My review gets only one star because my whole experience was ruined by one bartender who is overly aggressive. This bartender is a larger Caucasian women with a bright pink Mohawk. Now I’ll admit I’m not completely innocent I was really stoned one night and had a paper coffee cup with a tiny bit of a mixed drink in it, I wasn’t drinking it but I forgot I was holding it when I got into the bar. I ended up setting it down by a machine when she came over and asked if it was mine I wasn’t paying attention much cause as I said I was super stoned so I said yes, she opened it and smelled it said there’s alcohol in here u need to get out. I said OK let me get my friends and we left she continued to say things as we left and said don’t do that again and I just replied with a simple OK. I came back again a month later on my birthday and she saw me and freaked out started yelling saying I need to leave I’m 86ed I asked why she said cause I started a fight and I yelled at a guy for saying my pants were to tight all these different things and I brought in alcohol now I admit to the alcohol and thought since she said don’t do it again and I said OK things would be fine but she stared accusing me of all theses things I didn’t do and so I got my friends together and left. I had to wait outside for a few friends finishing there drinks and she comes outside of the bar and trys to talk yo me again basically trying to antaganise me to get a rise out of me and I just ignored her. I hear from a friend that is friends with another bartender there that she started attacking random girls yelling at them thinking there me and someone else who was the real girl who started the fight. It has been 6 months since I’ve been there and she’s still getting upset and attacking random girls. I think she is the worst bartender and makes the place more hostile with her attacking random people. I don’t know why she’s so angry of a person or what in her life is so terrible it makes her lash out at random girls but the owner should really do something about it. None of my friends go there anymore because of this reason and the only reason they ever knew of the place was because I showed them but now they refuse to go because of this pink mohawked bartender. To be honest I like game works downtown way better they have better machines, better old school games and u can still drink and get food for the same price.

Millennials unite!!! West Seattle’s hidden gem. This is the ultimate OG geek bar. All the arcade games we loved when we were younger(except time crises :\) and could never finish because we had limited quarters and mom didn’t love you enough to give you more. And now… It’s all unlimited play for free!!! Game highlights: DDR, Marvel v capcom, crazy taxi, Daytona racing, silent scope, lots of shooting games, a four computer setup with steam &LOL, a game room with a big screen tv with the Super Nintendo, NES, and ps1 attached, 1 an Atari(didn’t actually understand how this worked unfortunately) and way more. Did I a mention alcohol? It is a bar after all and the drinks are well priced and well stocked with liquor and a limited amount of draft beers and cider. I didn’t indulge in the food but they do have a hang out area with tables and chairs to eat complete with board games. I was here on a Friday night and it was just the perfect number of patrons there. Any more and honestly it probably would be unbearably crowded. They probably should reconfigure that bar area for less congestion. Didn’t experience that problem though. One knock for a gross bath rooms. I am picky about that stuff though so you might want to check it out for yourselves. That might be a deal breaker for some.

Somehow people love vidiot. I was there once on open mike night and it was boring, with a handful of loud groupies. Beer was good and it looked like people really enjoyed the video games

This place is great. Booze and video games!!! Yay!!! The only reason I Didn’t give it 5 stars because there is one bartender there with a snotty attitude but other than the one bad apple this place is great! Everyone else is really cool and the games are free play except for the pinball machines. They really have a little bit of everything here!!!

Novel arcade-like bar in a semi-bizarre, windowless space. Vidiot is perfect for what it is though: A fun, low-key hangout for anyone looking to play old school video games for free while preserving their virginity.

This place is great! First impression after walking in was a little iffy, but I’m unsure why. The bar was great, and most games are FREE. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our time here. I would definitely recommend this spot to everyone.

