Our host didn’t really set an optimistic tone for us to begin with, but our server flipped the script. She was really positive and helpful. The«Fried Mozzarella Wedges» were really good! As far as breakfast goes, it’s hard to make tofu taste good but they got it down well. If you’re skeptical about the fake meat… I would definitely get the Pancakes! So filling and delicious. I do plan on making a return trip.

Vegan in Seattle — I really, really wanted to love this place. Unfortunately it left me feeling deflated. The main thing was how rushed we were through our whole meal. We arrived around 5 pm on a Saturday. Maybe it’s because they were trying to clear us out for the evening rush? We went with our 2 year old son which meant that I ate more slowly than my husband because I was holding my son on our lap while he colored/played with blocks. As soon as my husband finished, they cleared his plate away. I still had more than ½ my meal to go so that was the beginning of making me feel rushed. Next, they brought the check immediately after taking my husband’s plate, so we’ve been in this place literally 20 minutes from arrival and I still have ½ my meal to go, and I’m already staring at the check. The staff kept shooting me glances every time they’d pass, too, like«Aren’t you done yet»? Finally when I was able to choke down the rest we left. We were in the restaurant exactly 30 minutes flat from entry to leaving. It was not a pleasant experience. Also, my husband’s coffee was stone cold on arrival. And the food was. meh. I ordered the breakfast burrito, which sounded good because I had a hankering for spinach. It had literally like 4 leaves of spinach and was mostly just a flour burrito. Forkfuls and forkfuls of flour burrito. I wouldn’t order that again, certainly. So, as a vegan in Seattle I was desperately hoping to love this place and to have a new«Go-To» dining place, but I think it’ll be a long time before I give this place another shot. For a better vegan dining experience, head to Flying Apron in Fremont and get the lasagne and a nice yummy(i.e. hot) coffee.

I really don’t know how anyone can rate this place less than a 5! They are one of my favorite places to eat. They have such good food and they serve breakfast all day. I can’t recommend this place enough whether you are vegan or not. It is by far one of the most delicious restaurants I have ever eaten at. Their McWayward and their breakfast burger are my personal favorites.

Awesomeness. Wandered in and had The Club. Huge meal great price and service. Was listed as one of the top three Vegan Restaurants in Seattle. Loved the vibe inside and was easy to find.

The pancakes were to die for! I got chocolate chips in mine and a side of peanut butter, amazing is an understatement! My fiancé got the Mac daddy which he claims is the perfect burger. after tasting a bite I can’t say I disagree! I highly recommend!

Finally a place that you can take your non vegan family and they’ll be able to enjoy a classic diner like food that’s completely free of animal products!

I’m a big fan of wayward before the move. Since they changed locations and owners the food hasn’t been the same. Each time we eat there we’ve been more disappointed which is very unfortunate. The portions are getting smaller and the taste is inconsistent. Things are either too bland or way over spiced.

How can this place be vegan? That was my first thought when trying the food. Somewhat guilt free food when you’re wanting to eat out. I love burgers and I have to say their«beef» burger was quite delicious. Friendly team! Relatively quick and cheap for what you’re getting.

This place is awesome! This was my second visit and both times the food was amazing! The portions are very large! So yay for leftovers! :) The staff is friendly and so hip! Breakfast is served all day and that was what I ordered the first visit, this time was the club sandwich! My wife got the artichoke burger and I took a bite and could have eaten it all! So so far all things I’ve tried have been delish!

This place is great for vegan and non-vegans! The food is good and there are plenty of options to choose from. Breakfast served all day! They have a lunch and dinner menu too. I have only seen one to two cooks in the kitchen so expect a wait for your food. The customer service on my first visit wasn’t the best, but the food had me coming back for more. The service improved just slightly.

Been in a few times since my first review, and, while I’ve been pretty happy with the food overall, they really flubbed the experience tonight. Wayward is our go-to spot right now for gf pancakes, mainly because they’re so close. Tonight we ordered three cakes, coffee, and fries. That’s it. We got two cakes despite the order going through correctly, and the«bottomless» coffee was a single cup. I realize it was a bit late, but I asked our server for another cup, they disappeared for ten or so minutes, and when I asked again, they said they didn’t have any more… I just wish I’d gotten that response when I first asked I guess. The food is consistently of good quality, but it is somewhat expensive. I didn’t like the open face«tuna» melt much, but the Sunshine omelette is quite good, especially when the hashbrowns are subbed with garlic greens and gf toast. The gf toast is awesome. The brown rice pancakes are quite good, I recommend getting extra butter with them(that’s my taste, anyway). I definitely wouldn’t steer people away from Wayward. Just keep in mind the variations in servers’ personalities, moods, and that they have long shifts, short shifts, and other lives(as anywhere else). I do definitely suggest going in well before closing.

