4 of us showed up at 9:32PM on Tuesday January 19 for dinner. We had come straight from the airport. The restaurant was completely empty except for 2 employees who were just standing around doing nothing. Posted hours are until 10:00PM. They would not seat us telling me that they do not seat groups of more than 2 after 9:30PM… Really? It was 9:32 and they would not seat us. They suggested we get the food to go. I informed them we were staying at a local hotel so this would be a problem. They didn’t care and let us walk. Not very friendly or hospitable. Won’t go back

The food was decent, but the dining area is too close for comfort. It is so small, it’s comical, and umcomfortable. So get carry out!

Person at the register wouldn’t let me redeem a digital coupon. Food was way too salty. Asked for medium spice and couldn’t taste any spice at all.

review for online order/delivery: i ordered chicken pad thai and fried rice. ordering online was easy except i didn’t get a confirmation of my order which was strange. then after waiting the estimated 45min for delivery still no word about my order. i called and they did end up getting my order to my home, but it took twice as long to arrive(about 1.5−2 hours). once the food arrived the pad thai noodles were over cooked and were short like the type you might find in a soup. and i’ve never had a bad fried rice. but this one had so much soy sauce and the rice wasn’t even sticky. anyway i won’t be ordering from here again.

This is BYFAR the best Thai Restaurant in the area. They always have great service and the quality of their food is excellent. I usually get the Von Sen which is a Bean Thread Noodle or the Yellow Curry(C8). I probably come here 3 – 4 times a week and never leave disappointed. The prices are also super reasonable! I highly suggest.

Stopped in based on Unilocal reviews. Chicken Satay was mostly dark meat and had to be separated from fat/gristle to eat. Was expecting usual flattened white meat on skewers. Maybe I’m just spoiled by Thai/American cuisine? Chicken Prang Curry was mostly white meat, and Medium hot as requested. Just found it odd that the only vegetable in the dish was green peppers, nothing else. Chai tea was good but I won’t be coming back.

SETTING: Located in a little plaza. Easy to miss if you don’t quite know what you’re looking for. Look for the purple and yellow(I don’t quite understand the color scheme) fluorescent sign. It’s a bit small, but it is very clean and well lit for casual dining-in. Seems like more of a takeout place based on the other people waiting around us. FOOD: Got the Pad Pak Curry which consists of cooked vegetable medley(baby corn, broccoli, napa cabbage, water chestnuts, etc) with white rice in a shallow bowl of the red curry. I ordered it with chicken. Sometimes, I just want some good comfort food. Although I’ve had some more authentic Thai food, Café Thai fulfilled my needs for this trip on a cold night. Sizing was pretty average. SERVICE: The kind waitress was also the one taking orders and handing out the take out items to other customers. She had a lot on her plate, and did her best to check up on us. IMPRESSIONS: Not bad, but also not too memorable. Pricing was pretty standard. If you need some straight-forward, no-frills, comfort food on a budget, Café Thai might do the trick.

Note that this plays gets 4⁄5 as a takeout restaurant. As a dine in restaurant it would get a 2.5−3. I ordered the yellow curry with chicken, «hot» spicy level(I would recommend medium). It was good, decent for takeout, but definitely not near at par with other Thai restaurants that I’ve been to. The curry was sweet, creamy, and spicy all in one and the chicken was well cooked. They obviously used frozen peas, carrots, and potatoes you get from a bag at Krogers. Overall, if you’re hungry, want Thai food, and don’t want to drive that far go here and get«to go». If you want a nice Thai make the effort to go elsewhere.

Fast and friendly service. The food was delicious. The dining area is small but clean. There is a lot of takeout traffic but several diners too. The only minus is no alcohol.

Ok, here in libel Southfield on Microsoft’s dime for an interview and I only eat local when I travel. Small café seats about 20. Warm staff. Awesome food. Nough said. Btw Pad Thai = traditional awesomeness.

