Unprofessional from start to finish!
When I 1^st called this business, I asked if they match pricing? They said «we definitely do.» So I came in and showed my receipts from the previous store. They offered me 35% off on nutrients and 30% on any hardware. I was happy with their offer and asked if I can set up an account. They said that they don’t make accounts, it seemed odd but I just went with it.
Every time I sent someone to the store to buy supplies, they gave different pricing without consistency. After my initial visit, 1 time they give me the right pricing. Many times, I had to go in myself and get it readjusted, but giving the adjustments in a disgruntled manner.
On my most recent visit, I go into the store to return a gas tank (which has a $ 200 deposit) and talk to them about getting pricing adjusted because of being overcharged again. On this occurrence I politely ask the owner about the refund and he lies to me and states the deal doesn’t work this way, even though they adjusted numerous receipts in the past. I politely explain what we agreed on and he blows up and says «you know what, forget this, I’m changing the deal,» throws the receipts at me and says «we are done.» I then ask him are you going to give me my $ 200 deposit? He said «no, your not getting it, get out of here.» Right after his comments, all his employees were shocked and were looking at him, because he started to realize how he looked in front of his employees and customers, he scrambled for the money and gave it to me.
This was about the rudest and most unprofessional business I have been to. Never once was I ever scrutinized for things that were already agreed on at any business. If your looking for a gardening store where they will treat you with respect and keep agreements, this is not the place to go.

Honestly, I don’t even want to give this business 1 star but I have to in order to conduct this review. I wish I could give them a thumbs down or negative star! I was in the need for some soil and went to google for help. Up popped this Hydroponic store and it had decent reviews which I have no clue as to how unless employees were paid to write them. Anywho, I called the store because it’s about 20 minutes away and I didn’t want to drive all the way down there only to not find what I needed. An employee answered the phone with a simple «Hey» so I asked him if they carried a specific brand of soil & if they had it in sock. He replied with «Sorry, we’re really busy right now you’re just going to have to come down and look yourself.» A few things…#1) RUDE, #2) Customer is ALWAYS first, even if you’re busy! (A)You handle the situation with asking that customer if they don’t mind holding or (B) If they’ll call back in 10 minutes, #3) If you’re that «busy» why answer the phone? I asked to speak to the manager after hearing that response and you know what he said when I explained to him what happened?!? The MANAGER said, «I’m sorry, but we are busy. just go look on the website» The manager needs to pass this on to someone who actually cares about customers and helping them get what they need. I can tell you this place has not only lost my business, but I’m making sure that no one I know or their friends ever go to this store or give them any sort of business.
Reply to Marc: I did NOT request that any employee «physically measure» any item at all for me. That is a bold face lie. I aske for the measurements and what I was told EXACTLY, WORD FOR WORD, BY YOUR EMPLOYEE, was «I don’t know „man“, look on our website.» I really don’t appreciate, especially the manager posting a LIE.
A bold face lie… I NEVER requested that any item or any employee «physically measure» an item for me. And NOR did the employee or manager offer to call me back. Unprofessional business. I can’t believe you’d lie and say that you offered to call me back when your employee was so rememberly rude, and unhelpful. I wish someone offered to call me back, but your business cannot handle answering the phone and taking customers in person. I have never had such an AWFUL EXPERIENCE in my entire life; a business that fabricates lies.

Hey just stopped by this shop just now. Randy helped us out, and gave us really great info on growing, on supplies, how to take care of our plants etc. we bought some nutrients and a ph tester and he seriously hooked us up with a ton of amazing samples for nutrients, soils, etc etc. I can’t tell you how helpful and knowledgable this shop is! Highly recommended! Will def be back to buy all our equipment in the next few weeks!!! Ask for Randy he will def hook it up!!! Thanks man!!!

Great store, and the prices are amazing. The staff is more than helpful. Check them out for all your hydroponics needs!

This is my favorite hydro shop. I have absolutely no complaints. They carry EVERYTHING!!! New and used stuff. The staff is very knowledgable and welcoming. I have buried the staff with questions and they always give me great advice. The prices are very fair and significantly lower than other hydro shops in the area. The store is always clean and organized. I highly advise you check the place out if you have a green thumb. Save yourself the countless trips and high prices and make this your one-​stop shop!

I am new to hydroponics, these guys helped me out a ton! They didn’t try pushing a sale or particular brand and they hooked it up with a bunch of free samples to test out and see what works best. Randy was very helpful and knowledgable. I will definitely be coming back for all my hydro needs.

Awsome guy, helped me and my friend a lot, we have came in to this place at least 4 times in the past 5 days and tgey were amazing everytime, prices always works for us! Always got deals and 50% ofg was awsome ! I will go to this place where ever they go

I went in there last night and they were extremely helpful! They had a sale so it saved me some money and they stil gave me a discount on top of it. Real cool people and great store.

Went here for their 2013 Black Friday sale. I originally hear about them through my Facebook feed and found out it was pretty local to where I live.
Location is pretty easy to navigate to via Google Maps and parking lot was huge with plenty of spaces to park in. The store itself is tucked away in the corner of the plaza, which seems very dead and isn’t easily seen from the road. I wish the property manager would put their name on the billboard outside.
Anyway, going in, I was very impressed with all the inventory that was in display. Things are nicely categorized and displayed in a pretty intuitive manner. After I got my bearings straight, it wasn’t too difficult to figure out where everything was. Very diverse variety of merchandise for every type of hydroponics.
Since I was going for the DWC method (Deep Water Culture) of hydroponics, I will review on what I got. First, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I got to spend time with Jack who helped me pick out supplies for my first adventure into hydroponics. I told him I was limited on space and budget and was planning to grow herbs and veggies indoors like basil and spinach. He educated me on the essentials in terms of equipment, nutrient control, lighting and maintenance.
We ended up getting:
Rockwool
Liquid fertilizer
pH testing kit
Net pots
Hydrotons
Air pump
Air stones
Tubing
It all came out to be a reasonable price even BEFORE the 30% discount from their Black Friday sale plus he even gave me a goodie bag of sample items!
Price-​wise it was really competitive with eBay and Amazon. The only way Amazon was a little better was if I bought all that stuff from Amazon Prime but then I’d have to wait for shipping time and not been able to talk to a live person.
Overall, most definitely recommend if you are adventuring into soil-​less gardening like me. Hopefully my veggies will be super buff in 2014!

This is the best grow store around. Don’t even believe the bad reviewer he is obviously from a competing store.
This is the oldest running store and highly respected by the growing community at large.
They do not have barn burner Internet prices but they do have competitive prices and also what they do have is trustworthy quality products that are fresh because they serve such high volume.
And they will find anything you need and help you learn how to use it.
I know this because I have been coming to the store since they opened.
If you want quality products for a good price and be able to talk to someone to give some sound growing advice for beginners or a pro this is the place to come.

I’ve been to a few other hydro shops in OC and most of them have an elitist attitude and crazy prices, now OC hydro took care of me from the moment I stepped in. Doug, Jack, Andrew and boss man (I don’t think I was introduced yet) all very knowledgable and friendly. Even though i prolly buy less than others they always have time to say hello and treat me like a regular. Thanks again guys!

Nice guys here. As a rookie gardner, I appreciate the time they spent educating me a bit. The shop is clean, staff friendly and knowledgeable.

Unsure if I would recommend these guys. Prices definetly a little steep and they dont offer much of a discount. I hear they are coming to the south bay to offer this same unprofessional unfriendly business. They did have some stuff I needed though.
