Where to even start! Since moving to Sunnyside I was very weary of the sports bar situation. However, from the moment I walked into Courtyard my weariness was no where to be found! Start to finish this place is outstanding. Beer Selection– On fleek! There’s a beer for everyone! Service– Outstanding. All barkeeps are Irish(and I become a little Irish after my staple shot of Jameo and an IPA) Reason for no fifth star: Need food! You’re allowed to bring some in, but I’d like to see some Irish flare brought to the table(ha. ha. ha)

Just happened to walk by and see the football schedule posted on the door. So we popped in for a pint and a Chelsea match. Even had a wonderful conversation with an Arsenal fan. Great place to watch a match. Barkeep was super friendly as were the patrons. Found my new neighborhood pub to watch footy on the weekends!

This was a cute little bar not far away from the 40th street stop in LIC. Several beers on tap with a full bar behind them. Notables on taps was Crispin Cider and a vast selection of Founder’s beers. There were a few TVs throughout the bar as well, so it’s a good spot to come catch games. There is no food served here, but you’re able to bring in whatever food you want. In the back there is also a selection of games(i.e. scrabble, jenga). Bring some friends, bring some food, stay for beer and games.

Buch of friends end up Saturday night here! It was packed and it was fun! We asked the bartender to switch one of the TV’s to US Open re-run on ESPN to watch Serena and he switched without a problem. We watched tennis had beer made new friends! Awesome place & it’s one of the most popular pubs in Sunnyside! They have fun organized nights karaōke, games etc. If you are hungry there is taco truck parked in front of the pub you can get food!

absolutely love this place … I’ve been coming here since 03 and it gets better every time … met some really interesting people along the way … New Years here is great … if you’re ever in the area, you’d be lucky to have Sinead as your bartender … great person with a great personality … major plus, co-owner is a Liverpool fan :)

I came here to celebrate my birthday a few weeks ago and unfortunately i haven’t had time to write a review. This bar is now one of my favorites. From start to finish they made sure my bday was special. Im grateful to the owner and bartenders for such an amazing night you can guarantee me and my friends will be back. The beer selection is phenomenal but really its the the staff is what makes this bar such a gem.

Best beer selection in Sunnyside! I am always wowed by the seasonal craft beer they have on tap, and it’s a lively atmosphere both good for groups or just a 1 – 2 person hang.

Friendly neighborhood bar typical of Sunnyside. I’ve only been here hammered after hockey so can’t comment on weekends or before 11pm, but after that the crowd seems to be calm and local. They let you bring in your own food, which usual means the taco truck outside. Have repeated.

Always ask for James, probably the most attentive and knowledgeable bartender at the spot. Great service and even gave us a little lecture on the seasonal beers.

A great place for locals and even better for smokers. The backyard is perfect to light up a cigar or cigarette. Bartenders are really cool. A completely non pretentious place. They will generally stay open after hours on weekends.

At first glance, this place looks like every other bar in the area. Dark, not the most inviting from the outside. After coming here for a Jets game, I see why it’s always packed. $ 15 buckets of beer and free wings and hot dogs. Let me repeat that. FREEWINGSANDHOTDOGS! The staff treats you like family. Will definitely be coming back :)

My husband and I are moving into Sunnyside and had some time to kill before signing our lease. We stopped in here for a quick drink and were pleasantly surprised at the beer selection. We really like beer and look for fun and new flavors all the time. We’re especially fans of Dogfish Head Brewery and when we asked which one they had on tap, the bartender stated ApriHop, which is one of our most favorites. We were there on a weekday, pretty early, so the place was not crowded or loud and our beers were $ 5 each. Courtyard also does growlers which is something we’re really looking forward to taking advantage of once we move in a few blocks away. Beer flights are also available. If you’re looking for a nice, fun bar that serves really good beer(other than Bud or Guinness) definitely try this place out. We will be coming back again and again.

