I came here to buy some halal lamb meat as I was going to make dinner for some friends. The man behind the counter was friendly enough, but there were at least four other men who did nothing but stare at me with their arms crossed the entire time. I was very uncomfortable and upset by the time I left. And it’s not like I didn’t dress conservatively or act socially conservative. I’m a conservative Jew. Either way, I’m going to stick to buying kosher meat from the QFC in the U-village. After my experience here, I’m going to send my friends out to get meat if they want it halal.

This is a great little neighborhood resource for Middle Eastern /Mediterranean food & goods. I spotted this store by accident after a shopping trip at the nearby Value Village. These guys are tucked in the rear parking lot of the 125th& Lake City shopping block in the north-east corner. I think I’ve found a new shopping staple here. The atmosphere is very laid back. The owners were friendly and helpful when I inquired about a particular spice. The space is somewhat cozy, but they have lots of interesting and well-priced goods, including hummus, grape leaves, fava beans, lentils, halvah, halal meats and fish, frozen goods, drinks, trinkets, and much more. They do accept debit and credit cards. Unfortunately I was on a bicycle so I couldn’t stock up, but I will be back soon with a more complete review. I do hope these guys stick around because I adore Middle Eastern cuisine. It’s nice have a local resource for spices and supplies. P. S. This is what their website indicates that they sell: «Grocery, African, Middle East Foods & Halal Meat, Phone Cards, Rugs & Clothes.» The sign on the storefront also mentions«computer repair,» oddly enough, but I can’t really confirm what this refers to.
