I call Tamarind Tree my «fancy Vietnamese place.» The price is a bit higher but the food is high quality. I was pretty disappointed with the veggie phở, but this isn’t really your local phở place anyway. The bun bowls are great but my favorite is the desserts! The ice cream flavors totally take me back to eating ice cream on the street in Vietnam. I recommend the black sesame but I like the durian too and I’m not usually a durian fan. What you’re really paying the higher price for is the nicer ambiance and more attentive service. The food is good but not a mile above my other favorite Vietnamese places, but I like to come here if it’s more of an occasion or I’m feelin a little fancier.
