Walgreens

I don’t have much to say about this Walgreens except the following:
Smelled terribly of fish outside– TERRIBLY FISHY!
The cashier didn’t bother to tell me the grand total of my order and just stood there, finally saying so… are you going to slide your card or do cash? When I handed him money, it wasn’t enough and rather than finally telling me how much I owed, he just mumbled mostly unintelligibly «do you have eighty two cents» but I only heard two cents, so I handed him two cents. Even then, he offered no clarification on the total. Come on, that’s pretty much your one responsibility as a cashier– tell people the total of their order!
Go here if you like fish and playing how much money do I owe. Otherwise…

Don’t go here to get vaccinations. I am traveling abroad next month and needed a Typhoid vaccine, but my local Walgreens pharmacy was out of the vaccine, so they searched for other pharmacies in Seattle that carried it. The pharmacy can administer an injection, but you would need a prescription for the pills.
I came to this pharmacy at 7:45 pm (the pharmacy closes at 9 pm), there were NO other customers, and the pharmacist tried to dissuade me from receiving the vaccine here because she was the only one manning the station. She suggested I come back the next day between 2 – 4 pm to receive it (I work nowhere near this Walgreens, and the Walgreens near my work and home do not have the vaccine).
I told her I needed this shot as soon as possible, and it was clearly NOT busy. She calls up another Walgreens and tells me that it’s not in the protocol to administer the injection, even though my local pharmacy clearly stated it. I pointed out that the vaccination is listed on the main Walgreens site, and she continued to refuse, even though they had the vial.
At this point, I gave up and called another Walgreens pharmacy that confirmed the original pharmacy’s statement that I could receive an injection without a prescription, but not the pills. What a waste of time and lousy customer service from a lazy employee.

Ugh. The darling drug store from the Midwest is the corporate overbearing aunt of the Northwest.
I grew up with Walgreens, and spent many days and nights browsing the cosmetic section when I lived in Chicago. I was a frequent shopper, and while they weren’t the only game in Chicago, they were the best, especially compared to the downmarket CVS. I wasn’t a fan of Bartells when I moved out here, but slowly they have won me over, and the new changes to Walgreens has me actively avoiding them.
Changes? Well, normally I champion customer service, but the few times I’ve been offered customer service in the beauty department at Walgreens, it feels uninformed. It’s one thing when you feel like the sales person has experience with most of the products they sell, but being a drug store chain, with everything in blister packs, it seems unlikely. And then there’s the CONSTANT UPSELLING AT THE CASHIER. Seriously, I DO NOT want a candy bar. I DO NOT want to sign up for your rewards card. I DO NOT want to take a survey. Can you just ring up my purchase? It’s bad enough that every time I have to hear them try to upsell the person in front of me, and then they do it to me immediately after. EVERY SINGLE TIME. I just want to pay for my stuff and leave. Is that too much to ask?
If you’re needing drug store items, your best bet on this busy street corner is to go to Safeway. While Walgreens has the only 24 hour pharmacy in the area, I have liked Safeway’s pharmacy just fine, and have had great customer service. They also have a good selection of your basic drug store needs 24 hours a day. For beauty, skip this intersection and head to Bartells. I’m also fond of Bartell’s pharmacy.

Nope, moving on from my relationship with their pharmacy department. The employees are lazy and rude. After a mix up with a refill for my pets meds, in which everyone there seemed to be sitting on their thumbs, it was their fault meds weren’t refilled. I got a half assed apology from Joan and I was done. Will not be returning as they are uncaring and unfriendly.

This review is mostly for their photo service – both times my photos came out too dark or with critical body parts cut out. What’s worse is that the manager actually required me to explain why I wouldn’t pay for wedding photos with heads cropped out (like $ 1.50 each) and seemed suspicious until I said I didn’t want to take them home. No common sense here!

Not bad. Drive thru is notoriously full of cars, so be prepared for a long wait. However, I love the convenience of the drive thru.
I always get my prescriptions here except for one, which they refused to special order for me (I get that one from Bartell’s, which accommodated my special request without issue).

It’s ok. It’s a Walgreens. Generally clean and organized. Some of the staff is friendly and helpful, the rest is just there and probably want a new job. The pharmacy staff are very helpful though.

All right, I’ve reconsidered — I guess one ignorant girl shouldn’t ruin it for the rest of them.
I admit, the Pharmacy staff is friendly and usually accommodating when I need something fast. Also willing to answer random questions you might phone in about. («So, how many of these can I take before I pass out permanently?»)
And, they give dog treats to drive-thru’s with canines. Sweet.

