Amazing spot to watch a game(6BIG tvs!). Staff is super friendly. Big tvs. Great sound system. I took a point off because the loaded fries were basically nacho sauce on fries with some bacon sprinkles on. That offends my Irish ancestors. But the wings were great. BBQ wings were perfect. Saucy and crunchy. The regular one were crunchy, but not spicy at all(maybe they can make it spicier on request). But I’d definitely come back here again. Their burger looks amazing and the table next to us ordered it and said it was one of the best burgers they had.

The service is friendly, the beer is cold, and the bar food is your typical bar food. If you want to watch(and listen to) a game, come early so you can request the game you want as it’s first come, first serve. We didn’t get to hear our game, but it was still a fun place.

Decent spot. The owner is awesome. Staff is great too. Nice selection of beers on tap. Came during Oktoberfest so they didn’t have their regular menu going, but would like to check out the food next time I’m in. Not sure what the usual crowd is like, but considering the special event that place was packed and super loud. Also a pretty sweet urinal video game in the mens room.

**3.5 Stars** I like this place. I recently moved to the neighborhood, so i didnt know it before the remodel, but it seems like a good neighborhood spot. Tough location though — it’s really, otherwise all residential around here(Skillman gets foot traffic, but further down the street) — so i’ve got to imagine that’s hard for business. This place always has a good bunch of neighborhood folks in here. If I’m going to generalize, it’s probably a reflection of the owners — firefighters — and seems like that type of hard-working crowd. There’s certainly nothing wrong with that, but if they wanted to grow the business, without changing the vibe too much — get more of the white-collar folks, young families, etc, i’d give them a few suggestions: –put tables in front(outside) of the bar. not everyone wants to spend their meal staring at TVs. It’s great during football season, but it’s nice to have an alternative(in addition to outdoor seating in the back of the bar). –bring in some craft beers. Dogfish(!), brooklyn brewery, geez even Sam Adams. Just something so that i can look beyond Bud Light and Heineken. –advertise. on my facebook page. or my twitter feed. –make one menu item GREAT. Create an AMAZING burger. Something on the menu that sets this place apart, foodwise. Otherwise…thanks for being in the neighborhood… really nice to have a solid, affordable place in the area.

I had a great time at this bar in the outdoor area. The waitress was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was great on a weekend night. I saw them handle a group of around 20 with ease. The fire house theme has been done pretty well. The urinal video game was pretty cool. What a great way to ensure people don’t miss. I am surprised that you don’t see that more often.

Adorable backyard and great beer. Menu is very affordable and I really enjoyed the burnt brussell sprouts. The«Ghost Pepper Challenge» is no joke. When I was there, some silly out of towners(Bostonites!) thought it would be funny to do «shots» of the hot sauce. They then blamed management when they couldn’t take the heat. It’s ghost pepper, what did people think is going to happen? Management seemed to handle it professionally. My husband, who loves spicy food, tried the ghost pepper grilled cheese and really liked it. I had the grilled chicken sandwich which was good, and we shared the Irish potato skins which were very yummy! Anyway, it’s a very cute, affordable, friendly place. Totally recommend particularly for its backyard.

I been meaning to try this bar since its in my neighborhood and after seeing it in the show Bar Rescue. The bar it’s nice and has a nice outdoor patio. I didn’t get to eat just came for drinks and I just wished they had more than one bartender since it took forever to get a drink. It wasn’t the bartenders fault she was working hard there were just way too many patrons for her.

They really did a good job on this place! Which is awesome, because this location used to look maaaad sinister. It used to be a concrete building with a satellite dish on the roof, looking like some sort of child’s drawing of a mad scientist lab or some type of villianous lair. So… they had a challenge. It involves Ghost Chilis. Its like supposed to be one of the spiciest peppers in the world or some thing. Whatever, right? NOPE. Nope again. This was the worst i mean WORST pain in my life. The Bloody Mary«Hotshot» was easy enough, but the sandwich was cleverly devised using thick hero bread, which they TOASTED, so that you couldn’t try to race through it. Every bite would squirt that sauce out onto your mouth and i mean gushin, bro. Imagine like an orgy in hell in your mouth and everyone just jizzed at the same time. I ain’t no chump tho– I beat every last bite and muscled through it. But WHAT? They ran outta T-shirts. NOTSHIRTS?! WUT but it doesn’t stop there… about an hour later come the cramps… then the hot spray dumps the mighty mighty boosh. It felt like i birthed a medieval dragon. My O-ring be swole like a Cronut. It lasted DAYS, son. DAYZ. Otherwise, the menu items sold for human consumption is pretty spankin good — like above typical Bar fare. The burgers were juicy, they had this awesome awesome brussel sprout chips in a cheese sauce, but the WINGS. Ho damn the Wings be Mazeballs. Its chargrilled and moist and served with a ranch cucumber dip. Beer selection is good on tap 6 point and other craft beers. This type of cuisine and drink, coupled with the mason jar mugs is like having all that hipster style LESS the neon tank top wearing, brooklyn beardo, handlebar moustachio havin, grown-ass adults ridin tiny skateboard, ironic Wayfarer Glasses sportin, Apple Store line waitin, Saturday morning cartoon tattoo having freakshow in our own hood. The bartender, the chef working the grill, were fantastic. They came by to joke around and help us out with waters, napkins, you name it. i want my T-shirt goddamn it.

