The windows are papered over and there’s a small sign on the door saying the location is now closed.

Wok box is your typical quick-fire not-really-chinese-chinese-food type of place. They offer a large selection of food and are really quick to fire up their large wok’s to get you your food ASAP. Why did I only give it an «OK»(3⁄5 stars)? Because I have yet to have any food that was outstanding, and they are really heavy on their sauces. Now don’t get me wrong, I like a good sauce… but my food should not be swimming in it. If I want soup I’ll order soup. I still recommend eating there if you are in the neighborhood and you want something that is filling, but don’t go out of your way to travel here just for the food. Oh, and you belong to Fuller Theological(which is housed next door)…just let them know and you’ll get a discount.

I think one star is plenty for this place. The food was not awful but. it was far from great. It lacked the excitement and pizazz that normally is associated with good Thai food. I ordered two dishes to go but when I gave them the sniff test, both failed. One dish was the coconut curry shrimp… quite bland with NO hint of the standard yummy curry flavor that I have come to love from other Thai restaurants. I also ordered a Mongolian beef stir fry… also bland and not worth ordering again. In fact, I have no intention of going back… ever! The Wok Box gives Thai food a bad name and that’s not fair to the good Thai restaurants in town, and there are many much better than this less-than-inspired place.

Pretty good asian fusion for being run by a bunch of white boys. The taste is very good, yet not incredibly consistent. I’ve gotten dishes that I’ve loved one time, and thought was just OK the next because they changed it up on me. They have a good lunch special for under $ 5. It is clean and friendly, they deliver and don’t charge an arm and a leg. A great place to take the kids on a weeknight. The stir fry dishes are just OK, but the entrees and apps are good. I guess you get what you pay for. I explain it to people like this: It’s casual like Baja Fresh. You go pay at the counter and they bring you your food. You bus your own table. The food quality is pretty good. Not PF Changs good, but try the crab won tons or orange chicken. They’ll rock your socks. .

This is my fathers review, I did not taste any of it. He liked it, said it was different than«normal»(and by that he meas house of hong) chinese food, and he keeps asking when i will bring him some again. I liked the price($ 4.75 for rice and entrée) the place was clean, staff nice enough, and from looking at it the food appeared to have lots of vegetables and be very fresh. I will try it myelf ext time I bring him some, I wonder tho because all the reviews suck.

every sauce tastes the same: salt lick there’s lemony salt lick, szechuan salt lick, kung pao salt lick, and peppery salt lick. one time was more than enough for me. enjoy your pickled tongue.

I so wanted this food to be good! I think I got the mongolian beef. The noodles were mushy and flavorless, and there was hardly any beef at all. I can’t remember the other dish we chose. something with vegetables. The sauce could be best described as «gluey.»

Last time I was in here everyone was complaining how much they hate Wok Box but there were only 2 other options in the are and you can only eat that for so long before it stops being good. One lady even commented how she would rather eat the crap from 7 – 11 than eat at Wok Box again. My order was to go. By the time I reached my destination I was so hungry I just dug in. Yuck. Everything was burnt and flavorless. I have only been here a handful of times(3 – 4 maybe?) and every time was a severely sub-par to flat out bad dining experience. I chalked it up to being a new restaurant, but they have had enough time. The verdict is in and they suck.

I drive by Wok Box everyday and 100% of the time I NEVER see anyone in that place, aside from the employees(usually smoking outside). I think people are catching on it’s just not worth it… EVER. Sorry Wok Box, unless you really serve FRESH food for a reasonable price I don’t think you’re going to make it. I’d rather have a Subway!

The Wok Box may not look like a fast-food restaurant from the exterior, but don’t be fooled. Most of their food is frozen, mass produced, and cheap. To top it off, this cheap food is exorbitant in price, be prepared to spend over $ 10.00 for a crappy meal and a medium soda. Sorry Wok Box, I’m out.

Yes, 3 stars. It’s mediocre food w/a trendy atmosphere. 1 full star for the great customer service. 1 star for the food 1 full star for the décor. The girl who helped me was very helpful in explaining the menu when I told her that I had never been there before, but I agree with others that it’s too high priced for what you get. I had the Mongolian stir-fry and noodles dish w/tofu. I’ve definitely had worse, but it could be better for sure! It’s not in my normal travel area, so I doubt I’ll be back.

