Cheap lunch option that guarantees to fill your belly! Most items are under $ 6 – 7 and include free congee and water at the self help area. I heard the noodle soups were the best so my party and I shared orders of the spicy beef noodle soup(hongshao niu rou mian), cold Sichuan noodles(neng mian), black bean sauce(zhajiangmian) noodles, pork and chive pan fried dumplings, scallion pancakes and beef pancakes. The best out of the above mentioned clearly was the spicy beef noodle soup which had a rich broth, tender chunks of beef, and tasty noodles. The second runner up was the dumplings… fairly thick skin and juicy meat interior. The beef pancakes had a thin slice of beef and lettuce within, but not bursting with flavor. The scallion pancakes fell short of scallions and a crisp factor, but still acceptable in my book. The Sichuan cold noodles were not Mala spicy like I expected and was quite plain. Lastly, the black bean sauce noodles were also a bit underwhelming as it resembled the cold noodles but with meat and a salty sauce. Overall a good spot for quick and cheap eats when in the area… but the noodle soup may be to go-to item along with dumplings!

Not great food for the price. I realized that the cashier didn’t give me the right amount of change halfway through and had to ask for it. The buns and dumplings are very mediocre and just barely do the justice of being a meal. I have heard the noodles are significantly better, but it’s a shame to have bad buns when the name is literally Buns House. Instead of this place, I’d recommend Cocos Café which is like a block away if you want a cheap place with decent Chinese food.

Food quality went downhill like a rock, nothing like before. Especially the dumplings, taste totally different, and the«skin» /wrapping can’t stay together at all. I have been here more than 10 times, today totally disappointed us. I wanted to give only one star, but even at their worst time which I’m sure the will get back on the game in no time, it’s still million times better than coco couple doors down.

Dear pan-fried pork buns, how I’ve missed you so. I’m so glad to finally find a tasty version of you, juicy and flavorful on the inside with crispy edges at the bottom. Yes, your filling is on the salty end if eaten alone, but perfect with the dough on the outside that makes you what you are: a bun. The pork celery version of you is extra delightful, as your celery bits add crunch, and every bite of you brings a smile to my face. I also love the way you arrive in front of me, hot and steaming, calling my name as I bathe in the aroma of your goodness. I can’t believe it’s been so long since we’ve connected, but Bun’s House have made this reunion possible, and I’m never letting you go. My dear pan-fried pork buns, how I’ve missed you so. Love, Your biggest fan.

Food taste good and service is mostly good. Pricy is very reasonable. Can be a good substitute when you don’t want to cook or spend a lot. I especially like their noodles! One star off because of the cleanness of bowls/plates; which are always watery and handled out by staffs with bare hands

Pork belly in bun is tender and flavorful. Xiao long Bao– decent but not enough soup in there Pan fried Pork onion Bao– meat a little dry and salty to my likings Pan fried Pork dumplings– it’s ok. Meat taste the same as pan fried onion Bao . Overall– a little too salty

The beef noodle soup and fried dumplings are delicious. This place is very reasonably priced and the portions are huge! 2 people can easily split one order off their menu. The only complaint I have is that the people who work there, especially the lady in the front, does not speak English well. The first time I went there she misunderstood me and added an extra item, by the time I realized it, it was too late and when I tried telling her she would just nod, say«I’m sorry I don’t understand English well» and walk away. :/I feel like she’s kind of a rude person but I guess the food is more important here. Overall tip: bring someone who speaks Chinese with you, just in case, or point to the menu, and ALWAYS double check the receipt! The food was served in a timely manner. Overall the food is good 7⁄10 service was 2.5÷10.

Very reasonable prices for solid Chinese food. (Dear Bun’s House employees/owners… don’t read these reviews and decide to up your prices. Your affordable prices are a big draw — please don’t change that!) XLB(xiao long bao /soup dumplings): 3 stars, not bad but not that special either. Pan-fried pork dumplings: 5 stars, mmm these hit the spot. Hand-pulled noodles: 5 stars, fresh and chewy — I recommend asking for the hand-pulled noodles rather than regular noodles. Spicy beef broth(can be ordered with noodles or with dumplings): 5 stars, much more flavorful than their standard beef broth. Not super spicy but it’s a little bit more than mild spice. Regular(non-spicy) beef broth: 3 stars, not bad but not great. «Shredded surface»: 4 stars. What on earth is «shredded surface»!!! — a weird name to put on the menu, but it’s basically a stir-fry made with the hand-pulled noodles and some small amounts of veggies and meat. A bit greasy, but overall I enjoyed this. The hand-pulled noodles are where it’s at!!! Black sauce noodle(za jiang mien): 2 stars. TOOSALTY!

