A great neighborhood place. Love the food. Atmosphere is a bit noisy when busy, but still a great place.

Went to the Maple Bar after a friend recommended the place. That was a good call. Loved the atmosphere, drinks, food and service. Will be back the next time I’m in Seattle. Cheers!

Little pricey But worth it with the good food. Had the biscuits and gravy, breakfast burrito, and broiled grapefruit. All was delicious ! Would definitely go again on a sunny day ! Sat out side server was friendly five star! Drea was her name — props to Drea for getting me a hot chocolate on a hot summer day

This place had the potential to to be good. Unfortunately, the bad service is more than a fluke. We’ve given this place 3 strikes and they got progressively worse each time. Our server seemed like she had no idea what time zone she was in. We had to check on food twice(once after checking, we found out they were out of the pork sliders and had to re-order a new dish)… the«special» fish and chips showed up with no tarter. They were out– she informed us. Apparently, tossing some pickles, mayo, lemon and dill in a cup was far beyond their ability on that day, especially for a special item. I mean, everyone in seattle loves dipping fish and chips in ketchup better than tarter right? We were asked for refills on beers after 30min empty. It took another 15min for them to show up. After two hours, we paid our check and left. Seriously bummed I invited out of town friends to go here with us.

I would not recommend this place. We went there after getting a gift certificate from a friend. 4 separate items we ordered they were out of. The burger I ended up with only filled half the bun. The food was not very good, their specialty drink were not very special. The staff was friendly but forgetful and at the end of the day, they refused our gift certificate because it was pretty old. Not sure, but I think that is illegal. I would Snappy dragon next door.

There’s so much to love about this place, and I wish I could give it more than three stars. It’s my neighborhood bar – I live half a block away and come here often, so this review is based on many visits over the past year. The pros: — Great cocktails(moscow mule is a classic, plus their seasonal drinks are always delicious) — Decent happy hour deals — Cozy atmosphere — Food is pretty good — Outdoor seating is pleasant(especially the back gravel patio – lovely on a hot day) The one major con is the service. The staff is polite but not friendly. They tend to be slow and inattentive, and can often be seen hanging out together at the bar without checking on customers. Once, I waited for almost an hour after finishing my meal before the server came by. Luckily my friend and I weren’t in a rush, but I probably would have ordered another drink if someone had come to check on us. Half of the time I have to ask for my check at the bar because I need to leave. They’ve forgotten my drink on multiple occasions, brought the wrong food out, and acted like they were doing my table a huge favor by bringing ketchup and silverware. I believe in giving the benefit of the doubt, and I’m always kind to servers. But this is such a consistent issue with all of the staff at The Maple Bar that I’m convinced that the issue is poor management and training, and it needs to be addressed. Maple Bar, I love your location and your drinks, but your staff’s inattentiveness makes me question whether it’s worth spending time and money in your business. P. S. Please bring back pups and tots!

I came here for brunch and was wholly disappointed by the experience! Here’s my visit in a nutshell: — ordered coffee and it was never refilled — had to ask for utensils and napkins — ordered the breakfast burrito and it was served to me without eggs. I sent it back so it would have all the ingredients that listed on the menu. When it came back, not only was it cold, but it was missing the bacon. I mean, come on! For a $ 13 breakfast burrito, it should have been made correctly the first time but certainly the second — my husband’s eggs, scrambled, were way overdone. They were served where tops were brown. –the fruit that was served instead of bacon for him was sliced oranges and grapefruit. For a $ 9 plate of eggs and fruit, you’d think they would have served berries. –when I spoke with the waitress about the mistakes on the burrito, she apologized and was prompt to return with a new plate but I would’ve expected some sort of discount taken off the bill. None appeared when we checked out. All in all, don’t waste your time or money here when there are plenty of other better brunch spots.

Afraid to say this place was not very good for brunch. I ordered a coffee and when the server brought it to me, it looked so pale I initially thought it was tea. Basically it was coffee flavored water. Ordered an eggs Benedict and it came smothered in not great hollandaise and the eggs were so overcooked they were practically hard boiled. My friend’s eggs Benedict suffered the same fate. The upside was the bottomless bloody Mary’s. My husband really enjoyed them. Also they served their eggs Benedict ona biscuit which was different ans nice. The service was also decent and the wait staff were pleasant enough considering how annoying it must be to deal with a party our size. Sorry guys! Not planning on a return trip.

