We walked in with 10 people and they hustled to get three tables cleaned and pushed together. Very nice and chatted us up about our trip. Gave us tips on getting gas for the ATVs since Silverton doesn’t let you drive your ATV down the street with the ONLY gas station. Everyone liked their meals. The Fry bread is a must to get on anything that offers it. I had the Fry Taco with green chile beans. Very, very good! Quesadilla was good and the Rueben had a ton of thick sliced meat. Several other people ordering breakfast for lunch. Can’t go wrong here.

Nice little place, love the management and has good food. As close to home cooked type food as you’ll get, a little greasy but but not near as bad as most mom and pop diners you see in small towns. Be sure to check out the cinnamon rolls and the fry bread.

Fantastic! A must do. My husband and I split a fry bread taco. To die for. I heard another patron who had one go up to the cook and tell her it was the best food he’s ever had. They were so accommodating they even split it for us and put on different toppings, my husband won’t eat beans. The hamburger and fries looked amazing as well and we heard the were.

I make the drive from Ouray to Silverton at least once a week for breakfast. Everything is SODELICIOUS and HOMEMADE!!! The smothered breakfast burrito will put you in an instant food coma. The homemade biscuits and gravy are a perfect start or end of a day skiing. Super-friendly staff makes you feel welcome every time!

Breakfast burritos are absolutely AMAZING! Owners were super nice and when we asked about taking packed lunches to go they said they were happy to make us something but thought we should check out the grocery store in town for sandwiches! We ended up with incredible breakfasts AND lunch!

During our layover in Silverton during the train ride I researched what was the most highly rated restaurant in Silverton to enjoy our lunch… luckily, Mattie & Maud’s Café showed up! It is a little off the beaten path from where the train drops off, so we were able to get a table right away and place our order. The owners were so welcoming and truly looked like they enjoyed what they do! I tried the green chili navajo taco and thoroughly enjoyed it… this could be a guilty pleasure food for sure! My husband and mother-in-law enjoyed their burgers… said they were big, fresh and super tasty.

We ate breakfast here after reading the reviews on Unilocal and we were not disappointed! This restaurant is located on the Main Street in town. It is a small place, but packed with a punch. We ordered the two egg breakfast plates, a short stack(huge — filled entire plate!), a breakfast taco, and their FRYBREAD. Oh, my goodness! Their fry bread is insanely yummy. We had it with butter and honey. Everything seemed homemade and delicious. The owners were nice, helpful, and accommodating. Great choice!

Great food and super friendly owners, be prepared to wait if they’re busy since it’s just a husband and wife team tho. Anytime we’re in Silverton we always try to stop by for a good home cooked meal. Try their fry bread, breakfast burritos or pancakes.

We couldn’t find this place. If it’s still in business I hope they update the location.

The wait time was longer than we expected, and the food wasn’t quite as good as the Unilocal reviews would lead you to believe, but it was still good diner fare. The fry bread was okay, but didn’t blow me away. The place is in pretty rough shape(for example, the floors noticeably slope). Doesn’t look like it’s «health code violation» bad, though. The best part is the staff — they’re so friendly and polite. If you’re in the mood for a classic diner-style meal with a friendly staff and above-average prices, give this place a try.

My hungry family got off the train and went directly to this establishment to try«Navajo Tacos»… they were delicious! I had the refried bean one and my son and husband had the one with ground beef. I think mine was the best but they claim theirs was. Super friendly service too. Free WiFi too!

We scanned Unilocal and found this four star café promising a tasty lunch. But Unilocal let us down big time. This was the least flavorable food we have ever been served. These nice folks have no business running a café. How they got a Unilocal four star rating is a mystery to us. Dingy, poorly ventilated dump of a place completely lacking any charm or style– but we could ignore that if the food was great. We should have left after someone burned toast and the entire place reeked. We ordered Navajo Tacos which are a southwestern delicacy if reasonably prepared. What we got was a strange version that might have been prepared by a chef trainee from the state prison in North Dakota who forgot half a page of ingredients from the cook book. This was food completely devoid of any flavor whatsoever. Probably less than an ounce of lifeless, odorless ground beef and a transparent red sauce on one taco, no red sauce on the other one. They cost ten bucks each! They should have had a rich sauce, flavored savory beef, green chilies, pinto beans, pico de gallo and some heat. But no. Unsalted, unflavored Ground beef on a spongy undercooked dough smothered in iceberg lettuce and chunks of tomato. Took forever, lunch ran close to $ 35.00 and we fed most of it to our border collie. He had no complaints. With the train, they have a captive audience in Silverton. Certainly there is a better option?

There were rumors they closed down. But they are certainly still open and have the best fry bread ever!

Ok, so I rarely give five stars, but we loved this place… it was food certainly as well as experience. On a lazy afternoon after a couple of days skiing we drove up to Silverton and stumbled in here for lunch. Everything was so fresh and good. I had a Navajo Taco which the fry bread was so good. The kids had pancakes and biscuits & gravy. The biscuits where made especially for us as they were running low. My wife had the meatloaf special… so good. They were so accommodating to the kids and attentive. If you are ever up in this part of the country, this place is a must stop!

Awesome find!!! Silverton by nature is expensive. Mattie and Maud’s is the best deal in town. Frito pie — Excellent! Quesadilla — Excellent! Cinnamon rolls — AWESOME! Family owned — very friendly! The best breakfast in town

Good food, above average greasy spoon grub. The fry bread is excellent! Little bit of a wait but that’s what you get in smaller mountain towns in Colorado, but faster than most we’ve experienced. Definitely a good stop for breakfast.

So sad to taint the wonderful reviews. :(The service was SOSLOW. Stopped in twice and the wait was excruciating.(Two of the female employees were so friendly though it makes me sad again to taint the reviews.) The food was not good. So sorry to say the fry bread was flavorless. Had a burger with fry bread, the hot dog with fry bread and just a piece of fry bread. My husband tried the tacos and they were flavorless and greasy. He never complains about his food! I wanted to have another place in Silverton that we love but this just wasn’t it.

Ummmm, wow! We decided to check this place out after reading about Fry bread. Wow that stuff is good. I had the Navajo Taco which was large and tasty. My husband had the cheeseburger and now never wants one on a normal bun. We came in on the train and were pleased when we found this place wasn’t overrun with tourists. It was a tasty quiet lunch. The owners are delightful and very friendly. We are so glad we stopped here!
