Great Sandwich! Just the right amount of vinegar, meat and cheese cut to order. Simple sandwiches and super yummy.

Great little place, very friendly staff(who I think is also the owner). The prices are quite cheap considering this is a small locally owned place. While I was waiting for my sandwhich, a couple entered and the staff member recognized them and had their order memorized which was a nice touch. I ordered the Ham and Turkey on French bread. The bread was fresh and soft although didn’t taste very ‘French’ too me — more like just plain white bread, which was fine. All the veggies were also tasted and appeared fresh. The bread to innards ratio was perfect. Although the bread looks big, it’s doughy, not tough or chew and not super filling. If you want to support small businesses this is a perfect opportunity, especially considering how many Subways we have here in Seattle.

Spongy bread and cheap, low quality ingredients. Overpriced crappy sandwiches. Will not eat here again.

They are OK, since the sub shop#7 left us at Rainier Beach area, I have really been looking for a good sub place to fill that hole. This is as good as it gets. They are a little skimpy with the meat and veggies and they leave the bottom bread dry, which I hate, so ask they put mayo on both sides.

Simple straightforward sandwiches. The place is a little dated but clean. Reminds me of delis back in the Northeast.

The bread is so soft! They put just the right mix of oil and vinegar to add flavor without making the sandwiches soggy. Love this place!

Worst French dip of my life. $ 8 for Soft bread, cold meat, cheese, and powdered au jus. Filthy location.

Pretty basic, tasteless, unexciting fare. If you’re hungry, and don’t have time to stop anywhere else, this will suffice. But otherwise, drive a little further in either direction and you can easily find something MUCH better for a quick nosh.

I am so glad I live just steps away from this place. The owners prepare every sandwich with the skill of a samurai’s cut and put attention into the perfect placement of every piece of meat, veggie, cheese, and condiment. They are craftsmen of the sandwich. Not sandwich makers. There are also a variety of simple sides, drinks and chips for a nice complement to this sandwich perfection. Always fresh ingredients, from bread to meats, cheeses and crisp veggies. They are my sandwich heroes! And their attention to detail pays off in every single bite :)

Close your eyes and enjoy a terrifically chewing French bread roll on a freshly cut set of meat and cheese. I think the owners are usually working the counter, and they’re so fast to get you serviced. I like it.

Friends recommended this place to my husband and I a few months ago so we finally stopped in today for a quick lunch. I had the number 4(turkey and ham) and he had the french dip, both on french bread. The first sign of trouble was the aus jus which started out as a microwaved cup of hot water and ended up with a brown powder being added right before serving. The meats and cheeses were sliced in front of us which I thought would mean they would taste deli fresh(they didn’t), and the french bread was soft, bland and at least a day old. Put it all together and we had two very disappointing sandwiches which left us both wondering«Why bother owning a restaurant if you hate food»? If you want ingredients that come straight out of Costco then this is the place for you. If not then you can getter a better sandwich at Subway for less money.

This place isn’t gourmet, but they make decent sandwiches at a good price. They cut the meats and cheese in front of you, which is nice. The meats and cheeses are very processed, but it still turns out well. All of the sandwiches come with a choice of white or wheat bread and the same toppings(lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, oil, vinegar, mayo, mustard) unless you specify. I ordered the Vietnamese special. It came with turkey, jalapenos, cilantro sprigs, mayo, and«pickled vegetables». I know this is weird, but he sandwich smelled awful(maybe the pickled veggies?), but it tasted good! They have an awesome selection of chips — unique flavors and different sized bags. They also have a good assortment of drinks. The place is tiny, and there isn’t much room to stand. There are a couple of barstools so you can sit and eat in the window. It’s a good place to grab a quick bite to eat!

I eat here close to once a week. The meat is processed, the cheese is processed, but as long as your not a food nazi, the sandwich is a good one.

Basic subs. They slice the meat right in front of you. All sandwiches comes with: Provolone, lettuce, onions, mustard, tomatoes, mayo, oil & vinegar. I had the #1 which was decent. J had a #10 which was good. It’s nothing phenomenal, just your basic sub but that’s ok. That’s what I was craving.

