Service was terrible! 1. Ordered two eggs over easy, brought me scrambled instead. When he corrected my order, only brought me one egg. 2. When our food came out, I had to waive down the waiter so he can bring us utensils. 3. Took forever to bring out our coffee and we had to ask for it twice. 4. Got a refill, had to ask for cream three times. It was getting quite annoying. It’s time to get it together people!!!

Service is great and this burger though! Wowzer. The burger was tender made with grass fed aged beef with the perfect amount of pink. They dolloped some aoli on top of the sweet potato fries. Loved it!

Good spot for dinner and drinks in Cap Hill. I like that they have several variations on the moscow mule, which just so happens to be my favorite drink. I tried to millenium falcon, which was really tasty and refreshing, in addition to the BLT, which was pretty solid. Service is friendly and quick, and it’s got a nice chill feel to it.

They have a pear collins here which is DELICIOUS. I do not like the taste of alcohol, and this doesn’t taste too alcohol-y, just sweet and yummy. Their fries here are SOGOOD, and so is the aioli it comes with. The truffle popcorn is a huge serving and it’s cheap and delicious. I’ve ordered the mac and cheese and it is really good and filling. I love this bar because even on a friday/sat night, dinner time or late night, there is always seating. It’s a really calm atmosphere and the food is fantastic, so I will always come here.

Came here with some friends for dinner. WOW, their mac and cheese is out of this world. You can ask to have it with bacon or pork belly. I recommend the pork belly. Yummy. They also make delicious drinks as well. Just FYI, their«fries» aren’t really fries, its more like potato wedges. still good but not what you would expect.

We came here for Sunday brunch and the service was very slow. Our server rarely came back to check on us and when we asked for the checks, he disappeared for another 20 minutes. The fried chicken and a biscuit was very good. I recommend paying extra for the gravy as without it, it is rather dry. I recommend ordering the iced Carlisle coffee. You should only order the full order of biscuits and gravy if you have no other plans that day. It will put you in the best food coma ever.

I’ve been to Saint John’s a handful of times and have had a great experience each time. Solid selection of beer, although not a great selection of wine. They have a fairly extensive cocktail menu though, none of which I’ve tried. Although the service has been a little spotty, they make the second best mac and cheese I’ve every had in my life!

The first time I came in I was a bit put off. I came in with two friends and we were waiting for two more to join us. There were two people working. They were busy, but walked by us at the bar dozens of times. After 15 minutes it was unacceptable that they had not gotten our drink orders — they weren’t that busy. Two people say down next to us at the bar, and our friend walked in a moment later. One of the people working finally came over, and helped the people that had come in 15 minutes later us. At that point we left. Fast forward about 8 months later, I decided to give it a shot for brunch. I was greeted right away. The service was on par, extremely attentive and all needs were anticipated. The bloody’s were just OK. Something about the mix was not to my preference. Maybe too much horseradish? I like them extra spicy though. Still, it was good. The food was outstanding. The house made biscuit and eggs with arugula, sriracha aioli and finished with these really fantastic piperade, tender red bell peppers. I had the full attention of all three people working, one of whom sharing my first name. I’ll be back.

I went there for happy hour to grab some food. I had no idea what it was or anything. I was very very surprised. Probably the best burger I have ever had in my life. My Wife ordered some chicken thing, it was also amazing.

No wait brunch AND good food? It’s a Seattle unicorn! I’m not much of a carb hoarder but I had a hard time sharing my potato cake and Macrina toast. Also, any place that has Portland’s Aardvark hot sauce or serves Mama Lil’s peppers is more than okay in my book. Service was nothing special but food was speedy and good vibes make for a great brunch spot.

Yummy! Waitress was really nice and attentive, the drinks were good and food delicious. It also has a chill, cozy atmosphere. I checked out the patio and although it wasn’t a good day to go out there, the dinosaur garden was bitchin.

This place is rad! I’ve only had happy hour here, but everything I’ve had has been spot-on and one of the best values on the hill. If you’re in the mood for a burger, theirs is delish… onion jam is a nice touch and a better bun than most. Their fries are yukon gold wedges and discs… and when they came out I went to grab salt because, well, salt… I was hangry at the time and there wasn’t any salt on the table, so I was miffed… again, hangry, but I popped one in and it was perfect… crispy outside pillowy inside… and perfectly salted… The server I’ve had is really nice, very good, and a fun person. Thank you St. John’s.

