Maybe it was an off day but i was not impressed… I ordered the catfish, fries and baked beans. The catfish and fries? Good. The baked beans? Straight out of the can and warmed not cooked! My wife ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad which was a joke. I hate to leave a bad review but on this place they need to step it up. The décor fits the area which is nice but the staff was not dressed in any kind of uniform. Just street clothes. I will not return when in St. Louis.

Horrible experience and we didn’t even eat! Walking in and seeing only one table used should have been our first sign. They were NOT friendly. We had to get our own high chair, the server acted as if we were bothering her, they had a kids menu but no kids cups, and the tea and soda did NOT taste right. When we told the server we were leaving, she still had us pay for drinks that we only took a sip of. Almost 9.00 for 3 drinks(yes she charged us adult prices for a kids drink). Absolutely absurd. Don’t go there if you expect even mediocre service. You won’t get it.

Horrible service and the food was mediocre. I went with my family Saturday evening and we waited for our food from 6 pm to 8pm, it even took 30 minutes to receive our drinks. Once the food arrived it was mediocre and definitely not worth the wait. The manager was rude didn’t apologize or bother to offer an explanation for the extreme delay. I understand that it was busy but if a service establishment can not offer great service when it’s at capacity then it should not exist, or maybe look at downsizing. I will never recommend this place to my friends or family.

My friends and I went to Marcel’s on the recommendation of the front desk worker at our hotel. I asked her about a place(8 pm at night) that still served BBQ and I was sent here with friends. This is a large bar in the landing. Only a handful of people were downstairs with people playing pool upstairs. I had the brisket, potatoes and fried corn on the cob. Side dishes were ok, brisket was below average. Friends had ribs and didn’t like them. Said they were fatty to inedible. No beers were on draft and a very limited bottle selection. Only one bartender who was friendly enough but would disappear for gaps of time. Bud bottles were fairly priced at three bucks. I’m shocked this place is open as long as it has been. Nothing special besides the location. Just keep walking and find a better place down the road. You will be better off!

Read a lot of negative reviews about this spot, but honestly I have no concerns. Came to shoot pool with a friend of mine(pool is free by the way), food was good. Service was just ok, but I’d go back. Give the new place a shot!

Well two stars because the friendly staff. But wow the food was terrible. Went here on a whim and I’m regretting that decision as we speak. Id say avoid at all costs. Probably a cool spot to drink but do not consume the food. I cannot warn you enough. Do not eat here.

Went Sunday afternoon, the service was great and the food was hot and reasonable priced. Had a ribeye and grilled shrimp, cooked perfectly really delicious. Also the sampler platter was awesome. Cheese planks amazBalls. The music came straight from a nursing home, but all in all enjoyed my visit. *Also was using a Groupon wasn’t valid for the ribeye but still a good value.

I purchased a groupon while in St Louis one Saturday. Walked ½ mile to get there which I thought was a nice cool walk through an interesting area. My 7yo daughter and I walked in and it was completely empty on a Saturday at 12:30pm. The only customers were about 5 – 7 frat looking guys at the bar. There were three bar tenders. No one greeted us when we came in. We stood at the«Hostess will seat you» sign for literally 10 min and no one said a word to us. The bar staff even looked annoyed in our direction a couple of times. In a normal situation I probably would have walked up to the bar and asked to be seated but the whole vibe in there was hostile and poorly lit. It had a sketchy vibe and the ABSOLUTELYHORRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE was just totally insurmountable. Despite having paid $ 12 with groupon for $ 20 of food, we got out of there, went around the corner to the Spaghetti Factor and had a great lunch. It was a horrible experience. Horrible.

The food was horrible. The ribs were so hard you had to struggle to cut through them with a knife. By no means were they«falling off the bone juicy» as the menu described. Came out cold, was just a very unpleasant eating experience.

I was invited to a birthday party here and was surprisingly disappointed in the service from the server. The food was okay but the service overshadowed the food. The server took too long taking our order, forgot to bring our drinks completely. When I went to the bar to get our drinks(all the way downstairs) and she saw us with our drinks afterwards did she apologize?! No, she said oh I did forget your drinks… blank stare :-/She tried to tell us a garden salad was a cesar salad, like we can’t tell the difference. So when she realize we weren’t going for that she still«forgot» to bring us the salad that came with the meal. I felt we were being punked. The only reason I gave it 3 stars because of the atmosphere of the facility, out had a hip and urban flare. The food was not a value which I wouldn’t mind paying for if the service was better.

