can roam around the neighborhood. I believe this place a gem waiting to be found.

Highly recommended by a bunch of Turkish friends. I never had the time to come here and I’ve been wanting to check it out and finally got a chance. Street parking, small restaurant but super cute with attentive service. I absolutely love Turkish food, I grew up going to Patterson, NJ for Turkish which culminated to a vacation a few yrs back to Turkey. Delicious food, and good variety of street-ish foods to plates. Shepherd salad is standard, great apps and I love they have app sizes for pide and lamachun. Great plates, mixed grill-lamb was outstanding. Will def come again.

For the last several years, Turkish Grill has been the forefront of the Turkish dining scene in Sunnyside. While the hood remained sleepy over the last decade, it was Turkish Grill that brought in some bells and whistles many of other Turkish/Lebanese spots couldn’t compete with. While the nearby competition has practically caught up or narrowed the gap, it should be noted that Turkish Grill’s food is still solid. For folks who are used to hearty portions, you won’t find that here. The plates themselves are smaller, the prices are higher, and the presentation is something they focus on. With their décor, semi-cheesy music and cosy ambiance, the vibe is very date like. Ideal for couples but certainly not shy from groups, which is usually held in their next door room. Service seems professional, though a bit cold. I’ve heard moans and groans in the past when some of the dining companions turn down a glass of wine or a more expensive platter. Thankfully, there is more than enough of them. They do a decent job at refilling waters, handling orders, but often times swipe plates off the table a little too soon. Let’s talk food. The mixed appetizer is a popular choice for folks looking for lots of tastes. It’s one plate of six almost ice cream scoops of different mashes ranging from hummus to baba ganoush. I am an advocate of the kefte, aka the Turkish meatball, along with the mixed grill because the other plates tend to skimp with the meat(I’m looking at you Doner Kebab). Nonetheless, one will also likely enjoy the falafel and gyro options as well but not for $ 10 – 14. They have outdoor seating in the warm weather months and their bathrooms make me feel like I’m in someone’s apartment. The window that peers into the nearby apartment complexes don’t help either.