After reading through the other reviews I decided to review the reviewers not the bar. Anderson C. is a 4-star douche bag. Its pretty obvious that he is racist, towards Russians and Black people. Oh no a guy asked you about the price of drinks, good thing you told us he was black… He also sounds pretty homophobic. Oh no someone brushed you with their elbow, that does sound like something a weirdo would do… Anderson I hope you find feces in your next order of whatever it is you’re about to eat and then say a bunch of critical things about online. I hope you find the feces after you’ve eaten about ¾ of it. Then I can’t wait to hear your hyper critical review of the nurses that have to put up with you as they pump your stomach. The Courtyard Ale House is cool. Anderson C. is not.

I like this place. Except, for the two what I would have assume were Russian guys based on accent and speech patterns sitting extremely within elbow space of where I was eating and talking just as invasively next to and behind me. The second guy had a few elbow brushes on my back from being so close. I wanted a massage not a elbow rub. Then during the course of the night a black dude stepped up to me asking me how much the drinks were as if I worked there. I kindly muttered how much my drink was and showed him the drinks menu so he can order. He «kindly» said«oh no I’m good», laughed and sat at the high top table directly behind me and watched me eat as the NYK vs. CLE game played on the tele. WTF? Weirdos come out at night. Never again on a Thursday that’s for sure. There was live Irish folklore music playing and I do believe this is standard on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Nice touch. Unlike the creepers I encountered. Were they trying to pick me up? Were they just being friendly? Clearly, I need to change my style because it brings all the boys(men) to the yard. 1 Matt Damon clean shave will solve that. I ordered the Delirium Tremens which is highly regarded among beer drinkers. I didn’t like it as much as I hoped especially reading so much about the light fruity taste when it hits your palate. I did get this weird I can’t put my finger on taste which was neither good or bad. This beer even comes in its own branded snifter glass which was pretty neat. Similar to what you have when you order a Stella Artois at a REAL beer bar. No gold rim though. I also ordered a Samuel Adams Merry Maker in which the taste can be described in one word… RICE. Like going to an Asian person’s house and that rice aroma hits your nostrils… yeah like that but in your mouth. Ugh. Definitely was not the best choice of beer. Unless you are into that smell/taste. I am not. Come for the live tunes, good prices on beers, and bring your own food policy with alcohol purchase. Try for a weekend though. It might be more lively.

Perfect neighborhood bar. If I lived around here, this is the place I would probably spend most of my time. They have a lot of drink special for a neighborhood bar(I mean a lot), good music selection, and they have a back area where it’s pretty cozy. Prices are decent, not noticeably cheap but not super expensive. If you need a pool table, this place does not have one but fck that shit, you know. Seriously…why can’t neighborhood bars be more like this?

Courtyard Ale House Rules! We were sent here by Salt and Fat, down the road — Thank goodness because if they hadn’t, we would never have found this place! Pro: Décor, laid back, comfortable, everyone belongs They have a TON of beers on tap They have a Flight of 5 for $ 7 option They have GAMES! Never overlycrowded, not even on St Patty’s Day! Con: We had to leave to go eat at Salt & Fat (which was 5 star delicious btw!) Would love to come back here anyday!

Imagine a world, if you will, where disco songs(while still pushing a thumping beat) were all about beer rather than dancing queens, freaking out, fevers of any kind(Saturday Night or other) or not leaving someone some way. If we lived in said world, the classic hit«I Love the Nightlife» by the Frakenstein-esque Alicia Bridges* would be re-imagined as «I Love the Courtyard». Here’s a few bars…(no pun intended) Oh I love the Courtyard I love to drink beer On Queens Boulevaaaarrrddd, oh yeah Believe me, that’s the tune you’ll be singing(and maybe doing the Hustle to) if you visit the Courtyard Ale House. Some highlights: * Very conveniently located only five minutes from Queensborough Plaza on the 7 train * Super nice bartender, Sinead, who sings and dances as well as she pulls drafts * Great beer selection, both local, domestic and imported drafts * Affordable prices and they do flights! * Friendly regulars who don’t mind chatting up a stranger(even if it is only to tell the stranger how unnatural Christine Quinn is and that she should never be mayor) This is a super nice place and it’s more fun to come here than the Y-M-C-A. ______________________________________________ *See for yourself, did she put on makeup or get punched in the face?