Bun’s House is a fairly new restaurant that opened next to the new and improved Wel-Fresh. It’s basically like another Old Place Café but with more emphasis on dumplings and Bao-zi, hence the name«Bun’s House». They also have a lot of different noodle dishes to choose from. Like Coco’s, dishes and beverages are self-serve, and like Old Place Café they give out free porridge. The restaurant itself is really cute and quaint, and the staff are friendly(but communication in English is definitely a struggle here). The reason I give it 3 stars is that I wasn’t very impressed by the food. My dad and I ordered the Szechuan Cold noodles, steamed meat buns, and the green onion pancake. The cold noodles didn’t really taste like Szechuan-style(granted the owners are probably from Beijing aka they do not know how to make Szechuan food); they were a bit bland and too peanut-y. The meat buns were also just okay; I liked the meat part, but the buns were too hard and bready for my tastes.(But some people prefer it that way). As for the green onion pancake, that was actually my favorite part. It was super delicious, and my dad went back and bought 3 more that same day.

My parents make great bao zi, dumplings, noodles and stuff, so my review is biased in that it’s hard to impress me in this area. We got the buns they recommended, they were pretty good, but then we heard they heat up frozen ones… I liked the beef noodle soup because the noodles were hand crafted! Hubby got the lamb noodle soup and liked it. They have complimentary congee, great for kids(or adults) waiting for their food. I will come back again for a more detailed review.

If you’re in Sugar Land and have a hankering for beef noodle soup and dumplings, this is the place to go. Their beef noodle soup is hot, fresh and has a great clean taste. I’ve also tried the pork and chive dumplings and they were great when boiled into soup(I bought them frozen). I just picked up some wontons and they were tasty enough as well. My only gripe is the buns. Too little filling to bread ratio. They taste fine but there was just a little too much bun in comparison to the meat. Just a matter of preference I suppose. Is this place the best I’ve ever had? No, Chinatown has them beat. But as far as local fair for Sugarland. I’m sold.

This little gem has little to offer from the outside. Its a tiny little place with a very utilitarian layout and little to no décor. There are no real instructions on what is supposed to happen and people here do not really speak english. With all of that being said. the food was Great. Like really good. The price and quantity are all amazing as well. You get what most places would call a double order for five and change. It cannot be beat. I tried the fried dumplings and the steamed buns. All amazing. I am literally going to make this place a once a week lunch spot with my coworkers(who loved it also).

Bun’s House is a Chinese food gem in Sugarland! All their food is homemade and tasty. The food will definitely leave you wanting more. I had the spicy beef noodle soup and pork fried dumplings. The noodle broth was flavorful and the noodles were perfectly cooked… tender but still chewy. The dumplings were fried to perfection. The meat mixture in the dumplings was juicy and nicely portioned. I wish I could have tried other dishes, but the portion sizes are generous and will leave you full. I will be back to try other dishes for sure! Note: I went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and the place was packed! They were already out of the thick hand pulled noodles for the spicy noodle soup dish. Go early if you prefer these noodles.

This place just opened up near our house. I enjoyed the buns, dumplings, soups and the«beef pancakes»(pastrys with thinly sliced beef in-between. The buns are too thick in dough, though and for that, I give it four stars. I think the filling could be a little more and dough a little thinner. The only other concern is that there’s not always an English speaking attendant at the counter. We’ve walked in for take-out and walked right out because we couldn’t figure anything out. Still, I do love a decent Bun House nearby that I can run to!

The noodles here are delicious! They offer you the option to have hand pulled noodles. These noodles are thicker, have better texture and taste much fresher since they are made from scratch and on the spot. I’ve tried both the spicy beef noodle and lamb noodle soup. The beef noodle has some pickled veggies, greens and a good amount of beef. The lamb noodle contains a big piece of lamb meat with the bone still on it and spinach. Overall you can’t go wrong with either and the prices are in the 5 – 8 dollar range so it’s very affordable!

