The Little London Plane

So far — nice greeting at the door. Quick to greet and to seat. Coffee showed up fast but tastes mediocre. had to flag them down to take our order after waiting too long. Bathroom had empty toilet paper and empty paper towel holder. Come on. You have to get bathrooms right. Let’s see if the food makes up for it.
The environment is pleasant. Definitely this is you if you are of the hipster persuasion.
Food was unremarkable. The black beans, poached eggs, pork shoulder had lukewarm black beans which was off putting. The flavor a were plain — reminiscent of be name of the restaurant.
Had to ask for a coffee refill yet they are not so busy that they couldn’t have figured this out. Can’t recommend this place. It’s merely ok but there are much better places to go.

The space itself is wonderful. Near Pioneer square the restaurant has the ambiance of a restaurant in Faneuil Hall in Boston. Really it looks like something out of a Martha Stewart Living magazine. But the food is pretty underwhelming. Honestly, paying 10 dollars for some crusty bread with almond butter and honey is a bit absurd, or 15 for the same bread with curry seasoned avocado on it with some micro greens. Menu is also pretty limited to what they make. I’d give this place a hard pass unless you’re one of those hipsters who like taking pictures of pretty food placed on top of a reclaimed butcher block table. Then this place is perfect for you.

Very impressive, delicious, menu. Fresh, local ingrediants with impressive flavor combinations. Highly recommended.

We booked a business meeting at The Little London Plane. It’s the size of a café and was the perfect size for our offsite.
Meg was the catering manager that I worked with and was professional and helpful the entire time.
They require that catering be set-​up through them which is typical for event spaces. However, the limited menu that was at their liberty to be changed wasn’t ideal. Having only one protein for the entrée for a large group isn’t the best. The reviews on the food was a mixed bag. Some liked it and others didn’t care for it. I didn’t partake of the food so I have no personal opinion on it. They served drinks for the full time period of the meeting which was great.
AV options are rented through a third party and the prices were a bit steep but they managed all of the logistics so it was worth it to pay for the service.
The space is decorated in a pleasing way with a huge bookshelf and modern, clean lines.
There’s no parking available at this building so you’ll be using a garage nearby.

I love the setting here. Whether you sit at the bar, a community table or your own private table its got a great feel. The staff is very knowledgable so if you are interested in wine, they have a great selection and the they are very open to sharing thoughts, recommendations and tastes to help you choose. This is probably my favorite place for a drink or happy hour in Pioneer Square.

We stopped by to have a glass of wine and little tapas such as olives and bread. Great ambiance and friendly waiters. Love the happy hr.

Had my wedding reception here and rented out the space. Staff was amazingly friendly and on top of everything. Décor of the shelving with the wine and books was beautiful and exactly the feel we were going for. This is an amazing and intimate space for about 30 people. The food was incredible too. Wedding food is usually catered and boring, but the food here is modern, complex yet simple and deliciously flavorful. Absolutely would recommend.

I’ve only been here for happy hours, but I really enjoy the knowledge the staff has here. They have a huge selection of wines and are willing to help anyone find that perfect bottle or glass.
The happy hour offers $ 5 glasses of wine and an array of mixed nuts and meats to order for a decent price.
The shop itself is very cute and clean. The big windows in the front make for good people watching. This is a place my co-​workers and I frequent after a long Friday working.

Modern, streamlined, European-​like bar and restaurant in the middle of Pioneer Square.
We came here on a Friday night for the happy hour and ordered the $ 5 red wine from Italy, the three cheese plate and the sourdough bread. The wine was great, very drinkable. The cheese plate was tasty with some delicious fruit spreads, but the portions were small, barely enough to call a snack. The sourdough was chewy on the inside with a good crust on the outside, but also on the smaller side.
The décor is really aesthetically pleasing at this bar, with lots of open space, and tall windows with a view of brick-​lined Occidental Street.
Overall, I would recommend this place for an after work happy hour wine drinking spot or for a post-​dinner drink.

I love the concept of London plane. Clean ingredients and a simple menu. However it just didn’t really work for me for brunch. My main gripes were: no espresso coffee, brunch menu is a deconstruction that you have to put together yourself which I think is too much work and also ends up becoming very costly very soon. Might try it later in the day for wine and cheese but won’t be back for brunch.

We had our office holiday party here and the space worked perfectly for our group of 20 – 30 people. We had a wonderful evening with yummy appetizers and drinks. Only downside is that you have to go outside to another building to use the restroom — other than that little detail, great space!

I celebrated my birthday at The Little London Plane last night and had the most amazing time! We had fantastic wine and great bites to accompany (at such reasonable prices). The ladies working were so lovely, attentive and knowledgeable. The ambience was also outstanding — modern yet rustic. I can’t wait to go back. and also check out The London Plane for coffee, pastries, and shop in their floral and housewares department!
Pioneer Square isn’t a place I chose to go anymore (even though we live in the city). It’s become dumpy. But with places like The London Plane, I really believe it will revamp that area!!!

