Best place for tapas or a great meal with so many options for drinks as well! Curry corn fritters are my favorite. Great service and amazing food and drink. Highly recommended.

Walked in on a Sunday night and realized that it was happy hour. Some of the tapas are about $ 1 off during happy hour. We ordered a bunch of plates to try. My favorites were the roti with curry, popcorn shrimp, and grilled shrimp with Asian pesto(the pesto was so good). The calamari was ok but the batter was just a bit too thick. The curry corn fritters were on the bland side but had great texture. I also really enjoyed my cocktail that contained green tea infused vodka. The décor is really interesting since all of their tables are live edge. However they are all oddly shaped and too small and not very conducive for ordering a bunch of tapa plates and sharing.

Root Table has limited seating so get here early. The food took a bit long to arrive and wasn’t anything outrageously good, but still decent. The service was lacking bigtime. It would have been nice if the waiter didn’t take fifteen minutes to let us know a certain entrée wasn’t available after putting in an order, and we didn’t get water refills until getting the check. An average experience.

Excellent Thai and Thai fusion. Cooked fresh with great ingredients in novel combinations. If these guys had a restaurant downtown, I’d stop by at least once a week. A true gem in a sea of bland, uninspired Thai food in Seattle. Highly recommended!

This was such a great surprise! We started with mojitos which were the best I’ve had. Their tapas was an outstanding value and the flavors devine. The angry beef will bring me back to Ballard many times. SUPERB!

Saturday night and our reservation wasn’t needed… but not sure why. This place was tasty and fantastic. Sweet server. We went tapas style with the steak bites(could bathe in the sauce), shrimp, cucumber salad that was AH-mazing, root fries and some angry beef. The hubs dug the braised beef texture of the angry beef and I gobbled the veggies. 2 thumbs up.

This place is a gem. We have many favorites in Ballard but for whatever reason we hadn’t tried this place until tonight. I must admit this has now made the top of our list. We will be back for sure. Food: Blanket shrimp, mussles and fries were all amazing. For drinks the Pineapple 3-way and a white sangaria were perfect. Service: Great, kept the dishes cleared and made sure we had water filled. Price: We just happen to come during happy hour so it was really cheap. Even at full price the items seemed reasonable. Would recommend to others.

I recently came here with a group of 9 and enjoyed everything I ate… And we tried a lot of different things! This place is great to go with a bunch of friends if you like to try a lot of different small plates and entrees. The tapas are a pretty decent size for sharing and they are reasonably priced and the décor is pretty cool since the tables are made of slabs of wood. This place is listed as Asian Fusion and we found that a some of the items we tried were were like thai– italian. which, i know, sounds really weird! BUT don’t worry they don’t go too crazy and they make it work. So here’s my list of what we tried Root Fries — I like the combo of having the potatoes, sweet potatoes and taro root. the fries were cooked well, some were very salty but we still liked them Curry Corn fritters– This was my favorite appetizer– nice crunch and flavor on these! Roti and Curry– the curry almost tasted like peanut sauce but i mean i’m not gonna complain about that cuz I love peanut sauce so extra bonus! the Roti was also very good Thai Bruschetta– this was actually really good. the chicken is like sandwiched in the bread and then the basil and tomato on top really does fuse in the bruschetta taste Oyster Mushroom Pancake– Nice big fluffy pancake! Didn’t get a lot of the mushroom flavor but if you like pancakes you will like this one. It’s definitely thicker than your typical asian pancakes but what’s not to love about that?! Burmese Curry Noodles w/tofu– ok so this was made with spaghetti like noodles and topped with crunchy noodles as a garnish. It was delicious. The curry flavor was total comfort food and the portions is definitely shareable!(Especially if you’re ordering a ton of tapas like we did ;P) Green Curry Pumpkin Soup– tasted exactly what it sounds like… did not disappoint. another comforting soup that was a win– great veggie option! Fettuccine Drunken Noodles– this was the only dish that didn’t wow us in any way but it was still tasty. That thai sweet basil they top it with is great. i could probably eat a salad of it, it had this charred finish to it. Overall i liked this place. i’d go back. Hope you get to enjoy it as I did!

