Place sucks. The waitress have no clue who came first in line or last in line. Skipping & serving people.

Came here recently after doing some shopping on Liberty Ave. I have heard good things about Anil’s, so I was eager to try it. The interior is similar to most roti shops, but the staff is very lively. They have a wide selection of dishes, however, I decided to try a doubles, aloo pie, and egg ball. The egg ball was decent, and the aloo pie was amazing. The aloo pie was the best thing I ate. It was soft, fresh, and tasted great. The doubles was a let down. I guess my expectations were too high. The bara was not the greatest and the channa curry needed more flavor. Plus, it is pretty expensive for doubles($ 2). It’s a decent place and will go back to try their curries.

Worst service ever. So unclear on where to stand to get your food. No greeting when you enter. If your Indian you get service first no joke!!! I am white so I was ignored. Someti. ea the food has too far surpass expectations in order to overlook the lack of service. This was not the case.

I have been getting roti from Anils for years, and I have never been disappointed. I absolutely love the morning staff. They are delightful. I usually get vegetarian roti, and it is consistently excellent. I live in Connecticut where we have very few places to get exotic food, so my friends BEG me to bring home roti to them. I even buy extra to freeze, and enjoy when I am tired of bland suburban food. I hope the never change their recipes or their lovely staff on the morning shift!!!

I’m sooooo done with this place. What’s the point of asking for extra pepper sauce in the food? You ask because you hope they atleast wave the pepper spoon over your food. I never get pepper. Asked for an aloo pie with channa and extra pepper… Still waiting for the channa. I got maybe 5 channas in the pie oh and still no pepper sauce! The Accra is atrocious to say the least. No sign of saltfish but plenty of other things to distract you from the missing main ingredient. Again no pepper sauce. Their roti is very dry and the hot foods are hit and miss! Save your money make friends with some trini people and take note– most trinis travel with their own pepper sauce, now I know why! Oh and the currants roll, another trini fav, dry and flavorless.

Used to love coming here to get my doubles and poulourie fix. Also used to order trays of roti for parties and events. However, within the past year I have had two major issues with my orders and as a result Anil’s will be losing not only my business but my entire families’ as well. In October I ordered curry and roti to go. While eating I saw a huge piece of plastic in my food. Felt disgusted and threw it out. Two days ago I decided to give them another chance and went there with my husband and sister. We ordered a few doubles to go. While eating mine I felt something unusual graze my tongue. Lo and behold it was a metal twisty. Stopped eating right away and threw out the food. I don’t know what is going on there, maybe its the fact that they have a bunch of teenagers working there who all look miserable and like they would rather be somewhere else. Either way, I will never again go to Anils. Would rather spend my money somewhere else on Liberty where I won’t have to worry about anything disgusting being in my food.

Had three doubles there. Took a chicken roti to go. The doubles were expertly seasoned. Must have with liberal tamarind sauce and kuchela, pepper as much as you can handle. Awesome flavor ensued. I coulda had two more lol. Great price also for the size. Service and staff were excellent. There was a dancing and smiling(and efficient) young lady at the register. Will get my curry money any day lol. Went after seeing a highlight on TV when Trinidad James ate there. Ate the roti hours later cold. Didn’t even heat it up. Still great curry flavor. Chicken and potato well seasoned. Only one little sidebar criticism. The barra needs to be brought to that golden color, with that ever so slight crunch. Then it would be heavenly perfection. Go!

I was sent here by a Guyanese guy so I trusted that he didn’t have bad taste. Usually when I’m in the area I go to Singh’s but decided to try another spot. My oil roti/buss up was fresh and the curry shrimp & potato served along with it was very good. The shrimp were well spiced, unlike the plain-er offerings at those other roti shops on Liberty. I would complain about a small portion but I think the cashier forgot to charge me for the soda I had so I’ll kindly overlook that. There is a small seating area here but the sink and soap out front is a nice touch to freshen up before eating. And I’m not exactly sure what others say about bad customer service but the guy who took/fulfilled my order was nice and even made jokes with me. Maybe it was just a slow Saturday evening, but whatever. Will definitely be back to try some of the other food and desserts here!

