I wholly agree with another reviewer /this is one of the best places in Macomb County for steaks. Ordered New York strip steaks — the 8oz for my wife and I had the 16oz. They were delicious! Choice of soup or salad with many choices to chose from. We both opted for the French Onion soup. We both enjoyed it. Was pleased there wasn’t an extra fee for the choice. The bread the give you before your meal is truly awesome! Fresh baked and warm when brought to your table with whipped sweet butter. Wow! We will definitely be returning in the future.

First time visiting this establishment and I am happy to report that our food was very well prepared. Everyone in our group said that their steaks were cooked perfectly. In regards to all of the potato side dishes from baked to mashed, they too were done well. Those that had the mushroom soup said that it was really good. There are just a few things that I was not impressed with. First, I would have prefered plain butter or at least a savory flavored butter with the warm bread instead of the sweet raisin spread that came with it… personal preference. Next, either the table was too small or the plates were too big. We felt cramped. By the time everything was served we were condensing food/plates. Lastly, the décor was so plain and cheap looking(for a place that sells a $ 22 rib eye) that it made it feel like I was at a chain restaurant. The food gets a 5 but atmosphere gets a 3. That being said… I will be back! But not on a Saturday night. The place was jam packed!

Visited Nick’s for the first time last night. It was very good. Our table had A New York Strip Steak, Top Sirloin Steak, Baked Spaghetti, and Parmesan Chicken. All meals were tasty and seasoned properly. I, personally do not like steak houses that tend to bury their steaks in «15 spices» or assorted sauces. If I am going to pay $ 20 for a steak, I want to taste the steak. And both the Strip and Top Sirloin fit the bill. The wives also raved about the spaghetti(not so spicy you can eat it), and the chicken. We tried the Mushroom Soup, outstanding, with large pieces of mushroom and a thick creamy base. I did not ask how the French Onion was but noticed that the bowls emptied pretty quickly. All in all, we will be going back. Many interesting menu selections. We went on a Saturday evening so it was a little crowded, they probably could have used another bus boy and a couple of fewer tables. Was it a Del Monaco’s? Nope. But I got a really good strip steak for well under the $ 200 I would have paid there, also. In fact, for what you get, prices are really reasonably.

Awesome food, service and atmosphere, loved it all! We ordered the shrimp cocktail and calamari, both very tasty. For dinner both my husband and I ordered the«Mess of perch». They give you a LOT of perch, it was very lightly breaded and pan fried, delicious! Perfectly cooked and not greasy at all. This is the second time we have eaten here and haven’t had anything at all we didn’t like. We’ll definitely be back.

My first time here and the experience was GREAT !!! I liked the décor, wildlife heads all around the place. I also appreciated my T-Bone cooked exactly like i wanted it !!! Also my brother’s fillet was cooked correctly and I tasted it and that too was GREAT !!! The waitress was kinda quick too that she(Jennifer) was young and they were busy too at 7PM ish… they got my business in the future for sure, and yes their bread loaf comes warm on a cutting board and is awesome with 2 kinds of butters !!!

Where to start. Ordered a Opa(flaming cheese). Was not cooked all the way. Service was poor waited 20 minutes to clear table after app and soups. No one asked if food was ok. Ordered the Bull Shooter. 26 oz porterhouse.(Don’t do it) would have got a better steak at Nationals Coney Island. Not sure if they even use real coke syrup possibly Leonard’s syrup. Mashed potatoes are a big negative. Red skins are good. Only reason they got 2 stars is due to the lamb chops. They are good. This is not a steak house. It’s a diner at best. Once again. 1st, service was poor(wasn’t busy) 2nd, cheese not cooked 3rd, steak was 8 mile coney quality. I expect more after spending $ 170 for 3 people and 1 drink.

