Not what I expected from the other reviews. I suppose my experience was colored by the fact that I went to have breakfast outside of my aircondition-less apartment in the middle of the July heat wave, only to find that there was no airconditioning in this place either. Had some breakfast taco like thing to find it about average. Below average iced coffee.

I’m a big fan of Greenpoint Kitchen for two reasons. 1. The freshness of the food(also very affordable and quick) 2. The amazing people who work there So let’s start with one. I usually just go in for smoothies or drinks — I cannot rave enough about the mint lemonade. They squeeze the lemons and chop the mint right in front of you, and they are generous with both. It’s only lightly sweetened, and this makes it refreshing instead of heavy. I’ve had one meal here that was very good — not the best ever(hence 4 stars) but still very fresh. It was a steak fajita option, and all the ingredients were well prepared. The only downside was that it wasn’t spiced, sauced or otherwise flavored, and I felt like it needed a little kick taste wise. This place kind of has a split identity between health food and Mexican food, but it works somehow. Secondly, I have to say the guy who works there(not sure of his name) is one of the nicest people I have ever met. He always has a big smile and will ask you how you are, but not in an obsequious way you sometimes get in restaurants. When my flight got delayed and I was stuck in NYC missing a deadline, he asked me about it and sympathized. When a girl came in and was crying because she lost her cell phone, he let her borrow his to call home. Considering I’ve only been here a few times(I’m not a NYC resident) I recognize that level of kindness to be rare not just in NYC but anywhere. This is definitely an amazing place to stop by for fresh food and drinks and very nice people — give it a try!

This is an awesome spot for quick, delicious meals, especially breakfast. The egg white wrap and fresh juices always hit the spot. Come here almost daily!

I’m such a fan of this place. The food only takes about 10 minutes to come out, and you can watch it all being prepared. Everything is fresh – tortillas, avocado, lettuce, tomato, etc. – and it makes for such delicious food. You really feel you’re being served healthy food from someone’s personal kitchen. I’m a big fan of the steak burrito and quesadillas. My only complaint is that the front door looks weird – it has graffiti and scratches on it, so it’s not very inviting. But once you’re in, it’s 100% comfortable. Plus the two men who work there(they must be brothers, they look so much alike) are very kind.

Really nice in it’s category: a seemingly small neighborhood restaurant. And for it’s location: on a hill where a good place to eat locally is scarce. The outside doesn’t tell much about the place except it looks like a bistro but the sign shows: Mexican American Cuisine. I guess it’s a Mexican American bistro. When I walk in three things catch my initial interpretation. The place also sells a handful of grocery items like sugar and avocado. The lighting is just right especially in the morning, no super bright lighting, perfectly lit by the windows. The place is clean and seating is wooden with a smooth laminated gloss. It all seems very comfortable to sit and eat for a few minutes. The fourth thing I notice after I have made my order is the two large chalk boards as the menu. The menu is mainly wraps, breakfast items, sandwiches and Mexican American style items. There’s a fridge with a variety of different sodas and juices. There are fresh squeezed juices on the menu also, I saw a manual style juicer, you know the one you press down real hard to get the juices out. I didn’t order off the menu because I had something specific I wanted for breakfast: a cream cheese bagel with bacon and on the menu there is something similar the cream cheese and avocado bagel. I guess the place had my train of thought, similar anyway. I make my order with the staff that seems cool and the wait is not long at all, I say 10 minutes. The toasted bread was soft and lightly toasted: I approve. The cream cheese was well cream cheese. I don’t think they churn it in the back so I can’t account for it’s flavor but it seems fresh and the moderation spread on my bagel is average, if I had made it myself I would have packed on more though. With four slices of properly done bacon that wasn’t oily or overdone, crisp and not too salty: I approve of my bagel sandwich and coffee where I can taste the bean. Any place that is open before before 9am with decent food, especially on a Saturday, when I am not fully awake and willing to feed me because I have to be some place gets an extra star. They are open«7 Days a week.»

Not bad, interesring concept and close to the house. It looks clean, and efficient and a sizeable menu for such a small kitchen/prep area. I am pretty particular about my Mexican food so found their Taco Gringo(which became more of a toast) inauthentic. There are carts not to far from this stor that sell super-authentic Mexican food and even at the bargain prices, it doesn’t compare to the ones we’ve had from trucks(and restaurants) nearby. Another thing that might be useful is free WiFi access, with a password is fine.

This place is adorable and the service is excellent. I had the egg, bacon and avocado on a roll. It was delicious. I would go back. The place is small with not a lot of tables but there is seating. Also they sell fresh produce.