So update. The food is still awesome. Got the chicken and waffles again. Hubby got the warlock sandwich and liked it. We started out the meal with the wayward platter which was also great. However the Buffalo chicken was pretty spicy. The place was cooler and the aprons were cleaner. Had a great lunch thanks.

TOGOORDER My boyfriend and I were starving and wanted something to go. I had heard great things about Wayward Vegan so I had to give it a shot. I picked two random meals, the filet mignon and the chipotle chicken club. The chipotle chicken club gets a 10⁄10. Bliss. So flippin good, I would eat it every day. The side of potato salad that came with it was delicious as well. The filet mignon gets a 8⁄10. The greens it came with were alright but a bit much when served as full leaves. The filet was pretty damn good but nothing too impressive. I would order it again though ;) and the fries went with it quite well. Hopefully I can come in sometime soon to have a sit-down experience and have the food fresh! :)

I have been going to this restaurant since they were at their original location in the U District. Initially, I thought they closed, but it seems like they moved to a new location half a mile away. I am not vegan or vegetarian, but the food here is quite unique and refreshing. They have a very comprehensive menu covering most types of American comfort food(made vegan of course) and breakfast. Definitely worth trying!

Classic American comfort food and breakfast served all day? What’s NOT to like? Wayward Vegan Café fulfills my childhood obsession with huge plates of comfort food piled high with all the fixins’. It’s a good thing that they’re in Seattle and not located within driving distance from me, or else I would be in trouble. I would come here as often as possible, eating my way through their humongous menu, increasing my pants size in the process. Their food was so good we came here twice in three days. It probably would’ve been three times in three days, but we had so much leftovers from the first day that we ate it for dinner the next night. These plates are HUGE! Think of Black Bear Diner, Claim Jumper, or wherever else Americans get fat. That’s what you’ll find here. All Veganized of course. I wanted breakfast for dinner but spotted their Wayward Sampler app combo and had to get that as well. I could’ve eaten that alone and been satisfied. It was a gigantic plate of their Buffalo Fried Chiggen, Mozzarella Sticks, and Sweet Potato Fries. All for only $ 11. Good price for this portion that would easily serve 4 people as an appetizer. The Buffalo Chiggen was okay but the ranch was fantastic, as was the marinara for the mozz sticks. Speaking of, their Mozzarella Sticks are out of this world good! I didn’t miss those deep fried cheese sticks at all until I tried these bad boys. Sweet Potato Fries are another must order. Just order this sampler and thank me later. I went with Chicken Fried Steak Platter. This is the dinner option since there was also a smaller breakfast choice as well. The big difference is the cheese-y fried mashed potatoes. Trust me, you will want this one for those loaded potatoes alone! My babygirl ordered the Breakfast Club which I’ll allow her to wax poetic on in her review if she ever writes one again… I’ll just say that it was recommended to us by our server as one of their top sellers and I can see why. This take on the Monte Cristo had everything you could want for breakfast, all in one ginormous sandwich. French toast, jamón, tofu egg, cheese, thin strips of tofu bacon, and probably more. This is a very shareable sized sammy that is conveniently cut into four manageable size pieces. I couldn’t leave Seattle without getting some biscuits and gravy. Especially since the beloved Biscuit Bitch ain’t Vegan-friendly. Their biscuits, like all things here are huge. In this case, soft ‘n flaky as well. These are the biscuits I remember growing up(and outward) on as a kid. They have two types of gravy. I’m pretty sure I got the mushroom and not the sausage gravy. I would’ve preferred the sausage style gravy instead but the mushroom was tasty too. I’m pretty sure we ordered more food over the course of two days eating here, but I was stuffed beyond belief! Now I truly know what food coma is. It’s not a good feeling afterwards but it tastes oh so good going in. They practically had to roll me outta there! The service was quick and quite friendly on both occasions that we visited. Anymore visits and we would’ve felt like family. The only thing I can give a minor fault with the place is that since the menu is so large, the attention to detail isn’t always there. Buffalo Chiggen recipe would be better off being rethought. The sauce was delicious but the seitan chunk was kinda blah. Same with the Country Fried Steak. Great concept, but the seitan patty was slightly overcooked Still, everything we tasted had great flavor and was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I just feel with such a huge menu, you will run into a few bombs out of many great ones. Still, I was more disappointed in things that I didn’t get to try, rather than the few nit-picky things of those that I did. Can’t wait to go back or hopefully they expand southward. The Bay Area could totally use something like this!