Came here Sunday for appetizers. My fiancé and I ordered the stuffed mushrooms and boy they were the best mushrooms I’ve had. The flavoring was very wonderful and they were the perfect temperature. they are only 6 bucks and you get six little baby ones like the perfect little treat. I will say the location isn’t the greatest only because parking is a pain in the area but the inside of the restaurant is totally cute and very hip. I definitely want to come back and actually order lunch here since we only came for appetizer. Worth a trip in.

We have lived in Ballard for a year and Im really surprised we did not discover this place sooner. It has a very small footprint on the sidewalk and its not easy to see its inviting décor from the street. We met a friend here for appetizers and drinks that ended up turning into a grazing dinning experience that we all thought was excellent. The service was attentive but not hovering. One guy was covering all the tables so things slowed a little as the place filled up but a friendly attitude goes a long way toward making up for short delays. Everything we ordered was prepared fresh and brought to our table promptly. The wine was good and very reasonably priced at happy hour. This was not the sort of place where Im not inclined to depart at the end of happy hour so its a good thing that the prices did not jump excessively as we lingered well past happy hour. I guess that’s the whole idea behind restaurants offering happy hour. It really works for this place. We had the beef bites, calamari, shrimp and a couple of other small plates. This is the sort of place where my initial experience causes me to want to try everything eventually so Im reluctant to steer people who read this review too much. I suspect there is nothing on the menu that is not worth trying. Now that we know the place is will be one of our top Ballard restaurants.

Have tried many Burmese but must say this one no doubt takes the lead. We took the rotis and curry, lemongrass chicken lollipops and corn fritters as tapas. The order listed is my most favorite ones to least. We also tried their burmese chicken noodles. The broth of the noodles was very different and was very yummy. The rotis were so thin and melting in mouth and curry had a totally new taste like no other burmese restaurant I have tried before. I was totally in love with rotis and curry. The restaurant has a very beautiful ambience. Their tables and chairs are carved out of thick tree trunks, even their menu card. Its a perfect date place for all age groups. Next time when I visit Seattle I would definitely visit this place again.

Holy crap, this place is great! I recommend the crispy broccoli, curry corn fritters, and green curry pumpkin soup. All of these things were frickin’ incredible. Since that’s all I ordered, I suspect other things are frickin’ incredible too!

I was surprised to find this place to be… for a lack of a better word, just ‘meh’. Walking in, I found the décor super cute; the tables are made from slabs of tree trunks and even the chairs and stools were assembled with whole trunks and branches — same even goes for the covers of the menus. There was only one hostess/waitress, but since I came here on a weekday afternoon there were plenty of empty tables and she was able to seat us rather quickly. My friend and I started off with the sweet basil mussels and then an entrée each. The mussels didn’t seem very fresh to me, nor were they meaty. I was very underwhelmed. For the entrée, I had the ménage-a-thai. I found all three curries to taste very similar. The meat I chose was beef and it was overcooked. The roti was good, but I can’t imagine anyone ever messing up on roti(especially if it was premade). Once again, this was another lackluster dish. My friend wasn’t too impressed with his entrée either. I forgot the name but it was some sort of fried meatball with root fries. We saw a lot of good reviews that mentioned the root fries, but to our dismay it did not meet our expectations. Somewhat soggy, and a little too dense? Not sure if it was just a bad batch, but I was a little sad because I love taro. Since it was 0 – 3, I’m a little reluctant to come back.

I had lunch at Root Table this past weekend. The food and service was good. I would like to see more dishes on the menu that are healthy — protein and veggies, without rice or noodles. Would definitely come back to try dinner service here.

I was surprised I hadn’t been to this restaurant before, and after reading some reviews, I was a bit apprehensive about our plans to dine there with friends. However, the entire evening turned out great. The inside of the restaurant is adorable. Our server was attentive, friendly and helpful. She helped us figure out the best foods on the menu to eat, offered her opinion on certain dishes, and was always available if we had questions. And our meals were outstanding! Everyone at our table enjoyed their tapas and their entrees. The garlic sauce on a couple of the dishes was great, and I really liked my green bean tofu stir fry. I’d go back in a heartbeat, and I already know what I’ll be trying next.

