I having a pleasant dinner with family in this restaurant. The roared duck in plum sauce was incredible.

One of the best places! It was absolutely delicious. We started with the crab cakes which were outrageous. Creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside. We also started with stuffed artichoke which was quite big! The stuffing was delicious. For my entrée I had the stuffed mahi mahi with a seafood stuffing in a lobster bisque sauce accompanied with potato and veggies. No words to describe how delicious it was! Highly recommended

Let me start off by saying that my first review was reported as inappropriate, most probably because it was a negative review and the owners were unhappy that it was how bad this place is. First off you walk in and the place smells like urine. Not very appealing for a food establishment. Let’s start with the appetizers which was an assortment of dried out baked clams and mushy sauce coated fried calamari. Dinner was a huge pork chop that lacked any flavor and was so tough it was barely edible. Though the potato croquet was delicious as was the coffee. So basically a prepackaged potato croquet and coffee were the only two good things about this meal.

Mostly good food. Enjoyed the salmon, but side dishes weren’t so tasty Not crazy about the bland marinara sauce. Excellent service. Waitresses were great.

I come to this place frequently, and I just love their early bird special. Who can beat it? I am almost afraid to go into details because I don’t want to ruin the secret. The food is really good. My husband always gets the linguine with clam sauce, and I usually go for the eggplant parm. or the shrimp Orechette. They serve you hot bread with butter, eggplant caponata. The Caesar salad is really good. My kids love the chicken parm and lasagna. I could eat just the calamari as a meal! The special includes a bottle of wine, which is pretty decent for being free! I will go back again and again and again and again. My only complaint is that the cocktails are on the pricey side, but they are very good.

I came here coz it was my last day and wanted to go somewhere outside of Manhattan. Took the ferry over to Staten Island and decided to have dinner right at the water :) I finally ate a lobster in NY! It was as good as people say, I could not stop. The food was so good, my fiancé in his words said I ignored him for 20 mins and devoured my lobster dipped in garlic butter. Every bite was juicy, salty like the sea and so so fresh. Next time I need to order like a 2lb lobster to eat!!! So yummy

There unfortunately are a few times in life when a restaurant meal leaves one wishing he had stayed in his own kitchen and cooked! Two nights ago at Coles was one of those times. The MahiMahi was on the edge of burned — in looks, smell, & taste! We were so disappointed in this pricey meal & won’t be returning.

My kids and I really enjoy Coles. The fried calamari is delicious it literally melts in your mouth and the portion is plentiful. $ 10.95 for lunch portion. mussel cocktail is always fresh! They also have a happy hour on friday with half price apps and drink specials. if you want good seafood and want to be by the water this spot on the Marina is great! Wait staff is good as well.

Pretty good special occasion restaurant. I cannot comment on the regular menu as we had the Father’s Day menu. I would have liked to tried the seafood tower as that is my barometer for seafood places but I had two of my other litmus sticks — fried calamari and steamed mussels, both pretty good. The fried calamari(some with legs :) was plentiful and served with a fresh tomato sauce(see photo) and the mussels in tomato sauce was enough for an entrée! On the other hand, my spouse had the prepared seafood combination and while it was not awful I can see where it can be easily over prepared to the point where the treatment overpowers the flavor of the seafood(rubbery). So if you are a fresh seafood fan, order more of the cleaner dishes. If you like volume and sauces, then by all means go for the prepared dishes. The service, however, was top notch from the hostess, wait staff and table staff. Seamless. I would recommend, be careful how you order!

If I could give this place a 0 star rating I would! It used to be good years ago no more! I went here recently with my dad and my sister(who is in culinary hs in nyc). And we ordered two lobster tails and a filet migon. SENTALLTHREEBACK! We got there at 7! We didn’t leave till 9 and no dessert didn’t even ask! When we sent the meals back, the lobsters were so rubbery like they were way overdone not to mention the size was so small and dinky(and this is a fish restaurant). The filet migon was gray and so hard and dry it could break glass! The presentation was lifeless and the wait staff was laughing! Honestly when I saw the help wanted sign outside their window I was thrown off and nervous. Because I Unilocaled good lobster tails and this place showed up! I complained and the wait staff didn’t seem concerned and didn’t take anything off the bill! When I went home I vomited! This place sucks! ITSSOOBVIOUSTHEYNEEDKITCHENHELP! Second time round the meals still sucked I should of went to millers! Gross! The waiters said the owner(Larry) was not their unless he was to embarrassed to show his face! I hope he sees this because I ended up getting sick on my birthday night! And nobody compensated anything! Not even a coffee! Cheap. Gross. And not talented chefs! It was a waste of 150!