Like many other reviewers, I found the atmosphere to be the most off-putting thing about this restaurant. The main dining room screams of family night. The décor is outdated and cheap looking, from the ugly chairs to the plywood-looking booths. My husband and I enjoy sitting in the bar area. We eat at the bar in a LOT of restaurants and find that Nick’s bartenders are the most unfriendly around. They never chit-chat or get to know the customer. We have even heard that topic discussed at other restaurants regarding Nick’s bartending staff. Maybe they are too busy, but a friendly bartender draws us from one place to another when we are making our Friday night restaurant choice. In all fairness, the last time we ate at Nick’s, our bartender was very pleasant and friendly. The food at Nick’s is quite good. Their version of bang bang shrimp(I believe they call it kaboom shrimp) is the best around. Unfortunately, it is not on their permanent menu but only occasionally offered as a special appetizer. Their bread and seasoned butter is yummy, and their steaks are tasty. Again, the problem is being charged steakhouse prices when you’re sitting in an outdated, family style restaurant being served by Crabby Patty. Nick’s would benefit GREATLY from a serious facelift.

Meh, ok but not worth the price. The French onion soup had cinnamon in it… who the heck puts cinnamon in French onion soup? Bread at the table was nice. I had swordfish steak… overcooked. The broccoli was steamed a little on the raw side, but that’s the way I like it. My wife had grouper… it was done nicely but obviously frozen fish. We won’t be coming back.

Okay so I’m not sure if I went on an off day but I would say that 3 stars is the highest rating this place deserves. Now I’m not saying it was terrible at all but a better word to describe this place is confusing. From the décor to the menu to the consistency of the food it was all a bit puzzling. So to get down to it. The food was priced at what you’d pay at a nicer steak house but the quality and freshness was lacking. Food came the the table luke warm and lacked in seasoning where it was needed. Sadly the server was a bit on the stern side but perhaps she was having an off day. There were those in our party that rather liked the food and others that were so let down they didn’t even finish their steak. Maybe I’d go here again if someone else was treating but that’s about it.

So we stopped here tonight for dinner. It’s funny how many times we’ve driven past here and never saw this hidden gem! The waitstaff are super sweet and accommodating. Doesn’t look like much from outside, and when you walk inside, it looks like a classier diner, only way I can describe it. But it’s pleasant and clean, nothing about It bothers me at all. They bring warm fresh bread with cherry butter to start! I ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich with steak fries, it was perfection! The fries were rthick like red Robin, and cooked perfectly. Got a side of ranch in a gravy boat, no charge and it was yum! The chicken was seasoned and cooked perfectly and was a big portion, hung off the bun! You can go deluxe and get fries and soup for 2 $ they don’t charge extra for French onion either! That soup was so delicious! Loved it and will definitely return. Try it you won’t regret it!

I’ve driven by this place for years and never been in. Boy am I glad we finally checked it out. Fantastic food! Family dinner on a Friday night. Wife got the seafood medley and really enjoyed it. I got the ahi tuna avocado. It was ridiculously good. Kids meals were standard fare but priced right. We got a side order of frog legs for the kids to try. Four legs was $ 5 and that was a bit pricey. Andrea our server was terrific. Overall a very good experience.

What I missed most while away for the winter was the wonderful lunches at Nicks. Yes, the décor is that of a hunter, trophy heads proudly displayed, but the food is great. Lunch specials start at $ 6.95 for great sandwiches with steak fries or salad, a great non salty onion soup or a tasty bowl of soup of the day, and 6 – 8 other specials that change daily. On Wednesdays for example, they usually have corned beef and cabbage with boiled potatoes and a bowl of soup or a salad for about $ 7.50; a wonderful pan or deep fried Grouper with fresh veg and potato, salad or soup for about $ 9.50; and other specials for between $ 7 – 10. Don’t miss their Mess of Perch if you love fish. Food is much better than any chain, service is good. You will see many business persons here for lunch, and many lunch reunion groups. We know where the good food is, and has been for years.

The atmosphere wont overwhelm you because its a steakhouse, family restaurant, sports bar trying to be all at the same time. If you can get past that the food will make it worth the trip. We had 2 well prepared, well priced steaks and she had a mixed drink all with salads and secondary entrée choices for $ 49.00 bucks plus gratuity… Very good go to type place where it is the food and not the atmosphere you are after.

Everything was good during our meal, waitress was very nice. French onion soup was ok but my husband loves it. Both got prime rib, very good, liked the seasoning… First timers but would come again

The spinach dip was a little too cheesy, bread was great, steak was tender, potatoes were bland. The menu was more upscale than the restaurant. The décor has a «diner» vibe, not steakhouse. I did not like that every(7 – 8) dessert option was chocolate.