More like 3.5 but Unilocal doesn’t allow it. The new and improved Vidiot is great. Table top games and free arcade game surround you. If you enjoy arcade games then you will be content. Shooting, race car, and vintage style arcades consoles are available FORFREE! Bar seems stocked for mixed drinks. There are craft brews and cider available as well. Priced decently/like rest of WS. The bartenders were nice enough, but the bar ordering set up needs to get revamped… A line forms very fast and can congest the main artery to arcade game aisle. The sandwiches are also pretty decent. The BLT was very enjoyable. I am definitely going to try different ones each time! I recommend this place to those who enjoy drinking, playing, and watching Firefly on their tvs. Saturday and Sunday 12p-4p is family time… so this may be a great place for families to geek out!

My inner(and outer) geek went, «Squee» when I stepped in the door. The only bad thing about this place is that I didn’t discover it before! Games– TONS of arcade games on infinite play. It’s an absolute blast(literally). You have so many options to choose from! Now you can finally finish all those games you started as a kid! They also have some board games and even an area to play classic video games. I want to live here. Bar– Good selection, good pours. The bartender was fast and even made some great suggestions that we all loved. You can also order food, and the tater tots were great. I also loved their BLT. Very tasty and not too pricy! Décor — Geek dive bar, and part of it looks like a pirate ship(which is so aaarrgghhsome). They have tables and booths, so you can get your drink on however you want. This place rocks! Go here and give these people your money.

Vidiot is awesome. We took the kids to the front arcade(all ages) today and had a good time. There’s far less games than the bar but they enjoyed it and had a good time. I walked to the back in the bar and saw they added 4 pc’s with steam and a big screen with console games and thought that was a great adition. I haven’t tried the food but it always looks tasty. The drinks are good and not terribly priced. Overall the place has really developed into a nice spot since moving from next door. Looking forward to going back!

the new location is awesome! They have many more games of all types and ages. There is a semi-truck racing game that is tricky and addicting! There is shooting games where you aim at dinosaurs, sega racing games, star wars racing, boxing, police shooting, snow-mobile racing that vibrates, street fighter, xbox, and many more. Games that take me back to high-school where I would go to the arcade on the weekends. The tap was broken when I got there, but they have a huge beer menu for bottles and cans. IF you are over-whelmed with choices, just tell the bar tender what type of beer you want and they can pick something out for you. T They also have a small food menu and a bowl of treats for a buck each, like bottlecaps candy and moon-pies! The only thing I don’t like is the entrance. It is creepy and uninviting. No real sign and a dark hallway into the bar. If they changed that I will change my rating to 5 stars.

Loving this spot especially since they expanded! There are more ol school games than I knew existed? They have jus about everything from Frogger, crazy Taxi, Galaga, Miss Pack man, to Star Wars Racer! I love games where u can race or compete against your friends or enemies! All for free but the pin ball.(And that’s cuz u can’t bootleg pin ball) they have some dope pinball machines however! I just wish Tron was here. Preferably the original. I would pay for that for sheezy! I’ll add 1 or 2 more stars when they get their kitchen up and runin’!

Were there rose coloured glasses available at the door that I just didn’t see? There was a sign on the street instructing patrons of Vidiot to enter the building through the alley. Walking through a short, dark corridor I saw a handwritten note for where the bathrooms where located but not much else. There were broken video games to the left and a mostly empty walkway to the right. A bunch of broken games right by the door really makes a great first impression! Nonetheless I continued onwards to the bar where my ID was checked and I was given a handwritten beer list for what they had in the fridge. No taps, just cans and bottles. They have a number of video games and various board games that you can play for free and there are also a few pinball machines that are pay-to-play. There are a lot of arcade games to choose from. Broken games, shooting games, broken games, racing games, broken games, MAME, and broken. Did I mention that they have a lot of broken games hanging around? Not only is it a waste of space it looks terrible. I don’t understand why this place is so highly rated.