I love dumplings. For a small meal, snack, appetizer… these tasty creations work. You cannot go wrong with dumplings, steamed buns or noodle dishes from here. Bun’s house serves Asian cuisine with several choices, flavors and degrees of spicy. The amount of food you get is definite quality for a reasonable amount. We have eaten as a group of 5 for under $ 40, with several items, and two can eat for just under $ 20 with three generously proportioned items. One can easily eat for under $ 10 and be satisfied. The menu is in both Chinese and English which makes for easy ordering. The employees who work the register are pleasant and will answer any questions you have. My favorite dumplings are the pork and scallion. These are savory and filling and both the steamed and fried are excellent. I am not a fan of vinegar but I do like mixing the soy and the vinegar(grazie to a food expert Cajun for this discovery) that they have as condiments(located at the napkin, bowls, etc. station). This combination really brings out the flavor of the dumplings and I suggest giving this little mix a try. The vegetable dumplings are also quite good and fresh tasting. I think these are better steamed but that is a matter of personal preference. As far as soup dumplings, the beef dumpling soup is a definite favorite. You can order spicy or not spicy. The spicy is not what I consider spicy but it still has a great flavor. The serving is quite large and can easily feed two people. It is a very comforting and warming dish. The steamed buns, also available fried, are filling and enjoyable. These are good with pork and chive but I feel scallions give a little extra flavor. The breading is soft and is great for soaking up the broth from soup when dipped in a little bowl of the dumpling soup broth or even the vinegar/soy. This isn’t something I see many doing but it’s not rude restaurant manners and I like the taste. The beef bone soup is full of flavorful broth and tender beef. The beef bone is served within the soup and can be picked over if you want every last bite. This is another warming comfort dish. The only downside I found is that the drink choices are limited. They have bottled water and can soft drinks. I would like to see pots of hot tea served because I love teas and I think it would complement the meal nicely. There is a complimentary corn type soup available at the condiment and utensil station. It is much like a corn grits with a thin soup texture. It is a good palate cleanser and rather refreshing. If you want to satisfy a dumplings or soup craving or just want a filling, very tasty meal for an excellent price, I suggest giving Bun’s House a try.

We went to check out this new eatery. We ordered an order of fried dumplings that were pork and chive. They were crispy on outside and hot and freshly cooked. The flavor was good. We thought the fried dumplings were good. Now the moniker states that it is a Bun’s House and unfortunately, the Buns were only okay. The steamed dough was thick and bland but not as greasy as Santong Snacks which was good. We had an order of the filling with the egg, pork, brown algae like stuff and it was good filling but it just seemed that the breading part wasn’t as tasty… almost like a frozen steamed bun. A decent place but it isn’t a place I would go out of my way for.

Dining Room is small and warm. I ordered the pork and chive dumplings the flavor was ok… I would have preferred more chive flavor. The portion was good. When I asked the person at register questions about the menu, I was disappointed by the responses in spite of that the service was friendly. My friend had a soup I want to try when it gets chilly outside. So I will be back.

This place offers northen Chinese style food. People used to southern style may picky about the skin is too thick, but for us, this is just right. My last visit had seafood bun and beef dumpling, and they were winderful. Today we had lamb noodle(served weekend only) and black sauce noodle. They were great! 这家北方馆有正宗饺子,包子及面食,味道一级棒,顶呱呱!羊肉汤面只有在周末时供应。

The Best Dumpling Place in Sugarland thus far! I can eat dumplings any day and any where! Not to mention, the menu is in English and there is someone at the front counter who is fluent in English(MAJORMAJORPLUS — at Old Place, I can never get anyone who works there to describe something on the menu to me in English). Food: Generous Portions. I ordered the Pan Fried Dumplings(10 pieces), Soup dumplings(12 pieces), and Pan Fried Buns(7 pieces). They were all fresh and flavorful! The meat within the dumplings and the buns were mouth-licking juicy! The broth for the soup dumplings was tasty(a little bit on the saltier side but I certainly drank most of the broth). There is a self serve station if where you can get tea or water(free). You can also make your own sauce to your liking(soy sauce, black vinegar, garlic, chili pepper, etc). They sell other side dishes and drinks as well(limited variety of drinks). Price: Most of their orders are ~$ 5ish — $ 6ish. You get alot for what you pay. It’s slightly cheaper than Old Place too just in case you’re curious. Location: Lots of parking and located a few doors down from Welfresh. Customer service: The front counter folks were courteous. Nothing extraordinary. No table side service. You order and pay at the register. Then you tell them which table you would like to sit at and they’ll bring your order to you once it’s ready. When you’re done, they do bus your bowls and trays. I can’t wait to try the other items on their menu!
