The look of the building is the charm of this place, located in an old cotton gin. Taking a quick tour you will see the old of the premises with the modern technology. The wines are really top quality, some of the best in the area for sure. The only downside to the place is it can get kind of crowed with very many people but don’t let that stop you, it’s a great winery and you will be very happy you dropped by.

Stopped here on a Labor Day road trip in the Texas Hill Country with mi esposa. It had been 6 – 7 years since we’d been here, which is far too long. Easily found just off the road. The building is a very photographic 1800s wooden cotton gin. The staff are friendly and welcomed us to take a handout and then a self-guided tour. We walked around and enjoyed the facility before sauntering(we don’s sashay or waddle – ha!) back to the Tasting Room. We opted for the 8-wine pour. Most wines were good to very good. Being seasoned winos, we are not fond of the sweet wines, which fortunately were poured last. A major drawback is that there is nowhere to sit one’s keister. It would be nice to have just a couple of barstools or chairs. The staff made a small, not annoying, push to join the wine club. We happily took three bottles of the 5-wine blend. Go big or go home I say. We’ll watch these bad boys age over the next few years and compare them over time.

I normally do not like reds, this place changed my mind. The selection is less than ten, but each is well worth a try. I walked away buying 2 cases. Though I live near Temecula, CA, it was worth buying and paying to fly it home as check in just to enjoy it at home. Delicious! I see a trip next August to Austin again for a chance to get these wines.

Small winery but with the trip. Probably not very wheelchair friendly. Tasting is around $ 5 for 4 and $ 8 for 8. Less than an ounce tasting. Staff is very knowledgeable. They do not sell glasses of wine. You can buy bottles but cannot consume on their property. Very limited seating. Tour is very short. We purchased several bottles and went back to hotel to drink it. Across the street is a new small store has opened that sells handmade leather goods and snacks. The owner is planning on many additions in the next couple of years. He also offers Texas wine country tours. Be sure to go across the street if you visit the winery.

Don’t pass Sister Creek Vineyards without stopping by. It is located in an old cotton gin building from the late 1800s. Most of the building is open for a self-guided tour with cards explaining the function of each room. The man and woman working that day were very knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining. The man harassed me for not stopping sooner when I said I had ridden by on my motorcycle on several occasions and did not stop in. I sampled 8 wines, their entire wine selection, for $ 8.50 and was very happy. I ended up buying a bottle of white wine which says a lot since I normally only drink red wines. Sister Creek Vineyards has a lot of awards which is a testament to their quality. Stop by, you’ll leave satisfied.

I’m in love with the Muscat Canelli Reserve, my boyfriend loves the 5 blend so we had to join their wine club! What a great excuse to get out and enjoy the hill country every other month. Great people and one of them I swear is Jeff Foxworthy.

Not your traditional wine tasting but quite worth the beautiful little drive. I loved the walk through while we waited. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and spent a generous amount of time conversing. The tasting was a very low price for the amount of wine we got. I purchased 8 wines for $ 8.50 and my boyfriend 4 wines for $ 4.50. I went home with a bottle and my only complaints are that the tasting was standing and the bathroom was unisex.

The Traveling Winers on Texas Wine Trail This visit to Sister Creek Vineyards was definitely unique simply because of its location. This winery is set in a Cotton Gin Factory from 1885. First of all, as you are driving down the road, don’t blink because otherwise you may miss your stop. All that is there is the winery on one side of the road and the little General Store on the other(gotta check out the General Store — way cute!) It is a very rustic setting and when you first walk in you smell it too… very OLD… almost musty. They have artifacts from that time period from the cotton gin which are kinda cool to look at. We think it would have been cool to construct a tasting bar to match the historical décor to replace the current folding tables covered with table clothes. Just a thought. They have a unique touring experience set up which is self-guided. I have never seen one quite like this before. It was impressive that they had taken the time to offer some«inside scoop» and education for those that like that kinda thing, like we do. This would be a good winery visit for a newbie to wine tasting as you can learn some of the very basics on this self-guided tour. With regard to the wines, we were told by a person at a different winery that we should visit here because they are well known for their Muscat Canelli. And yes, it was good, but more interesting because they add a tiny bit of carbonation to give it just a little snap. Kinda tasty. If you are a history buff, this place is for you. If you like Muscat Canelli, you should stop here and give it a taste. If you are a newbie and would find an educational tour valuable, put this on your trail. Otherwise, we would consider this winery only if you have spare time on your hands. Remember, that is just our opinion(but HEY, we bought three bottles!). We would love to hear your opinion, whether similar or different! The Traveling Winers at The Vineyard Trail

What a charming place. We were actually driving up to Fredericksburg, and Google map took us through Sisterdale and we saw this place on the side of the road and we decided to make a stop. Based out of an old Cotton Gin, great local and award winning winery, not a big fan of the Pinot Noir, but their CAB-5 blend is really good(CAB-3 blend have a milder taste and is my second favorite) $ 4.5 for 4 tastes or $ 8 for 8 tastes. Great value. Love the charm of the building and atmosphere, we picked up a bottle of CAB-3.