On a smokey Saturday night, while looking to escape the stress of work and wild fires burning up half the state, I set my sights on Vidiot at a local recommendation. Eager to find a new video game hang out on the other side of town, I walked there from Alki Beach after dinner. The walk was a tad more work than I expected, but I was not to be dissuaded from video games and beer. Passing through the local bush of West Seattle, I saw houses ranging from dilapidated to fully renovated mixed in with the eclectic local flare I’ve come to expect from various Seattle neighborhoods. I especially enjoyed the large metal rooster on the corner of someone’s property. The discovery of an incoming multi unit complex beginning construction was another sign that the neighborhood was in the middle of a transformation. Gone are the wild days of West Seattle natives. We are now watching the loss of the native West Seattle habitat. As the building housing Vidiot came into view, I was guided around the back alley area where several people were out on the street participating in the normal watering hole gathering activities. As I peered into the building, I looked down one hallway that had signs for the bathroom and not to go further. Behind that was the shadow of broken video consoles. The other end had more broken consoles, and as I rounded the corner, I finally discovered the main area. After walking past the bar and looking confused, two bartenders turned to greet strangers. After checking IDs and taking orders, I was given a can of beer from a small fridge. Going to a bar in the middle of West Seattle, I would have expected a tap list, but I took my beer like the weary soldier visiting Al Udeid when taking some time off from Iraq. Turning to gaze at the territory, I found a few games that caught my eye. The Simpsons is always at the top of my list, so I mentally bookmarked that for later. After going through the area, I was able to discern there was a pretty small pool of game types, which could be summarized into the categories shooter, driving and nearly broken. As I rounded the games, through the dim lights and talking guests, I smelled first then spotted the rare hipster pot dealer. In shock, I found myself wondering how in the modern age with recreational and medical shops all around the wild, hipster pot dealer could survive. The territory loss alone had put them on their heels for years now, and other than the iconic city dwelling dealers, they have all but disappeared. Here I was privileged to see an actual, factual dealer in the wild, slinging bags for guests on request. It made me feel kind of bad for him, knowing that he used to run wild delivering cannabis and happiness to those looking for his services. Now, he was here trying to compete with the changing markets and loss of territory. Watching him sell dime bags was by far the most entertaining part of the evening, as playing The Simpsons with unlimited credits turned out to be disappointing, since I die pretty quick between credits. Driving and shooting games have only limited appeal for me, so after taking a couple tries, I finished my beverage and left. Charging a cover fee or charging for games and investing that money in some taps and game repairs would keep some business around instead of watching it go out the door. I feel like I missed Vidiot’s heyday.

Absolutely love this place! Dive bar + free unlimited coinop and MAME cabinets. Normally MAME stuff is never worth paying for, but free on big screens with good arcade sticks is a win. Gotta check it out on a weekend.

Where has this place been hiding? Vidiot makes for a fun night – good drinks, free games(except pinball, I think, which runs a few quarters), and a very social atmosphere. Allows you to re-live the 90s(or the 80s, if so inclined to play PacMan) with all of your favorite games in easy reach. Upstairs area has a boardgame area with booths. Great service behind the bar – friendly, fast, and very relaxed. Food menu is short, so a eat-first-go-here-for-the-drinks approach works best. Parking is tight, so you can take your chances by parking in the customer-only Safeway lot or the Wells Fargo spots around the corner. Will def return.

Fairly priced drinks and HUNDREDS of FREE arcade games. Also lots of TVs up but they were all playing cartoons(which is a plus for me). Most are older games, so do not expect the newest or trendiest games here. I got to play through Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker which is hilarious after a few drinks. My fiancé and I also got«The Club» sandwich which was huge and super delicious. It can feel kind of cramped after a few people show up, so if you plan to marathon some gaming, you might want to show up a little early. Staff was incredibly friendly and even showed us how to play some obscure games when it wasn’t too busy.

Pretty much the sweetest spot in West Seattle. Good brews plus a full bar for your drinking needs, some great machines including a few that have emulators with a HUGE selection of games available, and all-in-all one of the gems of the neighborhood. You’re doing yourself a disservice if you skip past this past if you’re in West Seattle. Stop in, you’ll enjoy yourself for a number of hours.
