I live right down the street from this place and eat here somewhat frequently. breakfast is a bit expensive — but very good. it’s definitely a homemade place and the waitstaff are usually very friendly. portions are pretty big and the food is fresh. the one problem is the food usually takes a while to come out. make sure to make a reservation or call ahead if you don’t have a lot of time. hope this helps.

Food is great, atmosphere is busy but nothing too overwhelming. Staff was professional and welcoming. I enjoyed the couple times I have been here. Would certainly come back!

The onion soup was good and the Yankee pot roast was even better but the broccoli was over-cooked. The service was very prompt. Over all, some of the best comfort food in CT.

I happened to drive through Sherman one day. What a lovely town. Then i happened to drive by the American Pie co. OMG. I picked up a strawberry rhubarb pie, it must weigh 5 – 6 lbs. Best pie hands down I’ve ever had and at least 9 dollars less than Michelle’s pies in Norwalk and way more filling. Brought my wife back for a hike the next day at Squantz pond and an amazing meal. The staff is so organized and thoughtful– we were seated in ten minutes as promised, and it is so cozy. The menus is diverse, but has all the favorites, and they give you enough to take home. Cant say enough, the best breakfast place I’ve ever been to anywhere. Cant wait to come back for another meal and hike.

Great breakfast spot. Lunch and Dinner not as good as it used to be. Good staff, but they need to be more cognizant about cleaning. Food needs to be more consistent.

What a great place. We went for lunch and returned the next day. Large portions of good food served by a polite young staff who understand when you spill a soda or the baby makes a mess. They sweep up under a table every time it changes over. Owner came by to say hello and talk to our 17 month old grandson I’m a new fan, and definitely going back My wife is already deciding what pies to order for Easter We moved to the area a little over a year ago. Our daughter and son-in-law have been to the restaurant but we had not.

Hands up or down, number one in my book! My wife and I like to treat ourselves here and there and take a drive to this place. Awesome service and even greater good!!! The atmosphere is great and even better during the warmer months to sit outside and enjoy.

The food was fine. The dessert was fine. I give it 4 stars because the price was nice.

Good Home Cooking. It’s a little snugly inside, but that is part of the charm. The staff was very friendly.

Come here for brunch. Seriously. The wait might be up to 45 minutes and it’s worth every minute. The only thing I wish they had was seating(during the winter) for the wait time. My favorite dishes are the potato pancake pileup, the breakfast burrito, and my ultimate favorite, the roasted veggie fajitas. The menu is unique and fun to explore. This is not your typical diner brunch. These people put serious effort and creativity into their food creations. Eat slowly and enjoy! Oh and how could I forget– the apricot mimosas. Yes. On your way out, definitely don’t forget to stop by the bakery for dessert. Bring yourself home a cupcake or cookies for later. You won’t regret it!

Based on the numerous positive reviews and awards, we had high expectations coming in for our first visit. We were disappointed. It was quite busy for a mid afternoon though not unexpected given it was the height of foliage season. That said, we were seated promptly in the noisy, cramped and not terribly nicely decorated space. The service was poor and frazzled, with nary an apology for any of a number of slip ups, not the least of which being the nearly hour delay for the appearance of our meals, which we were told(much too late in our wait) was due to my order of wiener schnitzel. It was on the damned specials menu! To boot, our meals were lukewarm and of average taste. We did try a fairly decent but clearly overpriced cherry crumble pie just to give the place it’s full due, but don’t think we’ll be going back.

I have eaten here twice so far, once for breakfast and once for lunch and both times were excellent! It was extremely busy for lunch but they accommodated us in a very reasonable amount of time. I got the chicken blt which was quite delicious and the potato wedges were amazing. We also got a key lime pie from their bakery section(which was filled with a ton of great stuff). I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice breakfast/brunch/lunch or looking for fresh bakery items as well!

Came here while visiting a friend because she said I absolutely needed to try the eggs benedict over German potato pancakes. She was right. Seriously might be the most delicious breakfast I’ve ever had; the eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly, the sauce was perfection, and, combined with the potato pancake, was literally heaven. The portion was MASSIVE and we probably should have split one plate because I could only finish half(each plate comes with a huge portion of hash browns). The dish itself was five stars, hands down. The reason I’m giving the restaurant four stars is because the service was lacking a little. Don’t get me wrong, our server was beyond friendly and had a great personality… but, she was a little slow in taking our orders, giving us the check, etc. We went on a Monday morning around 9am so the place was relatively empty, so I can only imagine how slow service would be on a Saturday or Sunday morning when it’s more crowded. Also, the space itself is pretty small and I imagine it becomes a madhouse on the weekends.

So delicious! Our friend brought us here for dinner. Charming and attentive servers. I was amazed with the size of the chicken pot pie I ordered, and was thoroughly satisfied with it. The crust was so addictive! There was definitely enough for a couple meals’ worth of leftovers. My husband got the chicken fried steak and was equally pleased. Our friend who is on a keto diet was able to modify his order to comply with his dietary restrictions. My only nitpicky notes — I’d possibly recommend not sitting outside, as there were tons of flies swarming while we ate. I even used some bug spray but they were not deterred. Also I ordered a cannoli on our way out — and while I did enjoy it, I felt that it would have been better if the cannoli shell was filled only after the order was placed — and not sitting around most of the day causing the shell to be less than perfectly crisp. However I would probably order it again! My husband, though, was extremely happy with his chocolate cream pie. Looking forward to our next visit!