Fresh cut deli meat! Really! They whip out the cold meat and cut your cuts FRESH! Subway and JimmyJohns don’t even do that. Subs are kinda small, but they’re decently tasty. The place could use a little ambiance though, but I suspect it’s the way it is so people step in order and leave.

Pretty good small town sub shop. I wandered in here on my way home one day and honestly I wasn’t expecting much. From the exterior, the shop itself looks a little run down and the interior isn’t much more aw inspiring. The man working(owner?) was very kind and let me stare at the menu for a few minutes. I eventually settled on a pastrami, swiss, and kraut full sized sando. The sandwich was pleasantly surprising. Decent size(maybe a little larger than a footlong Subway sandwich), good meat, but was a little lacking in the freshness category. The cheese and meat are sliced in front of you and tasted great. The other ingredients, however, looked a little questionable for me… aka the lettuce was pretty wilted, slightly brown, and were unrefrigerated… a little suspect. I waited a couple hours before I wrote this review and my stomach doesn’t hurt, so I guess its fine. Solid sando, but nothing to write home about. Neighborhood owned, small business and I have no issues vouching for them. But I still have one quesiton… Where the Unilocal am I supposed to park?!

Alright. What the hell people. This place is horrible! All their meat is processed crap! Fake turkey, fake ham, fake good sandwich! I am a sandwich freak. I eat, pray, love a mother trucking good sandwich. I kicked Joey’s ass from Friends over a good sandwich. This was not that sandwich. Unfortanaly I can’t tell you one good sub shop in West Seattle and I’ve been looking. I heard Huskies is good, but I can never drag myself in there with all the dam kids running around high on ice cream.

I think this place must have been really good to go to around 1999. I’ve got friends who swear by the place, but even they seem disappointed any time we have gone there in the last decade. They seem to me to be hoping that they are going to get some mythical sandwich they remember from the past, and are almost always underwhelmed. Since I don’t personally have that nostalgia experience from my past tugging at my heart strings, all that I have ever had from this place is a sandwich which straddles the line between barely serviceable and piss-poor. The bread is a Costco French Roll, the meat is Costco Deli Cold Cuts. The only veggie choices are three day old lettuce, razor thin tomatoes, and onions. No green peppers, no jalopenos, no creative sauces. Sure you can choose between two types of cheese, but thats all the variety to be found in this joint. The service is really, painfully slow. I’ve gone there during half time of a sporting event with some buddies, trying to get back time to watch the game, only to miss the entire third quarter. When you finally get your sandwich wrapped and delivered to you, what you have is something you could have made yourself at home choosing only the cheapest ingredients from Fred Meyer only worse, because if your making a Sandwich for yourself to eat your likely to put more care into it than these guys do. When you serve sandwiches like these the only way to make up for the way the sandwich suffers in so many areas is with sheer quantity of meat, cheese, and toppings. But alas, Sub Shop #9’s subs are as skimpy as they come. 2 Stars only because this place is in West Seattle and I have a major soft spot for West Seattle businesses that stand the test of time. So many of them just don’t last. In the case of SS#9 though, its a wonder they have lasted so long. See Instead: Jersey Mikes Subs, Jimmy Johns, Georgios, Quiznos, Subway… yes subway…(I went there).

My girlfriend dragged me here when we were home for the holidays. She is a big sandwich nut for some reason and I wasn’t too thrilled to be eating here when I could have gone to one of my more desired eating establishments. That being said, this place makes a pretty good sandwich. I got a turkey bacon with no mayo and the bread is fresh and soft, they cut the meat right there in front of you, and the veggies are crisp and fresh. You get a decent amount of meat on the sandwich as well. The menu is also pretty expansive which I like since it’s cool to see what new combos places come up with. Service was quick and friendly and I enjoyed my experience here. If I was ever in the mood for a good sandwich I would have no problem coming here again. I asked my dad if he had ever been here as well and he related a similar experience to mine which is another good sign since my dad is a very tough sell.
