First time here and I’m in love. I’m a fish and chip hunter and stumbled across this place while in west Seattle. Both the prawn and wild cod are bomb. Large pieces and crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Great fish to bread crumb ratio. I dig it.

Best fish and chips in this part of west Seattle! Family run by incredibly sweet folks, it’s our go to since we live nearby. The fish is excellent and well priced! Not a place you’d go for a date, but it’s a great place to get take out when you’re too lazy to cook!

This place is definitely off the beaten track but I’m glad I found it. The fish and chips are great. The women who cook and serve are friendly and gracious. My only complaint is the lack of heat in the small dining area.

Well sometimes good food comes in small places. Best fish and chips in the area and it is here in West Seattle. The fish is moist and flavorful and the batter is light and crispy as it should be.

Good fish, long wait and not a good place to eat in at. You really have to take it Togo. It is winter and the place is so cold you food is cold before you can get out. They need heat in the store.

Wonderful fish and chips! Great flavor and seasoning. We ordered the 3 piece wild cod and it was a lot of food for one person! Next time we will share. Very friendly and nice staff :)

Usually a great experience but today was out of the norm. Fish and chips I once used to love we’re bland, flavorless and fish tasted rubbery/raw. Hoping this isn’t a regular theme, used to have the best fish and chips in Seattle

Great fish and chips and absolutely the best and most friendly customer service in the city.

This is only the second time we’ve eaten here even though we live right down the street. There have been several restaurants in this space, none of which lasted very long. It’s pretty much a hole in the wall but don’t let that stop you. The first time we went they had just opened and had yet to work out the kinks as any new business does. The food was OK but nothing to write home about. We waited a long time before trying it again and this time we were extremely pleased with the quality of the food. We shared a prawns and chips and a cod and chips. Both were delicious, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The prawns were huge and obviously hand breaded. I get so tired of ordering prawns only to receive the pre breaded, pre-frozen crap so many places try to pass off as fresh. Not the case here, I give them a 10 for this. Same goes for the cod. Also, the portions are big with plenty of fries, which were also delicious. They were out of shrimp chowder and that was disappointing but on the other hand gives us an excuse to go back as if we needed one. Prices are fair, maybe even a bit lower than most of the other fish and chips places we go. Trust me, this place is a keeper. Finally, they now accept credit cards, which makes it even easier to stop by when you have a hankering for a great plate of fish and chips.

Fish and Chips are absolutely one of my favorite meals. I believe it is a meal that should be simple, affordable, and of course delicious. This place meets and exceeds my expectations! Seattle has many options but if you are in Alki or Downtown get ready to have some deep pockets. West Seattle Fish and Chips keeps the cost low and provides brilliant meals. The dining is simple and works well if you aren’t planning on take out. The only concern I have is service… While you are greeted by smiling staff that is as quick to take your order as to fry up your fish, there tends to be a disorder with staffs children running around which leave me a little uncomfortable. Regardless, support this restaurant as their food is great!

The best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time! I’ve driven by this place a million times and never thought to swing because of its location. Didn’t seem like a place where you’d get fish. Plus the parking is limited in front. But I decided to Unilocal them and found them listed as no.2. So I went and I’m glad I did. My go to fish and chips from now on. Sorry spuds and sunfish:(

Bad bad not good. Waited 40 mins for our to go order. It was all pretty bad. Frozen fish fillets cooked to rubber. Greasy. Had to pretty much babysit a workers child while we waited. Chowder was a let down. Im disappointed and out 40 bucks. Sad when ivars blows you out of the water.

I’m so lucky to work across the street from this place! The owner is friendly and always recognizes me even if it’s been months since I came in. The cod is always crisp on the outside and flaky inside. I really love the house-made coleslaw — it’s a treat in and of itself. They were cash only for a long time, but they have a square reader now, which makes it much easier for me to come more often.

Excellent fish and chips! I usually am picky about my fish and chips and tartar sauce. Sorry don’t like Spuds(tasteless) but this place is really good. I love the tartar sauce it is really tasty. I buy a few more of the tartar sauce to have at home, they are only a quarter. If they can add clams and oysters to their menu, I will be sitting pretty.

We have been searching for a good fish and chips place for a month. After eating here we are still looking. The fried cod was ordinary and we were disappointed with the batter. This is mainly a takeout place with a few tables inside with a very spartan atmosphere. If you are looking for superb fish and chips go elsewhere. I wish I could tell you where but we are still looking.

Delicious wild cod, chowder and tartar sauce. Everything made in house. Super nice staff. We’ll make it a regular stop!

After many more trips I have to declare this the best fish and chips that I’ve had in Seattle. Also, their fish cakes are just ridiculously good.

Wow! This place has some really wonderful seafood. After taking a walk in Lincoln Park last Saturday morning, my girlfriend and I wanted to get some amazing fish and chips for lunch. This place had really high ratings on Unilocal,so we decided to give it a shot. I’m sure glad we did. The place is small and unassuming. It’s located next to a really good cupcake shop and across the street from the West Seattle library. They take cash only, and the menu has old prices covered in strips of masking tape with new prices written on them in Sharpie. The restaurant is unusually warm because of heat from the grill. Despite the humble ambience, West Seattle Fish House makes fish and chips that can compete with the very best places in Seattle(and win). We shared a bowl of clam chowder and a 3 piece cod and chips. Both were outstanding! The chowder was piping hot, and super creamy and rich. My main complaint with clam chowders is that some place will put lots of potato and very little clam. That is not the case here. Our chowder had plenty of fresh clam and an appropriate amount of potato chunks. The fish and chips were perfect too. The cod had a light, crispy golden breading, and the fish itself was so fresh tasting. It was a struggle to wait for the fish to cool down enough to not burn my tongue before devouring them. The tartar sauce that came with the fish was awesome too. However, the fish was so good on its own, that you didn’t even need any sauce to enhance the flavor. To make things even better, one of the employees gave us a fish cake for free! I can’t wait to go back!

Simply put, since the reviews here don’t require much elaboration, this places lives up to the hype. The clam chowder is awesome! It’s right up there along with Pike Place Chowder. Two of us split a 5 piece wild cod and chips plus two small chowders for $ 27 and struggled to finish it. The chips are good but not over the top memorable. However, the crisp breading and firm, crumbly cod manage to give the impression of a light fish feast in spite of its hot oil bath. I favor beer battered chips, but I still give a hat tip to these babies. The couple that run this humble chippy are very sweet, too. Another couple came in after us and mentioned they heard this spot sold the best fish & chips in Seattle and the lady seemed surprised but flattered. :) Seating is limited to 3 or 4 two-seater tables and some stool counter seats along the window which get rather warm on sunny days even with the blinds. Mind the malt vinegar dispensers since it comes out in a healthy stream that can easily douse your date if you aim poorly as I found out. He thought it was funny though. :) Also, parking is street only but it’s not normally as problematic as downtown Seattle.
