I was at this location when they were still doing business as «Car X», about two years ago.
I came in for an oil change, and left with a broken turn signal…
I realized going in there that I had a burned out tail light, but that wasn’t my mission for the day– just oil. I was informed that I needed the light board replacement (the plastic part in which the bulbs plug into). I declined, and decided to investigate it myself.
I put some thought into it, and the more I thought about it the more pissed I got, so I gave them a call:
«Why were they even touching my lights at all? I came in for an oil change and now I have a broken turn signal on top of an already burned out tail light!»
The manager assured me that his mechanic only bent the plastic board in order to see if there was a short somewhere. I rejected his offer of a repair discount since they had zero business touching my lights. What I did agree to was the free part he offered me which I could install myself. Well it turned out it was complete bullshit to begin with– they tried to get me for an extra $ 100 when the problem was $ 10 worth of BURNED OUT BULBS. My original light board was fine and I never used the free part I was given as a consolation prize.
In short, either by negligence or by design they tried to extract more money from my wallet than they deserved. Needless to say, I would NEVER give them my business again.

They are a very honest shop and have helped me out when I have had failed attempts at repairing something my self on my own car. Kenny the manager, when I had a 2006 Ford Mustang that had bad ball joints that were going out prematurely at 45K miles informed me of a Ford service bulletin and told me to go the dealer to have them replace due to faulty design on the control arms. He gave me the print out to go fight with the dealership. The also have a great deal on their oil changes.

Being a single female, it is important that I find a garage where I do not have to question the integrity of the mechanics. Thanks to a couple of male friends who have found this criteria to be true of the Excel garage in Spring Lake Park, I began getting my car serviced there a few years ago.
I am pleased with the quality of service, the honesty of the managers and the fact that they remind me of necessary, not extra, items that need my attention.
I highly recommend this garage to all who are looking for the same qualities I have found at Excel in Spring Lake Park
