Randall Ogata, DDS

Dr. Ogata was recommended to me by my dentist. My dentist said that Ogata’s father was an excellent orthodontist and so he said I should see Randall. I went up to Dr. Randall Ogata’s office two times total. The first time I had x-​rays taken, the second I was fitted for my retainer to get my teeth ready for braces. After the second time I was there, I told them it was really too long of a drive for me (I live an hour away) and I wasn’t going to be able to continue with my treatment.
Unfortunately, I had already signed a paper that said I was responsible for the full amount of the braces. Even though I hadn’t had the braces yet, they held me to the contract and threatened legal action if I didn’t pay!!! What kind of dentist makes you pay thousands of dollars when they didn’t do any work, just because of a piece of paper!
My dentist has since stopped recommending people here. He says that although his father was good, this orthodontist doesn’t have the same skill and my dentist hasn’t been impressed with the results he has seen.

After researching multiple orthodontists, my husband and I chose to take all three of our kids to Dr. Ogata. Their problems were complicated (and inherited from both my husband and from me — Ugh) and we wanted an orthodontist who would treat them and also treat the root causes of the problems. Dr. Ogata advised us to have tonsils removed on one of them and it made sooooo much of a difference in her! He also was pro-​early intervention which ended up shortening the total time they were in braces. In the end, I feel we didn’t pay him enough for the level of care he gave our kids. He is also really good about talking directly to the kids and including them in their care. The office always has plenty of parking available, I think the workers in the building must park off-​site. The kids loved the reward tokens and the rewards dispenser for good check ups. They also loved the movies in the lobby.

Dr. Ogata is top notch I used to go to him years ago and just showed up without an appointment for a check up on my old retainer, he didn’t have my old file which was understandable since it was probably almost 10 years since I went to him regularly. Anyway i explained my situation and he made an appointment for the next week and I went to him a few more times and he said things were fine and didn’t charge me anything so yeah pretty good guy.

I’m the third patient in my family to receive treatment, and while there has seemed to be a staff weakness here and there over the years, Dr. Ogata himself is not one of them — and I find his current staff extremely personable, capable, responsive, proactive and professional, with great attention to detail and any questions.

My son’s orthodontic issues have been taken care of in a satisfactory fashion. However, it is Dr. Ogata’s administrative team that leaves a lot to be desired. No one knew how much of the bill was paid or when, they don’t call to remind you of appointments, and it just feels like they don’t really care that you’re there.

I saw Dr. Ogata way back, years ago when I lived in Seattle. I was an unusual case, being an adult patient and already having a set of braces that were put on by another orthodontist a couple years prior and continuing treatment with Dr. Ogata.
He actually diagnosed a bent turbinate that I had surgically corrected. This condition can lead to difficulty in nose breathing at night while sleeping in some cases, and he wanted to have it corrected to ensure that the condition wouldn’t compromise my orthodontic work. It makes sense, because mouth breathing can have a negative effect on teeth alignment over time.
I am extremely happy with the results. After well over ten years, my orthodontic retainers STILL fit. I only wear them periodically, and people have commented positively on my teeth.
Overall, excellent job by an excellent orthodontist. He is justifiably proud of the work he does. Even better, my employer at the time covered almost all of the work that he did. I remember his fees being very much in line and money well spent. Thanks, Dr. Ogata!