Fantastic ambiance, interesting and innovative venue. Great for private parties.

I am in love with the London Plane, so figured I’d better check out the wine bar down the street. Not only is this in the one «charming» up-​and-​coming section of Pioneer Square (within 2 blocks: Bar Sajor, Taylor Shellfish, Rainshadow Meats, Café Umbria, Cone & Steiner, Quality Athletics… and more to come!), the ambiance of this corner wine bar stands on its own.
I was blown away by their Happy Hour. Seriously — one of the best deals in town. HH wines by the glass were excellent (not just the least expensive ‘house white,’ but instead a very decent selection of wine), and the small plates were quite generous (particularly in a city where Happy Hour plates often equate to a small saucer with two bites). I’ll definitely be back.

We originally stopped by the London Plane but at an awkward time where they were not yet offering full service (between lunch and dinner hours). We were given the option to walk three buildings down to the Little London plane which was in the midst of happy hour (4 – 6 pm) and available for full service.
It’s wasn’t as decorated as the London Plane but it was cozy, library-​esque and fit our purposes as for ordering full menu options. The selection was less than the mother restaurant (mostly in pastry selection) but still quality.
The biggest hiccup with this place was the service. Water was left empty, we had an extra guest that wasn’t attended to, and I had to ask for a wine refill twice. The first time there was none to little customers, the second I was told to wait after she took someone else’s order. My guest didn’t like her dismissive tone to me when I had requested the second time around, though I feel like I had already caught onto her attitude the first time.
I’m not sure what happened since we sat down and our server was eagerly describing her favorite cheese on the platter of choices, but by the end, we were being helped by a more experienced member of the staff who was a much more gracious host.

Pioneer Square is really taking off in earnest with the arrival of the London Plane, from the owners of Bar Sajor (Matt Dillon) and Marigold and Mint.
Open now in a corner location, directly across the street from Bar Sajor, this cozy spot with high ceilings and whitewashed walls houses several long wooden communal tables, a bar serving lots of wine by the glass, nibbles (a few customers were having tea and cakes) and floor to ceiling bookshelves containing every drool worthy cookbook you never knew you needed, along with beautifully curated housewares. In the window a flower tribute to the Seahawks is probably the most elegant 12 man variation we’ve seen around town, showcasing the artistic creativity of its owners. We found out that this atmospheric space can be rented to host a private event or dinner party and it looks like a great urban venue for a small event. I can just imagine the floral displays. Food offerings are minimal at this location, but its a perfect spot for a glass of wine after work, and a nice spot to host a small event.
The space itself is beautiful, but what is really exciting, besides the look and feel of things, is the promise that this location is just the tip of the iceberg. We were told by a staff member excitedly that a much larger space will open soon just down the street in the model of the Melrose Market, with more food and drink offerings. Here in Pioneer Square in a refurbished brownstone? Terrific news.
I’ve been a secret fan of Pioneer Square since moving to Seattle, with its gorgeous brick history and imbedded art gallery culture abutting true urban grit, of the type that can often feel a little too gritty, particularly in a polite city like Seattle. It always struck me as having more untapped potential (and more historic square footage) than Ballard Avenue. Now seeing Pioneer Square being embraced by more innovative businesses from hold-​out cult sandwich and cured meats shop Salume, to Bar Sajor, to butcher-​ific Rainshadow Meats Squared, and down the street from (what will soon become) a block long London Plane location, well, I can’t wait to see this new food-​centric part of town rise up, and take off!

What a gem! I found The Little London Plane when I made the mistake of going to the London Plane for a lunch meeting this week. Confusing, I know — but The Little London Plane is an entirely different business at the other end of the same city block. In fact, the two businesses have different offerings and so I was glad to get a chance to hang out at both and see for myself.
The Little London Plane is exactly that. It’s little. At least compared to its sister location up the street. And unlike the other location, this spot is less of a prepped meal, shopping and/​or experience and more of a sit down, drink wine, and relax experience.
Apart from the staring at the absolutely awesome ceiling decoration of dried leaves, I had a hard time keeping my eyes off the expansive bookshelves that line the east wall of the space. With a bit of a modern library feel, Matt Dillon and his incredible team of talented chefs have curated an amazing bookstore wall for you to check out. What better place to buy a cookbook than from here? The selections of books is massive and they’re all handpicked by one of the best kitchen staffs in the entire country!
With ample outdoor and indoor communal style seating, this is a great place to unwind with coworkers or friends. It’s also perfect for coming alone and reading a book or working on a computer. Small plates kickstart in the afternoon and there’s a great selection of wines to choose from. If you’re not feeling social or you have somewhere to be, you can also buy wines and some housewares for takeaway. I loved sitting here and relaxing on a sunny day outside, but I’ll surely be back if I need wine on the go as well.
And though I haven’t been to a party here yet, I’ve got word that this is an event space as well. Hrmmm… Maybe a perfect venue for my 32^nd bday? We shall see!
