This is an upscale restaurant on SPI, which is a welcomed change from many of the mediocre fried fish restaurants. Went on a Sunday night in January. Place was pretty slow. And our service excellent. We were informed that the Sunday night special was paella– which we decided to try. $ 50 for two and included bread and salads. Bread and salad were great. I would not order the paella again. It was mostly rice– only 1 scallop and an array of other seafood and meats. While it was delicious, it lacked enough sustenance for the $ 50 price tag. Would definitely eat there again and try another one of their dishes. Loved the variety on the menu, and the space was really pretty as well.

Very nice high end restaurant in South Padre Island. Our must go place every time we visit the beach. They moved to a new location, much better environment and still good service and food!

Excellent meal!!! The pork chop was to die for, we would highly recommend it. The Jaeger schnitzel was very good although alittle tough it was still nice. The red cabbage was almost as good as my great grandma Pauline’s the homemade apple sauce is a great touch. Great place to come on SPI for a very nice meal alittle fancy for kids. Being a nicer restaurant the prices are about $ 20 and up with no salad. We decided after closing the menu to order a beet and orange salad to share, the salad was presented beautifully a small sprinkle of greens to one side and about 5 or 6 canned mandarin segments with tiny beet segments next to them a piece of goat cheese a drizzles of balsamic and citrus reduction. When we received the bill the salad was $ 15 way over priced in our opinion. Our meal was excellent and the cost of the entrees was reasonable $ 22 – 24, we will return but we won’t be ordering any salads.

The food was great, very nice atmosphere with low lighting and European décor. We had the shrimp and polenta and the stuffed trout, both of which were delicious! Decent serving sizes, you’re not going to get stuffed but that’s probably good since we’re on a beach! The apple pie is worth it! The staff is friendly and on top of things.

I had the Cioppino and it was delicious! To start we had crab cakes. Incredible. I had the cucumber roll which was a nice twist on a salad. My husband had the cowboy steak which was done a bit more than he likes but he didn’t send it back so it’s in him. For checking in on Unilocal we got a free Kranzlers Kiss and it was lovely! Turns out our«waitress» was Mrs Kranzler and she was wonderful. Nice upscale atmosphere. Very cozy. Not beachy so s nice break from the norm on SPI. Must try!

Fell into this place looking for a solid brunch and it was great. We all indulged in peach bellinis and the Crab Cake Benedict, which came served with a side of thin roasted potato slices and a small dish of fruit salad. Ingredients were fresh, everything well seasoned, and it all tasted fantastic.

One of the BEST restaurants in the entire Valley. They feature fresh caught gulf shrimp and seafood, prepared with old-world richness. I highly recommend their Mac and cheese for a pleasant twist on the classic dish. Oh and every dessert is AMAZING.

My wife and I had out of town guests for her birthday. Knowing that Kranzler was one of her favorites, we took her there. Now only were we pleased as usual, our out of town guests were really impressed. The quality of food is great, the selection is excellent and the service is friendly. Mrs Singer, the owner is always there to give her upbeat words and pleasant smile. She really puts her heart into her restaurant. We can give it a great recommendation! This place is spectacular. I have been coming here for breakfast for years but had never made it to dinner. We ordered the tequila shrimp and lemon flounder. The food was delicicous, and they have a great wine menu to go with it. The owners definately made the menu something you wont get anywhere else on the island. If you want something different that is not just fried, give this place a try. You wont regret it in my opinion.

We ate here tonight on a recommendation; we were looking for a somewhat special dinner on a mini-babymoon. Coming from Austin, where we eat great restaurant food all the time, we were pleasantly surprised by the sophistication of the menu and the level of cuisine here. We had a great experience with our server but do think the restaurant could take a few extra steps to match the overall experience with the food(offering fresh ground pepper for salads, white tablecloths, etc.) Overall a very good SPI dining option with an obviously skilled chef, they could just up their game to better match their prices with a few small tweaks.

I’ve read the other negative reviews. If your in a hurry or under pressure to eat fast… Go to McDonalds. Café Kranzler’s is the best restaurant on South Padres Island. Great food and island service. The atmosphere is super nice. Try the Tuna appetizer, it’s incredible. Café Kranzler’s is our families place to go when we want to go somewhere nice or special. We’re glad to have Café Kranzler’s on SPI.

My family went to Café Kranzler last weekend to celebrate my grandparents’ 61st wedding anniversary. Three months prior, they ate at the restaurant and reserved the back room for the occasion, due to wanting quiet and proper lighting for my grandparents’ comfort. They also spoke to the owner personally to request and book the room. When our whole family showed last weekend to eat, they had given the room away to a different party. My grandparents were so upset. They had SPECIFICALLY requested that room THREEMONTHS prior. Instead, they set us up at the very front of the restaurant, where it was very noisy and we were interrupted by other people waiting to be seated. I am so outraged by the treatment of the staff to my family for this occasion. The two ladies who were seemingly in charge kept throwing each other under the bus for the error and neither one of them really apologized. At the very least, you would think someone would own up to the mistake and offer our family a bottle of wine or dessert on the house. No, they avoided our table all night. The only positive note was that our server tried to make up for how we were treated by being very kind and attentive. However, I’m so horrified by how we were treated, I never wish to dine there again. Please spent your money elsewhere.

Worst service ever! We waited 20 minutes after being seated to get our drink order taken. Mind you we made reservations. 1 hr later they brought our complimentary bread. We waited 2 hrs and still never got our food. The waitress was rude and snappy. Horrible attidude from her overall. I asked them why they are taking soooo long to bring out the food and they state«because it’s all made from scratch» seriously?! I make all my food from scratch and it doesn’t take 2 hrs. They should be more prepared! Its as if it was their first time cooking for a big crowd. Never in all of our lives have my friends and I had this kind of service. Well to finish this story, we just got up and left, even after waiting as long as we did. The only reason I give it a 1 star is because Unilocal doesn’t allow me to give it a zero star. I could keep going on and on about all the other things that went wrong but I’m about to eat the fast food we had to resort to buy.

Oh how I hate thee Café Kranzler, let me count the ways. Our dining experience could be labeled as comical if it wasn’t so tragic. i will give the staff credit. They took the term incompetent to a whole new level. Worse, they were unrepentant and almost oblivious to their ineptitude. My friends and I could not help but laugh in disbelief at the awfulness of the service. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

Drove past the other night and noticed this building was housing a new restaurant. Looked up the menu online and decided it was worth a try. How was the meal? Let me put it this way: I’ve been coming to this island for over 30 years, and that dinner was among the best meals I’ve ever had here! Our table had the brie mac & cheese(the kids loved it!), a salad with apples, pears, walnuts, and gorgonzola, lemon trout, scallops, jaeger schnitzel, and Italian crème cake, and the buttered toast points that came out before the meal tasted fresh and delicious too. This building has gone through a few variations over the years. I hope this one sticks… we’d certainly come back!
