Incredibly fresh seafood, best Caesar salad in Seattle, fun atmosphere, great staff. Must try.

I love my oysters and this place is the perfect place to satisfy my cravings. Their oysters are fresh, cold and have a nice selection. My fav are the kushi or the kumamotos. Also had their version of a clam chowder which is good and goes great with a side of bread. Yum. Its a pretty small place so it does get crowded. Service is great and they are very knowledgeable.

Holy Oyster! OK, we stopped by after visiting the Woodland Park Zoo. The last time we were in Seattle, we stayed literally footsteps from this location and didn’t know about it. After eating here this time, I was kicking myself for not knowing about it then. I decided that since we were taking an Über from the Woodland area back to Downtown, we could split the trip and stop here in Queen Anne. We didn’t get here during the happy hour time, so it was a bit pricey, but it was so worth it. The waiter let us know that they were waiting for delivery of some oysters on the menu, so we had to select from three. However, a few minutes later he informed us that they just got a fresh delivery and we would get those as well! We started with the Geoduck, which was new to us. It’s really fresh tasting, and not having anything to compare to, I liked it a lot. We then had the shucker’s dozen. These were hands down the best oysters I’ve had in my entire life anywhere… ever. We decided on our own personal favorites. My girlfriend liked the Shigoku and I really like the Grand Cru. We let our waiter know those were our favorites and he said those were the freshly delivered ones and that the Grand Cru is like the big brother of the Shigoku. We ordered two more of each, which was cool, since you don’t have to order by the ½ dozen. The Grand Cru are HUGE and so flavorful. These are not for the novice oyster eater, so if you’re new to oysters, be aware that to me, it was like the ultimate oyster. The Shgoku oysters were a nice bite size and very delicate in flavor and texture. The shucker really looked like she knew what she was doing. We literally watched them bring in fresh oysters and put them in those cool sinks with the running water. Our waiter was very friendly and prompt. He made a really good bloody mary. If you are in Seattle and want seafood, I suggest you try this place first. They have a few locations, so you should be able to find one near you. I liked this location in particular due to it’s secluded location, kind of hidden away.

Oysters are so fresh & yummy. I got there during their pick time around 6−7pm, so I had to wait a bit to get a seat, but it’s so worth the wait! I only tried fresh oysters and oyster stew/soup. Oysters were very briny/fresh — just get as many as you can eat. The soup was just okay for me — Very light/runny/creamy with lots of oysters, but it lacked some fresh herb flavor. Some Fresh parsley/herbs sprinkled on top would make the soup so much better. A little blend for my taste. I will def. go back to try other stuff on their menu + more fresh oysters.

Excellent oysters. The best shucked oysters that I’ve ever tasted. The guy who shucked it(Jason?) is supposedly the best shucker in Seattle, and I believe it. The oysters perfectly had no shell pieces in there, more than enough natural juices and tasted fresh out of the ocean. Our oysters were very briny, that natural saltiness flavor… Delicious. It was so good, we had to order a second round! We also had the pleasure of tasting the geoduck. This was my first time trying geoduck and it was a delicious buttery clam. It was $ 14 for an ounce… Expensive! We don’t get geoduck in SD, so the geoduck sashimi was a good thing to try. We’ll be coming back for oysters and geoduck!

The service was amazing! We came on a Monday for a party of six and they really knew how to make everyone happy! Caesar salad — delicious, the croutons are crushed into small pieces and make for a delicious addition to the salad. Miso soup– a twist from the average Japanese miso soup, it also has three shelled clams in the soup. Very flavorful Clams– very tasty and delicious with the complimentary bread they serve! Cucumber salad — quite small but still very delicious! Oysters– I am allergic, but everyone else loved them. Definitely pay the extra $ 1.00 for the fresh horseradish cheese. Crab– to die for! Their butter sauce is delicious as well.

Came here for happy hour and loved the food that we had! We had the shigoku oysters that were on special and I loved the light citrusy sauce they came with. Oyster dip was solid and I kept going back for more. Oyster stew was amazing and rivals that of pikes place chowder. Home style clams were alright. The creamy sauce it came with tasted a little too much of wine but the clams were plump and fresh. Service was great and the waiter was extremely knowledgable about the establishment. Definitely recommend this restaurant and I will be coming back next time I’m in town!

Great oyster selection, clean and comfortable ambiance, and very nice service! When you’re craving for fresh oysters in the area, this is where you go. We started with a variety selection to get a good feel of what they have in stock. Thankfully they have a round of tasting as part of their menu, a dozen for $ 32. Not bad. Once we have found the ones we like, we ordered another few pieces of those, at around $ 3/each. The quality of the oysters is definitely fresh! We also like they way they cut the oysters open, none of it was damaged. Too often did we experience damaged oysters in the past. The salads and soups were delicious too. Our table ordered the mussels in cream wine broth, ceasar salad(made with anchovies), and the Asian-infused cucumber salad. All were delicious and exceeded my expectations. For the price, though, I’m not so sure I’ll be returning. I’m a huge fan of oyster happy hours, and they don’t offer any. If you’re looking for quality, definitely come here, but not the place if you want to get a good deal for oysters.