Ever since I’ve moved to Seattle maple leaf area, this has been my spot for drinks and dinner. The food is very good and has just enough of a spin to be considered unique. They use fresh ingredients(that you can taste) and have a large variety to choose from. The drinks are all very well made as well. I’m always happy to see Chad at the bar when I walk in, and will usually opt for a bar seat. From the originals to new inventions, he makes the best drinks! The only problem I have is with the service(other than Chad) they can be slow, sometimes have attitudes, and basically do the bare minimum required of servers. Not enough to make me stop going there though! The atmosphere is very relaxed, dim, and great music choice. I’m so glad I live close!

I used to come here all the time when it was the Maple Leaf Bar & Grill. Overall, I’d say the place has taken a turn for the worse. If you’re into cocktails, the cocktail menu has expanded. That’s easy. If that’s what you’re looking for, there isn’t anywhere in the neighborhood that can compare. The food menu has gotten less interesting. I had«wings». They came in «buffalo, thai chili, or bbq». In other words, bar food. Plain and simple. If you’re walking distance, great. But don’t drive for it.(Man I miss the Southwest carrot soup the old owner used to serve.) However, the two star review is for their dishonest practices. Nothing gets me on Unilocal faster than feeling lied to. I looked at the wine list, and realized that most of the wines were out of my price range, but they had one reasonably priced red. So I ordered the«house red», expecting that for certain, that’s what I’d get. The cheap one. When they asked if I wanted another, I gave a thumbs up. Sure, at this price! Imagine my surprise when the bill came and one of the more expensive wines was the«house red». I even looked up the dictionary definition of «house wine» to make sure I wasn’t mistaken. Yes. House Wine means the LEASTEXPENSIVEWINEONTHEMENU. Not only was that not what I was given and charged for, the wait staff never even confirmed which wine they were serving me. So, overall: average food, friendly but dishonest staff. That was my experience.

Reviewed: 2015/March(restored from lost profile) «We went for early dinner(not busy) and sat in the window. Semi-romantic. Service and food was great. This is a smaller establishment, with a full bar and TV. The price was reasonable. We will definitely come back to try the brunch and their unlimited mimosas.

Don’t know why I keep giving this place a chance. It’s convenient(down the street and very walkable) but I end up walking away feeling discontent. Tonight we both had a hankering for a Reuben. The menu description looked perfect: «our very own pastrami and sauerkraut, Russian dressing, with Swiss cheese on rye.» Our first clue should have been the spelling on the menu… Rueben. Bread, some nondescript type but certainly not traditional rye, was cold and untoasted. There was no dressing and we had to ask for some; we got a sauce called«French» that was more like a creamy Italian. There was zero sauerkraut.(There were some chopped onions, sparse.) The pastrami was dry and tasteless. The cheese was also nondescript but it didn’t taste like Swiss. The fries, which as usually SO good here, were awful and nearly inedible. Dry, hard and overcooked. We had to ask for ketchup. Very disappointing. Our server was okay, not amazing. It took over 40 minutes to get our food and we asked twice how much longer it would be and were told it was coming. Meh. I’ve experienced way better.

Nice layout. Tuesday nite diners @ 6:00 pm. Only about 3 couples dining. Waitstaff was fairly prompt. My entrée was to be a Grilled Brie bacon & tomato sandwich with a bowl of Tomato Basil soup. Sandwich was tasty. Soup was not the one ordered. Returned for the correct one. While tasty, it was not hot. Same with the original soup that came. My husband ordered the Pulled Pork sandwich. It was also very tasty… but not hot. A bit of a disappointment. Ambiance was nice. We did have to use the light from our cell phones to read the menu. A bit dark, but cozy. Just getting old I guess. Overall, if the food had been better I could have given it a 3.5.