I had a great experience eating at Root Table. I had no plan on eating here but I saw a sign that said silkworms tapas special so I had to stop in. For people worried this was the only insect based dish and for those that want to try they were the perfect nutty topping to a salad. As for the other tapas the selection was perfect I tried three other appetizers and they were great. the muscles with sauce and juice was a great snack. The corn fritters we’re packed full of corn which you rarely see and the dipping sauce added the right amount of spice and heat. I also had some yakisorba which wasn’t the best thing I had but I was happy eating it. Truly a fantastic happy hour restaurant that just needs a few more people. The look of the place is relaxing in meditative with Buddhist and dark woods everywhere. my only complaint is the heavy wooden chairs and table, while pretty and added a lot to the look I felt at times like I was awkwardly eating at a desk from a college auditorium.

What an interesting place! Recently I got together with some girlfriends and when deciding on where to eat, we opted for a spot in Ballard for a change of scenery. I hadn’t been to Root Table so I loved the idea of seeing old friends in a new space. Everything in the space is heavy and warm. You feel like there’s a huge jungle that has a restaurant carved out of the middle of it. All of the tables and chairs are made from big heavy tree trunks and branches. You see knots and holes and imperfections as the wood was created into furniture just how it came from the tree. It’s really quite amazing! Our server was super kind and friendly and because it was our first visit, we relied on her heavily for advice. She suggested great cocktails and wine, as well as great food. In fact, the menu is extensive! There were so many lovely sounding appetizers that we ended up ordering 6 or so and just sharing small plates instead of ordering our own entrees. Everything from the corn fritters to the steak bites was really tasty. The flavors in the food include lots of curry, spices, garlic, and peppers. Some dishes were spicy, others were mild, and everything was good. I would definitely recommend this to friends in the area. It’s pretty cozy and while there’s one big center table for a group of 8 or 10, most tables are 2 and 4 tops so definitely call ahead and make a reservation.

What an original idea for a restaurant! We loved this place. Each table and set of chairs were unique and visually appealing, the whole restaurant seemed so natural and beautiful. I was so excited to try the food. We hit the appetizers for a couple hours during their incredible happy hour. Every single thing we ordered was suburb. We had Lemongrass Chicken Lollipops, Grilled Steak Bites, Root Fries, and Stuff Mushrooms. It was all so great and even the fries, made out of different root vegetables were flavorful. Plus the ketchup? Spicy and delicious. We were also able to sample several of their specialty cocktails and they were so yummy! My boyfriend and I actually fought over who was going to have which one because we wanted to try so many. A beautiful, fun and unique dining experience and I can’t wait to go back and try an entrée.

This place just screams cool and not your usual experience. First of all is classified as an Asian tapas place. Asian Tapas = more different types of Asian food. Sign me up. It’s in the heart of Ballard which is usually ground zero for Seattle hipsters but this place is a little different. You walk in and every table is unique and made from this heavy, sturdy wood. I mean it’s the type of tables where if you put your glass down in the wrong spot it could fall straight through the table. But this place is more. than just atmosphere. The food is great. Had the cucumber tapas dish which was great, the stuffed shrimp tapas(shrimp stuffed with chicken, say what!) and finished the meal off with the ginger chicken entrée. Needless to say there was absolutely no left overs and my stomach was begging for me to order more. Unfortunately it was just a lunch visit and I will save my pigging out aspirations for th next time I’m here which will certainly be for dinner.

Came here for a birthday party for Saturday happy hour from 4 to 6 and after 9 pm. They have $ 5 specials on alcohol and select appetizers as well. I got both of the shrimp appetizers. One of them had grilled shrimp about six of them and it came with a dipping sauce that tasted a bit overly salty for me possibly from the fish sauce used and possibly soy sauce. the other one was shrimp that was wrapped and fried with the egg roll wrapper. It came with the usual sweet and sour lumpia sauce. Neither of these dishes were outstanding. However I really like the roti which came with curry sauce. It was very flaky. It is a definite must. The steak bites also came highly recommended. The dishes come in a sweeter version than traditional thai food. To all my friends ordered a yucky soba dish with tofu. The tofu was executed well with enough crunchy goodness. I ordered the bartender’s special which was a sake mule. It ran on the bitter side though. The décor was more modern with a tree stump as our table. Even our seats were stumps as well. Overall, I thought the food was alright, décor and customer service was good.