What a great experience! Loved our waiter: confident, attentive, funny, and knowledgeable. Loved the ambience: clean, fresh, and not too noisy. And loved our food: not too fishy, FRESH, and soooo soft. (Shig happy hour)

Prior to this, I thought Hog Island in SF was the place to be for oysters, but this proved me wrong. I’m not surprised, however, cuz we’re in WA and these were fresssshhhh. Came here with a group of 4 for dinner at 6pm on a Monday night, and while the place was almost full, we only had to wait a mere 5 minutes or so for a table. Service was hilarious and awesome that night. Our table ordered some drinks which came out deliciously strong and spirit-forward, and followed with 4 shucker’s dozen. Our favorites: kumamoto, virginica, sumo kumo Other selections we had: totten inlet pacific, grand cru, olympia They ran out of the shigoku variety, which is why they subbed us the sumo kumo’s at no additional charge. Score. The oysters were seriously fresh off the boat, all cleanly shucked, not briny whatsoever, and most definitely did not contain any grit. Clean clean clean. They also gave us sides of cocktail sauce, vinegar, fresh horseradish, and some habanero and another kind of hot sauce to go with our order. Needless to say, if you’re anywhere in the PNW, definitely make it a point to stop by Taylor Shellfish for some oysters. Each dozen runs you $ 30, but its a fair price.

The seafood was fresh, the waiter(Stump) was talkative, knowledgeable and friendly, and we didn’t have a wait after the 7pm wave on New Year’s Eve. If you want dungeness crab, ask to see if they have or will make you a crab cocktail. It’s got a strong horseradish slaw on the bottom and is topped with cocktail sauce and a lemon wedge. The shuckers dozen oysters was the best choice. You get to try most of the ones on there menu and save a buck or two. It came with a champagne vinaigrette. Would come back and eat a lot of this fresh yumminess My usual favorite is the Kumamoto, and they had an older Kumamoto which was interesting. The tiny Olympia was also very good– it had a tiny, butter body We also got the geoduck. It was great, but isn’t my most favorite thing in the world. The belly cut was pretty nice! Smoked oyster dip was addicting — like a smokey onion dip but with oysters

Really cool spot Great Happy Hour– shared a bottle of a 2014 Domaine La Croix Belle Caringole Rose, at a pretty decent price, although I’m not sure if I matched the Dungeness Crab we ordered(but it’s all good!) The place is clean, modern, great valued, and a simple menu. i enjoyed the great service, but I would recommend this place for light meals or snacks. Net– if you’re super hungry, and cold from the Seattle rain looking for some hearty manly meal, skip this place. If you’re looking for a light, fun, restaurant with fresh seafood, come on down!

Ten points for creativity! I was blown away by the seasonal baked oysters, complete with spaghetti squash and gruyère. It was like an oyster pizza! I grew up eating fresh oysters caught by my family of commercial fishermen in coastal North Carolina, so you could call me an oyster snob. But sorry east coast oysters, these were legit some of the best oysters I’ve ever had. The restaurant is tiny, so be prepared. While well-informed, I sensed a bit of the Seattle cold shoulder from the waitstaff. They were by no means unfriendly, but just kind of distant. I don’t really know how to describe it, it was just sort of a vibe. Also, parking nearby is a nightmare, but that is the case for anywhere in Seattle. I would recommend taking the bus, or do as we did and pay $ 15 to park in Mercer Street garage 0.3 miles away. It’s a pretty walk, especially after dusk. It IS worth the walk or bus ride to come here.

I stopped by here on a trip to Seattle while visiting the Space Needle. I arrived there in the afternoon and my group was the only party in the place. We were seated quickly and our orders were taken right away. The service was pretty great, it seemed like the waiter was really passionate about what he did. I got the whiskey flight, which came with three shots whiskey paired with 2 oysters each. When I got the order the I got specific instructions on how to eat the oysters with the whiskey and which oysters paired with different whiskeys. He even demonstrated by taking a shot with me. The oysters tasted really fresh and everyone in the party had a good time. If you love oyster’s, then you have to check out this place the next time your in Seattle.

What a great neighborhood gem! Extremely fresh seafood, we ordered the homestead steamed clams and our own requested simply steamed mussels. Huge mussels and all very flavorful. Staff were also amazing, super friendly and knowledgeable.

