Best spot for hc in stl. Out of towner, tried a few in the neighborhood, Blades is def the best that I’ve tried. These barbours truly care about making you look good! *Spoiler alert: if you love your moustache, careful, they might hack it off!

I paid a visit to blades for my bi monthly haircut. Upon walking in I was greeted like an old friend. The staff is fantastic. Very laid back, but professional at the same time. I had an appointment with Morgan, who is a magician with the scissors. She easily took off a few inches and just as many years. Even better you dont feel rushed what so ever. If you dont live downtown, it is well worth the trip in for thier services. Well done guys.

If you are looking for customer service, continue looking! Both appointments my partner made on two separate occasions were neglected. What’s the point of an appointment if you can’t be seen within a reasonable amount of time? Twice, they asked if he could come back in two hours. This review has nothing to do with the quality of hair cut, it’s strictly about this business respecting their customer’s time.

I went into Blades after walking by one evening. I am very picky in my barbers/​stylist. Called in and Joey got me in a chair the same day. I told him my long term goal for my hair and he knew exactly how to fade it. Looking around everyone was doing a great job! Def coming back!

I was in town for work and I needed a clean up on my head and beard. A woman named Amanda did my head and beard trim, and she a pretty good job on the clean up and she didn’t expect me to participate in too much small talk, so I would rate her about 8.75 on a scale of 10. I usually prefer lines to be cleaned up with a straight razor. As for the shop, the atmosphere wasn’t bad, but the music was a bit uninspired.

Can do same day appointments usually. Went with Clarissa my first time out and it’s been an awesome cut each time.

Morgan was epic. One of the best cuts I’ve ever had and not expensive even a little! Will be back for sure

If you are looking for a professional hair cut where the stylists take their time to get it right, this place is for you. I’ve never had a bad haircut here and they don’t rush through cuts to make money on volume like a great clips or super cuts.
Appointments are recommended but you will have to wait without one. A men’s haircut will cost you $ 25 – 30 but it’s well worth it. I’ve had cuts from Clarissa and Amanda and both were excellent. They both took the time to explain my hair type and what types of cuts would look best with my features.
The ambiance in the shop is a plus too. Cool vibe with music playing.
I would definitely recommend this place to any guy looking for a quality barber shop. If you don’t like being processed by hair chains, you are tired of getting a cut from some old man who is not up to date on style, or you don’t like being surrounded by gossip girls in an estrogen-​loaded women’s salon, this place is for you.

I love this shop! It has a great, comfortable atmosphere in a convenient location. The stylists are all really nice but I had Adam B do my hair and LOVE it. Some of my friends go to him now, too. I highly recommend for both Caucasian and African American hair!

They’re getting a one star from because there’s nothing lower. My first and second times there (walk-​in) were both good experiences, and I was treated well and received a great cut. The third time, they told me they didn’t have any openings and that I should have called ahead. When I told them I did call 5 days ahead and left a message, they said «oh, we don’t pay any attention to messages.»

These guys did a terrific job keeping me appraised of the time for my appointment and made me feel right at home with their kickback atmosphere. I would recommend that you make an appointment.

Just moved to town and this is the first haircut I’ve gotten since arriving. Will definitely be going back as Mark is very knowledgable about hair maintenance and does a great job with the shears.

Great haircut. Steven was great. Walk in, got me in quickly and would definitely go back when I come back to town. Trendy hip spot but not over done. Props to the owner for having a fine establishment.

Went to Blades on a whim while on vacation in St. Louis ‘cuz my hair was at that «I can’t do a thing with it» stage…
It’s always a scary thing going to a new barber but Jessica put me right at ease. She offered me a beer and got me comfortable, and then gave me what turned out to be an amazing haircut!
She took her time and switched up her tools to get exactly what I was going for, using a 2 high on the sides and then a 1 lower down. She made sure there was a clean fade between them before I left, and no noticeable line.
She used the scissors on top and after getting everything where I thought I wanted it she added «texture». Something I’d never heard of. But it made all the difference in the end result.
The décor at Blades is awesome, but the stylist made the experience for me. If I lived anywhere near St. Louis Jessica would be my new regular stylist. As it is, I’ll go back if and when I’m back in town.

Haircut took a while, but Mark really cares about making his customers happy (even when I told him I’d only be in St. Louis for the week). Was worried about getting a haircut in a new city but Mark did a great job.

Stylist was great, I don’t remember her name but she got right to business with good conversation… not too much and no odd silence — just enough, she was good. I noticed those playboys while I was sitting and waiting … haha, nice. I explained what I needed done and she made it happen, my hair cut looks great…
Look out for the dog when you walk in :) great dog, don’t run away… certainly liked the music… kinda that garage style techno/​house music, good stuff. Listen, if your a dude and you need a haircut in a man cave looking spot w/​good music and magazines, then come through. You won’t be disappointed in the haircut and service.
It beats going to super clips and/​or clip r us… whatever they are called…

This review is on behalf of my hubby who got his haircut here today. We came by around 1:45 and they were busy, they said 2:30 would work out great so the hubby went back at that time.
Haircut cost $ 21.00 and for that price you expect a premium cut. At other places like Rooster’s you get things like a cold drink, a fantastic haircut and a straight shave to the back of the neck to make the edges sharp. There were other guys that had beers in their hand but I wasn’t offered one. Not that I’m rating them based on their drink service, just saying that it’s part of the experience and it seems unfair if there is unequal service among customers.
The end result of the cut itself was okay but sitting on a barber’s chair for an hour is ridiculous. The barber’s clippers were «broken or something» so she ended up borrowing another barber’s clippers but not until the other barber offered. So in the meantime she tried to use the scissor and comb method which is fine if it’s done professionally. What happened is that it left an arc looking line across the side of my head. After she borrowed the other barber’s clippers it looked fine but the whole process shouldn’t take an hour.
Also, there are various methods in order for getting excess hair off of the head and face in order to not get it on the customer’s clothes such as vacuuming, shampooing or brushing. None of which were used! Instead she took the robe off with all the hair on it so it ended up all over my white shirt. This type of service is just unacceptable for the price. I really wanted to be a regular, especially since it’s so convenient living downtown, but I just can’t bring myself to go for $ 21.00 when I wouldn’t even go for $ 10.00.

Haircut was good. Attitude of female stylist was disappointing and pretentious. I won’t be coming back solely because of this.

Stopped in on a work trip to Saint Louis for a shave and a haircut. Jeni was my barber and did an excellent job. She was friendly and meticulous and listened to what I wanted. The shave was great as well, she even took the time to pluck out my nasty ingrown hairs because my skin sucks. I don’t trust a barber shop that doesn’t have Playboys in the waiting area, and they did. I’ll stop in again on my next work trip!

Ask for Monique she’s a sly superfox who will make you look like a balls to the walls bonafide rock god. She’s also super awkward and nerds are welcome. Great place, loved the atmosphere, the staff — will definitely go again!
