This bank is great. They’ve got complimentary coffee and the workers are a diverse bunch of friendly folks. Not corporate friendly, but sincere, down to earth friendly. Fees are low. I like to walk in and have a human interaction. The workers look happy. Thank you!
I was so tired of corporate banks that charge you bogus fees and then you have to work long hours to get them reversed.
This credit union always gives you the benefit of the doubt.

I am really disappointed by WSECU. I was previously banking with Wells Fargo and was very unhappy with them so I decided to join a credit union. A friend recommended them to me and I’m not sure why she likes them.
Be prepared to have to memorize your account number and fill out a deposit slip. It’s still the 80’s for WSECU.
They are really behind the times as far as online banking, which is a major bummer. I like being able to see pictures of the checks I deposit and everything is done in a lump sum so you can’t see the separate amounts. I like those features come tax time.
A heads up that if you open a new account, expect a lot of holds. When I depositing the check from closing my previous bank account they put a hold on it for 7 business days (!). They don’t even give you half upfront, the entire total is put on hold. When I asked why since it was my closing check to myself from myself the woman looked at me with rude expression and told me they are only accepting this check in «good faith.» How rude! I understand it’s a new account and that others bounce checks, but I couldn’t believe she was pretty much telling me that I seem like that person!
They even put holds on the tiniest checks and every time I come in, I have to ask because every teller gives me a different explanation on how this policy works.
During my last visit, the same woman teller almost didn’t deposit my paycheck because it wasn’t written in proper check form. Thank god she got the stick out of her butt to deposit it because I couldn’t imagine going back to my boss and asking her to write me a new check because my bank won’t accept it.
Bottomline: customer service isn’t that great, they make it really difficult for their new clients on top of the fact that they make it hard for you to be a customer in general. I plan on opening an account with BECU. Also, do whatever it takes to not get the woman who usually is in the greeter cube.

This is a review for the WSECU in general rather than this specific branch. I have been a member for so long I’ll date myself if I tell you. So why do I get such crappy customer service? Is it because my issues have never been encountered before in the history of the WSECU? Or is it because I forget I have to escalate to a specialist before I describe my problem?
For some reason, closing my accounts was a little more than WSECU could handle. It’s been a several-​month-​long saga during which I continue to get asked inane security questions like «Which branch do you visit most often?» Umm… one more time: I never visit a branch. I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA!
It’s nice that they want to hold onto my business, I guess, but how many times do I have to mail, email, call, and semaphore signal them before I get what I need?

This is the best bank ever! I want to be one who doesn’t use a bank at all, but they are so great that I don’t want to leave. I had a car loan with them, and when I lost my job (for the last few payments of the loan) they worked with me on lowering my payment, were understanding and kind when I was late; just said to keep in touch with them. I’ve been a member for 6 or 7 years. They have always been helpful, friendly and efficient. I think other reviews pretty much covered it. I just want to say that they are not like a bank or a lot of business’ at all, they really try to keep their customers happy. If you aren’t banking here, you should switch immediately!

Switched from one of the banks too big to fail. Excellent and telephone online services. They have been crediting my account for gym membership charges that should have ended 4 months ago – which reminds me, I should rate that gym.

I’ve been a member for almost five years and the customer service has always been great. Really great. If you call them on the phone, they are friendly and conversational and they get the job done efficiently. They are also very knowledgeable; when you ask questions, you really get the feeling that they are competent, trustworthy, and can give you good advice.
Also, you can withdraw from their ATMs in $ 5 increments! Helpful if you happen to have less than $ 20 in your account at the time but still need cash… just sayin.
Also, they’ve got a notary public, they’re open on Saturdays, and can offer some competitive credit card rates. Plus, their security is on point. WSECU for the win!

This place is the best bank I’ve ever had. No matter what problem you come in with, they help you with a smile on their face. They’re open until 2pm on Saturdays so you can actually do your banking even if you work during the week. Their credit card rates are amazing. It’s basically everything you could want.
The only annoying part about it is that they don’t have that many ATMs and it’s not always easy to find which other ATMs are surcharge free. All ATMs in 7-​Elevens are though, so that’s not bad.
If you’re looking for a new bank and you’re eligible, this is the first place that I’d recommend. They’re so good that after more than a year with them, my wife still leaves stunned that they are friendly and competent every time.

This branch hasn’t been in operation for several years now. The closest branch in the U district is at NE 45^th & Roosevelt Way NE.

YAY for credit unions!
After banking with a corporate national bank for one year I was already sick of the random fees, regulations, restrictions, changes to the terms… etc…
I was just starting out college and they wanted a 29% APR?! That’s mutiny!
So the pirate in me went booty searching and found this little gem. A credit union that understood just because I am a college student does not mean I am a delinquent!
And so even after graduation I have stuck by this bank for a good 4 years strong. They offer the best rates I can find, minimal fees if I do overdraft, very high security, and every time I come in they recognize me name and face
I’m rooting for the little guys!

I’ve been a member for about ten years now. I’ve had share accounts, credit card and several personal installment loans over the years. They are pretty conservative with there loan standards, but given the multiple bank failures, that is a good thing.
My best friend has joined and they have waived so many fees for her. «This is the last time we can waive this for you» about twenty times over.
It’s nice that I can use other credit union ATMs around town without any hassles or fees.
This is a member owned, not for profit financial institution. Missing the fifth star for not having such an awesome high interest savings and checking as BECU. You were still my first and I still love you!

I’ve been a credit union member for nearly ten years and have NEVER had a bad experience with WSECU. The staff are competent, friendly, helpful: everything the staff at the enormo-​mega-​bailout banks are not and never will be. The reason is simple: the staff at WSECU work for you, not some jackass investment banker or faceless do-​nothing «shareholder» thousands of miles away.
I’ve got a checking/​savings account here, plus a credit card. My credit card rates are low. The times I have prospectively consulted them over home loan matters I have found their mortgage rates are competitive, not that saving $ 50/​month is worth the hassle of dealing with a bank or home loan company.
When friends tell horror stories about the shitty experiences they have with their banks, I console them as best as I am able but I’m smiling inside, knowing my credit union is transcendently full of awesome.

I have completely loved all of the credit unions I belong to… up until now.
And, truth to tell, WSECU doesn’t suck so badly most of the time.
But — can they not get a server that can handle the payday bandwidth of folks checking their balance??? And why oh WHY do they discriminate against potential (UW employee) customers by subscribing to that «you fucked up with a checking account in the past» database that NO ONE ELSE USES?
Hating on them bigtime right now, and I know that hating is bad. But please — what a Mickey Mouse operation! Minus 3 stars.

The folks here are so friendly and helpful. I have a savings account here and come in on occasion to make a deposit. They always, in the most courteous way imaginable, remind me that they do offer checking. They do this is a manner that says, «We’re required to offer this, we think it would be a great deal for you, but please don’t feel like we’re cramming it down your throat.» They get me in and out quickly. Each time an amazing experience. Whatever you do, DO NOT park in the lot next to the credit union. The parking lot troll will watch you park, wait until you disappear inside, ticket you ($ 67) and run. Park across the street in the free parking lot designated for WSECU customers, next to its drive-​thru ATM. Customers can also make fee-​free withdrawals and deposits at 7 – 11 stores throughout the area.
