Thoroughbred Collision Centers

Thoroughbred was amazingly helpful when I needed my car repaired, windshield replaced & detailed after an accident early 2013… and I had to be out of the country for work (China). They went to bat for me with my insurer, and arranged it all while I was away.
I would give them 4.5 stars if I could, my only issue was that they had my email but did not use it. Though I had let them know I would not be answering calls that was how they tried to contact me. All ended well and the work was flawless.

I had another car repaired a couple years ago and the car was returned to me in great condition. This time, the actual repair was excellent. However, my car had not been washed. The driver’s side floor mat was filthy as was the side wall of the feet compartment. On top of that, the car had been parked underneath a tree that dripped pitch all over the car which took several washings to remove. So I would have to say that the repair work was great, but the guys need to pay attention to the overall condition of the car when it is returned.

I called to get an appointment for an estimate but had to wait for a whole week and so I called Auto Buff who gave me an appointment right away. I went to Thoroughbred first by mistake where the receptionist lady was very rude and didn’t care. No Thank You! I don’t want to go to any place where I am not welcomed.

Do not go here if you are looking to have your car repaired in a timely manner!
After having my car damaged in a hit and run accident right before an extended vacation I was obviously frustrated. My insurance company suggested I go to Thoroughbred Collision for an estimate since it was close to my work. I called about an estimate the day of my accident and was not only told I could not drop-​in but I would have to wait 4 DAYS before someone could see my car for just an estimate! Although that seemed an incredibly long time to wait I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and scheduled an appointment for an estimate anyway.
Once I finally went in for the estimate there was no explanation about what they were going to have to do to fix my car. Basically just a couple of snapshots and a timeline of how long it would take to complete the repairs. Then on top of all that I was told that I would have to wait for them to call me back about setting up a date to bring my car back in to do the repairs. At the time they were booked up for over a week and could not keep my car at their location because of space issues. Alright fine. Since I was on a pretty tight time constraint before leaving on vacation I asked about setting up an appointment in advance so I could coordinate someone to drop off/​pick up my car. I was again told they will call me when they’re ready to set up a time. A day and a half later still no word from anyone there, so I called them and was told they would have to call me back later when they weren’t busy. Ummm…
After this I called my insurance company and made sure they knew about my horrible experience from here. I ended up going to another collision repair shop that not only does drop-​in estimates, but was also able to take my car same day as the estimate and keep my car through the duration of my vacation with no problem! This is how it should’ve been all along!
Do yourself a favor and don’t go here if you can avoid it.

After being involved in a neighborhood fender bender, the disfavored driver’s (geez I love that word) insurance company accepted liability and sent me a list of body shops within my zip code. This place is right below West Seattle Bowl and very handy to get to. I brought the car in for an estimate and they did all the arranging with State Farm and Enterprise Rental Car. I was able to get the car in on a Tuesday morning and pick it up Thursday afternoon. SInce I couldn’t get away from work on Thursday, I was able to get it Friday morning on the way in to work. Couldn’t really see the jobsmanship in the early morning but when I did get a chance to see it, you’d never know it had been hit. I loved that they detail your car, inside and out. They found things under the seats I never knew were missing. The wheels never looked so clean. I guess I’d give them the whole 5 stars if I didn’t have to ride over to Enterprise to get the rental; but then again, maybe that’s Enterprise’s problem. If you live in West Seattle, this is the place to bring your car to — whether it’s your fault, or the other driver’s.

These guys are awesome. I took my 03 Saab in for some fender bender work. They were recommended by a friend and the insured’s company that was handling the claim. They coordinated everything right down to the rental car picking me up when I dropped my car off. They said three days and I dropped it off Tuesday after work and picked it up Friday after work. My car looks great! The repair work was awesome. I also hadn’t had time to clean it before dropping it off and it was clean inside too! I will recommend them to my friends! Wonderful customer service as well. They made it so simple.

They replaced the side-​view mirror on my truck in a few hours for a very reasonable price. Looks like new. Nice people who do a great job. If I ever need more body work done I’m definitely going back.

So, i have used these guys three times. The first time was to repair some bumper damage. They took a little longer than I figured it would take, but the work was good. The second time, they never could seem to get their act together. We came to them with some descent work and it took them over three weeks to call us to schedule to bring it in. I realize they may have been busy, but a phone call would have been courteous. This last time was the last draw. We dropped off our SUV and we got a phone call after three days that they had ordered the wrong part and the right part was a week and a half out. I used to work in a repair shop. Who waits three weeks to schedule work on a customers vehicle and doesn’t have the right parts on hand already? Apparently these guys. So a three day job took two weeks. Meanwhile, my wife had left a cup of coffee in the console that these guys let rot out and spoil all over our center console. When we called them on it, their answer was simply, «we don’t throw people’s stuff away.» At which I pointed to all the trash that was in the side door that they had cleaned out for us. Bullshit. We aren’t going back. They don’t care about their customers cars. And that isn’t good enough for me.

