Meh. Was seated too closely to other people. Food was expensive and not actually that exciting. Our visit contributed to a lackluster trip to the museum. I had the pizza that had WAY too much Arugula on it

Came here for lunch with a big group and found it fine, but far from great. I ordered the steak frites. Beautifully presented, but my medium rare steak was a bit overcooked and the meat was too tough. The frites were thin and presentable, but the kitchen was too heavy-handed with the blue cheese and the capers, making the end result too salty. My group seemed to enjoy their meals, but the general consensus was that the food was too salty.

Not quite what I was expecting, in good ways and bad. I sat at the bar in the last hour of the days’ Sunday service and ordered a butternut squash soup as an appetizer, which was really excellent and sized more like a dinner portion. I also ordered the Brussels sprouts side and the deviled egg side for $ 5 apiece, and the portions were much larger than I expected. All delicious but I was not expecting so much food and left much fuller than I thought I would. Again, unexpected in ways both good and bad. The service was not great, but the food was better and more reasonably priced than I thought it would be, so I left happy. I’d definitely come back for a simple delicious dinner since I live in the neighborhood or meet a friend here for happy hour and snacks.

Had a work lunch at Taste before heading off for our group tour of the SAM. The menu was small but it seems like it changes a lot. The food was ok. I ordered the grilled chicken over pasta? I honestly forgot. The chicken was a tad dry and the pasta’s mustard sauce was pretty overwhelming. Service was superb though!

My son, my mother and I went here for dinner tonight. Beautiful environment and very good service but the food was awful. Bland Beef and Broccoli, all the textures were the same lackluster mushiness. Same with the Chicken and Broccoli. Very tasteless dishes except the Volcano sushi. OMG it was soooo fishy! It was inedible. They graciously took it off the bill. The potstickers were very small and fell right apart. The Won Ton soup however was excellent. Aside from the diet Pepsi, it was the best thing we had. Once again tho, the service was excellent and the food came out almost instantly but we will not be returning and I cannot recommend this restaurant.

You had me with the beautiful Glassybaby on the table that coordinated perfectly with the placemats. I’ve walked by here many, many times without stopping in. After a walk through the museum, a hungry child in tow, I finally stopped in. I was a bit skeptical at first given the sophisticated look. Are kids welcome here?!? They are! There is a menu just for the littles! Thank you a million times over! Our server was a delight. So friendly and super attentive. Extremely apologetic for things not available to order. Kid’s cheese pizza was huge. And claimed to be the best. EVER. She knows her pizza, too. On my end… There are deviled eggs. For $ 5. And they are ahhhhhhhh-mazing. I could’ve licked my plate. I didn’t. Under each egg was some extra filling… Uhhhhh, yes please! Who needs the egg white when there is all that yummy, tangy, pickled filling?!? The salad was great, too. An orange vinaigrette that was perfectly sweet and a bit sour. So well balanced especially with the blue cheese. The Malbec was divine… One that I will have to stock up on!

Sooooo… to make the story short. We are here visiting. Tried to go to Japanessa which is across the street but was told the wait was 2 hrs. I was fiancé, daughter and I walked around looking for a good restaurant.(Used Unilocal to navigate us) It was an epic failed, we were on foot, I was starving and we got lost. Anyhow we passed by Taste and noticed it was empty inside. Looked on Unilocal and it has decent reviews. We didn’t go in at first because from across the street it looks like fine dining.(We had our 6.5 month old baby girl) Until we saw a family of 4(2 little boys, parents dressed very causal) I made up my mind… We are eating at Taste. It was one of my best decisions(lol) Friendly staff, great relaxing not too formal atmosphere. Baby friendly(at least when we were there) and affordable. Food??? Oh yeah, it was delicious. I had the pan-seared salmon and the fiancé had the burger n fries. The burger made on his top 3 burgers. Everything about the burger was delicious and up to par. Even the pickles were crunchy and mouthwatering. Overall our experience was great. Will definitely come back on our next visit

I’m really beginning to dread large group lunches. One day, about 10 of us went to lunch at another restaurant nearby. Unfortunately, the person who made the arrangements failed to make a reservation. Around 12pm. On a Friday. One person in our group suggested that we come here. I’ve been to Taste before and honestly, if you’re hungry, it does the trick. I’m not happy about the prices in relation to the food quality. I had the maitaki mushroom flatbread. I love maitaki mushrooms! I’m not sure how, but somehow, the chef managed to make it taste«meh.» The flavors were confusing and conflicted. I also had the polenta fries. They were pretty good. Good shape, fried crisp, and nice texture. The dipping sauces could have been better. If I had the polenta fries standing alone, I’d be okay. That pizza was not very good. More troubling than the meal I had was the server who asked if I wanted my unfinished flatbread boxed(half of it was on the plate) but didn’t inquire as to why I didn’t finish it. For those of you reading, a one hour lunch turned into a two hour debacle, which is why I didn’t send it back. Also, judging from the responses around the table, I wasn’t optimistic that I’d get something better. Overall, if you have a big group that can’t get a seat at another restaurant during the busiest time of day, Taste can easily accommodate you.

We have been travelling for 3 weeks now and never had such attitude from a waiter. He was condescending and just plain rude. We walked out after his attitude when taking our order — just awful.