From the great replies here I figured it was worth a trip — but I was kind of disappointed went I got there and they had no birthday cakes available. I figured I might not be able to get a specific one but nothing. Lots of pies but that’s not going to work for a birthday party.

Outstanding in every way. The outside dining is weird in the parking lot, but they do an excellent job of making it nice. Breakfast food was outstanding. They had a potato pancake that was the closest thing to my Irish grandmother’s potato cakes(never had anything close anywhere in the world. Tho I keep trying.

Small restaurant with an attached bakery section. They’re located in a quiet part of Sherman(not that there’s a noisy part anywhere) just off the main highway, which some of the commuters seem to think is a NASCAR road track. The parking lot is large enough to accommodate everyone, although we didn’t need it as we risked death walking along the race track from a friend’s house nearby. As befits a restaurant of this character in this location, it was also quiet inside — no music. Yay. Very friendly, prompt service. Decent beer list for the area. By that I mean I really couldn’t expect a ten-tap bar pouring every local beer available. This isn’t that kind o restaurant. But they had a Sam Adams seasonal, which is just fine. Menu is pretty extensive. House salad good with nice greens. Tomatoes were a little weak, which was disappointing considering we’re in the prime tomato season. Chicken pot pie — that which the place raves about — was just OK; not enough chicken and it had a slight acidic taste that didn’t work although I couldn’t nail down the offending ingredient. Crust was excellent. The pie is large but not too large for a meal. My vegetarian wife ordered the minestrone soup — also weak and also disappointing given the restaurant. You really expect a great soup here. Blueberry crumb pie crust was a little bland. Didn’t try the pie itself but I was offered the opinion that it was ‘pretty good but not the best’. In sum, a nice place but not great.

My review is based on a bakery purchase only. I had some time to kill before meeting at my cousin’s house for dinner in Brookfield. I was in Bethel working at a customer site and thought bringing a dessert would be only good etiquette. I Unilocaled up Pie’s and with several choices I Unilocaled the«best» Pie and found American Pie Company. It was a considerable ride but I am always up for any adventure and never in a hurray. The ride alone was worth the trip and once you get to the location you will see this quaint county place. Quintessential New England, which brought back all these nostalgic feelings of my early childhood visiting my cousin(Aunt Tina and Uncle Paul) in the 1970’s in New Milford CT. As you enter the bakery you are overwhelmed with awesomeness! It would be hard for this FoodDude to accomplish his mission without overdoing it and buying out the place. I am here for a pie so try to ignore the magnificent array of cakes tarts and pastries. Run the gauntlet of tempting and mesmerizing cupcakes and focus on pie. Now another challenge, which pie. Oh hell give me one of each… no put your will power in check and just get one. When I was a boy(over 40 years ago) Aunt Tina made a fabulous Strawberry Rhubarb Pie so the choice was made since Aunt Tina would be at dinner. This was the perfect choice and of course when my cousin Val saw I drove all the way to Sherman to get it she was amazed that A). I drove all the way to Sherman and B). I found the best pie place. This pie was epic!!! EPIC!!! there was no doubt this is the best pie place the crust was flakey fresh and delicious. The filling was unbelievably perfect. You have to find this place and get a pie your friends and family will be amazed. Well worth it at any price!

Everything was AMAZING. From the vegetable minestrone soup to the ridiculously-sized chicken pot pie to the mouth-watering apple pie… I could keep going(no, really I could because I also got a chocolate chip cookie!) Anyway, the pot pie was perfect. It was huge… enough to feed 4 people because I couldn’t even finish half of it and I was hungry. And the apple pie was perfection. Small complaint: our waitress was verrrryy slow to get our check as she disappeared for about 15 minutes after our leftovers were all wrapped up. But, we were in no rush so it wasn’t a huge deal. Plus, the food was so good it’s hard to even mention that. Definitely give it a go because you will not regret a single bite.

Real Homemade Corned Beef Hash! If you’ve only ever eaten corned beef hash out of a can or food supply chain, you don’t know what you’re missing. Real homemade corned beef hash is the ultimate brunch meat & potatoes game changer. I was visiting with friends who have a country home but are not big breakfast eaters. They slept in and me and my Mr. went roaming about town, fortunately came across the rapidly filling parking lot and deciding to take a chance and come it. Good timing as we got in before the crowds really grew and there was a standing room line wait to get a table. Next time we come up for a visit, I’ll know to be sure to arrive early before the hoards. Menu is massive and amazingly creative. I’m not much of a morning person and trying to choose from all the delicious sounding choices was a challenged. Ultimately I opted for the potato pancake corned beef hash poached eggs breakfast and could not stop smiling in between forkfulls. Looking forward to my next visit to this cute town and having another meal here. It was all I could do not to drive up here just for breakfast this weekend.