My SUV was recently rear-​ended and Thoroughbred was as option the insurance company offered for the repair. Since they were in my neighborhood, I decided to take it by there for an estimate. They set up a return appointment and scheduled a rental car for me while the car was in the shop. I was in and out of dropping off the car and back to work within 45 min. The car was done when they promised and the bumper looked like new. An added bonus was my car was spotless (washed and detailed) when it came back. Excellent customer experience!

After having an electrician examine the issue with the old fog lights that this place said had a bad ballast, and we tested a complete new pair i ordered and the old pair on the socket that still worked. All parts work great on there own… we found that Thoroughbred Collision Centers had initially ripped out the entire wiring harness because they did not disconnect the wiring before they removed the bumper that they were repairing (because they’re a bunch of unlicensed profesionals, aka morons) we found masking tape, fixing there issues, fucking masking tape, at least use electric tape you idiots. So once they taped my wires back together, they created a short circuit so not enough power can be sent to the passenger fog light to power them both, and it shorts the fuse. We tested all the fog lights on the one side that works, they all work GREAT, even the one they claimed went bad. Everything worked before, and would still work if it wasn’t for the shitty’s repair job ever performed! I would sue this place if i could for auto malpractice.
You want to know what they said, «we are not electricians, sorry».
Masking Tape, really guys? Thats what you going to jerry-​rig your own fuck up with? Your not going to at least try and cover it up?
And I still dont have a working fog light because of this bumper repair, it would require rewiriing both headlights and the foglights.

Getting into a fender bender (with a parked car no-​less) is stressful enough– so picking out the right auto body shop shouldn’t be an additional burden. Go to Thoroughbred– Jimmy and the crew will treat you right.
Our insurance only covered part of the bumper– which would have looked odd, considering a portion of it would be newly painted. The guys just did the whole bumper instead and made our beloved Honda Pilot look better than when we purchased it used 2 years ago. The turnaround time was quicker to than what they quoted, which was a huge help, considering the Pilot is our only vehicle which can seat all 6 in our family.
Also, they washed, waxed and detailed the inside– which just made that Pilot pop, when I went to go pick it up. That kind of care for our car made us a customer for life. Thanks again Thoroughbred for bringing our Pilot back from the dead… now watch out parked cars of West Seattle– I’m coming through!

Good service, nice body work. My car looked better than before the accident when I picked it up.
The front desk staff seemed a little out of touch and confused in the beginning but I would still recommend this shop for collision repair.

I can’t believe I’m writing a positive review of a body shop, but they did a great job on my fender bender. Body shops can be real hell holes some times. They did my job on time, used OEM parts, did a great color match and detailed my car too. Manager running the place was a nice guy too.

I brought in my car to get a fender flare repaired. Since the person who hit my car fessed up to it, their insurance paid for everything. I took it in, they took photos and came up with a very detailed estimate very quickly. I might have been concerned if I were paying for it myself but since I wasn’t I just observed passively. I came in a week later to drop off the car since they seemed to be quite busy. They coordinated with a car rental company to come pick me up. Their interactions with me were courteous and professional. When my car was about ready to be picked up, they called to ask if I had the code to my radio (they had needed to disconnect the battery.) I didn’t and I thought they would leave me hanging with an inoperative radio but they went to the trouble of calling a dealership to get the code. Fantastic! When I came to pick up my car, it was perfect. I don’t know anything about auto body repair but this looked to be a complex operation with the complex lines and curves at the fender flare. It looked like nothing had ever happened to it. They even washed the entire car and vacuumed the interior. Aside from the hassle of needing to take the car in, doing paperwork and making phone calls, it was a fairly painless process. If I ever needed to, I would go back to them without hesitation.

You know what sucks? Getting in a car accident. You know what sucks even more? Getting hit when it isn’t your fault, yet you’re the one who has to go through all the work and inconvenience of having your car repaired. Thoroughbred Collision Center did a great job of making that process as painless as possible.
My car had the passenger-​side mirror knocked off and a front panel deeply scratched, and the person who did it wanted to avoid going through insurance. So I called around to some places, and found that Thoroughbred had comparable rates (they quoted $ 880 for the repairs). They are open M-​F 7:30 to 5:00, and currently there’s about a one-​week wait to bring your car in.
Both in person and on the phone, they were always friendly and helpful. The initial quote took only about 10 minutes to do, and they said they would need my car for 3 full days. I dropped it off first thing on Monday, and it was ready by close of business on Tuesday!
The only slightly weird thing was that in cases like mine, where someone besides the car owner is paying for repairs, they insist that the payor comes in AFTER the car is dropped off, to avoid having unused funds on their books. They wouldn’t even take credit card info in advance (also, if the payor is not the car owner, they have to go there in person to authorize the payment). This gave me a mini-​ulcer when I had to drop my car off for repairs and just hope that the other person would pay in time. She did, and it worked out fine, but because of their payment policy, I would recommend just having the other person pay you cash directly and then paying for your own repairs once cash is in hand.
If you’re in West Seattle, this is an easy spot to get to, just a couple of blocks from the Junction and very close to a ⁵⁴⁄₅₅ stop. I wish they had later evening hours for people who work 9 – 5 jobs, but overall they did an excellent job and I’m very satisfied with the result.
