About 65% the menu is Americanized Chinese food. 35% is more authentic chinese food. Both sides have their hits and misses.

Ordered the Moo Shi Pork and received Moo Shi Cabbage with maybe 5 little strips of pork in it for $ 7.50. No chopsticks, utensils, or napkins included with delivery order. This place is a joke.

The first time, we tried the pork mixed chives dumpling there before we ordered 50 frozen one to go. It was good. We went there again two weeks later, spend $ 20 again to buy another 50 frozen dumpling with chives only. OMG, it tasted terrible. We called back and ask why your chives dumpling contains a lot egg and rice noodles inside. He answered we can’t make dumplings only with chives. He is a liar. At least you need be honest with your menus. If this dumpling contains rice noodle and egg, list it there. All I know is that it will be my last time visiting there. Such a shame! We can get 4 bags much better frozen dumpling from either traderjoes or hong Kong supermarket . If I can give negative star, I will do that

«Mapoi’s bean curd»(ma po tofu) is awesome. Cook your own rice and then buy some of this to put on top. This place is awesome.

LOOKBEFOREYOUBITE! We have been a fan of the dumplings at wangs for ever. However tonight, we found a wire sticking out of the chicken fingers we had ordered. I returned right away and showed it to the young lady. She said«oh sorry», showed the people in the kitchen and then said she would make us new ones. I said that we didn’t want new ones, we wanted our money back. So a gentleman came and took them off our bill. That was it, no further apology or even acknowledgement of a huge wire being fried into a chicken finger. We will NEVER eat there again.

This is probably THE worst takeout I’ve ever had in my life. A friend recommended them to me and based off their reviews I decided to give them a shot. They get 2 stars based on their prices and delivery time but other than that I warn you STAY away. My rice smelled spoiled, the crab rangoon were super sweet, and everything else tasted like day old food they threw in the fryer and served again. I ended up tossing my plate and eating cereal. Oh, and the portion sizes are ridiculous. The appetizer combo I ordered had barely enough in it to split between my mother and I, let alone my 6 year old son. Most of the other places around that I frequent give more than enough to feed at least 3 – 4 adults and have leftovers. But to be honest considering how bad it all tasted I’m happy there wasn’t any left. Save your money and go to Oriental across the square.

I ordered to deliver pretty late in the night. They told me up front it would be a 40 minute wait, but I’m pretty sure it took less than that. There’s a $ 25 minimum for delivery, and I actually got so much food. It was all really hot and really good. Their combo plates are a great deal.

My roommate and I got delivery from here. Extremely small portions and the scallion pancakes were super dry. They didn’t give a take out menu and we didn’t even want one.

I legit live around the corner from Wang’s and had never been here but now I know why. It was dingy inside and it took a good 5 min for the waitress to come take our order even tho there were zero people inside. She kept leaving the podium and we saw several customers come in, wait a minute or two without seeing anyone to take their order, and leave. So strange. We had string beans with beef, Szechuan fish(less spicy), and some chicken and vegetable dish. Sooooo greasy. I mean I eat Chinese food so I know it’s greasy but this was glistening. Way too saucy too just completely drenched. The veggies in one dish were fresh at least and nice and crispy. The string beans were nothing special. The Szechuan fish was TOOSPICY. I love spicy but my mom hates it so we specifically requested less spicy but they still dumped a ton of peppers on top. Little overboard there – the spiciness even made me choke up. I really like the mala style of Szechuan cooking but not when it’s so spicy that I can’t taste anything else. Go down the street to Oriental. They’re nicer and have better Chinese take out. Also, the water at this place tastes SOBAD. It tastes moldy so that’s pretty f’in gross.

I remember Wangs not being that great awhile ago when I used to live near Magoun. Upon a recent visit I remembered why. The food is terrible. The dumplings were certainly OK. The pork and shrimp that we ordered were passable but the few pork and chive ones that somehow made its way into our order were much better. Hong Kong pan fried noodles were disgusting. The sauce was dark, sour and gelatinous and the noodles seemed stale. It was overall one of the worst takeout Chinese meals I’ve had. The food along with the delivery service(90 Minutes, after being quoted 50) and no chopsticks or any utensils at all makes this a place we will not be returning to anytime soon.