This place is great – for omnivores and vegs alike! A friend(omnivore) and I(vegetarian) went there and had breakfast. We were both blown away by how good their food is! I had the«Sham and Eggs,» and I only WISH breakfast could be this good everyday! It’s hard to believe it’s vegan, there’s so much flavor and«real» texture, etc. I have no idea how they make a vegan ham and eggs type breakfast that tastes that good – I don’t think an omnivore would be able to tell the difference. My omnivore friend was really taken with his food and sent compliments to the kitchen. Those cooks are working hard back there and have quite the talent! I can’t wait to go back and try other things. Fun, eclectic place for anyone and everyone!

Wow, their food is the BOMB!!! I’ve been wanting to try this place for quite some time and so happy I wasn’t disappointed. Even my husband who is not vegan thought their food was delicious! My choice regardless of what time of day would be their breakfast club – I like something sweet and savory and this fit the bill! It’s a big sandwich, so i ate half and took the reat home for the next day. My husband ordered the meatball sub and he was nice enough to let me try a little. This was very tasty too! I thought the sauce was perfect. Of course you have to save room for dessert, and we ordered the vegan cheesecake with berries on top… HOLYMOLY!!! Get the cheesecake, that’s all I gotta say. Service started out great, but was just«ok» after we actually got our food. That being said, I will definitely return… who knows maybe they were having an off day, regardless, the food was great!

I liked this place. Stopped in for an early dinner and got a tofu scramble. Portions were generous and the food was well seasoned, although I thought my friend’s dish was a tad over-salted. There’s also well-priced drinks here and the service was great. The table next to us ordered some dishes that looked very tempting, will have to come back and try out other options. Overall, a satisfying meal.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all served all day. As a vegetarian, trying to find something veggie on the menu at most places is like trying to find waldo. Here you have the opposite problem. The menu is extensive and it’s difficult to choose since everything looks amazing. Our party ordered the BBQ burger, chicken parm, and scrambled tofu. Everything was delicious. The service was a little slow, which is understandable since the food likely takes a while to be prepared. It did take longer than expected for the server to request our drink and menu orders. So come here for the food and be prepared to relax. If the place looks somewhat busy, consider putting your drink order in as soon as you are seated.

Large and airy, yet not noisy.

Came here again with some friends to have breakfast/brunch. Wasn’t too busy when we went, we were seated quickly but upstairs this time. Nice space upstairs with a good amount of tables. I got the Country Fried Steak… I dont know how they make this vegan but it was quite delicious! Nice sized piece of «steak», crunchy, crispy, with delicious gravy on top, served with a curry tofu scramble and wonderful hashbrowns. Portion sizes are pretty big so come hungry! One of my friend’s got The Farmer’s Hash… that looked good as well, nice & chunky hash with delicious gravy on top with some vegan cheese that comes with plenty of toast. She enjoyed it very much. My buddy, he got the Biscuit Mountain… it was a behemoth of a mountain!!! I believe it comes with 3 biscuits, with the same country fried steak as mines but cut up into small chunks, the delicious gravy on top, all on a bed of spinach. Also served with hashbrowns too. He killed it and he loved every bite of it! Overall, a delicious time and we plan to keep coming back… especially to try more of their menu like the lunch or dinner options.

We came here on our way out of town and ahead of a big hike in Mt. Rainier National Park. We thought a big breakfast was fitting. And this definitely was a big breakfast. I had a cup of tea, which came with an extra small pot of water and one tea bag. My husband got the coffee(which was never refilled). He had the mexi biscuit breakfast and I had the potato cakes. The food was pretty average. The biscuit was really really dry, and the potato cake was decent. I was expecting more of a shredded potato that was crispy, whereas this was more like mashed together potatoes stuffed with a ton of daiya(?) cheese. The veggie patty was not for me(usually isn’t), and the tempeh strips were dry. We needed a lot of water with our meal. Overall, I would probably pass on coming back. The food was too dry and needed something more, green or healthy-ish perhaps.