My friend and I had dinner at Café Thai and I ordered the Pad Ped. The portion(READ: plate) is smaller than it used to be. The spice level — hot — was Asian hot! Good job, Café Thai! I used to dine in at least once/month because I worked across the street. I am a creature of habit and would always order Pad Ped. While their prices haven’t gone up, their plates shrank like Shrinky Dinks. It makes me sad because I was looking forward to having some leftovers for lunch tomorrow! Tip: there is a 10% off coupon(printable) on their website. Kinda makes up for the smaller portions! — 1 star for being sneaky and using smaller plates. — 1 star for sub-par service.

I work nearby and have been coming here for lunch for years. The dining room is very tiny and the carry-out line is often out the door at lunchtime but they do their best to accommodate their dine-in guests given these constraints. I come here exclusively for the noodles though I see lots of folks do the curry and rice dishes as well. I believe their pad see ew is the best in the area — by A LOT! I get it with chicken medium spice adding vegetables(usually bean sprouts) and it’s delicious. The noodles are perfectly cooked and the sauce is flavorful with just the right amount of sweetness — it’s never greasy. The spice level is slightly above average in my opinion so go mild if you’re unsure.

The panang chicken was good but the fried rice was dry, disappointing. I used to go here all the time but something has changed, the food isn’t as, dare I say authentic, as it used to be. Not to mention the thai iced tea was orange and tasted like syrup. Also, no more shrimp chips(boooo). I’ll keep looking to find that perfect thai spot.

This place is hands down the best Thai in metro Detroit. I’ll drive thirty minutes when I’m in the mood for Thai rather than going someplace closer to home. It’s right down the street from work which is dangerous! They get nuts at lunch so go at 11am or 1pm to miss the crowd. Their seating space is small and snug but the patrons are friendly. I love their Apple salad, spring rolls, and FR3, I get it medium with chicken, no baby corn and add pineapple. AMAZING. The staff is so friendly and considerate, for a while I would call so often for carryout they knew my voice and my order. I love meeting people for lunch here because everything is good and the service is great.

Called ahead to specifically order my favorite dish and the order person stated it would be ready in 10 minutes. Arrived 10 minutes later, paid and sat down to wait. 10 minutes later, Individuals coming in and ordering received their order before me… I thought this strange so I asked about my order and all the cashier could tell me was she told the kitchen staff that I was waiting… 10 minutes later the food was made available. 30 minutes after calling in I received my order. The food was delicious, the order and ticketing process is not. The place is small, and calling ahead is suggested, but it’s obvious they placed order behind all the rest before starting on my order… thanks Café Thai! Update — Went back after the events above. and decided to stay as there was seating available. Had the best meal and the service was outstanding. I still recommend calling ahead first for carryout or if sitting down, attend during non-peak times. Great food, but still a very small seating arrangement, otherwise it would be 5 stars.

After a business trip full of conventional food, I was ready to return to a cuisine I like. Café Thai was perfect. Again, I ordered the pad pak curry(creature of habit) and again it was perfect. I am giving 5 stars because I have yet to find a Thai restaurant this good since my original review. Café Thai is the standard against which I’ll measure all the rest. If you live near here, go often. If you don’t live near here, go anyway. It’s that good.

I ordered the FR3(Fried Rice with a variety of veggies) and it was great! I love Thai places that serve a variety a fried rice options. This particular fried rice had egg, onions, peapods, broccoli, carrots and mushrooms. The menu listed water chestnuts but I did not see or taste any in my dish, which is a downfall because I love those crunchy things. The rice wasn’t packed with veggies like I’d prefer, but it was packed with flavor and spice. I ordered hot which tasted great. Stung a little the first few bites. The place is very small inside, I’d recommend take out if you are headed there during the corporate lunch rush. I opted for take-out and it was ready when I got there and still piping hot when I got it back to my office. Overall good Thai, well priced, healthy portions, I’ll probably be back again.

Great soups(Tom sum), and crab Rangoon was really good with chunks of imitation crab inside with cream cheese. I had the pad tahi and it wasn’t as good as others I’ve had in other places but it was still good. I would recommend this place!
