The food is just OK and the service is subpar at best. Don’t expect a lot and you might be happy. :-/

Let me just say that the Hickory Tavern, for a regional chain, it’s pretty decent quality food. It isn’t the service that kicks the rating down a notch; it’s the selection of food. And it gets really expensive if you’re getting a sandwich or a burger. Every Wednesday they have«trivia» night, as well as 65-cent wings(in increments of 6 or 12 wings). Trivia here is pretty challenging! You get rewarded with $ 30 gift certificates if you win first place! :) I got 12 hot wings and a side of fries. The cooks forgot about my fries first, but the waitress took good care of that. The hot wings are out of this world! Just the right amount of heat plus some peppercorn sprinkled onto them. If you love wings, I highly recommend coming here! Yummy! As for the fries, I was a little let down. I’m not much of a sucker for thick, fluffy fries. Now, the selection of appetizers is really disappointing. The whole menu is bombarded with next to nothing but Mexican food – no mozzarella sticks, no pretzel bites, etc. I will die for some mozzarella sticks. The desserts – are a whole different story. Do you love brownies and ice cream? Well, dig in to the Brownie Sundae! It is rich and flavorful with a nice, big, warm and soft brownie. Outdoor seating here is really beautiful. There’s even a few couches where you can gather with your friends for some drinks and watch a sports game on TV! For the Wednesday trivia and 65-cent wings, this place is a good dive! But if you’re gonna go for a sandwich or a burger, I would find somewhere else, personally.

Changed a lot on the menu it seems. What we ordered off of it was no longer offered. They got rid of some of the classic best sellers our waitress said, and I could tell. Not sure why these decisions weren’t made by local management instead of ‘corporate’. What we did decide on was good. Service was 7 out of 10. Chips a bit stale though

Well. They improved for awhile. Just left after waiting for a togo order that sat for 10 minutes getting soggy while no one bothered to bring it to me. Complained to the manager, who apologized and seemed perturbed that I was upset I watched my food sit. No offer to comp anything, just half assed apology and look of annoyance. Real shame. However I should have known, the past two togo orders I’ve placed sat as well. Was a decent place. Was. However the icing on the cake is we were charged significantly higher prices than what the website menu quoted, proportionately significant. I didn’t mention this to the manager because my temper was already lit.

Literally like 2 minutes away for where I stay. Great place to chill at night and have a few drinks. Good people, no drama, food is great, alcohol is good, and women are beautiful. What more could you ask for?!?

Great food and GREAT service. Prices are fair for what you get.

Went last week to see if it was any better than our last time. Food took forever to be served. We thought our waitress was cooking the food as she vanished after taking our order. Without better management I think they may not last much longer.

I go here a lot, just for the hot wing chared. They have the best wings in town.

In trying to be fair in my review, I had to give Hickory tavern 3-stars. I’ll make this easy to follow because there’s good and bad which depending on your mood may not be an issue. The Pros — — Outdoor deck was awesome and out of the smoke. — The food was delicious. I ordered the 8oz fillet with sweet potato fires and snap peas — perfect! — The menu has great selections The Cons — — The smoking & non-smoking section were only separated by… air. Absolutely nothing. So as soon as I walked in I was inundated with smoke from the bar. — The drinks were lacking. I’m a margarita fan and this was by far the most substandard margarita I’ve had in a long time. They also ran a special on Long Island Ice Teas, which were equally as bad. Maybe just a bad bartender that night. — The service was slow, although I have to give credit where credit is due, the server told us she was training a new server, however it seems that neither of them really paid us all that much attention. Overall, with all the above, I gave it a 3 because in comparison to some other places, it really wasn’t too bad. Plus, they put up with a table of 1030-somethings having a birthday party, so it wasn’t exactly an easy table to please.