I was on a mission to get some fresh seafood in Seattle. Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar was on my list to go to. I’m just glad this place was close to the Space Needle because we walked over to this location. We walked in about a half hour before Happy Hour, but it was no big deal. I just wanted to relax and enjoy. Our waiter was amazing. I wish I could remember his name. He really made the experience top notch level. We ordered the Shuckers dozen, geoduck clam, dungeness crab, and the day special of baked oysters. I’m just realizing now, that was a lot of food. Oysters were amazing. Each couple of oysters had different tastes from sweet to salty. They were super fresh. Absolutely did not need any squeeze of lemon or sauce, even though it was provided. Geoduck Clam was so good. I’ve never had it raw but this first experience makes realize how exquisite this clam is. Soft and chewy, dab some wasabi and soy = epic EXPLOSION in my mouth. The dungeness crab was easy to eat. Sweet succulent pieces of meat as we peel it out. The dish came with Taylor Shellfish crab butter, which was fantastic with the meat. Seriously, accented the meat to another world. Our waiter recommended some bread with the crab butter… um I went to heaven that day. Super rich and creamy, as they used the inner juices of the crab. My mouth is salivating right now as I write this. Also, the slaw that comes with the dish is super refreshing. Works well with the heavy crab butter. The baked oysters were extremely filling. Large chunks of oysters because they expand once you«cook» them, add some cheese and spaghetti squash. Wow. It was so delicious. After all of this, I think I was on a hormone high if you know what I mean! Experience was great. Service was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable with the oysters. All the food that we had was just amazing. FRESHFRESHFRESH!!! DEFINITELY, GIVEIT A TRY!!!

Next level WOW’d! Being in Seattle for a few days without trying oysters, I woke up on Saturday morning on a mission to get some. Looked up oyster bars nearby our hotel on Unilocal to discover this location was only two blocks away. When we arrived at 12pm it wasn’t too crowed and the bar was completely open so we took a seat, then people started pouring in. Service was awesome, they were all friendly, helpful and seemed to be enjoying themselves while making delicious food … bopping to the 80’s playing in the background. Love me some 80’s jams. Now to the FOOD! Before we ordered we saw a fisherman drop off a fresh batch of seafood… probably the best part of the experience! We ordered the Shucker’s Dozen, bread w/butter and Caesar salad. The selection of oysters were the freshest… just amazing. We especially enjoyed the Shigoku and ended up ordering another round of these. The Caesar salad is so flavorful and perfect, I’m not even a salad lover and I was thoroughly enjoying this(fresh anchovies on top). The woman who made it realized how much I was enjoying it while we both agreed it was the best Caesar we ever had. The best places have staff who love the food they are serving, hearing them say they want that for lunch before they are running food just makes you enjoy it that much more. The bread and butter was basic but complimented everything well, soaking up the last bits of that Caesar salad. I do wish the bread was warm/softer. Another enjoyable experience when sitting at the bar is being able to watch them make everything to order. Seeing them prepare the crab after I was happy and full still made my mouth water. The menu is small and simple. A non-seafood lover may have a hard time ordering food here but don’t let them keep you away.

Uhhhh, WOW! The freshest Pacific Oysters on the planet? That good. After a walk through the Seattle Center and park area, heading further around to Republican St, we found(well we already had decided before we even got to Seattle we were getting good oysters somewhere), this place. This great little spot. Our server was this young, very-excited-about-oysters, kid who seemed just really happy to see us. And serve us. We ordered the dozen, sampler. They were amazing! And, by the way, who hasn’t taken pictures of these amazing little mollusks? We also ordered the prawns(2) and the geoduck clam. I have to say I would knock a ½ star down for the prawns because they were small. The geoduck clam was very tasty!

I love Taylor Shellfish so much! Their happy hour deals are the best. A dozen oysters for $ 20 I believe… and super fresh and tasty. They have a few outdoor seats which are perfect for sunny days, and the service is just so accommodating and great. I also like their manila clams and the shrimp po boy! Their geoduck sashimi dish was also pretty great too. It’s a small portion but worth a try if you’ve never had it before.

If you are disgusted by seafood or raw seafood then turn away! But if you’re feeling adventurous or love raw oysters, READONMYFELLOWOYSTERLOVERS! Taylor Shellfish farms its own oysters and brings it to store fronts like the ones in Queen Anne and Capitol Hill for your raw oyster eating pleasure. To me, as a Seattle transplant(from Los Angeles), it’s a must-try for any oyster lover who makes their way to the Emerald City. They serve oysters from the Pacific Northwest to British Columbia, all while maintaining a keen emphasis on freshness. Plus, it’s very affordable and a great place to take out of town guests looking to try the freshest seafood Seattle has to offer. I typically order a sampler of a dozen oysters(usually 4 types of oysters, 3 of each) — but that can easily be shared among two hungry people. The platter is beautifully plated on top of a bed of ice in a circular tin container(see pics). Top your oyster with their tangy mignonette, a squirt of lemon, a splash of tabasco, slurp and BAM! Heaven in your mouf. They also serve bread and butter, which helps cleanse your palate and absorbs the briny taste that can sometimes linger. All in all, best oysters in Seattle hands down. c