I’d compare this place to Glo’s which is good for standard American brunch but nothing remarkable. You can expect the typical bennies, omelets, french toast kind of menu. It’s pretty good but doesn’t really stand out. The service wasn’t terribly good and it took ages to get our food. I ordered the soup, eggs, biscuits and pretty much all was meh. I asked the waitress several times to get me milk instead of half-half. She kept forgetting to bring that and even mixed it up causing me to have to throw my coffee. Fortunately, coffee had free refills.

I’m visiting the area from Nebraska, and I’ve been on the hunt for a great burger. I found it here! The bartender was my waiter, and he had a lot of great suggestions. I had the Millennium Falcon to start. Not a bad whiskey drink, but I’ve come to expect my mules in a copper cup. I ordered the St. John’s Burger with Beecher’s Flagship and bacon. Just the kind of burger I was looking for! The bacon was crunchy, the onion jam had great flavor and the burger was cooked perfectly. The hand-cut fries were crispy on the outside. I finished up with a Pear Collins, which had a wonderful fall flavor with the sweetness of the pear purée and the sprinkle of cinnamon on top. Would certainly come back.

Used to come here when this place was simply Rosebud. When it became Saint John’s I loved it even more. The space is much more open, they have great food, and great drinks. I was going to give this place at least 4 stars, but a recent experience has made me reconsider. A group of us came in around 7PM on a Thursday. It was not busy by any means. But a sourpuss looking bartender came over, threw menu’s down on our table and then proceeded to walk away. She then came back and started to take our drinks, but then halfway through decided not to and basically told us to come to the bar to order. Ok, that’s fine. But every time we sat at a table here we’ve gotten table service. And she simply could have avoided the situation by just asking us to come to the bar. This in of itself would not make me give this place a 1 star review. Actually, I probably would have ignored her rudeness and people can have bad days sometimes. A couple friends go the bar and she is basically s***talking us. Like flat out saying words that she shouldn’t be saying, dropping f bombs and calling us b****** all because we didn’t come to the bar. This is all within earshot and she probably did want us to hear, but my friends being the nice people they are decided not to confront her. I am sorry you hate your job. I am sorry that maybe you just had a crap day. But please don’t be a dick to your customers. Hate to say this, but take your money elsewhere.

Came here for brunch. Got the broccoli and cheese scramble. That was a little gross. The eggs were runny and cold and it was a very tiny portion. Service was awful for me. Took forever to get a menu, took forever to get water, took forever to get a napkin and the check. Maybe I can here on an off day? Not coming back.

Everytime I’ve been here it’s been delicious. Good Capitol Hill vibe with good brunch too. One of my favorite spots. Happy hour burger is 10. bucks, grass fed(I think!) and great!

I’ve been here for lunch and brunch now and I’ve enjoyed both of my visits! Be sure to seat yourself on the back patio ;) nice and secluded back there, almost felt like I wasn’t in the middle of the city for a bit. For brunch I had a pretty standard brunch plate, except it comes with a PBR. Two eggs, toast, mashed potato cake, and thick cut bacon. I opted for a biscuit instead of toast and it was the best decision I made that day. Fluffy biscuit and really good jam! Tastes natural and not overly sweet. Be sure to try the golden girl sandwich and get the mac and cheese with bacon. Such a solid order for lunch! Unfortunately, I made a bee friend while sitting on the patio towards the end of my meal and he made me feel pretty uncomfortable. My bee friend really liked to hover around the mac and cheese, wah.

What you need to know: They’re open starting at 10 am on the weekends and 2 pm on the weekdays. Happy hour is from M-F 2 — 6 pm. The HH food menu is available from 2 — 6 pm but the«real» dinner menu isn’t available until 5 pm. They have a cozy back patio with outdoor heaters and string lights between exposed brick walls. It’s pretty. My experience: I’ve been here a couple of times in the past. Not all the food is mind blowingly good but goddamn ‘em sandwiches! The Golden Girl sandwich doesn’t just have a cool name, it’s freakin’ delicious. They have a wide range of food and drink options on their HH menu. If those are not appealing to you, their regular menu won’t break the bank. Service is sweet and friendly albeit noticeably unrushed. The last time I was here, I came with a larger group of friends. We sat in the back patio and no other patrons joined us the whole time we were there. It was nice and relaxing and everyone was pleased with their foods and drinks. We were asked to order at the bar with open tabs. That worked so much better than our usual problematic splitting the bill at the table dilemma with our group(there were 8 of us). Tip!: Ask for your drink up. They’re a little heavy handed on the ice. The sangria was watery and I was forced to finish my cocktail before the ice melted. For the second round of drinks, I asked for my cocktail up. It was still a tad too watery for my liking but I hear I’m crotchety about such things so it was probably fine. Fortunately, it didn’t get any more watered down than how it was served so for that I was very grateful.