It’s sad the original owner of the restaurant has retired. I’ve been a customer of this restaurant for over 10 years and have always enjoy — no — depended, on the delicious hand made dumplings Wang’s have produced in the past. Oh the warm, delicious, perfect little jewel taste just like«what Lao Lao(grandma) used to make.» Unfortunately, after the owner’s retirement, Lao Lao seems to be retired with the owner. The taste and texture of the dumplings have changed, and no longer providing that warm home feeling, that I have taken for granted every time I dropped by Wang’s. As all good things eventually ends.

Wangs has some really great food at a very reasonable price. plus they are open late. They are not open on Tuesdays though :(I got the general tso chicken which was amazing. My husband got the beef and brocoli and he said it was the best he ever had.

Sure you can get better Chinese food in Chinatown but for late night convenience, Wang’s pretty much wins hands-down in the Somerville/Cambridge area and their prices are quite reasonable. This is a pretty no-nonsense eatery, bare and simple inside, not a place to take a fancy date, but it’s clean, service is decent although I wish they would use bigger glasses for water. The storied dumplings are pretty good, nice juicy and flavorful inside although the dough could be thinner… not sure if I’ll order again. Tried the«Moo shi» beef which turned out to be a mound of chopped and sauteed cabbage in some sort of brown sauce, served with 5 «rice pancakes» and a side of «plum sauce” — actually pretty tasty as well as healthy(fiber, ya know)! Also had the shrimp egg roll which was well above average, and my companion had their shrimp wonton soup(lots of good veggies and the wontons were obviously hand rolled but the soup tasted very packet-based) and pork lo mein noodles, also good. All the food looked and tasted fresh-made, rather than something half-cooked that’s just quickly nuked for you. We had a young kid, probably the owner’s son, doing double duty as cashier and waiter, pretty nice in general. Only strange thing thing is that there was no soy sauce on any of the tables, just a bottle of vinegar(huh?) and a small canister of hot chili sauce. Don’t know if that’s a sign of them not caring, or them being proud of their food and not wanting people to spoil it with soy sauce abuse(a common phenomenon in Asian restaurants, lol). Wish they served beer, would’ve gone well with the food, but no alcohol license is probably a big part of how they keep their prices down. UPDATE11÷30÷15: the Beef noodle soup is outstanding! Nice spicy broth, with lots of tender beef, and solid fresh made noodles. Crab rangoon is also very good, pseudo-Chinese that it is.

This is primarily a takeout place, very small. They are really known for their fresh made dumplings. They are made fresh, delicate, and delicious. They offer them steamed or fried, and you simply must try them. The other Chinese dishes here are fairly average, but the dumplings are exceptional. They also have other fresh made Chinese pastries which are quite good as well. give them a try.

Yay! We love Wang’s! The food here is always good, the service friendly and the delivery prompt. I’m obsessed with the dumplings. Pork and leek are the best.

I’ve been there twice. Decent food — will certainly pass the test. I had one bad experience with the waiter/owner perhaps. Wouldn’t stop me from going there. But, they don’t appear to offer the most friendly customer service. That being said, if you’re looking for takeout, I think that’s pretty insignificant. I’d recommend it.

Cheap, fast, traditional Chinese take out that is absolutely delicious with some Netflix. Don’t expect anything fancy, but if you are craving some good, greasy carbs, this is the best place around.

Don’t expect anything fancy, it’s pretty dark and dismal inside, but man oh man are these dumplings great. They’re small and have thin skins, so you’re going to want to order on the heavy side. You can also buy them in bulk to take home! The sesame cold noodles make a refreshing treat on a hot day, and the white board covered with scribbled specials is worth a close look, but overall: DUMPLINGS!