In an area that is full of laundrymats and cell phone stores, this corner of Greenpoint and 40th has been notoriously cruel to struggling food establishments. It is a bit telling when the only other hot food spot is Papa John’s( ). If it weren’t for Nita’s European Bakery( ), I’d probably never be here at all. Now with Greenpoint Kitchen, I’ve got more reason to come back. It is for the most part, the consummate neighborhood spot. GK is small with only a handful of tables and seems to function as a take out /delivery joint than a restaurant. The owner, Eliceo, is the super nice owner and occasional cook /delivery man and moved GK to this part of Sunnyside from just a few blocks up the road. At the beginning, the menu was super simple. There was only a handful of breakfast items(eggs, bagels, fruit, etc.), wraps, pastas, salads, and some homemade specialty meatballs. Everything was reasonably priced($ 6 and below), delivery was fast, everything was meticulously prepared, fairly delicious and even the packaging was labeled … in outstanding penmanship no less. Now as possibly an attempt to get more of the neighborhood in the mix, they’ve added a very robust variety of Mexican choices — everything from tortas to enchiladas to burritos. I’ve sampled the pricier Camarones Veracruz($ 11), which is a tad bland and the shrimp was somewhat overcooked. I’m not terribly fond of the tortas($ 6.50) or burritos($ 7), where the rice seemed somewhat underseasoned and overall unappetizing. I was disappointed with the enchiladas de queso and the Mexican burger, which were both blah-worthy at best. The carne asada platter seems promising, but like the home fries for breakfast, were a bit skimpy. And despite the subpar Mexican being the most dominant part of the menu, I still have love for GK. The breakfast choices are one’s best bet(Shoot for the American breakfast wrap!), the prices are solid, and the service is still very good. I am hoping the Mexican dishes improve but above all, I hope Greenpoint Kitchen is able to stick around.

I’ve had the Chorizo and Tex Mex egg wraps with home fries for breakfast and they are fantastic. The portion is huge and the home fries are pretty tasty. The Chorizo egg wrap has a nice kick to it — get it if you like spicy food! The only thing negative comment I have is about the service. The food does take a while to finish, longer than usual for 2 egg wraps. However, I’ll keep coming back to try other options for breakfast and lunch.

Ordered delivery and after waiting for over an hour I called. They said that it was just about to go out the door. It then took about another 35 minutes for the order to arrive. It seemed as thought they had forgotten about or lost the order. I had ordered a roll with guacamole, bacon, sunnyside up egg, lettuce, tomato, and american cheese. The sandwich was quite good but they had forgotten the cheese. Combining both the delivery time and the missing cheese I would rather order from one of the many dinners.

Sundays in New York are different then Sundays in Miami… Miami Sunday’s signified a very late brunch followed by pool party hopping out at the beach followed by really good hip hop at one of the local hangouts at the beach… NYC Sunday’s are«I don’t want to do anything other then sit on this couch and veg and forget that I have to go to work tomorrow» sounds familiar??? yay/nah? So for me I decided I wanted breakfast, not a bowl of cereal from my fridge or some cottage cheese. So I went to grubhub and started looking! I found Greenpoint Kitchen and though the breakfast menu wasn’t extensive it was cheap and they had avocado’s in their breakfast wraps! SOLD!!! My order: Iced Cappuccino Tex Mex Wrap w/egg whites served with Home Fries Pancakes Again yes this was all for me… I have a voracious appetite! The cappuccino was good My tex mex wrap was bangin! They give you a lot of home fries also which were cooked perfectly needed just a little bit of salt! By this point I was super full and was eying my pancakes with longing but I knew it just wasn’t happening as it was super hot in my freaking apt and I had melted into my couch and was not wanting to go into a food coma in heat as I may have combusted… So the pancakes were for breakfast at work on Monday! They were fluffy and yummy and good size! So now I have a breakfast delivery spot for my lazy Sundays! Peerrffeeccttt! One down side delivery took a really long time… maybe because Im in Astoria but it def took at least 45 min luckily I was out of it so it didn’t really matter…

Came in around 3 pm on a Sunday for an omelet. I was really impressed. I had the Tex Mex which was avocado, jalapeños and cheddar. The omelet was quickly prepared and perfectly cooked. I want to try their meatballs next!

I’m really glad Greenpoint Kitchen moved to their new spot. My favorites here are breakfast, coffee, and the Mexican portion of their menu. I had a chorizo burrito the other day and it blew me away! The quesadillas are yummy too. I have a small gripe to my neighbors. Greenpoint Kitchen is providing a little life to an area on Greenpoint Ave that needs it, yet every time I go there it is not busy. If you live in Sunnyside you need to check this place out and be thankful it’s not another laundry mat, nail salon, or some other random business that closes at 7pm!

I was very impressed with this place. The owner is so nice and the food is tasty. I got a turkey meatball sub and I was really pleased with it. The place is clean and comfortable. Now quit reading this and go and enjoy a good meal!