Out of fairness: the place *just* opened up. Also, I don’t think the restaurant is aimed at anyone who would call him or herself a food snob, much less an East Asian food snob. It’s ostensibly a convenient restaurant for the locale, comprosing of a) SPU students, b) Nickerson St. businesses, and b) random foo’s like me who live spitting distance away. Unfortunately, Wok Box isn’t really convenient nor good. * Food Quality: thumbs down I ordered the Singapore Cashew Tofu stir-fry. It was alright. I don’t think it was worth $ 7+, though. It’s a little better than shopping mall food. * Wait Time: thumbs way down .but at least at shopping malls, you get your food right away. I had to wait 20 minutes for the above. This was right after work, to be fair. However, when you walk down the ordering corridor, it’s not hard to notice how tiny the actual cooking area is. Man, what a bottleneck! I can’t see how this place can serve food faster than 15 minutes if more than 3 people order at once, just from looking at the tiny kitchen area. Staff: nice The people working there were nice, although they seemed very frazzled and really tired. Menu: very confusing Why is an Asian restaurant using the template of a Smoothies menu? They mention«proteins» on one half of the menu, then mention the individual meats/tofu choices on the other side. Why not just list all the dishes, and just put a footnote somewhere that substitutions are cool? You’ll have more real estate on the menu to elaborate on the actual meal descriptions, which diners really want to see but can’t now. I was hoping this would be at least a good spot to grab a bite to eat if I missed a bus. Unfortunately it takes longer to get food here than it would be to wait for the bus on a Sunday schedule. You’ll get faster food by going around the block and ordering a whole pizza at Zeek’s. I tried, Wok Box peeps. I really did. For now, I’m still going to walk the extra blocks to downtown Fremont for my asian food.

I must preface: The Wok Box just joined the US from our neighbors in Canada. Seattle is their first American location. How cool is that? I’ll tell you what’s NOT cool: Their Phở. Those who may have read my reviews should be well aware that I am a Phở snob, to the point of being almost a little bit obsessed. When I found out that this new Asian fusion place across the street from my restaurant-desolate work served Phở, I was immediately intrigued. Some coworkers trickled in, trying several dishes, but all claiming the same thing: «It’s okay. Thai Cart is better.» Thai cart is the van from Kaosamai that chills in the Shell parking lot on Nickerson, and people get a little crazy about it. I sauntered in for a late afternoon lunch, to find the place completely empty. Literally, I was the only one there, and the employees were chillin, talking amongst themselves in a booth. Interesting. Might I mention, and this may or may not matter to ya’ll, but not one of them was Asian. They played Jackie Chan movies on Plasma screen on the wall(no sound, thank god), probably to make up for the absence of employed Asians. I ordered, of course, the tofu Phở, a small. Came to $ 5.40 all together, not a bad price! Actually pretty damn cheap for what I’m accustomed to paying for Phở. The lady said, «You’re order #22, we’ll try and find you when it’s ready.» Obviously a crack at the fact that there wasn’t a customer to be seen besides me. I heard someone yell, «Your soups ready.» Okay… thanks… When I got back to the office, I opened my bag, to find, or perhaps to NOT find a napkin, chopsticks or any other eating utensil. What the phở? Had to get a fork from the kitchen. Took the lid off the styrofoam container, and… What the crap is this!!! What the fuck is black liquid doing in place of my Phở broth!!! I showed it to my coworker who said, «Oh my god, something died in there, I can’t look, I’m gonna be sick.» Against my best judgment, I continued. Dropped the box of teeny fried tofu pieces and oddly thick strips of rice vermicelli noodles into the broth and took a bite. Oil, oil, oil, and more oil. Greasy Phở. Barf. I feel sort of bad giving such a bad review, because I sympathize with businesses trying to make it in America. Plus, they’ve only been open for about a week, and they may still be trying to get the hang of things. That being said, I still thought it sucked. I might go back sometime to try their stir fry, as they do have kind of an extensive menu. Plus, I heard it was«okay.»