So wanted to love this place due to a rave review from a friend. Service though friendly was poor Out of so many things on the menu — on a Friday night– during main dinner hour!!! Did not really course the meal And when the food did arrive it was lukewarm. The flavors seem good but cold tater tots are sad. And to top it off it was a pricey for a neighborhood joint. Won’t be visiting this joint again. Bummer

The atmosphere was a knockout. The food and service left much to be desired. Arrived last evening and wasn’t sure whether to wait or seat ourselves. After looking awkward for a minute, the bartender offered up that it was seat yourself. The waitress whisked by adding that she’d grab us some water. Good so far. We ordered our beers, which she returned with in short order, then told us she’d give us a few minutes to look at the menu. Ten minutes went by — a long time in restaurant land — before we had to intercept her on her way to get drinks for another table. Food turn around was in good time, but relatively bland with the exception of the caesar which was good, but lacked anchovies — which is what makes a caesar a caesar. Fish and chips was bleh, grilled brie was bleh. Granted I did ask them to hold the bacon on the brie but good brie should have some bite to it, and stand on its own — this did not. The waitress checked with us once to make sure we had what we needed and then disappeared for a good long while. She finally showed up with the bill, when what we really wanted was dessert. So either she wasn’t particularly found of the desserts that Maple Bat served, or she wanted us gone, or she plain forgot. When she brought back the credit card slip to be signed, I asked her, «SO — you guys don’t have desserts?» She proceeded to glow about their desserts. You figure it out. Note: one other couple sat in the restaurant, ignored, for at least five minutes before they got up and left. To summarize: GREAT atmosphere, poor service, hit and miss food. I might come back for a drink as my husband’s craft Manhattan was very, very good. My IPA was stellar as well. Or we might go visit the grill just down Roosevelt from Maple Bar.

Brunch is fabulous! I was able to try the salmon benedict and blueberry French toast. The blueberry sauce for the French toast is so wonderful. The perfect combination of tart and sweet. The benedict was good but I felt it would have a better salt balance with a biscuit vs the pain muffin it came on. Portions are great and filling. The biscuit and gravy, although simple, gives enough to fill all. Unfortunately, because of our plans we didn’t try any of the alcoholic beverages. Give this place a try. So glad we did. Street parking available.

I’ve been to the Maple Bar twice; once for cocktails, once for brunch. The first experience was notably more positive than the second. Delicious seasonal cocktails for reasonable craft prices, friendly service(though it was a little slow), and pleasant vibe. The old folk attitude in all of us appreciated that they played music at a comfortable level, so we didn’t have to scream at each other. The second time we went on a busy morning for brunch, during a time when this place seemed perhaps short-staffed… but hey, it happens. We did our best to be patient, though we waited over an hour for our food to arrive. Most of us ordered some version of eggs benedict, and each egg was essentially hard-boiled and chalky. We didn’t have the heart to send it back, given we’d waited an hour for it to arrive and we were starving. One of the orders was simply not cooked according to the menu description. I overheard the server state that they recently went through some menu changes, and the kitchen was trying their best to accommodate that. Though frustrating for us, I myself have worked in restaurants, and I completely understand that sometimes a table just gets a little bad luck. We tried our best to be understanding, but I think the real insult came when we realized that a table next to us was seated, served, and left — all AFTER we had placed our food orders! Not to mention, many of those orders were identical to ours, so it left us wondering why they were served first and not us? In any rate, members of our group complained, and I’m sure for a period of time, made our server question his job and wonder if it’s all really worth it. He was overall a good sport, understood the frustration, and made it a point to appropriately discount our meal as a gesture of goodwill. We plan to return once the staff have had a little time to forget our faces, and hope that the third time is a charm. I think this place has a lot to offer, and I would encourage others to give it a try!

Just came from a disappointing breakfast/brunch. My son and I had some of the worst potatoes ever and I ordered 2 eggs over easy that came out broken, and while the waiter offered replacements, they had problems with the egg pan, they came out so late we were leaving. Granted they gave me an employee discount on the steak and eggs I ordered but it is appalling that a restaurant serving breakfast foods can’t do eggs right. I’ve been a big fan of their lunch and dinners but really have to admit I may never return just based on today’s miserable output from their kitchen.

I tried Maple Bar for the second time last night and now I’m convinced that they have a great thing going on with cocktails. I asked Sarah at the bar to make anything with coffee and amaretto and she came back with an absolutely delicious martini. The first time I was in the bartender helped with some suggestions for a corporate party and essentially created what is now a signature cocktail. I’d previously heard raves about the pups and tots but opted for a spicy lentil soup, which was surprisingly good. Extra thumbs up for great music — Washed Out, Phantogram, and Neon Indian made the evening so much more enjoyable. Understanding that this is an old and probably very drafty house, I will say that both times I’ve been in it has been a little cold in there and has forced me out a little sooner than I might normally want to go. Bailey, our waitress, let me know that kids eat free on Mondays, so I think we’ll have to stop by with kids in tow one of these evenings… although the atmosphere lends itself more to date nights, with the dim lighting. Maybe I’ll just take my husband :)

This is our neighborhood bar and we love it. The vibe is absolutely communal, small and cozy, but there is ample seating inside and out(a nice deck with umbrellas!). The drinks range from a variety of creative cocktails, great local draft beers and solid wine(including my favorite: Vessel). I’ve perused the dinner and brunch menu with good results. Brunch consists of great homemade signature dishes like biscuits and gravy, and eggs benedict. It could use a little more variety and polishing(including having a homemade vegetarian burger patty rather than a frozen one) but hey, this place is still fairly new.