As far as I’m concerned, this is a(not-so-) hidden gem! I’ve passed by this place many many times on my way to the Marina Café. This past Friday my friend suggested that we go there for an early dinner. I’m so glad she did! From 3:00 to 6:00PM they have a 3 course prix fixe dinner for $ 24.00, which includes a bottle of wine.(We opted for cocktails — Raspberry Lemonade — and took the wine home to cook with.) First course was great for me. Mozzarella en Carrozza — lightly fried to perfection served with a side of marinara sauce. My friend said her Zuppa di Mussels was good. A big bowl of mussels served in either red or white sauce. Entrée — my friend had some kind of tilapia dish and I had the cod oreganata(which was perfectly prepared; nice and flaky). Both were served with nice, crunchy steamed veggies and a potato croquette-type-thing. Dessert for both of us was a chocolate crêpe filled with chocolate mousse. It was the only negative of our meal. The actual crêpe was cold and chewy — like a cold Aunt Jemima pancake — very disappointing. But the mousse inside was quite good(we just picked it out and left the crêpe). The décor/ambiance is quite charming. You walk in and you’re at the bar and behind it is a very large dining room. We ate in the glass enclosed porch/patio. I hope they slide the doors open when it gets warmer. It was only in the low 70’s out and the room was quite warm as it was(and the sliding doors were closed). Service was very good, a little slow to start but then it picked up and got back on track. We were in and out in 1 ½ hours, which was good because we had a time constraint. I will definitely be back.

I have been to this restaurant many many times… it is a favorite of my wife and I… However today was absolutely horrible experience. The service was excellent we were nicely greeted, parking convenient but then the problem started… instead of fried calamari we asked the waiter if he can make us grilled calamari… Half had a nice char on it the rest was a rubbery and tasted lousy… My wife ordered lobster Fra Diavlo… I ordered twin lobster tails… The lobster tails as well as the lobster and my wife’s dish were absolutely tasteless even with the fra Diavlo sauce and me dunking my lobster tails in butter nothing can be done to bring any semblance of taste to this meal …$ 40 for 11⁄4 pound lobster. These are steakhouse in Manhattan prices out on Staten Island and I wouldn’t mind paying that if I got a delicious tasting Lobster I got garbage… Even though the ambiance on the water was nice, I will give this one a rest for a long while

AMAZINGSERVICE!!! Samantha was awesome! The wait staff was very attentive and the food was presented so tastefully that you hated to eat it, but the aroma forced you to. My BF had the Zuppa Di Pesci and I had the King Crab with Potato Croquette. The Zuppa Di Pesci had tender Calamari cooked perfect, mussels steamed and soaking in flavor, butterflies shrimp curled just so to capture the juices. Perfect drawn butter with a hint of garlic and sea salt. Samantha made the best after dinner apéritif with Amaretto and Coffee with a touch of cinnamon. DEFINITELY coming back!!!

Always one of my favorite places to have a meal, I’m surprised I didn’t review it yet. I love their seafood dishes, especially the crab cakes! They are freshly made & melt in your mouth. I have also tried the linguini & clams, shrimp scampi, shrimp parm, mussels and calamari. If you aren’t a fish lover, they do have other options, but I recommend trying a seafood dish. I love the nautical feel inside, but it can be a bit chilly at times. Parking can be difficult because the marina area can get crowded.

3⁄2015 Excellent service and food was amazing. Fish is always fresh. Servers pay close attention and owner Larry is quick to say hello. Great atmosphere. I prefer everything grilled and they did it to perfection.