Worst customer services ever both by staff members and co-owner Daughter, the food Is okay, but thinking and the level of services I will take my business somewhere else, but the funny thing is those people can only act up like the way they do in that little part of queens because people will I tolerate them, in Reality they should come to my neck of the wood(aka) east New York and carry like that, lets see if they will last far more have teeth to smile. Horrible, wash out Indian girls with oil in there faces.

Really good aloo pies and authentic west indian cuisine without the long lines at some of the other Roti Shops on Liberty Avenue. The store itself is very cluttered and a bit troublesome to navigate, but it’s small so you get the hang of it pretty fast. The staff is very attentive and serve you quickly. I can get my food and pay for it in under 5 mins as opposed to waiting in line for 30mins plus then getting an attitude at some of the other places in the area.

You’re in Little Guyana(aka Richmond Hill, Queens), why on Earth would you settle for Anil’s, and continue eating there?! The Cons: — — — — — - — Service here is average at best. They either move too slow, or look right past you as if you’re a ghost. — The food portions are now horrible. Some Caribbean places have been cutting back on the meats or veggies they gave you, and you can add Anil’s to the list. If I wanted more Curry gravy and less meat, I could’ve just added water(you know, like you did). — Curries here are largely miss. The duck curries(and I eat A LOT of duck), can be dry at times, and their chicken curry is horrible! Buuuut, they do make some descent goat curry. The Pros: — — — — — - — They do make terrific roti and dhal purri here(which is roti that’s been made with chick-peas) — The doubles here are good(good size for price too). But so are the doubles at about half the places in the area. — The peppa-sauce is good(helps bring the heat to the food’s average flavor) — They’re bakery offers a lot of traditional Guyanese and Caribbean«back-home» delights. These include pholourie w/great sauce, cassava balls, etc. Summer: 2.5 Stars — — — — — - — Overall it’s not a horrible option, but location and proximity to so many better options weighs against Anil’s Roti shop. They’re also dragged down by their service and flavors of some of their main dishes(see my Curry comments above). — If you’re vegetarian, then you might actually like it here. They’re like a poor man’s Sybil’s in some regards. You can see my ever on-going Caribbean/WI list here:

I hate to say but the servers here are not courteous at all, also the lady that is at the register is no help either. I ordered a Aloo pie with stew chicken paid $ 4, when i got home and open it up i got litterally two pieces of meat inside WITHBONESNOBIGGERTHAN A HALFDOLLAR, i was piss, for the high price. When i got back to the store they kept telling me that is how they sell the pies. I wanted a refund, and they refused. They didnt even wanted to correct the situation. One of the servers looked at me and said she knows my concern but thats the way management want them to do it. BESUREYOUKNOWWHATYOURGETTINGBEFOREBUYING

I had been nursing a doubles craving for some time. I live in Elmhurst, where we have an abundance of various Asian and Spanish restaurants, but no West Indian spots. But, being half Guyanese, I couldn’t deny myself any longer. Finally, on one particularly idle afternoon, my bf and I took the trip to Liberty Avenue to scratch my itch. Upon walking into Anil’s, I thought, «Huh. This place looks particularly unimpressive.» But, whatever. I’m accustomed to eating at places that lack décor and ambiance, as I find that they often have the BEST food. Looking at the menu, I was tempted to veer off from my original intentions and get something else. They have all the food in a large display case, and everything looked pretty good. They had oxtail, conch, goat, shrimp curry … my mouth was beginning to water. But, I came for the doubles damn it! Ordered some for myself and my bf. Forgot to ask for tamarind sauce, but got them with pickle and pepper.(Be aware of ordering with pepper. It is seriously sweat inducing, so be prepared.) They were truly delicious, and a steal at just $ 1.25 each. You get a pretty good serving, but if you’re making a meal of it, I’d recommend you get 2. Eat them there if you can, it’s one big yummy mess if you get it to go. My bf didn’t like the doubles too much. I was like«How dare you not like my homeland goodies!!» I forgave him though, bc he enjoyed the eggball, which is exactly what it sounds like.