I seldom get a craving for something, but the Maple Bar’s pups and tots seem to call to me about once a week! We’re more likely to hit happy hour than late at night, and I’m always surprised at what a kid friendly place this is… For a bar there are a lot of young families grabbing a bite to eat. Thumbs up for the super fresh lemonade made on request, The hummus plate was a disappointment — bland hummus and cucumbers which could have been fresher. We enjoy this neighborhood spot!

I really like this place but have some issues… 1) get a waitress or server that isn’t flakey. The previous girl was much more attentive and on the ball even when it was busy. Get her back from her travels, please! The current girl brought us food menus, took our drinks, got one of them wrong– them seemed to punish us for our by not taking our food order. WTF. Had to leave and go to Judy Foo’s. 2) every time we’ve gone– someone(assuming an owner) sits at the bar with paperwork looking at all the people who aren’t being helped when it’s busy seeming to be half working on some financials admiring their bar. How about not being tacky and concentrate on making your bar a four or five star? 3) well… there really isn’t a three. I think the food(when able to order) is pretty great. I’ve been for both breakfast and happy hour. They’ve definitely got someone good in the kitchen. And, the bartender makes some really great drinks. Get the customer service under control and you’d be lookin great. I really want to call this a go to place

Their deck is small but sunny, with a nice view of the neighborhood. We’ve been here for both dinner and brunch. Each time the food was good and so was the service. They have a great beer selection. I have never sat inside, but the bar area looks super cozy for hanging out and chatting. They offer bottomless bloody Marys and mimosas during their brunch time — we came right at the tail end of brunch so did not partake. I did have the grilled cheese with tomato soup, which was scrumptious. 3 different types of cheese and grilled up nice and crisp — heaven! My guy had the Chicago beef dip which got a big thumbs up! This is a great neighborhood spot with good food — nothing outside the ordinary but good quality ingredients and well prepared.

Nice little hidden neighborhood treasure. Didn’t realize this place was even there but found it on Unilocal. It’s very warm and cozy and has a small selection for brunch and no pancakes. I do however especially like their sweet potatoes that come with most of the brunch dishes. Service is pretty good but they need more servers on the weekend. Two people is not enough for that space. The people are very friendly and accommodating. I usually have the salmon Benedict. It’s very fresh and tasty. Can’t go wrong with this choice. The regular French toast is average. Still need to try the challah one.

Had brunch here, found spot to be really solid. The staff is super welcoming, and the location is pretty cool — converted old home into a restaurant. While the menu is short and sweet, everything that my G/F and I have tried has been excellent and there’s something for every palette. And last but not least… the bottomless bloody mary with bacon vodka. Ask for it extra spicy, you will not be disappointed!

I’m not sure where all the grumpy reviews come from, since I’ve had nearly flawless food and drink, and when something turned up not so good, they replaced it when asked. Seriously, people, if you have a problem with your order, let restaurants know. No need to be Seattle-passive-aggressive about it. They have a small staff in a casual, small business. Put on your big boy pants and flag someone down if you need to. Whet I love about The Maple Bar is that everything, from the in-house hand it sweet potato fries, to the homemade veggie burger, to the cocktails made with housemade syrups, is real food. Does this make it a tad different each time? Yes, but it’s good. Items to try: –The generously portioned meat and cheese plate. –Sweet potato fries, a mix of textures with hand cut real potatoes and very little oil, considering they’re fried. Texture & taste is between baked and fried. Garlic aoli on the side is tasty. –Veggie burger. I forget what the party is made with, but it’s moist, hearty, and well-dressed. –The«antiques» cocktail, which is slightly sweet, slightly hot. –Maple Bar Manhattan, complex, not too boozy, and those house-preserved cherries are a nice treat.
