Excellent cold brew and they had it long before Starbucks. I really like their drip coffee, for me it’s the best in the village but I also like Stumptown at Finns bakery. Friendly and knowledge staff. There seems to be more options for coffee lovers here than at the more ubiquitous place across the street.

Fantastic local coffee shop in the Magnolia community. The staff who work here are friendly, personable and you can tell really care about their customers and the drinks they make. Prices are cheaper then Starbucks with the recent price hike and the coffee roast tastes better. Recommend this great coffee shop.

Typical coffee shop. Pretty nice people who work there. I sometimes pop in to do some studying, usually pretty quiet atmosphere. I only get the dark chocolate Generra. It’s a delicious chocolate orange mocha.

I had such a pleasant experience getting coffee today. The barista was great! She was very sweet and talkative. I believe her name was Chelsea. It was nice to actually have a conversation instead of waiting for my caffeine in awkward silence. My iced Almond milk latte was delicious. So refreshing to not have to deal with the typical snobby Seattle barista. I will definitely be back and refer people your way!

A ‘barista’ should know what a 20 oz drink is. Took 3 tries, settled on a 12 oz. I expect to get a mocha when I order one. Not a hot chocolate with drip coffee mixed in. Seriously? Please get a barista! Or, at least someone who cares! Of course, I won’t be back. There are too many choices.

This place is great. The baristas are super cool(Shelby is awesome), and the coffee is terrific. Im in Uptown Espresso almost every morning, and they have always been consist with my drink order. If you like burnt coffee, there is a Starbucks across the street, that will be happy to give you a mediocre product for top dollar. As a truly locally owned business, its one of the best coffee joints in Seattle. I have been to several of Uptowns other locations, and they are all well run, with great staff, consistent product, and comfortable atmosphere. They also have free wireless.

I’ve visited all Uptown Espresso locations, except for the one in the Delridge neighborhood thus far. Despite a Starbucks diagonal across the intersection, I usually end a visit to Nikos(my favorite Greek eats) with a mocha from this Uptown Espresso in the Magnolia neighborhood. Why? It’s an indie café! The baristas are really friendly — always asks about how your day’s going and come across as sincere about it. The mochas are made consistently with the signature velvet foam. Big windows with great natural light and lots of seating. It’s very spacious. Maybe they can add a couch or two with coffee tables to break up cavernous feel. It was oddly without background music on this visit, but perfect to chill out and read on this particular rainy day.

I’d take this any day over Starbucks! The staff is wonderful, they’ve memorized my order as well! I’ve tried multiple different drinks — all of which were delicious. The pastries, I have to say are only pretty good and I would like to see a bigger variety. Overall, this is one of my favorite coffee shops and I look forward to going back.

There aren’t too many requirements when it comes to a good local coffee/espresso café: considerate staff, a good product, amble seating, comfortable/pleasant environment, and non-intrusive, obnoxious music. I want to support my locally owned coffee joints as much as possible but this place acts like they’re trying to drive away customers. The first problem is the TERRIBLEMUSIC. The aloof, weird barista was BLARING some of the worst music I’ve ever heard. I’m talking squealing Swedish bubblegum pop, a gothic HEAVYMETALOPERABAND, some crossover metal/country band — virtually a playlist of the most obnoxious music ever. It got to the point of completely socially unacceptable to be playing such shitty, loud, obnoxious grating music. The place has a weird environment — dark green velvet carpet and old wooden dining tables. This doesn’t bother me as much as the awful, intrusive music. A couple people made half-joking comments about the blaring heavy metal opera music, and the barista clearly didn’t understand the point.

Venture out of your Starbuck’s comfort zone and try this place. I ordered a breve with 3 raw sugars. So good! And that foam… yum!

Uptown is my favorite place to get a latte in Seattle, and this location did not disappoint. With the best-tasting coffee of any chain outlet, you simply cannot go wrong with one of these places. Enjoy!

First… great coffee. Love that the owners of Uptown posted up across the street from«the Death Star» in the old neighborhood. Great bakery items delivered fresh from the lower Queen Anne store(not from the freezer, & most likely prepared weeks ago in CA). Lastly, I like the crew making it all happen everyday. Thanks baristas. Give them some slack on the procurement. If you want holiday cd’s and knick knacks, Starbucks is right over there…

This place is just ok. It’s probably better than a drive-through coffee shop and a gas station coffee dispenser. Frankly, it’s better than Starbucks too. I’m a chai guy. I go here because my girlfriend is loyal to it.

This is a great place to study. Despite the noise from admittedly often fascinating conversations going on around me, the ambiance and friendliness of the staff keep me coming back. Their music selection is pretty great too, not to mention the coffee and tea. They are very happy to make custom orders! Highly recommended on a Saturday morning to meet up with friends or just to study.

Meh. It’s ok. Food/service/coffee… all ok. Like a 2.5 star ok. I give it a ¾ star increase for the space to work and easy parking. That’s really what I go there for.

I love it! Great baristas, superior coffee and the green carpet is amazing. Nice atmosphere, excellent service, great place to meet someone in «the village». No lines either.

I’ve always had a good experience with the staff, and I love the big tables that I can work at, but I’m constantly upset about the coffee. While it tastes good, I pay a lot of money for COFFEE! not foam. The first time that I got almost a full cup of foam on top of my coffee to go, I figured it was just a fluke, but seeing that this is my last week of college and all I’m doing is a million things(especially studying) this is not what I wanted to see when I got home. Fix the ratios and understand that you can be known for your foam with just a tablespoon or 2, not an entire cup

Uptown Espresso’s are hit and miss for me– sometimes the barista really knows their stuff, and sometimes it’s overly extracted, acidic burning coffee ick. The Magnolia location is always a win– the SBUX across the street is staffed by some of the slowest, most incompetent partners I’ve run into(and as a partner, it pains me to say that and not give them the benefit of the doubt). The pastries at this particular Uptown are also better than the ones I’ve seen at other locations, and the people have always been sweet and friendly.

I’ve only been to this location once, but my experience was actually pretty good… and I’m pretty sure this was the first time I was able to get a lot of work done at one of their locations! I purchased a mocha and a slice of some sort of bread because I was hungry. The bread was fine, but I kind of hope they update their selection in the future. They had way too much bread-y food and not enough anything else. I would have been really happy with some fruit and/or a small veggie snack box. My main goal was to get out of the rain and charge my laptop while I worked, however, and I am happy that this Uptown Coffee location had a warm space for me to sit and work. Oh, and the wifi worked the whole time! Bonus points for that ;)

I love the velvet foam and baked goods. The tatted dude behind the counter was complaing about how little he was getting tipped the day I was in. Really dude?