Only because they don’t have a zero star rating. Arrived @ 4:45pm on a Saturday. Welcomed us when we walked in and told us sit where we wanted. There was only 2 tables taken a total of 6 customers. It took about 15 minutes to take our order, ordered food and drinks at same time. About 50 minutes later waitress came by to tell us the kitchen was backed up and our food was coming. Our kids drinks never came. Food was delivered cold, order was wrong. Beef brisket had hair in it. We left and 5 other tables did also.

A relatively new place I found on Unilocal and decided to try for a lunchtime burger. I was the only customer in here on a Saturday afternoon? I order a burger with fries. The menu also has bbq, and a good variety of other items. The burger was good, but nothing to set it apart from any other bar burger. The fries have some seasoning on them, and are good. The staff was very nice, and attentive, but not to much so. They have no draft beer yet, but are working on the system.

Ok. New venue on the Landing. It’s cool. It’s hip and when they get it all together, it has the potential to be one of the hottest spots in the Lou. Pros: the Coleman Project Band was good. There are four levels to this club, pool table and darts, dancing and the main attraction. Something for everyone. Cons: party started at 7 and they were out of Moscato by 8. Took over an hour to get our food. It was crowded but still. Overall, this place has a lot of potential. Even though I’m not a «clubber» I would take out of town guest here that want to do the club thing.

Marcel’s located on the landing a very beautiful historic bar and restaurant with five levels. The food is amazing you have to try Marcels T-Bone Steak and the amazing chicken wings season to perfection. Also the orange dream sicle cake that melts in your mouth the taste brings back the dream sicle bomb pops we use to get off the ice-cream trucks back in the day try it you won’t be disappointed. Also on Tuesdays karaōke and Thursdays comedy you won’t stop laughing. The servers very customer oriented and professional. Oooh… how did I forget the free pool tables and dart games you can’t get anywhere downtown. Check them out you will enjoy yourself.

Marcel’s is an exciting new addition to the bustling Laclede Landing. For those who do not want to gamble their hard earned savings away, stop into the entertainment powerhouse of the riverfront. With 4 lofty levels, free pool daily, delicious mouth watering baby back ribs and a menu to die for. Why go anywhere else? They are open daily, and close late of Friday and Saturdays. Once the staff is stabilized, this place could be a huge winner.

We were in downtown St. Louis for a Rams football game and I told my kids that STL had some great BBQ. This was the only legit BBQ place I could find within walking distance from the stadium so we decided to give it a try. My first impression was borderline 5-star. The atmosphere and décor were welcoming. We chose to sit upstairs where they had free pool and darts that would keep my two boys occupied during the wait. The server was nice and attentive and had some good suggestions from the menu. Knowing my boys would want some of my ribs, I ordered a full rack! When he laid that thing of beauty in front of me, man-o-man was I excited! That’s where the 5 stars ended. As I tried to find a place to dig into the ribs, I was expecting them to just pull apart so I could pass them around the table. Wrong. I had to grab my steak-knife and cut them apart. Then I had to gnaw and tear with my teeth to get the meat off the bone. They had a decent smoky flavor, I just don’t think they were cooked long enough. My disclaimer is that we were there around 3:30 — 4:00 pm so maybe they just needed a few more hours. I’d rather have the server tell me that they need longer to cook if that’s the case and I would have ordered something else. I’ve had more tender ribs from the deli at the grocery store. I was so disappointed. My kids got burgers and they looked fresh, but the meat was obviously pan fried and nobody bothered to drain off the grease. They were good, but far from great. Fries were good, the BBQ beans were okay. We left full. Portion sizes were plentiful and the prices were good. But as we walked back towards the stadium I couldn’t help but look in the window of the other restaurants and wished I would have eaten there instead.

As a caveat: I used on line ordering and got it delivered via grub go. It was almost a comedy of errors… So many phone calls to modify the order. Out of fries. Only one brownie. No corn on the cob(used instead of fries). The food itself: Turkey breast: sort of like the shaved turkey breast you’d get at the grocery store in a package — only grilled… Subpar. Came with a roll though. And that was yummy. Baked potato. You can’t really mess up a baked potato(unless you don’t cook it all the way). And they packaged everything for it really well. It was massive and it was a good price. Props. Brownie(the one out of the two ordered): pretty darn good. Because it was carry out it was literally just a brownie. They didn’t send along the ice cream(most restaurants do — marcel’s did not for this or for the apple pie they substituted for the second brownie). Consequently, it was not at all worth the $ 7.39… But it was good. Have yet to try the mashed potatoes or the apple pie… But overall? Meh.

Great food although the service can be slow at times(it’s worth the wait). They have a wide variety of barbeque, southern food, and sandwiches. Looking forward to trying more of the items on the menu next time I return.
