South Padre Island Convention Center

This was a great convention space. Located on the beautiful South Padre Island. Easy to find, decent parking especially for vendors unloading in the back. They did not charge for us to use the rolling carts as most conventions do. Trying to squeeze every dollar out of us. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Bathrooms located at both ends of the space, but neither a very far walk.

The conference I attended was hosted at this facility, which is just a few miles from the more populated part of the island. The center was clean & had plenty of parking lots available with minimal walking to get inside. I also liked the view of the bay area from the back of the center. There’s a nice area for you to sit & relax out there, so that’s where I spent most of my breaks.
There is a variety of room setups, which makes it pretty versatile & good for numerous types of activities. Our group took up just a few rooms, including the largest auditorium area, but everything flowed pretty smoothly & the tables & chair setups were pretty comfortable.
The only thing I found strange about this place ended up being the bathrooms. There were plenty of stalls & sinks, but the toliets themselves were outfitted with rotating sanitary covers. Press the red button & plastic shimmied around the bowl, providing you with a clean toliet seat. I get the concept, & yay for cleanliness, but I hadn’t seen it before, so it threw me off a bit. Oh, well. Learn something new everyday!