Was looking for some late night eats in the area and my choices were limited. Unfortunately I think I made the wrong choice. Food was mediocre. Beef from the beef and broccoli had pieces I could not chew. Crab rangoons were bland. Fried wontons looked like empty crab rangoon shells and were pretty tasteless. Fried rice was decent and the broccoli did have a nice snap to it. That’s $ 14 I’ll never get back…

I’m not from Somerville, but I know Chinese food, and this is a place I need to check out more often when I’m in town. To wit: I’m giving four stars on the strength of their beef noodle soup alone. I think four stars goes to places that you preferentially patronize without argument(five for mandatory must-go places, three for good/solid places). Is winter here? Then get their beef noodle soup! Okay, so I was staying with a friend who lives 10 min east by foot on Broadway, so on a neighborhood tour, Wang’s catches my eye, and she mentions that they have great dumplings. My interest is piqued. Later that weekend after the weather had turned a bit, we headed over for the promise of quick dumplings. As I entered the restaurant, I noted a couple of things: 1. The seating interior was small and pretty dingy. 2. The smell was amazing and prototypical for a Chinese restaurant. 3. All the employees were middle-aged or older Chinese folks with aprons. Bingo. I had a feeling this was going to be a good one. Turns out they’re a popular delivery/pick-up restaurant, but I’m telling, you the ambiance is to be enjoyed if you’re not the kind of princess who finds peas under her mattress. The smells revealed a long legacy of proper Chinese cooking, putting me right at home in my memories of delicious restaurants. And the cooks were probably all veterans, which is never to be discounted at any restaurant. Sometimes you can taste experience in food. As the weather had gotten colder, I was distracted from the amazing bulk dumpling prices by the beef noodle soup. This is typically a savory broth featuring chunks of tender beef and hearty noodles. Wang’s noodles were thick, chewy, and scalloped, which is even more awesome(certainly more awesome than your normal thin, cylindrical store-bought noodles). I might guess they make their own noodles? Super awesome if so. The beef was tender and pretty close to perfect, and the broth was on point – darker and more savory than phở broth. This is what you want for a winter meal. The dumplings were great as well – others here have sung the praises of the dumplings – but it turns out that they make their dumpling filling in a slightly different way from what my mom does, which results in a different flavor profile. I think it probably has to do with spring onions or maybe parsley/cilantro? I’m a bigger fan of spring onions than the latter two. But at their current bulk prices, I don’t think you can surpass Wang’s for a great dumpling meal. I would definitely have them again. If they redid the interior and hired suave, presentable house staff, they could be the next hot, trendy restaurant on the block. That’s a thing in Austin, TX, but maybe not in Somerville, MA. It doesn’t seem the owners of Wang’s are contemplating that, and that’s just fine for those who care chiefly about good food.

My favorite dumplings around! I briefly lived in Somerville and ordered from Wang’s a lot. It’s cheap and the dumpling variety is great. I wish they’d deliver to me here in Boston because I can’t find dumplings that compare. Jo Jo Tai Pei’s are definitely comparable, but they stopped delivering to me as well. I was never really impressed with much else besides the dumplings, but they’re definitely worth ordering. My favorites are the pork and leek.

Dumplings = 5 stars. Most of the other food(not that we’ve had it all, but lots of it at this point, we’re regulars) is also 5 stars, but there’s some«meh» moments. Never bad. I’ll just reiterate the«shredded beef with spicy green pepper» recommendation others have brought up, because. Oh goodness. It’s like delicious, delicious fire in your mouth. It is not for the faint of heart. Their drivers and staff are great, too. I know some people have had trouble communicating with them on the phone but I never have. Consistently takes 45 – 60 minutes for delivery, but they’re up front about it, and it’s worth the wait anyhow. Seriously, when I don’t have a bag of Wang’s dumplings in my freezer I get jittery. They’re the best. Pork & leek are my personal favorite and veggie the least, but you really can’t go wrong.

Wang’s! What happened?! Last night, I picked up an order of stir fry chicken/veggie and dumplings. Dumplings were mostly filled with hot air, there was so little pork & leek. In the stir fry, there was a piece of pepper with the label still stuck to it. Gross! Also, the waiter was impatient and snappy. This was a one-star experience, but I’ll give two because they are usually better. Maybe they just thought they could be cheap and scam us because we stumbled in drunk at 1a. However, now I’m wary of the overall cleanliness of their produce. Lesson learned!