Me and my friend went for Sunday Brunch, and the coffee was amazing! The place was very nice and the service was great. However, the eggs benedict looked amazing, but was really dissappointing. It was no seasoned at all and the homemade english muffin was really dense and unappealing served with some undressed lettuce with a couple blue cheese crumbs and one nut — needless to say my friend left hungry still. The corned beef hash had good flavor, but could use more corned beef and less fiddle heads. The cinnamon roll we shared however was the highlight. Next time we will just stop in for coffee and cinnamon roll and skip the entrees.

This is a review of their lunch. Inventive, delicious and served by a very friendly staff. This place gets two thumbs up from me. The Louie louie got rave reviews from several of those I came with. I had a special that day which I believe was a hanger steak of sorts? Mine was delicious too. The portion was perfect for lunch time with no leftovers for me to take back to the office with me. It’s on the pricier side than a normal daily lunch. However, this spot is great for special occasion lunches if you work downtown(in the Financial district) or if you’re in downtown Seattle for a visit to the SAM. You get great quality delicious foods with great service at, frankly, not the steepest of prices for what you get. It FEELS hoity toity but service definitely didn’t feel that way. Also, let’s be real, it’s IN an art museum so I feel like that’s to be expected.

I came here for a weekday lunch with a friend. It wasn’t anything to write home about but I did learn about my friend’s order, which was saimin, a hawaiian version of ramen. Having thought I knew a lot about ramen, Taste had to go and stump me on that one. I had a BLT with fries, and it came on crusty buttery french bread, which was a nice touch on a classic BLT. It was really empty, as in, my friend and I were the only patrons, so not sure if it’s usually that empty or if it’s just a better spot for happy hour/drinks than for lunch.

Came to this place on my anniversary evening. I feel like the restaurant would be better named: Bland. The food was just very boring & lacked seasoning. I’ve made better versions of the dishes I had at home. it’s not that the food was horrible, but if you’re looking to be inspired here, ain’t gonna happen. The cocktail menu as well needed some love. Just because you add«bitters» to a regular Gin and Tonic doesn’t make it «the Hammered man.» It’s an art museum, let’s get creative.

Taste is inside Seattle Art Museum, but you don’t need to go to the museum to go there. On Sundays they have a brunch menu for lunch and on other weekdays their regular menu which has some items that stay and others that are changed out to reflect the seasons. I will give it a 3.5 overall but this first time they messed up my order a little so I can’t give them more. It’s run by Bön Appetit that is a large catering company and believes in sustainable sourcing and cooking from scratch. I’ve had their food before and it’s always good, even in corporate cafeterias. In one corporate cafeteria they used to make fresh mozarella every day right in the kitchen, and also make all soups from scratch, I often watched them doing it. I wonder if the same methods are applied at Taste. If they are, I should try the butternut squash soup as the soup I ate in a cafeteria in MN run by Bön Appetit was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. So this time me and my lunch companion both ordered the burger with fries. The burger was cooked well and the meat was good. I’ve never really eaten a truly great burger in Seattle, but this one was above average. I’d asked for the sauce on the side but the server forgot, and that made it a little more soggy than I like. The service was good, and the server very friendly, and spent a lot of time at our table even giving us recommendations for other good restaurants! Overall, the food is good and reasonably priced for the location for the lunch time menu. I would probably stop by again on my next visit to SAM.

Located on the ground floor of the Seattle Art Museum(SAM) is the museum restaurant Taste. It looks very modern and spacious and the atmosphere is very quiet. Very interesting, be it relatively small, menu with delicious seasonal menu items. The service is very friendly and personal.

I hit SAM’s Taste regularly without even going into the museum. I bus all the way from Fremont for their juicy, delicious burger. Mmmmm… The fries that come with it are thin and perfectly crispy! They offer a limited, but yummy vegetarian selection for lunch and dinner. There was only one vegetarian option last time I went, but you can hobble together a perfect compilation of sides if you don’t like the sound of the it. The baked semolina(vegetarian) is very good and filling. Dinner entrees are $ 15 -$ 24 appetizers are around $ 10-$ 12. They offer 3 local draught beers and several bottle options, and tons of wine! They even have several ciders. If you’re here for dinner, ask for the free bread. And I HIGHLY recommend the leek soup. It’s very creamy and flavorful, without being overpoweringly oniony.

We stopped in for drinks before viewing the Miro exhibit. The happy hour deals are good and the bartender was a blast! Very friendly and personable, gave good suggestions are small samples of the beers on tap. I went out of my comfort zone and ordered a cocktail with basil and crème de fraise — it was excellent! Very usual and delicious, exactly what I expect from a thoughtfully crafted cocktail. We ordered several plates to share, and they were all good. The deviled eggs and polenta fries were the best. The deep fried cheese curds had melted a little too much, and the pickled vegetables were very good, but not what I’d consider a proper bar nosh. The food came out very quickly as well, likely as we came right at the start of happy hour. Will definitely come back before my next museum trip — plus SAM Members get 10% off! I’m sold!

TASTE is our go-to place for dinner or drinks when we visit SAM. Very friendly staff(their bartenders are great). Excellent food and nice atmosphere. It’s a bit pretentious, but it’s at an art museum! After a long afternoon of visiting exhibits, old and new, TASTE is a great spot for a drink and dessert, or just a full meal. We also like grabbing dinner at TASTE before performances at Beneroya.