Our daughter is in from Hollywood California, every time we come here without her, we mention how much she would love the bread, tonight would be her night. Arrived at 6pm, still plenty of seating, charming hostess gave us a nice table with Polly, whom we have had before & would be perfect for our evening. Daughter ordered Parmesan encrusted chicken over rice pilaf & a crock of french onion soup $ 14 A+ The bride ordered a Burger, Steak Fries & a crock of french onion soup A+ cooked perfectly $ 9 I ordered the Mess of Perch, red skin potatoes & a crock of french onion soup A+ $ 14 Also miss Polly overheard us chatting up the bread & brought us two very fresh hot loaves & the legendary flavored butter, each served on their own cutting boards. One other noteworthy fact, the tarter sauce that came with the mess of perch was homemade &GREAT!

Nick’s is a bit deceiving from the outside. It’s very friendly and cozy inside. I do like the up-north hunting feel with nice mounts on the walls. The servers are top notch. The food I’ve never had anything but the steak here and once you have any of their cuts, you’ll know why. I’m not sure what’s in their seasoning blend, but it’s killer. Every time I’ve been to Nick’s my steak has been cooked perfectly. Hard to find that anywhere that’s not charging top dollar. The vegetables are always fresh as well. Drinks They pour a good drink here. Anywhere that has a heavy hand on the cocktails has an immediate advantage. This is a definite steak place. If you come in looking for something else, I guess you get what you get. I wouldn’t order a steak from a seafood restaurant. My wife and I come here at least a couple times a month.

Atmosphere is confusing… between trying to be elegant as a steakhouse and too comfy like a coney and kinda lodge with taxidermy everywhere. However, getting past that, the food is what matters… and it was disappointing. Other than the saganaki cheese which I enjoyed thoroughly, I had a Caesar salad and a French Dip sandwich. The dressing on the salad had a decent consistency, but it was too sweet… Caesar dressing should not be sweet. To give you an idea, it tasted like if it had a bit of mayo and honey mustard … gah… Anyway, the salad wasn’t the biggest disappointment. The biggest disappointment in my dinner was the French Dip. I expect the bread on a good French Dip to be of good density, flavor, and toast. this bread I got reminds me of a high school football game food stand … just not up to par, but it was decently toasted, I will give them that. The meat is described in the menu as shaved steak or something of the sort… what really came out was pretty much what you taste at Arby’s… very bland… very run-of-the-mill average mass-bought charcuterie from Gordon Food Service or worse… just flavorless… uninteresting… there’s many ways you can liven up a bland piece of meat, but in this case it was just thrown together in a bun and called it good… the Au Jus was also very flavorless… probably just canned beef stock with a few onions… Fries were frozen… You can’t tell me frozen fries represent any kind of savings for a restaurant… natural potatoes are of the cheapest food out there, and it doesn’t take that much to cut potatoes and fry those instead of going with frozen food. What’s even worse, my lady ordered a burger… and it was clear the patty was frozen, the mushrooms on the burger were canned… This is certainly not the right content for a restaurant that charges almost 25 dollars for the afore-mentioned food. I don’t see myself returning.

I was expecting something a bit better from this place. At first glance the restaurant looks ok, but then you see some of the décor choices and realize you are in a sports bar/lodge/diner? That aside, our waitress was friendly and prompt. We started off by ordering saganaki and 2 palomas We heard the bartender and all of the waitstaff twittering about not knowing what a paloma was or how to make it, and it showed; they were awful, and we had to send them back. The saganaki was good and the warm pita it came out with was decent. For entrees My friend ordered a French dip sandwich, and I had a hamburger with mushrooms added. The hamburger was clearly a frozen pattie that they had warmed up and the mushrooms were canned… I’m still having indigestion 4 hours later. My friend’s French dip was even more depressing. They served him flavorless roast beef on bland bread and the ju on the side tasted like canned beef broth that had been warmed up. Overall, if our waitress hadn’t been so nice, and we hadn’t ordered the saganaki, this would have been a 1 star for me, especially given the price.

Not only did I check the ratings on this place before I came here… I h ad to question the lunch menu… until Sue the bartender stood firm in her recommendation on this place… oh yes a must have on your list of steakhouses… the Filet was amazing and so was the Chicken Alfredo… stop in at lunch time and see Sue the bartender the people are amazing and so is the food
