Tacos La Playita

Very tasty. No food poisoning. It may be sketchy but it is the perfect place if you want some cheap tacos on Alki. I ordered the Asada, Chorizo, and Pork, and the Asada was only decent, while the Pork was good and the Chorizo was amazingly mind-​blowing. Definitely recommend this place if you’re around alki.

Food truck rule #1 if no one else is lining up, it’s a good idea to stay away too.
After enjoying some beach time, I spotted this taco truck to my great delight. I’m always excited for food truck experiences. What should have warned me was the complete lack of any interest in this truck despite the crowds of people settling in around the area. Regardless, I pushed ahead and ordered a carne asada burrito. While the guy taking my order was plenty friendly and obliging, that didn’t help the fact that I definitely got some type of food poisoning afterwards. The next 16 hours were spent in the fetal position. Beware.

I was on the beach with my dog Hairy and I though I was seeing a mirage. A delicious, mexican taco mirage. Right there, across the street from the beach, two blocks from house was a Taco Truck in the parking lot of Alki Auto Repair. I quickly ran across the street to check; if it wasn’t a mirage, maybe it was only getting repaired. Holy cow it’s for rreal a taco truck two blocks from my house and it’s really good.
It was indeed the first day and I had the impression they hadn’t had too many customers. The owner seemed almost relieved that I wasn’t just checking it out but also ordering. That can be a lonely area on a cloudy day in the middle of the week. I got an Al Pastor and an Asada taco for 1.35 each. They are on the smallish side but the meat was well seasoned and not dried out.
Right now the plan is to be open until about 9:00 every night but the owner says he’ll play it by ear based on traffic. I’m a little worried about this location as a year round venture but the guy is really nice and his food is good so I’m hoping he’ll be able to make through the long lonely blustery days.
