Best burger in Texas. How sad to see them gone. They will be missed. Never understood why it wasn’t packed for lunches from word of mouth alone.

Heard that Hydes will be closing and Corkscrew BBQ moving into the building. Sure will miss the burgers and easygoing atmosphere at Hydes

This is a burger! No sourdough bun or smoked Gouda cheese, and DEFINITELY no kiss a** service I love supporting my local business and this is one of them. Take a group, or just by yourself and sit outside on the deck and enjoy your plain olé burger, fries and a cold beer. Live music Saturday night

One of our favorite places to eat. The fried pickles are my favorite. We love the atmosphere and they always have a game on. Great place for burgers and family friendly.

This place was not good. We waited an hour for our food and the food was gross. I think my sons gravy was rotten. Worked in restaurants for 8 years… this was not ok.

This place is the real deal when it comes to burgers. It’s not a fancy place and it’s not fast. Your patience will be rewarded with a great tasting homemade burger. The owner is usually always present to give a friendly wave. Also, on nice evenings you can sit outside and sometimes there’s live music.

Yes, people it’s slow, they warn you about that on the menu on the wall. It’s slow because they start making it after you’ve ordered it, and also because everyone is pretty laid back in there. Atmosphere is pure Americana(Texana actually). The burgers are big, tasty and homemade. Have them put jalapeños on your cheeseburger.

This is just one of those places with cold beer and great burgers. Always good but don’t expect anything(except the beer) to be fast. Be sure to bring money for the jukebox too.

I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. After telling my family & friends of what happened they won’t be returning either. My boyfriend and I picked this place because we’ve never been before and upon arriving had no idea food had to be ordered at the back counter but the staff let us know very quickly by THROWING a menu on our table and saying«Order at the back.» and just walked off, after going over the menu for a minute and discussing the poor attitude we decided to go elsewhere. After placing our menu back at the back the short blonde blurted out that«Yall are rude!» all because we decided to go elsewhere. I’ve managed plenty of bars and restaurants and could not believe it was in any way acceptable for the staff to talk to the customers like that. The manager/owner was standing at the bar drinking his beer not correcting his staff on appropriate restaurant etiquette. This place has the potential to be excellent, too bad the owner doesn’t care to utilize them.

Not happy took an hour to get 2 burgers and i went through half of mine before getting to any meat that was then completely dry and lacking flavor. Fries were cold and onion rings mushy what a let down will not go back

The fried pickles were to die for. Really comparable to Katz’s but less drive and less fuss. Loved the home feel of the place too.

My wife and I decided on Hydes Café for a beer and snack, after shopping and rubbernecking a while in Old Town Spring on a late Sunday afternoon,. Really, really wanted to like the place, since it kinda looked like a small town café. But it was just average, with a few negatives that outweighed the positives. You place your order at the bar, then take a table. The menu is posted on the wall behind the bar and seemed to be pretty much just standard bar grub, with reasonable prices. Other reviewers have described the décor accurately. On the wall menu it says«the best food and slowest service anywhere.» «If you can’t wait, tell the waitress to cancel… this ain’t McDonalds» Folks, you had better take that sign to heart… BELIEVE it! There were only two other tables occupied in the whole place, yet our simple little order of a burger basket and a Frito pie took 32 minutes to bring out! 32MINUTES! Ye Gods! Well, we certainly had time to become better acquainted with the place. There is a sticky feeling on every surface… the table, the chairs, the napkin holder, the condiments. Then went to the men’s bathroom… «cozy». Have been to cafes of every type all over the US and Canada in some remote areas… never encountered a permanent sign posted adjacent to the toilet that says«Do not put toilet paper in the toilet. Put it in the toilet paper barrel.»(Apparently, somehow, that’s not a Health Department violation) I’ve seen that in 3rd world countries where it’s somewhat expected. And my wife said it’s the same in the women’s restroom. Food finally arrived. The chili was very meaty and tasty, but very dry. The burger basket was very average, OK. Wouldn’t return under any circumstances. What is the food wait when there’s actually an average size crowd? (Have been posting my reviews on B4UEat, but moving over here now)

Loved this place! Happened to be in the area doing some shopping at Old Town Spring and stopped here for lunch. The burder was awesome! I had a bacon cheeseburger and it was one of the best in awhile. You can tell they cook it fresh and use good hamburger. The fries were not as crispy as I like but that is perfectly fine by me. I will go back again next time I am in the area.

