So I came again. I will remain 3 stars because it is genuine, family owned, and being Hispanic myself– I respect that. The waitress is really sweet and cute as I mentioned prior. I can’t give more than 3 though. First the tamales; now the quesadillas… It just tasted a bit flavorless. I really couldn’t even finish mine again. I’ll probably come back for the bar on the weekend though.

Recently attended my niece’s Christening and we went here after a family meal. I’d tasted some of their food from leftovers that my husband brought home, so I was excited to actually experience it myself. First off, I love the set up of the restaurant. The unique artwork on the walls is such a nice touch – we were all admiring it. The smell of the freshly baked sweet bread was so comforting – especially since it was such a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon. They had us set up at a long table and brought out some delicious guacamole(just needed some salt) and homemade DELICIOUS chips! I could have eaten another pound of it. It was a prix fixe menu of different kinds of tacos(pork, chicken, steak) served with a side of beans and rice. OMG. Those beans were unbelievably tasty. I really liked the addition of pineapple to the pork tacos. After the meal, the kids were able to run around and play, and the adults were able to stand around and talk – it’s really spacious and open in there. Service was accommodating and friendly. Looking forward to returning!!!

I hung up and called back and she answered the phone by say«I am still on the phone you HAVETOWAIT!» She then drop the phone next to some speaker for a tv and never came back to the phone. My experience here was HORRIBLE! Arrived on a saturday night around 11:30 with my husband, and there must have been like 3 other families already dining there. It took the waitress like 5 minutes to acknowledge us, and we finally ordered like another 5 minutes later. Not bad. Then all of sudden, a rush of people came in(assuming from the club next door), and our waitress got busy, but we didn’t mind because we had already been served our sodas and had already ordered. Mind you, that there was only TWO waitresses in the whole establishment during that time. Then I heard two separate people complain to the other waitress that they had not even been given the menus and were ready to leave, but then the waitress quickly gave them the menus. Around 12:20AM, our waitress comes back to our table and apologizes for the long wait. I said, sure, but then she told us that it would take an additional 20MINUTES because the orders are taken by table??? WHAT? so it’s not first come, first served??? I told her that I would not be eating there, and that I was just going to pay for my husband and I’s soda, and she said that would she would let the kitchen know that our food was going to be a to-go order. UMMMMMM, no! I paid $ 4 for my beverages, and left!!! BADSERVICE, UNDERSTAFFED, don’t know how to run a business.

Tacos were as fresh as they come. Nachos and guac were excellent. Beer was cold. Prices were fair — $ 3/taco. Service was a little slow, but I wasn’t in a rush. I highly recommend this place. The Tinga taco was delicious.

Delicious Burritos and Hurache. The portions are large so come hungry. The sauces they give you have got to be authentic as they are muy picante. The painting inside is really cool too, it suggests that there are some Mayan elements to their roots, and maybe they’re cooking too.

I order the same thing every time«huevos la mexicana» best mexican omelet i ever had and best rice and refried beans i ever had. Definitely their best meal hands down. However i literally ordered the same thing one week straight and i always order without onions and for some reason they always mess up and put onions having to come back pick up the food they delivered and give me a new order without onions so be extra clear and emphasize on any substitutions you make.

The good: Restaurant is decorated nicely, is clean and welcoming. Tacos are tasty. Mexican street food style tacos, accompanied with cilantro & onion, lime wedges and your choice of sauce(go green). Steak was a good bet, carnitas may have a little more flavor. Service at bar for to go is quick and genial. One of the few authentic Mexican spots in the area that are gringo friendly. The meh: Once had a poor delivery experience(food took over an hour to come, puzzled driver w/o gps, had to recall high school Spanish to give directions, food arrived cold). This was a while ago, so hopefully they’ve worked out the kinks.

Soo I went into El Patron. I was greeted and given menus the typical stuff. I understand this is a Mexican restaurant; however, any and everyone can eat here, so you should treat everyone the same. I sat here for about an hour and not 1 time was complimentary nachos given to me and this was way before I told them this was a take out. The women at the front seem to care more about the young Mexican men here rather than their customers waiting for hours! I will also say that when I did ask them to possibly see how long to go before I get my order at this point that I don’t care for I was ignored and then 5 mins later she went to go ask and then told Me she knows it’s been a long wait but they didn’t even start making my food yet bc of the large group they have! Whattttttt!!! If you know that you are currently catering to a large group and I am ordering take out. Wouldn’t you think to inform the costumer that it may be some time before the food come out; so it can be at their discretion whether they want it or not?! Why tell me after an hour later. Then they tell me 10mins I wait like a dingbat bc at this point I thought I might as well. Welp. Wrong idea I stayed her for another 45 mins. Even after this long wait. Nothing was offered as simple as nachos to accommodate my wait. I then realized that they were giving nachos and sauce out and so I asked the waitress(if that’s what you wanna call them) how come I was not offered nacho and sauce and she tells me bc it was take out however I didn’t decide to do take out till 30mins after my order then she says«I can give you nachos» at this point I refuse and was no longer interested. Then of course my food was mediocre. This restaurant needs better management and learn how to cater to ALL costumers. –___–

This is possibly the best restaurant on the island. Its super simple, real authentic Hispanic food. I wasn’t sure what to get so I may have gotten something from everything, it was simply amazing, the food was awesome, the service was impeccable. It was a great experience. Simply great!!!

My wife and I, real«Foodies» that are foreveer looking for new and decent places to eat out, that reflect an array of cultural and ethnic diversity in dishes, coninue to search for wonderful Mexican food to dine on, within Staten Island. We have found, on the North Shore, one really great place, Fiesta Poblana, up Victory(from Victory & Bay Street) that is out of this world. Then we saw, along Bay Street near Tappen Park, this brand new(large corner) restrauant open, and thought, «well, it looks impressive from the outside, perhaps it will be some competition for Fiesta Poblana or Mezcal’s(further down Bay Str.) Unfortunately, it absolutly was not! It didn’t even come close, in spite of its impressive size and high-end look from outside, to even holding a candle to Fiesta Poblana, when it came to the food and the value! We came on a Thursday early evening, so I will grant you that they might put a better foot forward on a weekend, still, we were truly disappointed with every single dish we had, to the point that, while the server was pleasant, we couldn’t wait to just end the meal and leave.

This place is pretty solid. Considerably new to this neighborhood but good. I moved to this area from jersey city where you can grab an authentic meal pretty much anywhere but this restaurant is definitely up there with the best. The employees are very nice and helpful with recommendations. Delivery is about average, around 30 minutes… If you want something very simple and quite filling, packed with flavor I would recommend any of the Tortas.