This is a standard Walgreens. The staff is friendly here and it is conveniently located (85^th and 15^th). There’s also plenty of parking.

i frequent this walgreens a lot as it’s open 24 hours, walking distance from my apartment, and has my prescriptions. the people who work here are pretty hilarious at night, which is really the only time i go. the people in the pharmacy really aren’t as keen on having conversations as those in the front, but they’ve always helped me decipher the difference between this and that and what’s best for this, and i can’t say that i’ve had a bad prescription experience here.
i can only assume that any walgreens can and probably will at one point fuck up your prescriptions or pictures. it is, after all, a walgreens. i mean… seriously. i know where to go if i want to have matte-​finished pristine pictures of my vacation developed. i also know where to get them developed for, like, six bucks, and so did the people who had some of their pictures lost in translation. you get what you pay for.
what’s awesome about it is that you can get a red box movie outside and then stock up on snacks inside. honestly, i sort of treat this walgreens like the best blockbuster ever. if you wanted a blockbuster that has $ 1 rentals and the option of frozen foods, the widest assortment of instant ramens, your birth control pills, and three for $ 3 candies, it’s called walgreens with red box.
it’s also pretty nice (as someone mentioned previously) to have somewhere to go when you’re knocking on death’s door to pick up medicine, soup, hand sanitizer, and… yeah, a movie.
the only negative thing is that is does get a little sketchy a night. like, you might want to avoid eye contact with the homeless guy taking a whiz next to the h1n1 flu shot banner around 2 a.m. the bus stop across the street can only contain so much obscurity, and what happens is it extends into the walgreens parking lot during off hours. you will probably be asked for change or a smoke, but i don’t really think that’s anything new.

The pharmacy here is awesome. Great staff, quick and easy billing, and drive-​thru window for those chilly days you don’t want to get out of your car!

I like the staff who have refilled my ink cartridges back in the photo department… Great prices, and they tell you if your cartridge isn’t going to work or not — no surprises when you get home!

I usually like walgreens but unfortunately this one is kindof weak, and it’s the closest one to home. The pharmacy is really its redeeming quality, because it supplies drugs when you need them, and like everying else in America, you can get it drive-​thru.
The thing I dislike most about this walgreens is that it’s photo dept. sucks. I keep going back for digital prints for the decent prices and email specials, but do not trust the employees here to develop your film. I had an entire vacations worth of film here practically destroyed due to employees who had no idea how to operate the machinery. I now take my film to Bartells off of 24^th NW and they can do matte prints with a white border in an hour and seem to be knowledgeable, which is very important to me. In fact last time I had real film developed at Walgreens the girl who works at QFC in the Deli across the street had to go around the counter and show them what was up… huh? She just happened to be hanging out there and wasnt even paid for her time. LOL!
Maybe someday I will win the $ 3,000 dollars from their online survey that is on the receipt. This is why I keep going back. That and the $ 1 Dwight Yokam Macaroni Mouth Poppers. Oh and the Lisa Frank stickers, As Seen on TV items, seasonal products, and arizona iced tea Arnold palmers.

I was locked out of my apartment for 3 hours today. I didn’t mean to, I just was stupid and forgot my keys when I left my apartment to run across the street to get a soda. When I realized my pants weren’t jingling as much as they used to, I knew I was in trouble.
How the hell do you lock yourself out of your place? I am surprised that I don’t trip or walk into walls more often.
The first two hours was actually quite liberating, but the third was pointless. In my adventure I got some pizza, hung out in a park, and did a lot of walking. When you have three hours to spare, you really start to observe neighborhood. When did all this graffiti appear in Greenwood? Am I ever going to walk into half of these shops along Greenwood Ave? What is the point of a $.99 store if there are items in there that are more than $.99?
I must have walked by Walgreens like 30 times and only walked in once today. I have been in here before when I wanted to buy a soda and some snacks. But other than that, there is no reason for me to be in here. Actually, there is no reason for me to even review this place. What the fuck am I doing wasting my time and your time with this shit?
The guy at the counter always asks if I want to buy some popsicles. I never say «yeah.» Why the hell does he keep asking me that?
I did end up buying a Harper’s magazine at Bartells. I think I only bought it because I was surprised that Harper’s was at a Bartells. That and I was locked out of my apartment for fucking three hours.

I asked her if she had ever seen my stupid coin trick, the one I call the ‘worst magic trick ever.’
She had.
I mentioned that if we had cards or even paper drink coasters, I could show a slightly better ‘card trick.’ I mean… it amazed me the first couple times Phil E. performed it for me, but I hail from the land of the easily entertained.
She upped the ante by offering to show me a *really good* card trick, but we’d need actual playing cards. We were on our way to drop her off, and this Walgreens was on the way.
They carried decks of cards and gum, both situated right next to the register. That’s what we needed, done and done.
There was an odd moment where we weren’t sure if we were getting a bag or not. Do you snag your items and head out? Or wait for the checker to do their job? We didn’t really need the bag… but on the other hand, that’s usually a pretty good sign that you’re done with the transaction.
Apparently, we were done with the transaction.
By the way, the card trick she showed me WAS *really good.* She did it at least three times and I never figured out how until she showed me.
And yes, I was entertained each time. Easily.