One of the better wineries in Texas with their award winning wines. Grapes, when available come from the Texas Panhandle. I was here for the first time about 14 years ago and Sister Creek then did wine tastings out of Riedel glasses. They were new to me then and I have since become a huge Riedel fan. Yesterday, for me the stand out tastings were their spicy merlot and their Pinot Noir was also lovely. No more Riedel wine tasting glasses though. I guess that became to expensive!

Nice staff, enjoyable wines, located in an old cotton gin. Encourage you to do a quick self guide tour. Not really a place to just hang out at like some of the other wineries in the area. Worth stopping by if in the Comfort area and heading to Singing Waters Winery or Bending Branch Winery.

This is a quaint and interesting winery in Sisterdale. It is in a very cool building that used to be a cotton gin. You can give yourself a little tour of the winery or go with a tour group from Cottonwood Tours through the barrel rooms — this is my suggestion as the two are very friendly and knowledgeable. You are given some crackers and the tasting of about 8 wines(about 8 bucks) from dry reds through the sweet whites. I really liked their Muscat Canelli and Chardonnay. They have some great wines and I really enjoyed the property. Bonus: there is a very adorable little general store across the street that you should check out!

Stopped here as part of the Wildflower and Wine Trail. Felt a little rushed through the tasting, but the wines were pretty decent. I ended up walking out with a bottle of the Muscat Canelli Reserve. The tasting room is pretty small, but the building it is housed in is neat as it used to be a cotton gin and was built in 1885.

1st of all Sister creek vineyards was the only tasting room we have visited in Texas that provided a self tour around the viticulture equipment going into making wine. As soon as you walk into the manufacturing aspect, you get hit with a rich smell oak from all different states. The Muscat Canelli is simply the most delicious sweet wine in all of Texas as of current. Our friend that we went with ended up with 2 bottles. Service was funny, intelligent, and personable. I recommend this place for anyone looking for that personal touch in wine tasting touring that mainstream Napa valley lacks.

Loved this place! Couldn’t wait to see where one of my favorite wines came from(Muscat Canelli)! Our tasting guide(sorry, can’t remember his name, too much Canelli possibly?) he was awesome! He was very knowledgeable and informative. He was also funny and friendly and that makes visiting these wineries so much more pleasurable and makes them stand out in your mind. Unlike Salt Like Cellars… that’s a different review. Sister Creek is beautiful and the old cotton gin is just really neat to see and tour. Can’t wait to go back and see them again, so peaceful out there :-)

Great winery in the city of sisterdale, tx. Small quiet town. The winery looks great and has that nice old school feeling. Must try the muscats, they are a must to try. If you try the muscats, you should really try the reserve since they do not serve this in stores. Must stop place if you are in the area or in on the wine trail.

Some lady friends and I ventured out to Comfort, TX to visit wineries a few weeks back and we had a bad experience at Sister Creek. We opted to taste all 8 wines and our server, whose name I believe was David, suggested we taste them all in order from the dry reds to sweet whites, which we did. We had our first two samples, and David skipped the third sample, which was an honest mistake because he was serving other people at the same time but when I politely mentioned that he skipped the pinot noir sample he said«No I didn’t!» rather rudely. I think he felt we were trying to get an extra sample out of him which was not the case. Although he was sure he didn’t skip it, he told us «Well if YOU think so, then we’ll make it right and go back to the sample» and we immediately felt awkward and wanted to leave. David continued to be rude to us the rest of our visit and we wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. Don’t get my wrong, their wine is tasty, I even bought a bottle of their Chardonnay but my friends and I will never go back to Sister Greek because of this incident. I understand a customer thinking one way and an employee thinking another but I worked in customer service for years and regardless of the situation you are never rude to a paying customer who politely mentions a problem. It’s just unnecessary. Luckily, we visited Sister Creek first and continued on to Singing Water and Bending Branch and had a delightful time at both wineries! Our servers were absolutely delightful and completely made up for our bad experience at Sister Creek.

Really interesting winery location. Gives you a definite Texas feel without the bumpkin. However if you are a wine snob and expect a certain décor for your winery, then you will miss out on this really great Texas wine. All of the wines on their tasting were very good. Their Muscats are amazingly beautiful, my new absolute favorite. This was the only winery we went to where we loved everything on the menu. I was very sad we stood up to our rule of only buying one wine per winery because we don’t have that much room for storage. Luckily Spec’s carries Sister Creek.

Cliff’s notes: A winery on the upswing that’s worth checking out. And the book version: 2 years ago our visit to Sister Creek was less than impressive. The people were friendly, the self-guided tour of their storage and processing was cool, but the wines weren’t either of those adjectives. But, here we were wandering aimlessly on a back roads driving trip through the Hill Country, and there came the red façade of Sister Creek. «Why not?» «Why not indeed.» After all, it was at least 3 or 4 in the afternoon on a Friday. Might as well get the week rolling in style. Completely unrelated observation, at least with respect to the wine — the smell of the winery is arresting: oak, wood shavings, and Texas countryside, it’s both familiar and unique, inviting and challenging. Wine being such a personal matter, I’m not going to give tasting notes; that’s part of the fun: figuring it out for yourself. But I will say that they’ve improved greatly since our last visit. The whites are a bit further along than the reds, but they’re making strides. Now if they could raise the overhang over the tasting bar a bit, that would be nice. As it stands now, those of us who are tall are forced to essentially get a decapitated view of the servers. And we all know, headless+wine=freaky.