So after watching this bar get rescued on BARRESCUED we just had to come and see it for ourselves. We went on a Sunday at 2pm and sat outside. It had a small crowd which worked well for a Sunday. The waitress was very pleasant and recommended drinks that were on the show :-) The food was inexpensive and delicious. The music was not too loud, for out doors, but it can still be heard. I will definitely come back on a Friday night. So for 2 appetizers, 4 drinks and meals we only spent $ 60.00! Not bad at all.

JACK’S FIREDEPT. DESERVES A 5-STAR RATING… I was in town on a business trip and was looking for somewhere nearby my hotel to watch game 7 of the NHL game between my team the Washington Capitals and the New York Islanders. To my surprise, I was almost walking distance from Jack’s Fire Dept., which I remember seeing on Bar Rescue. The Caps were up 1 – 0 by the time I arrived(via taxi). Hence, I was a bit tepid when I walked in the door. The first person I laid eyes on happened to be one of the owners, Brian. I said to him, «Aren’t you the guy I saw on Bar Rescue?» Long story short: Brian, his bartender and Chef Cliff made my night one to remember. The beer selection was great and so were the prices; the chicken wings were damn good. I tried my best to get the recipe for the chef’s glazed wings, which were perfect! Even after I told Brian I was there to root against his team, I was made to feel like one of the guys! There is not a bad seat in the house. At least a dozen large flat screen TVs circled the joint, including the largest one mounted above the entrance. The restroom was clean, as was the floor and kitchen area.(Yes, I pay attention to all that stuff.) Bottom line: I have experienced hospitality on this level only from places like Ritz Carlton. I am NOT kidding. So, please take my advice and stop by Jack’s Fire Dept. as soon as you can and as often as you want. BTW, the local team won. In the end, I won, too. As Arnold Schwarzenegger used to say, «I’ll be back.»

I saw this bar a few months Ago as it’s around the block from my brothers… I mentioned to him now nice it was and he let me know it was from Bar Rescue. Full disclosure… Love that damn show. I want Jon Taffner to come revamp the bar in my house. So Immediately I set out to try it. Tried it out on a Friday early evening. Expecting to find a gimmicky theme bar with people who think they are too cool for school now, I knew I was totally wrong by my first drink. Theme bar, yes. Corny, not one bit. Bartender(I’m so sorry but I forgot her name) was awesome. Took the time to help me pick out a drink and i ended up trying out one from the show. DELICIOUS. Its the kind of drink you can only have one, but amazing. We didn’t eat, but food looked and smelled great. I can see into the kitchen and it looked clean and preparing fresh not frozen burgers. Outdoor area was so nice, clean and packed with a fundraiser. Here is their one downfall. The bar is in the middle of nowhere. A good 3 blocks from the 7 and not near anything else. All in all great local place, that I will def be back. Mr. Taffner would be proud!

While waiting for a friend I decided to check out a bar I seen Jon taffer and bar rescue fixed up and it looks really good on skillman and 40th street. The inside was just as good and it was great to see rangers fans root the team on. Now as for the service it is good when it comes to the drinks it was great but waiting on my burger was longer than I liked but my eyes was on the hockey game instead of the clock. My meal was really good and I am gonna come back

After seeing this bar on Bar Rescue, I knew I had to try this place out sooner or later. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place out after spending the day in Queens. The staff was super friendly and courteous. We had nice mixed cocktails to start. For apps, we decided to try the Brussels sprouts chips which were yummy. I was feeling extra ballsy when it came to ordering my food, so I went with the jacked up grilled cheese challenge. The sandwich was outrageously spicy and almost impossible to take down. I got 75% down with a lot of motivation from my boyfriend and the staff :). I felt a great support system as this was a grueling challenge. Next time, I will order the normal spicy grilled cheese sandwich and am sure to enjoy it. Will be coming back here again soon.

I’m surprised there haven’t been that many reviews of Jack’s since the remodel/menu revamp! Jack’s has recently been a nice go-to whenever I’ve got guests over, and they’ve always had a good time. I’m a big fan of the burnt brussels sprout chips. It’s unique and goes with the whole firehouse theme. Haven’t had the cojones to try the ghost pepper grilled cheese yet, let alone to take their famed challenge. Maybe some day when I have to get my mind off of any real problems with my life. Misery loves company right? Also check out their signature cocktails. They have one called the Fireload that consists of BBQ bitters and cedar plank smoke.

Jacks, you are a-okay in my book. Great friendly bartender. Pumpkin beer with cinnamon-sugar rim. Out of this world Irish potato skins. Cool laid back atmosphere. Bad ass patio space. What’s not to love? Can’t wait to come back.

I stopped by w some friends recently it happen to be on St Patti’s. The place itself is not very big but it has a nice size bar w am outdoor area. We chilled by the bar & enjoyed some Green Beer & Sangria pitchers both were good & of course perfect for the occasion. With drinking there’s always room to pick on some food, we tried some Fries which were good & Quesadillas also pretty good. Prices were pretty cheap since they had specials for the night, nice atmosphere, good music & service was quick considering it was a crowded night. We enjoyed ourselves, I wouldn’t mind coming back.
