Gretchen is so amazing! Her cakes are beyond delicious and beautiful and she was my favorite vendor that I worked with for my wedding reception. She will do a great job and will not disappoint.

My wedding cake was hands down my favorite part of the meal — The cake was delicious(lemon with raspberry preserves) and the merengue butter cream was simply devine. The cake itself was also stunning. Gretchen was fantastic to work with; sweet, honest, and genuinely kind. I recommend her whole-heartedly and will go to her again for anniversaries! I thought that the cake was pricey to be honest, but it was worth the money.

5 stars!!! Gretchen baked our cake for our wedding July 6, 2013. It was such a pleasure working with Gretchen. She is so detail oriented and didn’t miss a beat. She listened to all our requests and gave us very useful feedback. We also rented a beautiful cake stand from her. Our cake came out FANTASTIC. Our guests(all 150) actually finished off the cake at breakfast the next morning because people loved it so much. Many people said it was the best wedding cake they ever had. We had four tiers all with white butter cream frosting(from bottom to top): 1. Chocolate cake with chocolate truffle filling 2. White cake with strawberries and Grand Marnier filling 3. Yellow cake with lime-tequila filling(margarita cake) 4. Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting I can’t recommend Enchanted Wedding Cakes enough! We tried several different big time bakers before we met Gretchen and it was an obvious choice. The cake was perfectly moist and fresh.

Gretchen is AMAZING. Amazing. First of all, she is just the sweetest person ever, and it was just an absolute joy to work with her during the course of our wedding planning. She was always very timely with emails, very thorough, and there was never a doubt that she would get everything perfectly right. Which of course she did. Gretchen’s cakes themselves are phenomenal. My husband and I are VERY picky with cakes, especially wedding cakes, which are often too sweet, waxy, or just fake tasting. Well not Gretchen’s cakes! They are light, moist, delicious, and as another user wrote, «luxurious.» I can’t tell you how many compliments I received on our cake. It was perfect. The design of our cake was also amazing. We were having a fusion wedding(Hindu/Christian), and we wanted our cake to reflect that. I drew a sketch to give Gretchen an idea of what I was thinking, and she did exactly that! It came out amazing! Overall our experience with Gretchen was perfect, and I would highly, highly recommend her to EVERYONE!

Gretchen made our wedding cake earlier this year. Not only was the cake beautiful and tasty, but Gretchen was a pleasure to work with. Planning a wedding can be stressful, but the one thing we were never worried about was our cake. Since our first interactions with Gretchen, we were confident that we would have the perfect wedding cake. We had two meetings with Gretchen. In the first meeting, we went to her house for a cake tasting. Everything we tried was delicious, but in the end we went with the Orange Blossom yellow cake with buttercream frosting. In our second meeting, Gretchen helped us take our ideas and transform them into a wedding cake. She managed to take a pattern from my outfit and incorporate it on the cake, which was amazing. We strongly recommend Gretchen for high quality service and a wedding cake that looks and tastes fantastic.

Awesome. Gretchen is a consummate professional. Everything went exactly as planned and she gave great guidance as to the flavors, frosting colors, timing of delivery, etc. The FIRSTTHING everyone talked about after our wedding was, «OMG the cupcakes were so good.» And they really were that good. We brought a dozen on our honeymoon and really had to restrain ourselves to not eat them all the first night. My dad, who is generally of the opinion that anything that didn’t come from the grocery store is «awfully fancy,» said, «I don’t know what you paid for these, but they were worth it.» Well said, Dad. We had two flavors of cupcakes: Yellow with Grand Marnier buttercream, and Chocolate with cappuccino buttercream. Gretchen also did a great job with the frosting colors — two shades of purple and two shades of green — so that they looked really special. Highly recommend. Edited to add: Just realized that the picture of the wedding cupcakes shown here are our cupcakes! Told you they looked awesome. :)

My husband and I could not have asked for a more perfect, tasty wedding cake. It was such a pleasure working with Gretchen Ellison. Her professionalism, dedication, and attentiveness to detail are just a few of the many positive qualities she possesses. Gretchen took her customizations of our wedding cake a step further by taking up the challenge of decorating the cake to mimic the origami folds of my wedding dress. She constructed intricate folded pieces of sugar that simply captured the essence of my dress. Everyone at the reception was in awe. I would highly recommend Enchanted Wedding Cakes to anyone looking for an above average wedding cake.

Remember when you got engaged? It was the best feeling in the world wasn’t it – you though I FOUNDHIM — THEBESTBOYEVER — ANDHEWANTSTOSPENDTHERESTOFOURLIVESTOGETHER –YAY!!! Then everyone is happy for a few days and then, you start planning an actual wedding. Yikes. At first it goes well, you put together all this clippings, save a billion photos from Flickr as your favorites, you keep sending an endless list of links from the Knot and various Boston wedding venues to your fiancée, bridesmaids and mom Then you actually start trying to find these things that you’re seeing in magazines and you realize that it’s harder to find than you thought. Well, Russ and I had trouble finding the cake of our dreams. We went to Rosies — yikes! We tried Montillo’s — better experience and better cake, but it’s like the safety school of wedding cakes. Then I met Gretchen Ellison, the maestro of the spatula, the fairy god mother of buttercream. Russ and I rented a zipcar and took the drive to Shrewsbury where we were greeted at the door by Gretchen who had a giant kitchen, beautiful house with about 10 sample cakes for us to look at as well as samples of sugar flowers that she had made. She was totally ready for us, she had a bunch of pricing for us to look over, samples of buttercream designs on little cards, testimonies from other couples, and about 12 magazines bookmarked where she had been featured. She was the politest, most organized, sweetest woman and gave us an exceptionally thorough run down of how she does pricing. She also told us some information that none of the other cake places we had gone to had said — Buttercream isn’t great for summer weddings because it gets droopy — fortunately, we’re having a September wedding, so it should be cooler out. We got to sample 5 cake flavors that Russ and I had selected. Strawberry Grand Marnier Cake Mango Orange Blossom Irish Cream with Irish Whiskey Candied Ginger and Green Tea OMG, we’d tried cakes before but these cakes were luxurious, perfectly constructed and mouth-wateringly good. We decided that the Irish Cream and Candied Ginger were the way to go. She does the cake styles two different ways European layers(more expensive) and American(typical two layer with icing in the center). We decided to go with the European layers. I really recommend Gretchen if you want something a little special for your wedding day. She’s more expensive, but I feel totally secure working with her. She’s an exceptional woman. Before cake making, she actually was a Geneticist! She said they’re really not all that different, except cake making is much, much more fun: D I’ll update after our wedding day!