First let me start with agreeing with other posters here, If its crowded and your are pressed for time, then run for the hills. Service is friendly but extremely slow, now mind you, there is a sign that tells you their service is slow. Food was good to great, Wife and I had cheeseburgers, we shared fries, and had two soft drinks, came out to eighteen bucks, not cheap but wont break your bank. Cheeseburgers were HUGE, lots of meat, lots of flavor. great atmosphere. lots of stuff on the wall to look at. Would I go back? Probably not, there are other Hamburger Joints close by that are equal in flavor and have better service. again food is good its just the service that makes it a no go for me.

The burgers here are great. Sit outside and watch the trains roll by. Lost one star because it is a bit pricy for a burger joint.

Went to this café on a friends recommendation and it was just as good as he said it was. We sat at the small counter/bar and visited with the girl who worked the register. She was very friendly and gave us lots of info on the place. They have live music every Sunday evening usually outside if weather permits. They are also dog friendly on the patio and large grassy area where the dogs can run and play. Our order: cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and onion rings and a grilled chicken sandwhich with fried okra. It was all fabulous! We went on a Sunday afternoon but definitely plan on going back for the live music show and bring the dog!

This is a joint among joints… they take pride in the fact that they are not Micky-D’s…you get your food when you get it and if you don’t like it… well…don’t let the door hit you as you leave… But the food is well worth whatever your wait(which is never that long)… Best basic cheeseburger I’ve ever had… great chicken fried steak(plate and sandwich)…great bbq… killer fries and onion rings… The beer is always cold… Great place to hang out…

Cute rustic casual café with lots of character. If you’re a photographer there are many unique pictures to take of the outside eating area with all it’s unique signs and license plates. Hubby and I have been here and have done that previously on a prior visit. The inside is a large open room with a country casual atmosphere, jute box type machine and more license plates. Gf and I went here for a quick lunch. You walk in and go straight back to order your food. Burgers and fried appetizers such as speared pickles, crab jalapeño poppers and zucchini fries seemed to appeal to my taste buds. I ordered the fried speared pickles, crab jalapeño poppers and unsweet tea. Appetizers were freshly made not frozen. Both were yummy but not addictive. They definitely were good enough to order again. Bummer the tea was warm so it made the ice melt quickly and dilute my needed caffeine fix. Don’t order if crowded and you’re in a hurry. Sign posted that it may take time. Gf ordered hamburger and was happy. Not sure of her # rating for it. This café is located in Old Town Spring on a little street in the north end.

DISCLAIMER: 4-star rating may depend on what hat you prefer. If you wear a Disney hat, or felt fedora, or some yuppie hat, you may fynd this place 3-star. If you wear a hat with logo of a sports team or oil field equipment supplier, you will lykely rate this 4-star or hyier. Or, if you just love Texas small town local-folk cafes, then you will like this charming place with local character. Should you eat here? Y not? Menu has affordably-pryced standard country café selections, but the waitress confyded it is their burgers and BBQ that are best. Beer appears to be the prymary adult drink, and Big Red and other sodas for a chyld. A patron says a seasonal special is buzzard chili. I abyded and got the burger(no mayo). It was large. The bread was better than average. The meat was clearly made by hand. The condiments were fresh. Overall, it was a good traditional burger. The syde of French Fryes were plain(the 3⁄8 inch thick kynd), but perfectly cooked. I guess Mr. Hyde did not add seasoning because that would be a Dr. Jekyll thing. Service is limited, and I hear it’s slow sometimes(weekend nyghts?). I was here on an early weekday evening, so service was not a problem. Waitress has a sense of humor, is very frank, and makes no snyde comments. Music was louder than I like, and a guy standing at a myke besyde a table with an empty tip jar is at the Karaōke machine lyghtly singing over a great country song sung by a Texan. Occasionally, a Cajun song is thrown in the mix. Bathrooms are clean, and there is a framed picture of John Wayne in the men’s room. It’s not on a main street, so it does not catch the dryve-by crowd. It is mainly a local hang-out. The place has a ‘been there a long time’ feel and is worn. There are cute and funny signs here and there, including the wall menu. Car lycense plates cover the walls, with some old farm tools, too. A few dryed peppers are tyed and hanging. The place is about 5 tables wyde and 8 deep. Lighting is dimmer than most places. The tables and chairs are plain and probably are scooted over for dancing sometimes(in a way, the place is reminiscent of the Blues Brothers country place, minus the chicken wire; and here the crowd clapped to a rendition of Tammy Wynette’s «Stand by Your Man»… this café and locals have a good sense of humor). Part of the property is a grassy area for kids to play(I think there was a small slyde). Perhaps that green area is called Hyde Park(?). Before you leave, be sure to pick up a small can of «Sun-dried and road tenderized» Armadillo. Or, at least swallow your pryde and read the funny label, and smyle. My turn at the microphone: «All my X’s live in Texas … but You can’t Hyde your sly in Y’s» … Tip jar, please:
