Best Tamarind Soup, EVER!!! The Bahn Mi sandwich was perfect, lightly crispy on the outside, but soft and chewy and full of savory veggies and grilled pork inside, & dont even get me started on the Sugar Cane Shrimp wraps!!! Go there, NOW!!! Tell em Jacquie sent you! (Of course, theyll have no idea who youre talking about)

I am super picky about Vietnamese food so it was great to find this place. Really enjoyed the food, which is rare for most of the places I’ve gone to around the Seattle area. There was nothing that I tried, that I didn’t like. Also they have a parking lot, which is very helpful to find free parking in the International District! Both the waitress & the owner/manager seemed very friendly. Please note that this is NOT affiliated with the Thanh Vi in the University District, completely different place. I hope you will take a look at my photos of all the yummy food and drink we had. It’s hard to say what my favorite was: possibly a tie between the spring rolls or one of the beef dishes. Prices are also pretty reasonable :)

Standard, middle of the road vietnamese fare. We went here since Vietnam House around the corner was packed. Service was a bit slow, but the food came out decently fast. Gotta love asian food. Got the rice combo with the bone in pork chop, fried egg, and all the other side things(shrimp rolled around sugar cane, meatloaf type thing… etc.) all for $ 13. Pretty standard and good. The vermicelli was the same(we always get the charboiled pork with egg rolls) — there’s nothing spectacular, but nothing wrong with it either. We shared a ban xeo(vietnamese pancake) and this was a noticeable difference– it was a lot crispier and thicker(thicker batter) than most ban xeo’s I’ve had. Not particularly better or worse, but I think I prefer the thinner version. The veggies were a little wilted and not that clean, and the meat they put inside the ban xeo is mostly pork fat, so not my fave either. Good, not great.

We came here for dinner on a Friday night, around 8 p.m. There was nine of us and they didn’t have a large table so they put two tables together. The customer service here is great: we had four waiters who went back and forth to deliver food, straws, napkins, extra sauce, etc. I had Com Tam Suon Bi Cha, which was steamed broken rice with grilled marinated pork chop, shredded pork, baked ground pork, and egg. My favorite was the marinated pork, which was tender and had a good flavor. Other people in our group wasn’t so lucky: Bun Bo He and Bun Thit Nuong were among some of the dishes that were considered so-so.

What in the world just happened here? So, I’ve been to Thanh Vi many times and it’s a place that I enjoy going to because they always have lots of seating and with having two sub-3 year old kids, such things are now a strong consideration. First, when we order I can tell that our very nice waitress didn’t know the menu because she had trouble understanding what we were ordering. We had never seen her before so I didn’t give it much thought but then… — She got my order wrong in that I was trying to order a platter and instead got a bowl. — When they corrected it, instead of giving me the grilled pork, I got the pork patties — I didn’t say anything and ate it anyway — Our cha gio didn’t come out and we had to remind her near the end of the meal. I was going to let that pass too, but the younger daughter finally awoke from her slumber and I figured it was a good chance to feed her something solid. So the thing is, it wasn’t just the waitress but also the coordination with the kitchen as well. I was confused until I walked outside and noticed the«UNDERNEWMANAGEMENT!» sign. I mean, the sign is huge so I have no idea how I missed it in the first place but the new management clearly has some work to do. I’ve had such a great time in the past that I’ll surely give it another try but I really was disappointed in the experience. Ten Leaves Bistro is around the corner and I normally consider that place to be inferior but maybe I should give it another try.

We were from Canada visiting and we always go to Thanh Vi when we visit Seattle because they offer authentic dishes with authentic taste profiles. The Banh Xeo or Duck Chowder Soup went straight to my soul. Simply delicious and can’t wait to come back !

Thanh Vi offers delicious authentic Vietnamese food. Bun mang vit(soup noodle with duck & bamboo) was awesome! Duck was lean. Veggies were perfectly pickled. Com ga mien Trung(Central VN’s rice chicken) was tasty. Thumbs up for phở was well. Prices are very reasonable with generous portions. Ambiance was great. Bathrooms were clean. The health department came while we were there and the restaurant passed with flying colors. We’ll be back and next time we will bring our friends and family.

Never coming here again. Ordered to-go and by the time I got here to pick up my order waited another 20 mins. Took them 45 mins to have my order ready. Additionally, they forgot to ring up one more order… I ran back in to order again — extra 10 more mins. Bad experience here overall.

Not a horrible place per se. Avoid the fried calamari appetizer. It’s just… not good. Tastes sorta burnt. I found a rubber band in mine. My spicy beef and rice entrée wasn’t bad. But with all the other good choices for cheap eats in this part of town, it’s hard to recommend this joint.

The Goi Vit gave us(party of 4 people) stomachache! One friend actually threw up and is feeling very lethargic right now! Some items on the menu are probably more dated than others. Please be aware of what you order. Check the appearance of your food.

Only come here for the Com Tam Bi Suon Cha(broken rice with shredded pork, pork chop and egg pie). From when I was a kid until now, this is my favorite place to eat that specific dish. Everything else they serve you can pass on. We ordered beef skewers and it came out with thinly sliced beef strips. They weren’t even on skewers! The meat was overly sweet and chewy. Phở Dac Biet looked tasty, but ended up being bland. The Banh Xeo had 2 tiny shrimp inside and was super thin and crispy. Now I love a fresh crispy Banh Xeo, but this was like eating a Tims Cascade potato chip. It was so crispy that After eating a 1⁄3 of it, it hurt the roof of my mouth. Not worth the calories in taste either.

I have had a llllllllllloooooooooooong history w/this place! Been going here since the early 90s. So many memories. the big broken rice plates they used 2 have for $ 5 back in the day w/huge portions of egg cake, pork chop n they used 2 have tomato slices that came w/it. how this place used 2 have a level higher than the floor in the back, the light blue uniforms 1 of the most recent owners implemented, the renovations, the different owners this place had, probly went thru 3 or 4 since then. w/each owner, 1 after the other diminishing the quality of the food @ this place.(yes, different owners bring different cooks n systems n times r different, 1 can make that argument). the previous owner left 2 open up Origins here on Downtown 2nd Avenue. @ 1st that place was good, but their quality is suffering as well but getting back 2 the current state of this restaurant. it is just a shadow of its former glory self this time, it did not help. when I come here, I usually order their broken rice dish, but I tried their beef stew instead, hoping it will b good, but it fell way short as well. the dish had nice aroma 2 it, but the dish needed more flavor n it contained 2 much fatty meat n not enough lean portions of beef that tenderly flake off. quite sadly, the baguette was the only highlight of it the iced coffee was ok I had some pork chop n egg cake from my mother’s dish of broken rice n the pork was overdone, the cake needed more flavor service was decent restroom was clean b4 Unilocal n during its«Glory Days», this place was supreme. now it is just a place 2 reminisce of the good times past

This is probably my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the Seattle area so far. I’ve really liked everything I’ve ordered here the last few times I’ve come. I’ve ordered the sua hot ga soda(club soda, sweetened condensed milk, egg yolk) a couple of times even though it wasn’t on the menu and they totally delivered.

The plazas parking lot is so tiny and so bad. People are always parking where they shouldn’t. And your biting your nails in fear staring out the window of people trying to park only an inch from your bumper. Like most Asian restaurants not to much customer service. They take your order and leave you alone to eat your food. They did have free wifi and I think 3 flat screen tv’s with the game on. My dad wanted to eat here and he ordered the bun mam and it had a really strong but good and addicting broth. I ordered the Com Tam Dac Biet. It was decent. The pork chop and bi was good. The shrimp cane was ok and I don’t like egg cake in general. Overall, it was ok, I’d come back only if my dad wanted to.

There are a few signs you know an Asian restaurant is good. This place lacked most of them, but the food wasn’t terrible. It gets a three star for that. One sign that made me skeptical of this place was the lack of Vietnamese people there. That is always a bsd sign when going into any restaurant. If you go to an ethnic restaurant and there is no one from that ethnicity in there, that is always concerning. This place had a decent mix of Vietnamese people. I was skeptical and a little hopeful. Another thing that made me skeptical was their special dishes. They were not at all Vietnamese. They were Thai. Never a good sign. My husband ordered the com tam suon bi. I ordered the hu tieu nam vang. I was sadly disappointed. They did not use hu tieu noodles. They used glass noodles. The pork was not pork belly. The broth itself was not very flavorful. However, their com tam was delicious. Grilled pork had lots of flavor. Their bi was salty, just the way I like it. Their chung was good. Flavorful. Fresh vegetables on the side, just like any traditional Vietnamese dish. Would not be opposed to coming here again. I will be weary of what I order. Looks like some items are a hit or miss.

Don’t try to order food to-go from them 15 – 30 before they close. I had an unfortunate experience with them attempting to call in an order. I ordered two dishes, both vegetarian, but one had to be modified veggie using tofu instead. The guy receiving my order seemed disinterested in taking it and I asked him to verify that he understood, he confirmed yes, but screwed it up and we picked up some luke-warm chicken curry. Otherwise decent place. This is the Vietnamese food made for Vietnamese palates not university district folk. The menu is different on many levels.

Came here for the first time as a celebration after my college graduation ceremony. BESTCHOICEEVERMADE! I’ve been ordering the same food I had on that day, coming back and forth, and not once was I not impressed with their service or food quality! This is definitely an excellent place to find Authentic Vietnamese food with almost similar taste. Bring a friend or two, I’ve seen this place in action, it can hold up to abt 30,40 people! Fantastic!

After being kneaded at a local Chinese foot massage salon, my friends and I ventured up the street to this pleasant restaurant where we indulged in plates of stir fried, pan-sauteed, and grilled meat & noodle dishes, plus my huge(I ordered a small — still huge!) bowl of chicken phở and fresh tofu & veggie rolls. Suffice it to say, we had a whole body experience that afternoon — one we will gladly choose again.

Despite the fact that I live closer to the U district Than Vi, I find myself frequenting the one in the ID — go figure — but it’s just that good. This is a Vietnamese place, yes, but have NEVEREVER *gasp* had the phở here. That’s because there’ is a ton of other stuff to try, from the rice platters to the vermicelli noodle bowls to the rice paper plates, where you slap together your own concoctions(so you can’t complain if the whole thing falls apart when you’re trying to bite into it). Than Vi is one of the first Vietnamese places I frequented, before Spring Garden, before Five Seasons, but it’s still one of the best. The service is always prompt and the food good value for the money. Still a winner after all this time!

The Bún bò Hu is nothing to write home about. I love Bún bò Hu and all the«interesting» bits, meat wise this just had strips of beef and some hand formed pork sausage. The noodles were thinner than I usually see in this dish and there was no heart or blood cake(which I realize may be a plus to some). Price was good though and the portion was right for me(I got a small) normally a small is still too big but their size was good.