Well recommended on Unilocal so we went. Simple yet pleasing ambiance. Moderate selections including emphasis on seafood and various meats. There is the base menu and a more expensive specials menu. We chose selections from both. All portions were large, in fact, bordering on too much. The lobster arugula appetizer was split for us and each half was more than ample. It could serve as a full meal if ordered for one person-from off the specials menu. $ 19.00. Presentation was basic and the flavor was ok. I thought it could use a punch. Main dishes were off the regular menu and consisted of blackened shrimp and scallops over a bed of salad. $ 19.95. It was unfortunate that we did not clearly see the salad part as it became too many greens since we already had the substantial appetizer above. We took it home. The seafood was flavorful and savory. Not over-cooked. I had the pecan encrusted teriyaki Mahi-Mahi. Huge piece of fish, a potato cone and some veggies. The fish was cooked fine but between the teriyaki and the pecans, a bit too sweet for my taste. $ 19.95. Server was perfunctory. There are many other items on the menu we will consider with more care next time out. We ordered out for our kid and he indicated the stuffed shrimp-$ 23.95-was just fine. No desert as we had no room for it-all $ 7.00. I had a glass of house cab which was decent. We spent $ 97 for the three mains, appetizer and glass of vino and of course tipped about 18% on pretax sum. We will return.

Been coming for Lunch for many years. Food and service are Great. But it is time to change the menu. More choices and new items would be nice.

Excellent food and great service. I felt like I had left Staten Island and gone to a small sailing town because of the marina, which is off the main roads, and the décor of the restaurant. The service was excellent and the food came out fast and was fresh. My wife & I had the lobster Arugula salad and baked clams for appetizers. Both were excellent. I had the pecan encrusted Mahi Mahi and my wife had the grouper. Both dishes were very good. We couldn’t finish them because the portions were generous. We had the brownie volcano for dessert which was also very good. Our waitress gave us 2 Italian coffees on the house and wrote a nice note on our check which was a very nice touch. Great restaurant. I want to come back in the summer when we can actually enjoy the view.

What a cute little gem in SI! We came here to celebrate a birthday recently and I was pleasantly surprised! I am normally the one to choose the restaurants since I am extremely picky so I was apprehensive on whether or not I would enjoy my meal here and I did! The place is right by the dock and there is street parking. The people that work here are so friendly! I didn’t get a chance to ask for our waitress’s name, but she was such a doll! She was an older lady and was so so so friendly. I couldn’t have asked for better service! We also needed help with our baby carriage and they were so helpful. The food was amazing. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the seafood and I was in for a surprise. Seafood Tier — this is served cold with some cold shrimp, cold lobster and oysters. I didn’t eat this, but my dining partners said it was good! Hot Antipasto — really really good! I loved how it was a mix of everything from baked clams, baked mussels, calamari, veggies and stuffed mushrooms. I would definitely order this again and I highly recommend this dish. Note — it’s not on the menu, but ask for it like we did =) I got the seafood combo which came with fish, shrimp, scallops and veggies. This dish was so good and it was the perfect portion size. I would order this again too! All of the entres came with salads and I wasn’t expecting that so that was pretty cool. I don’t remember what my other dining partners ordered, but everyone said their dishes were good. Give this place a shot! It’s a true gem in the neighborhood. I’ll be back =)

This place is really nice. I like that its in the marina and im happy they reopened after Sandy. The décor is a bit dated and not as romantic as it could be. Coles has a bar which gets filled up quickly. The waiter was nice and went out of his way to make this a special night. We started with grilled shrimps wrapped in proscuitto and drizzled with a grand mariner sauce. They were cooked perfectly. You tasted the smokiness of the wood saltiness of proscuitto and sweetness of the sauce. It went so well together. We also got crab cakes. They had a lot of flavor and large chunks of crab. It had a balsamic reduction which went well with it. For dinner i had surf and turf and he had scallops organata. Both were perfectly executed. However surf and turf is not on the menu. You must ask for it. The chef was happily able to prepare it for me. Im happy that places like this are starting to thrive after hurricane sandy. I do wish though that they wouldnt over charge on such petty things like soda when spending so much on a meal. The least you can do is give free refills on sodas that small.
